It would be cool if all buttons become like the camera button. And we can have a half press as a different function. Make all of the buttons an action button.
Why do so many people miss the point of the camera button movement. You flick to go between large tick marks and then you can fine control by moving your finger. Stop thinking about it as a swipe control. When you're in zoom flicking will go from .5-1-2-5x quickly, then you can move a little if you want to fine tune.
Wild guess! How probable is it that the "camera control" is the test run to see the customer response to replace all buttons in the future with a single "control"...
I don't think it'll replace everything with a single control, but I could definitely see regular buttons replaced with capacitive ones (as they mention around 6:58)
Technically, it’s not a button because you can go in the settings and turn it off just like when phones with touch ID went dead. You couldn’t tell that anything was there.
Made the switch from a life long android user and the s23 ultra. Crazy how different and yet intuitive the switch was for me. So maybe I’m biased, but the 16 pro max is pretty amazing compared to the issues I regularly had with apps and the interface on android. The location of the Camera Control is a bit awkward. I wish they had just made that into something like a new power button and not have it exclusively tied to the camera app. Too many buttons now.
I recently upgraded my phone from the 13 Pro to the 16 Pro. The enhanced capabilities of Apple Intelligence on my new device have significantly improved my productivity. The text editor is particularly impressive, enabling me to efficiently compose emails, text messages, and comments on this video.
i was curious and actually went to a sony store recently to check that out, sure the button is there but the quality and software capabilities are sadly laughable in comparison 💀
@@mzr9710 I feel you, although a hot take for me is that in the previous reviews, the team and tech journalists would always bash at sony for including the button, saying it is for pros, i think that might've had an effect on the appeal...
This is not the same thing as launching with the features. Now, while Apple doesn’t technically use any specific verbiage saying that all of these features are “available now”, it is pretty scummy to advertise them this heavily and not have them available. And even if the argument of “just sign up for the public beta” were valid, it still doesn’t have key advertised features like Genmoji or image playground
I find the swipe-to-zoom function unintuitive because it doesn’t behave like a Magic Trackpad that responds proportionally to the speed and distance of my finger movements. Instead, it simply jumps to the next zoom level regardless of how I swipe.
14 Pro batteries were terrible. It's the one time I've ever just upgraded the next year purely because I didn't like the phone. I've done yearly upgrades in the past when it was free to do so with my carrier anyway, but I had bought the 14 Pro outright, and in less than 12 months the battery health was at 82% and I wasn't getting a day. So I moved to the 15 Pro, traded the 14 Pro for almost 50% the value, and have had no issues like that since.
I got the new phone for the photographic styles and the camera button. The photographic styles doesn’t really offer any looks that I like, and the controls for them don’t let me shape them into something that I like. There’s like two setups that I think look good. The camera button is not very good at all. It’s to easy to accidentally swipe, and change a setting just when you’re trying to frame up your shot, it’s fiddly to dial in the setting you want with the slide function, and the amount of force it requires to activate the shutter is too much, so you blur the photo from camera shake, unless you’re holding with both hands firmly. And unfortunately, because they decided to make it an actual button that clicks, they can’t adjust it after the fact 😊 we’re stuck with it
I would far prefer camera button zooming to be a "rocker style", like as you move your finger a little and it slowly continues to zoom in... and you move your finger faster and it zooms softly faster (like any cam corder has). Then you could do a continuous soft zoom out/in effect without introducing camera shake from moving your finger. And as far as shipping without the heart... I can see that not everything development wise fits into a 1-2 year release cycle and they need more time... but I can't help thinking Apple doesn't think their new features are good enough to get people to buy, so they are getting people to buy the phones before the new features can actually be reviewed (and thus discover its not so great). Who knows.
I dunno... I signed up for, got accepted, and started using Apple AI today, about an hour after I finished setting up my new 16 Pro Max. It's been interesting so far. It seems the majority of content creators are acting like this is a make or break feature, totally ignoring everything else that the phone ships with.
Hmm I took the new camera button as Apple just showing what can be done with a physical key, if you notice iOS reacts to the volume keys being pressed as well. I say this is pointing towards maybe the 17 having all buttons like this and maybe even make them touch sense keys with the same depth pressing the camera key has. Essentially doing away with all physical keys but making them sensitive to touch and how hard you press it makes it do different things 🤔
I think they don't call it a button because it's like a track pad (not the magic trackpad) A regular trackpad is technically a button because you can press it, but it's not called a button. 🤷🏽♂️
Our family experience is that apple delivers above what we expect. In regard to Without the heart", change it to without the intelingence you want and or expect.
A phone should add little ports or magnets or something. I don't know how to explain it. But like those magsafe connectors on the iPad that link the magic keyboard. Put connectors on the phone and then you can customize a case that connects to those connectors and case manufacturers can add physical buttons to their cases anywhere they want, and them be wired into that connector. That way instead of trying to make a case to accommodate a weird camera button it just adds a new button directly
I mean going button less and port less is possible if they release a whole ecosystem for this just like MagSafe. A connection and api for case manufacturers to go crazy with custom hardware buttons. You can add fingerprint scanners, touch scrolling, dedicated buttons for apps, memory card slots, storage expansion, keyboard attachments, microphones, lenses, man it can go wild.
definitely feels like it... a letdown making Apple Intelligence unavailable to previous models outside of the 15 Pro but not distinguishing the 16 enough to feel like its that different... outside of a camera button. add in all the press saying things like 'iPhone 16 built for Apple Intelligence' and then no apple intelligence until a later date? what reason is there to upgrade?
The real kicker is Apple could have delayed the iPhone 14 Pro until this year, branded it as the iPhone 16 Pro, and people would still flock to it as something new because Apple's updates year over year are so minimal. - Jokingly said as an Apple fanboy who switched to Samsung and hasn't looked back.
Samsung's upgrades year on year are also incremental, but ok. All smart phones are. They peaked years ago. The yearly releases aren't aimed at the people who have last year's model, they're aimed at people who are already looking for a new phone because they need or can justify a new one anyway. Stop comparing it to last year and instead start looking at what it can do for its price range.
I think there is a lot if hypocrisy in comments or mor simple and accurate: those who are complaining on TH-cam, are not real iPhone consumers. Regular iPhone 12,13,14,15 were in top 10 smartphones sales each year, worldwilde, including in USA and Canada. I've never seen so many comments saying "i don't care about 120hz, i love rose, i love teal so i'm gonna buy one". I'm also pretty sure, Apple will release a special color for Pro iPhone in March like it has been 2 years ago with Alpine Green. And people gonna love it. Apple knows Apple consumers : they know consumers are ready to risk it all for an iPhone and colors of iPhone 16 have been chosen on purpose. They knew they will be late, so at least, give fanboys some colors, to make them feel happy.👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
I hope they ditch the new camera button on the iphone 17, I really see no need for it, and it's awkward to operate when you hold it vertically. Also just pressing the screen is faster for me.
It might be related, but i always hated smooth scrolling in browsers. Maybe it feels too uncontrolled or even blurry. Hard to explain. But i much prefer hard quick intervals of regular scrolling. Maybe this is why i am ok with my 60Hz personal phone, although i also use 120Hz work phone and i don't prefer it (but don't dislike it either). It is just ok for me either way. But not in browsers on my PC :D
imo users aren't missing anything essential without AI. It's more like a nifty driver bit than an organ of any kind. The AI features on my S24 are cool, but not revolutionary like advertised. tbh I was more excited for 8gb ram for multitasking and 3d touch button when phones are losing buttons.
Maybe apple is even more closer to removing all the buttons and replace all the actions with a capacitive button like the one that lunched with iPhone 16 to control the camera so that users can get used to it’s gestures and use hence apple didn’t want to brand it as a button so that when it lunches that very iPhone will be truly buttonless, THOUGH 😊

Sounds good right? As long as you don't think about how much productivity you are missing by being stuck on iPhones
Wow I thought this was someone else channel using your footage!

Sony phones sitting in a corner somewhere thinking: Am I a joke to you?
i was curious and actually went to a sony store recently to check that out, sure the button is there but the quality and software capabilities are sadly laughable in comparison 💀
@@mzr9710 I feel you, although a hot take for me is that in the previous reviews, the team and tech journalists would always bash at sony for including the button, saying it is for pros, i think that might've had an effect on the appeal...
AI was available on launch via 18.1 Public Beta and sending request to AAPL in Settings
5G doesn't work on my iphone 16 pro. Tried with two different carriers. It is either a faulty phone or a software glitch
return it asap..no need to tinker hard..let the warranty do its job..
I find the swipe-to-zoom function unintuitive because it doesn’t behave like a Magic Trackpad that responds proportionally to the speed and distance of my finger movements. Instead, it simply jumps to the next zoom level regardless of how I swipe.
When did you film this? I’m on an iPhone 16 pro max with developer beta 18.1 beta 5
Steve Jobs is screaming right now. They are shipping "vapor" as the "one more thing, "
Sad fact that they made that beautiful black Apple Watch Ultra 2 but they can’t make the titanium iPhone black.
Fair comment and feedback from Marques
Can the scroll sensitivity be in a future software update? or is that a hardware thing?
I hardly takes pic. Should i buy iphone16pmax ?
no never, i regret my decision for buying 15 pro max and switched to Pixel 8 Pro
They also have signs at the Apple Store saying Apple intelligence is here.
My iPhone 16 pro works just fine as there are loads of new features on iOS 18 to get my hands on and Christmas presents for my iPhone in December
On the battery front. I purchased the 16. Upgrading from the 14 Pro. Battery is vastly improved for me. Very noticeable
I feel that they could hand made it like a camera dial but for adjusting zoom or exposure
It's not refreshed, it's refurbished. "It's Faux Time!"
Who knows.
What if camera control can control your video playback or volume control when your are watching TH-cam video or watch movie on apple TV+.
I'm glad i space out my upgrades now
We need that review video Marques
It's more like shipping without its soul! The heart is the battery and the SOC.
I dunno... I signed up for, got accepted, and started using Apple AI today, about an hour after I finished setting up my new 16 Pro Max. It's been interesting so far. It seems the majority of content creators are acting like this is a make or break feature, totally ignoring everything else that the phone ships with.
18:45, remember that Siri was in beta for a few years
Hmm I took the new camera button as Apple just showing what can be done with a physical key, if you notice iOS reacts to the volume keys being pressed as well. I say this is pointing towards maybe the 17 having all buttons like this and maybe even make them touch sense keys with the same depth pressing the camera key has. Essentially doing away with all physical keys but making them sensitive to touch and how hard you press it makes it do different things 🤔
New studio grade voice recording while shooting video and edit it after shooting it you missed it bro
2024 we will have flying cars? nope, new buttons on a phone..."that is crazy!"!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well flying cars sounds like tge wirse idea there is
have lived with out it up until today. I'm ok waiting.
"Let's update it by giving it an old design!" 😂
I think they don't call it a button because it's like a track pad (not the magic trackpad)
A regular trackpad is technically a button because you can press it, but it's not called a button. 🤷🏽♂️
And your wallpapers app is shipping without a reason to get it.
Our family experience is that apple delivers above what we expect. In regard to Without the heart", change it to without the intelingence you want and or expect.
There should be an option for zooming in and out of the camera app so you can change the sensitivity of zooming in and out
Im upgrading to the 16 pro from a base 11 model. I feel like it’s worth it for me.
The camera control “button” could be in its location due to the EU still having SIM card tray.
Wow, you should work for Apple
I’m not a fan of AI and when it arrives, I still will not use it. So the iPhone 16 not having AI was a selling point for me.
definitely feels like it... a letdown making Apple Intelligence unavailable to previous models outside of the 15 Pro but not distinguishing the 16 enough to feel like its that different... outside of a camera button. add in all the press saying things like 'iPhone 16 built for Apple Intelligence' and then no apple intelligence until a later date? what reason is there to upgrade?
They still wouldn’t fix what’s broken and missing on iOS such as file management system, codec, clipboard etc
The iPhone 16 is Shipping Without a Heart : much like your wallpaper app...
Not only do you have to buy the new magsafe puck, if you use the old one it charges DOG SHIT SLOW!
Having to use that capacitive side button to swipe and scroll through Instagram or TikTok feed would be interesting!
It would likely need to be relocated
The real kicker is Apple could have delayed the iPhone 14 Pro until this year, branded it as the iPhone 16 Pro, and people would still flock to it as something new because Apple's updates year over year are so minimal. - Jokingly said as an Apple fanboy who switched to Samsung and hasn't looked back.
Sure sure, suddenly everyone is past apple fanboy switching to samsung 🤣😂
Rog Log is so good
I hope they ditch the new camera button on the iphone 17, I really see no need for it, and it's awkward to operate when you hold it vertically. Also just pressing the screen is faster for me.
Native photos app editing is kaput in iOS 18
Force closing on changing text cooler in text bubble
So you guys think the should bring back sub 6inch phones
I've seen a million commercials about apple intelligence already despite it not being available. Imagine if Samsung did this, the Internet would melt.
I think the pro 17 phone will have more phone controls built into the “camera control” and it’ll have a new name.
Hoping it has Touch ID by then.
Not by the time I finally get mine mid October
December in the UK
Sounds like class action lawsuit time
In Australia when they announcing on Radio by Telco; they are saying that AI will roll out in December 2024?
I am using iPhone 13 and this year I finally looked at new iPhone and considered for 1 sec should I upgrade.
As an English Premier League football fan, now that we know Adam is an Arsenal FC fan, I'm curious to know if anyone else in the team follows English football... and if so, which team do each of you support?
This used to be an interesting channel to watch before anti-iPhone.
Apple is shifting to human ai
idk about you but ip15 >>> iphone16 aesthetically. That camera bump on 16 looks like "OLD"
It’s fully operational on my 16 pro max in Canada.
Well, if game developers can sell you a unfinished game and then promise you the rest of the downloadable content for purchase later why can’t everybody else do it?
