@@saida07iof course, make it sure it's at night before sleeping in like an hour so your skin can suck it, and make sure to moisturize with something that has hyaluronic acid.
I use a SA cleanser everyday. Then 2% SA solution every week. And also 7% glycolic acid toner every week. Don’t over exfoliate because it will damage your skin barrier and makes you super sensitive. I also use Vitamin C to lighten hyperpigmentation from acne scars. Its working great.
Salicylic acid is good but it doesn’t prevent new acne from forming. For oily skin, keep your routine simple, respect your skin and don’t be over aggressive with it. If you can handle the side effects, use Tretinoin and a moisturiser as a buffer like Cerave. And that’s it. I have been using salicyclic acid for 3 months now, but whenever I use it my acne just gets worse and I get what they call "closed comedones" all over my face. I have researched and I don't think its purging.
If Salicylic Acid is damaging your skin then the problem is under your skin, you should try only Benzoyl Peroxide at first, it kills all the bacteria that cause acnes at first place
@@debalinabanikchowdhury5108 Hey lovely, sounds like you may be experiencing skin purging which is completely normal when you start using active ingredients like salicylic acid on your skin. This is a good thing and removing build up, it should clear. If it doesn't clear after 3 months I would stop use. Can you let us know what product you are using and how many times per week do you apply the product?
I feel like Salicylic Acid is too weak for my skin. I did see some improvements when I first used Salicylic Acid the problem is that it eventually became less effective and didn't help prevent acne anymore. Also, almost all Salicylic Acid treatments only contain it in 2% concentration, and we need more products with higher concentration of it.
This DOES work for me, but I have thick Seborrheic dermatitis on my face with underlying Rosacea, so my face is pretty sensitive! I'm also a little older than most TH-camrs on here.
You should try benzoyl peroxide, it kills all the bacteria under the skin which prevents acnes at first place , Salicylic Acid is not a permanent treatment it just clean your skin and doesn't treat it

I am using salicylic acid and made more harm for my skin than my previous routine (clean, exfoliation and hidratation). I don't know what i'am doing wrong
I used salicylic to peel for clients with a concentration of 20%. One strange thing is that when I let a client use a fan, one side of the client's cheek has hoarfrost, while the other side is still rosy. When hoarfrost appears, the layer of peel still has no feeling and is still covered with hoarfrost
It actually took me a few months after using BHA continually to get used to it, I was having redness and feeling irritated so badly initially, but eventually my skin now is recovering so well!!
@@iskandar4363 I think you should let your skin get used to it gradually. From the very first start and even until now, I realized that my skin can only handle BHA no more than 3 times a week
Currently using Dr Sensitive Niacinamide + Salicylic Acid and it works amazing for my skin. Though I have to always avoid or at least have low exposure from the sun even with sunscreen due to the AHA ingredient. It says in the box that it may increase sun sensitivity.
I have had the most horrible embarassing scalp acne. Hard pastures that I can't pop and become swollen sore and I pick the skin off. Despite years and years of buying all kinds of shampoos including with salicylic acid they never helped. I got betamine shampoo which helped the itching and pain. I tried an antiseptic cream no luck. I tried tooth paste and was funnily able to pop the damn pimples. But back in no time. Now I got a young solutions spot treatment and I think it will solve the problem. I obviously had plugged dead skin cells😪
I have had acne prone skin since I was a teen. Recently, I have been using the Burt's Bee's Salicylic Acid cleanser as the only thing I put on my face and it has been clearing my acne and oily prone skin and making my skin brighter, softer, and smoother without having to use any other products with it.
Yes you most likely are experiencing skin purging which can last 4-6 weeks. Completely normal and the product is doing it’s job! Your skin will clear up
Update now? I am using Salicylic acid three times a week (micropeeling of rilastil) and i'm getting more pimples on my forehead... i just had some pimples underskin but now they're more evident and a little more.. Today is 11 day im using it(Combined with the cleanser and anti-blemish cream always of the same line) is this skin purging? You had it too?
Personally i used salicylic acid face wash and it was tremendous results i amazed ,even my friends shocked how u reduced that much and i was glowing too. Cuz i also used glycolic acid but when i got satisfied and discontinued as my skin is very sensitive and didn't cared so pimples cam again and scar also. Although these chemicals are very expensive too so I can't use it for long
A good SA cleanser without other skin irritating ingredients can be left in skin for sometime before washing it off. I keep it on for about 5 mins...same as my BPO cleanser.
It depends on the product you have chosen as quality and formulation make a big difference. Generally you’ll start to see a result with salicylic acid 4-6 weeks but again it depends on a number of factors - the state of your skin, what you are using in your routine with it etc x
I've been using salicylic acid and benzoyl for nearly a year now and I still have a lot of acne on my forehead and some on my cheek. I use those two ingredients in pretty high (?) concentrations like 10%. I'm currently using the cleaners but no improvement yet! What products can help me instead? 😢

Hi! I’ve been struggling with acne for a while now and have pretty oily skin! but I’ve finally added salicylic acid into my routine. here’s what I have and have even using for the past 2-3 weeks: morning: CeraVe SA cleanser and the CeraVe moisturizing cream night: CeraVe SA cleanser, The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution and the CeraVe moisturizing cream I use the ordinary’s salicylic acid every night. On the package it says to use twice a day but I thought it would be too rough for my skin. is this okay? should i use it more or less?
Great question! After treating hundreds of clients with their skin concerns we find exfoliating that often is way too much and strips your skin’s barrier (the acid mantle) Unfortunately some brands still list you can use it daily when it should be personalised for each person but No more than 3 x per week. Because you have been struggling with acne you could also add a retinoid to your routine. I would cut it back to using your salicylic acid 2 x per week but also incorporate a retinoid which you could include on the alternative nights with 1 or 2 recovery night. It could look like this Morning - cleanse, moisturise Night 1 - cleanse x 2, salicylic acid solution, moisturise Night 2 - cleanse x2, retinoid, moisturise Night 3 - cleanse x 2, moisturise (recovery night) Night 4 - cleanse x 2, moisturise (recovery night) REPEAT
@@chanyza2861 use vitamin c in the morning before moisturising and spf! It’s an antioxidant and a tyrosinase inhibitor meaning it will prevent excess hyperpigmentation from forming within the skin. Salicylic acid cleansers worked for me so well during my teenage years. I never had a single issue or any breakouts I guess I got lucky I found my product but it got discontinued. After that I struggled to find a product that works best then university life added so much stress to me that I started having hormonal acne now at 25 I’m getting my first acne breakouts, I’m graduating next year and I’m so stressed that salicylic acid doesn’t work as much anymore. I did add benzoyl peroxide cleanser to my routine (PM) so hopefully I see results soon 🤞🏼
It depends on your skin type and concerns as well as the product and what else you are using in your routine. Those who are experiencing acne can use it more often, if you just experiencing mild blackheads etc you can use it 2-3 x weekly. Start off 2-3 x weekly, and see how your skin is.
Salicylic acid did nothing for my level 3-4 cystic acne. It only make my skin drier & flakier. Gycolic acid was more effective, but only to a certain extent. The only thing that helped me was a round of accutane (8 months) & using perscription topical retonal cream for superficial scarring.
I think Accutane is probably the most effective medication for most types of Acne and/or oily skin. I wish they had this when I was in middle school in the 1960s!

Hi, can I use 0.5% salicylic acid daily in the morning? Is it actually increase sensitivity to the sun? I've heard that SA is photoprotective is it true? Thanks!
You only need to use an exfoliant once to twice a week. So daily is over doing it! Yes it does increase sensitivity to the sun, ensure you where sunscreen daily.
After using Neutrogena 0.5 salicylic acid moisture for one month i am having acne breakout from last two weaks. It is from this product? Should i use or discontinou?
Hi! Is a serum that contain niacinamide + salicylic acid 5% effective? I wanna know and how many times a week shoild i use it? Night or day time? Can i purge when using it? Thank you!
Combination of salicyalic acid n niacinamide works like a magic. I used both the serums from the brand called minimalist. It really cleared my acne n blackheads.
Hey! depends on the product you are using. You may also experience skin purging (breakouts) for 4-6 weeks if you have congestion underneath your skin which is normal. With consistent use once to twice weekly - you will start to see an improvement. It will also come down to other skincare products you are using in your routine
Just started using neutrogena oil free face wash 2x a day with 2% Salicylic acid if I’m correct. With a neutrogena moisturizer my skin is soft but still bumpy of course it’s gonna be though cause it’s only been 2days. But I was just wondering how long will it take for my skin to get smoother?. Sorry for wasting anybodys time.
You are not wasting anyone's time, we love your questions and are here to help :) You won't notice the best results unfortunately with a cleanser with 2% salicylic acid, as cleanser's are not on the skin long enough to penetrate as deep into the skin. You are better off with BHA liquid exfoliant which you leave on the skin. You may experience skin purging and that's when your skin breakouts more than usual due to using active ingredients on the skin. This is a good thing as the product is doing it's job and can last 4-6 weeks. You will start to notice results between 6-12 weeks. However you will need to look at also adding different ingredients. Salicylic acid is the best exfoliating ingredient for Acne, beside retinol. I highly recommend you to watch these 2 videos on Acne Skincare Routines. I’ve been using the pink grapefruit version for the last 5 weeks and it’s completely lifted all of my congestion and blackheads out of my pores. I leave it on the skin for 3-5 minutes and then follow up with a moisturiser of course and that’s all I use. It has blasted all of my congestion/blackheads and has made my skin smooth with no texture and less acne. Skinzone is completely wrong in saying that these cleansers are not effective and don’t “penetrate” the skin because they’re not on the skin long enough that’s false.
@@williamk7035 Hi William, sounds great you are having great results with your pink grapefruit exfoliant. You are leaving it on for 3-5minutes which is perfect. Salicylic acid penetrates deeper into the epidermis as it is oil soluble to work from the inside out but it needs to be on the skin long enough to actually do anything. Cleansers are to balance the skin's PH, remove excess oil, dirt and sweat from the day. When you cleanse you are only leaving the product on the skin for 30seconds at the most, unless you are leaving it on for 2-3minutes - which the common person does not. Compared to a stay on liquid exfoliant, the results from using a cleanser that contains salicylic acid will not be as effective and that is why we recommend a liquid exfoliant that contains salicylic acid over a cleanser.
Hey, Do not peel your skin! It Sounds like your skin needs moisture. Are you moisturising? And how often are you exfoliating? Max 2x per week is plenty.

@@fenixog9847 Hey! So I had a look and your cleanser contains SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate) which is an ingredient to avoid in cleansers. It's in detergents and is too harsh for your skin. I can guarantee that this cleanser is stripping your natural oils on your skin causing redness, sensitivity and your breakouts. Using salicylic acid on top of an irritated skin will make it worse. I would replace your cleanser - and have a break from your salicylic acid serum. You are also using your serum way too often, should not be used twice a day. Only 2 x per week is plenty.
Hello, I have a question! I have enlarged pores and some pustules in my face and I am planning to buy either cosryx salicyclic acid daily gentle cleanser or ordinary's salicylic acid 2% masque to unclogged my pores... Is it okay for a someone who will use salicylic acid for the first time to use a cleanser type? And is it okay to use it at day but benzoyl peroxide cleanser and retinoids at night?
Hey Maxine, yes either salicylic acid product will be fine. You will get a better result from a mask or serum as it is left on the skin longer and able to penetrate deeper. So you could purchase both the salicylic acid cleanser and the masque if you wish - just don’t use at the same time. I would suggest using the benzoyl peroxide cleanser and retinoid separately though as it can be irritating to your skin barrier. If you can let me know your skincare routine currently and I can gain some insight into how your skin is reacting to your routine

Hey 👋 Hoping to get a reply from you !! So I had a very imp query regarding my acne issue So currently my skin care routine is Morning - cleanse , moisturise And sometimes clindamycin gel as a spot treatment on active acne When I go out then only I use sunscreen And in night - cleanse , Then I use tretinoin cream 0.025%. 3x a week Then moisturise I am following this routine since 3 month My acne has reduced But now I get acne 1/2 a week on cheeks But 1/2 white heads I get almost every alternate day Basically near my nose area and also on nose So pls can u tell me what to implement to eliminate all those remaining issues ?
My advice is to not switch to other products quickly, start off slow introducing new products, otherwise you're going to interrupt your skins process into getting used to the product. Avoid tretinoin unless advised by a dermatologist. Try and use salicylic acid as it is best for acne prone skin, but only use a light layer, if it does irritate you can switch to lactic acid, but that does not penetrate deep into the skin as much as salicylic acid.
Salicylic acid can tingle when you first apply it but if it’s itching for a unusual amount of time you may have an impaired skin barrier or allergic. Best to stop use for a while and repair the skin barrier. It could also be you are using it too often
Hello. I bought the Ordinary hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid and niacinamide. I have oily skin, a lot of blackheads in the T zone, open pores and small scars on my cheeks. Could you tell me what could be my skin care routine? Your channel is great. You've got a new subscriber.
Hellp, I am using salicylic acid, niacinamide and retinol for 1 month now and my nose and sking is getting peeled. I only see that i have to squeeze the blackheads on my nose every night because they are becoming visible. I do not know when i will see the actual results on pores and is it normal for my face skin to get peeled and i need to sequeze my blackheads now? My routine is: Morning: cleanser + niacinamide + salicylic acid + moisturizer Night: cleanser + niacinamide + retinol.
You are using the retinol and salicylic way to often, they shouldn’t be used on the same day too. It sounds like your skin’s barrier is compromised and you need to work on repairing your skin barrier before you reintroduce actives again

I have been using salicyclic acid for 3 months now, but whenever I use it my acne just gets worse and I get what they call "closed comedones" all over my face. I have researched and I don't think its purging.
I'm experiencing it too
If Salicylic Acid is damaging your skin then the problem is under your skin, you should try only Benzoyl Peroxide at first, it kills all the bacteria that cause acnes at first place
Me too
Salicylic acid is the holy grail ingredient especially for oily skin

@@debalinabanikchowdhury5108 Hey lovely, sounds like you may be experiencing skin purging which is completely normal when you start using active ingredients like salicylic acid on your skin. Can you let us know what product you are using and how many times per week do you apply the product?

I use salicylic soap wash to treat my seborheic dermatitis. Something I can’t live without
Love that for you!
Which brand do you use?

What should i use for bumps i have oily skin? Can you suggest me some good products?

Hi! I’ve been struggling with acne for a while now and have pretty oily skin! but I’ve finally added salicylic acid into my routine.
here’s what I have and have even using for the past 2-3 weeks:
morning: CeraVe SA cleanser and the CeraVe moisturizing cream
night: CeraVe SA cleanser, The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution and the CeraVe moisturizing cream
I use the ordinary’s salicylic acid every night. On the package it says to use twice a day but I thought it would be too rough for my skin. is this okay? should i use it more or less?
Great question! After treating hundreds of clients with their skin concerns we find exfoliating that often is way too much and strips your skin’s barrier (the acid mantle)
Unfortunately some brands still list you can use it daily when it should be personalised for each person but No more than 3 x per week.
Because you have been struggling with acne you could also add a retinoid to your routine.
I would cut it back to using your salicylic acid 2 x per week but also incorporate a retinoid which you could include on the alternative nights with 1 or 2 recovery night.
It could look like this
Morning - cleanse, moisturise
Night 1 - cleanse x 2, salicylic acid solution, moisturise
Night 2 - cleanse x2, retinoid, moisturise
Night 3 - cleanse x 2, moisturise (recovery night)
Night 4 - cleanse x 2, moisturise (recovery night)
REPEAT

Salicylic acid cleansers worked for me so well during my teenage years. I never had a single issue or any breakouts I guess I got lucky I found my product but it got discontinued. After that I struggled to find a product that works best then university life added so much stress to me that I started having hormonal acne now at 25 I’m getting my first acne breakouts, I’m graduating next year and I’m so stressed that salicylic acid doesn’t work as much anymore. I did add benzoyl peroxide cleanser to my routine (PM) so hopefully I see results soon 🤞🏼
Paula's choice 2% BHA toner..
Can we use the ordinary SA everyday ? I'm only 18 and this my first time trying anything with Sa

Hey! depends on the product you are using.

You are not wasting anyone's time, we love your questions and are here to help :)
You won't notice the best results unfortunately with a cleanser with 2% salicylic acid, as cleanser's are not on the skin long enough to penetrate as deep into the skin.
They are both very affordable brands and will give you much better results than Neutrogena.

@@SkinZoneTV I agree that a leave on will provide quicker results but are you saying the BHA in a cleanser isn't effective? Show me.

Is it okay for a someone who will use salicylic acid for the first time to use a cleanser type?

You will get a better result from a mask or serum as it is left on the skin longer and able to penetrate deeper.

Hey 👋
Hoping to get a reply from you !!
So I had a very imp query regarding my acne issue
So currently my skin care routine is
Morning - cleanse , moisturise
And sometimes clindamycin gel as a spot treatment on active acne
When I go out then only I use sunscreen
And in night - cleanse ,
Then I use tretinoin cream 0.025%. 3x a week
Then moisturise
I am following this routine since 3 month
My acne has reduced
But now I get acne 1/2 a week on cheeks
But 1/2 white heads I get almost every alternate day
Basically near my nose area and also on nose
So pls can u tell me what to implement to eliminate all those remaining issues ?
Avoid tretinion. And just put salicylic acid in that bumps. Use it for 15 day
@@RohitKumar-kt5de also can u pls elaborate why should I avoid tretinoin
My advice is to not switch to other products quickly, start off slow introducing new products, otherwise you're going to interrupt your skins process into getting used to the product.
Avoid tretinoin unless advised by a dermatologist. Try and use salicylic acid as it is best for acne prone skin, but only use a light layer, if it does irritate you can switch to lactic acid, but that does not penetrate deep into the skin as much as salicylic acid.
Is it normal to feel itchy whenever I apply dermorepubliq 2% salicylic acid toner?
Salicylic acid can tingle when you first apply it but if it’s itching for a unusual amount of time you may have an impaired skin barrier or allergic. Best to stop use for a while and repair the skin barrier. It could also be you are using it too often
