One thing about the 128gb storage size, my wife has had a iPhone for years and she is no where near topping out at 128gb. I 100% applaud whatever algo Apple is using to compress the data. Also about the price, Apple really wants to push people to the Apple Upgrade Program since you don't have to shell out the full price but it very much feels like 'leasing' a phone.
THAT's why the iPhone 16 has an electrically charged adhesive for the battery! Now it's up to the EU to determine whether it can be removed with tools lying around the house.
Only the standard 16 and 16 Plus has them. The Pro Max has even an extra metal housing around the battery (with useless pull tabs), which I wouldn't call eco-friendly 🤦🤷

That's why higher fps are only commonly used for slow motion so the shutter is again at 1/50.
It’s actually way deeper than that. The iPhone 6 isn’t meant to be some new device with cool new features. It’s actually an advanced spy device. As an European, it's crazy hearing people in NA complain about the iPhone prices. Some people here fly to the US to buy them. The difference is absurd.
Absurd in what way? 16 Pro starts at 999 USD. In Europe, it's 1199 Euros. Euro and USD are now of basically same value. Prices in US are without VAT, because that is different from state to state. So, what absurd difference are you talking about?
The average salary in Europe is around 20k while in America it is 40k, additionally we have to pay more for tech as well, we can barely survive these days
2:33 My friend got one and I noticed it right away, it's somewhat subtle but on something like a phone a small reduction is pretty noticable for me and at this point it's nearly gone, no thicker than the aluminum
05:50 I'm glad I'm not the only one weirded out by the placement of the camera control. I'm an Xperia user and the shutter button on those is significantly closer to the end of the phone and it's a much more natural placement, even if I think it's still a little too far down the side of the phone for me (it's probably more comfortable if you've got slightly bigger hands)

Linus, you don’t want the action button to be a toggle. Trust me. It’s gonna turn your camera/flashlight or whatever it’s programmed to on all the time and kill your battery and make you look like a boomer with your phone flashlight constantly on.
I had a good laugh at this as I think back on all the times I saw older people in supermarkets with their flashlight being on randomly. Something must have changed since covid as I haven't seen that at all in the last 4 years.
Linus, the camera control is in the right spot, because it's meant to be used one-handed. When you one-hand it you move toward the middle for better balance
I am going to say that you have to hold the button in the left side for 1-2 seconds because it is too easy to mistake it for the up button. Also, the camera button on the lower right, the idea of use it to take a picture is to make the phone work like a physical camera, where the photo click button is on top of the camera. Also works for zoom in and out, slider effect.

no mention of the Lidar scanner on the pro models for better focussing and also for being able to use it as a 3D scanner, yeh maybe it's a niche feature, but it's still pretty cool to be able to do
How easy would it be to pick the 16 pro when you have an iPhone 12 already and AT&T gives you the 16 pro for free with trading in the 12? Obviously you are in Canada so I’m sure that’s different but in the US, you get the 128GB pro for free with trade in of 12 or higher.

a 90Hz screen would make this literally a no-brainer. Also, 128GB is not too little storage, I use that in my daily driver and feel stupid for this much storage in my phone.
I wouldn’t say 128GB is a ridiculous amount of storage for a phone with cloud storage and all, but how much they charge for upgrades is ridiculous. Also, the fact that they advertise the 128gb storage of their phones as “tons of storage for all of your photos and videos” - 😑 that’s some serious gaslighting Apple.
@@kunimitsune177 It’s stating something as fact in a manner that makes the person who is the target question their sanity because what they are stating is not true. In this case, 128gb is clearly not “tons of storage,” and I am the person like “wtf Apple, that’s obviously not the case.”
@@itsAlzatron I have not seen another tech company claim 128gb is “tons” of storage for all your photos and videos. Obviously companies exaggerate, but I thought that was beyond exaggeration for Apple.
I think people who just buy the most expensive flagships at launch (privately, not even a tax write-off) are all crazy. I mean, you could at least argue that iPhones in particular don't get cheaper quickly, but still.
I don’t know why Linus is complaining about iPhone pricing when he seemed to be happy with having foldables for years that are double the price of an iPhone. The very note 9 he is replacing had a launch price of $1249 for the 512GB version. Sure iPhones are pricy but so are the other flagships to a comparable degree and most consumers are going to have an existing phone that’s eligible for a trade in/carrier subsidies. I could trade in my Phone 13 Pro Max for $1000 at a carrier I already have and effectively only pay $200 for an upgrade. Storage upgrades should be cheaper though $100 can buy 1TB of NAND so at least I think having the first $100 upgrade bring you straight to 512 GB would be at least semi-reasonable.
Because foldable phones are a completely new technology There a very few on the market The note 9 is the top tier of the time and was fully specced out The iPhone starts at 800 dollars with 128gb and a 60hz screen Every other phone at that price point has at least a 90 or 120 hz screen The point is it’s a flagship price for a midrange phone
@@contentthemaker yeah 60hz, USB 2, and 128GB starting storage are annoying segment limitations depending on your use case, but there are lots of other ways the iPhone 16 stands head and shoulders above any midrange/even flagship phones, the display brightness, build quality, built in speakers, and SOC performance are all exceptional and those are things other midrange brands usually compromise on instead, and I’m not sure any midrange phone has a proven track record of 6+ years of day 1 software updates going back to 2015. Also the main camera on the 16 is top notch and can compete with any flagship out there (especially in video where the iPhone usually excels relative to the competition) but certainly there are midrange phones out there with competitive camera offerings as well depending on your use case. Point being I’m not sure why there are all these complaints about how much phones are costing now when this is how much they have costed for quite some time and hasn’t significantly changed in the last 7 years, especially considering the rate of inflation in other categories over the last 7 years. $1249 in 2018 is equivalent to $1565 today and you can get a 512GB iPhone 16 Pro Max for $1400, a 512 GB S24 Ultra was $1400 at launch as well. If you really want a budget iPhone buy a refurbished iPhone 13 Pro with a warranty for $500 and if you want 256 GB it’s $600, has 120hz, still good cameras, 4+ years minimum left of software updates, and a very snappy experience to this day. I daily drive one and I get 2 days of battery life still. Idk I’ve always found the real ways to get competitive pricing from apple is to buy their few years old flagships used. Pay midrange prices for a flagship experience today.
So where the camera button is located is where the old 5G antenna use to be located. The consequences of using that exact location for an interface is that it makes the button so hard to reach but I guess it saved apple a couple of R&D dollars just to use the same exact location rather than move it to a more usable spot
Why couldn't apple add the double click on on the power button? I bet in the future iphone will be full of buttons, iphone 21 we have 21 buttons.......
Especially since he's a literal millionaire. Like the saved few hundred bucks matter when you drive $100k car. The only thing in which the regular 16 is actually better is weight and its distribution. You can feel that the Pro is not only heavy but top heavy, probably because of the more advanced camera system. Other than that it's just about saving some money on a device you use for literal hours every day for years...
08:55 small detail you should improve. If the phones are Pro on the left and regular on the right, then the screenshot from Apple's website should be in the same order and not in reverse. It's very confusing to look at the pro on the left and then in the next shot to see the left side indicates less GPU cores.
When there are $200 phones out there that have 120Hz displays, it's certainly a valid criticism. I get that it's not a 'Pro' model, but for $800 a 60Hz display in 2024 is objectively atrocious, whether 120Hz matters to you personally or not.
14:13 I have an iPhone XS and not planning on upgrading until next year when software support will be cut off. I may even consider toughing it out an extra year depending on features 😅
10:44 -- With my iPhone 15 Pro, I noticed a lot more stutter than with any iPhone before. Something with the ProMotion Display seems to cause more stutter (probably based on a software issue). Some apps are worse than others, but scrolling can be jarring because of noticable micro-stutters. Switching to low-power mode also feels bad, but that may be due to actually only having 60Hz then.
Maybe the reason for smaller storage in iPhones is that enterprise compnay dont need it. They just allow only few apps to be installed. And everything else is "disabled" or just nice to have for users. They just need secure company managed device running just business related apps.
Learn to set up shortcuts and bind it to the action button. Using device orientation, you can bind 6 different actions to the button based on the tilt of your phone. I didn’t care at all about the button until finding this out. Now it’s a game changer

It’s actually way deeper than that. The iPhone 6 isn’t meant to be some new device with cool new features. It’s actually an advanced spy device. All of the sensors built into this phone make it possible to detect the environment around it at all times it’s always listening due to its shortcut features it’s always, scanning every picture and image you take or that comes across your screen, though Apple claims that they don’t invade your privacy the new AI that they have built into these phones is at all times, scanning your phone and sending that data back to the servers at Apple, who send it to Whatever three letter agency wants … These devices are literally more invasive than any previous phone and if you have a brain, you will stay away from it as if it were someone with the Ebola virus because that’s what these phones are. It would be possible for the phone to check the proximity sensor before turning on the flash to determine if it's in a bag or pocket.

Linus, the camera control is in the right spot, because it's meant to be used one-handed. When you one-hand it you move toward the middle for better balance
For one handed use it's placed too low but it's also too high to be used as a camera shutter button. It's in a bad awkward middle spot
No way he went with a 60hz phone
I am going to say that you have to hold the button in the left side for 1-2 seconds because it is too easy to mistake it for the up button. Also, the camera button on the lower right, the idea of use it to take a picture is to make the phone work like a physical camera, where the photo click button is on top of the camera.
Because foldable phones are a completely new technology
There a very few on the market
The note 9 is the top tier of the time and was fully specced out
The iPhone starts at 800 dollars with 128gb and a 60hz screen
Every other phone at that price point has at least a 90 or 120 hz screen
The point is it’s a flagship price for a midrange phone
@@contentthemaker other than the low refresh rate and lack of the always on display, iPhone 16 is hardly a midrange phone
It's almost like it's not about the price per se but the value it offers for the money you pay 🤦🏻♂️
We dont need to tell you that you will regret going apple. Apple will do that themselves.
In accessability you make the phone vibrate to music playing 😀
So where the camera button is located is where the old 5G antenna use to be located. The consequences of using that exact location for an interface is that it makes the button so hard to reach but I guess it saved apple a couple of R&D dollars just to use the same exact location rather than move it to a more usable spot
Why couldn't apple add the double click on on the power button? I bet in the future iphone will be full of buttons, iphone 21 we have 21 buttons.......
