- If you want to build resilience in Boise, this is the video that helps you understand what's coming at 2C and 3C above the pre-industrial climate baseline. There are challenges ahead, but when we put the pieces together, I think you'll agree that Boise has a real shot at a strong future.

Concise and excellent report, thank you for showing the research sources and process -
Thanks @rapauli- I hope it'll make it easier for people to check in on the Atlas for themselves
Emily, nice to see you're going strong building this community! 😊
@denisefelton5207, thank you! I'm so glad to feel like I'm in a place, I can commit to more years with American Resiliency. We are going to do some good stuff!
Thank you Dr Emily great video I appreciate all your work..Many thanks!!
always welcome!
Let's get to work, Boise!! 💪
@ashleyquick5712 your community has a good place to hold. Wishing you and yours all the best
I don't mean to throw a wrench into the works, but when I see outlooks for temps of 2c or more above baseline I question the models. At some point we lose sea ice in the arctic and when that happens we lose the jet stream and weather as we understand it. This is why groundwater is a key part of my survival strategy. It *may* move to circulating around Greenland but that doesn't help us. On the other hand, we could also be facing an AMOC collapse which could end up restoring arctic ice and freeze out norther Europe.
In other words, although I know we need something to work with I think we need to take ALL of this with a grain of salt and remain vigilant and be prepared to adapt or change direction fairly quickly.
I think you have a reasonable perspective.
This is an unusual piece because I don't often get the opportunity to share commissioned content, that openness to share is a real kindness to the community.
This piece, being requested by an architecture firm, you have to think about how the information will be used. I can see a strong rationale for 3C info if you want insight on practical edges for design conditions, I think it's pretty bold and cool.
There are very few firms in the country getting their hands into this information, I'm glad to have had the opportunity to assist. I more often get calls from firms who ask me if this is really happening. They're not ready to take a hard look yet.
It's going to be chaotic for sure. Luckily, a lot of the strategies that work for dry heat can be adapted during cold snaps, and being able to capture & store water can help with both flooding and drought. Being able to see what the extremes could look like will really help with adaptation plans.
