HR 57 Here and was able to has early access to the game, Red paintballs WILL be a problem down the road if u wanna play without paying. After the starting amount they gave you, you will only get 1 red paintball per 10 levels on average. You are better off relying on your palico's free blue paintballs and save your red paintballs for something really really powerful that you will need help to slay with friends for the endgame. Also use first aid kits before using your potions if thats aint obvious already and if u dont use your capped 10 potions u can wait till u are down to 5 first aid med kit before claiming your daily free 5, effectively having 15 first aid med kits on hand ideally
You said don't claim the free 5 meds unless your down 5 in stock.... Is it just me? Or is that "claim" button is so triggering😢😅 Plus it's daily free, what's it going to hurt If I max out every day (probably use 1-3 meds a day)
I haven't personally bought any gems, but I understand the "one time only" thing means you only get some extra ones the first time you buy the pack, but every time after that will give you the regular number of gems
I really enjoy this game overall. It actually makes me WANT to go out! I especially like how the game seems to actually play _down_ microtransactions by making your playtime tied to your Hunter's HP rather than "stamina" or whatever. It rewards the extent of your skill as much, if not more than the size of your bank account. Shows that Capcom is just _slightly_ more pro-consumer than other video game companies are nowadays. I also find it really satisfying to be able to drop these beasties that can take upwards of 10-20 minutes in the mainline games in a matter of seconds. For the people who preregistered, you should have gotten 3 special carving knives that let you get the double parts without spending Gems. But you absolutely want to save them for when you get a rare part. Same goes for when you have to spend Gems.
At least the monster hunter branch is more pro consumer. I am no expert but I have heard horror stories from SF5 and its monetization. Though they might have gotten better as I have not heard anything from SF6.
@@EmilAhvenainen The Monster Hunter branch gets plenty from the Japanese fans who will happily spend $10 on layered weapons and layered armors. But from what I've seen from the r/MonsterHunter and Monster Hunter Now Discords, Now does start forcing huge demands on collecting parts and raising cash. At Grade 10, upgrades can cost 75,000 zenny and require 60+ of Rarity 2 or even Rarity 3 monster parts. It comes down to spending money vs. time. Will you spend money to get more Gems for double drops and to get lots of zenny, or will you spend time grinding for weeks on end for a single upgrade? There's still the luck factor for drops. Maybe it would be nice to have a pity system, if there isn't one secretly implemented already?
Something I wanna see be implemented is events set in more rural areas to help out with those who struggle to find hunts. It’ll really take away the focus from going to the big cities for events and allow people from every country to explore the more rural communities and learn more about their culture along the way. As a city man who really wants to live out in a more rural area, I think having some emphasis on the outdoors in terms of wilderness and rural communities makes it seem so much more immersive to the core series (I.e. communities in monster hunter, aside from Val Habar and Dundorma, being more akin to villages and isolated areas)

I appreciate the information this gives. And the fact gems are one-time purchases is more of a godsend than you'd realize. Usually, if someone is addicted to a mobile game with premium currency, there's usually no limit for purchases. Sometimes it's to be able to progress further ahead at an expedited pace. This is actually a very good point and should be considered in conversations like these. Gambling addictions do exist and these companies should really not be leaning into that.
Unfortunately they aren't just one time purchases, the UI is simply a little poorly designed. They're just using the standard mobile game fare of "you get bonus gems for the first purchase" and then every time you buy that pack afterwards you get a standard amount.

I loved the video, I'm also loving Monster Hunter Now, the house I live in runs off of an old solar battery so I can't use my tv or console meaning I can't play monster hunter world, this is the closest I'll be getting for a while.
I wish there was a discount for buying items in bulk. For example, you can buy 1 paintball for 180 gems, or 5 for 900. There is zero incentive to buy 5 at a time because there isn’t a discount in price. 180x5=900, so why even have the option if it isn’t going to be cheaper?
This channel is awesome, Monster Hunter is my favorite game franchise of all time and Naruto is my favorite anime of all time..... I command you to be my friend
I live in a rural area (though I have 1GB internet and my data is pretty good) and when I start the game I just load into a blank waterscape texture with nothing else on screen. My partner has the exact same issue. So I guess we're both going to be passing on this game.
I think Now is a much better fit with Niantic's style of AR games than Pokemon ever was. Pokemon was never really 'about' the grind, it was about the bonds you had with your Pokemon and collecting em all. Monster Hunter, since 3, has been about the grind.
I'm mad at myself because I pushed through the story as fast as I could and am suffering from it because my armor and weapons are weak so I'm playing catch up. If I could, I'd reset my account so I could level up my weapons and armor then move to a higher ranked monster when I absolutely needed to
Just curious because maybe I’m just doing things wrong. But I am level 38 and enjoy the fundamentals of the game but I feel because the quests where so freaking easy that it levelled me up so fast that I don’t really have the resources to make weapons for the monsters on that level. And I keep getting a glitch where once I get them to 3/4 health it just regenerates… I’ve lost over 7 paintballs(which gives you 3 tries each) i like the game I just don’t know how to keep playing from here… help?
You didn't get far enough to see this, but one of the bigger complaints I hear about this game is how absurd the grind gets after a while. The game quickly runs out of new monsters and materials, so it resorts to single weapon or armor upgrades costing literally hundreds of monster materials, not to mention 500+ hunts worth of zenny (probably because you're intended to either use your timegated daily zenny, or pay for it). No one upgrades their armor, instead accepting that they will be one shot, because it's too expensive. Similarly, raw weapons are generally favored because upgrading more than one weapon is infeasible. I would hope that this is all just a placeholder, and that as they add new content past low rank, they replace a lot of the ridiculously overtuned upgrade costs with more reasonable ones, but I'm admittedly not the most optimistic about it. Calling it "pay to win" is an understatement -- if you tried to p2w through it, you'd end up spending an absurd amount of money that most people simply couldn't afford
I never played pokego and its disgusted me MH series announced to be in mobile as in pokego style at first, but then after a few hours, this game hooked me so damn good and now I couldnt stop unless out of potions or energy in real life to walk around 3-4 town area to find monster and resources daily. Ah I really need a new MH series for pc/console now hahaha!
I've been playing for a week now! I just wanna say yesterday I was HR 23 and I saw some nearby player needing some help, I was like "I could help that person I'm kinda good" then it was a rathalos 😂, I've never seen a 4* at that point and needless to say I got 1 shot 2 times.
The fear I have with these games is that it'll be fair - even generous - at first, but a while later it'll be such that they count on you being addicted enough to "have" to spend money.
Unfortunately that's how the mobile game landscape is, since we have allowed it to get so bad. Thankfully MH:N is one of the better examples at the moment, with it only getting egregious around when you reach grade 6 equipment. Still a shame but it is what it is
Decent game, just wish you could do some stuff while in a car, instead of the entire game being locked. I get it for Pokémon Go, as it seemed like a reason to get people exercising and was a huge cultural phenomena, but I don't really get why it also needs to be a theme with this game. At least gathering the resource spots should be allowed imo.
Wasaa. I love your content. I have been palying for 3 days and the game is well made for a phone game. And the best part, its feels and looks like MHW.
The AR feature is now a required part of some quests, such as the one with the event today. BUT... it only works on samsung phones, google pixel phones and Iphones, so thats kind of lame.
Gathering supplies sux, in hr 44 and can't get enough supplies to get my gear high enough to kill the emergency Diablo, been stuck in that for weeks now 5 Star is to hard because I can't find enough supplies to upgrade my gear it weapons bones s are never found by me. This is clearly planned otherwise they wouldn't give you the option to double your rewards if you pay 300 per kill It the equivalent of 4sh usd. Per kill the way I figure it if I bought that every time, I wouldn't be so far behind the expected damage level. I say expected because they have be this diablos urgent quest around hr 35, almost 9 levels again. And the fact that he can and does 1 shot you, this battle can only be tried once per day as you only get 5 health potions for free after that it cost close to 2.25 USD, or $0.75 per one shot. The monsters are also scares. If your not and to be out and moving around there's only about 4 minutes you can okay then they fill your time with trash mini monsters that are 2 hits and didn't give you useful resources. So it's in average 1-2 large monsters per day. I will say the combat is fun, but it's so few and far in between 4 min a day off your stuck at work. And paintballs are provided but very few I think it's 3 a week. You can of course buy them. For 180 orbs, but orbs are 150 orbs for 2$ and 400 for 5$ . This have uses all the tricks of a predatory and immoral payment scheme. Supplies shortage if you didn't pay, products just over the cost of the purchase account making you buy more than you need and minimum payment but being enough always leaving recess orbs on your account just short of enough to use playing on your want to use sh the money you spent. You inability to actually progress without paying 2$ after every flight is beyond evil because it's but only pay 2 win, but it's free to download but pay to advance. No amount if grinding will let you keep up with game progress . I funny know about other monster Hunter games but this one is abuse of an IP to essentially play Pokemon with extra steps and a bit load of more money. Play sometime what this have isn't a game it's a credit card processing machine with high usage cost.. as each battle is only 75 seconds long but cost 2$ if you want to progress they expect you to pay 90$ an hour and I bet if you pay that 2$ more monsters show up su you can progress and pay more. Without paying that.. your hunting endangered species.
Bruh no Insect Glaive is ass though. It would probably have been hard to program it and make it feel like the IG though. Guess i'm going with the LBG lol
I'm sorry but I have to add you saying you can only buy gems once but that's not true. You buy once with extra bonus gems then it's to a set amount ie buy 750 gems get an extra 374 one time offer i hope the explanation was good enough
My only major concern is how they offer paintballs and an extremely convenient feature, then lock it away behind an expensive paywall…. Make paintballs a possible reward from tasks. That one change would make the game feel way less predatory… Ooh, also rework the speed limitation. I get some irresponsible people played Pokémon Go while driving, but what about others who play on the bus or riding passenger? What is the point of having the passenger warning, then completely lock all forms of gameplay. My suggestion is restrict players “Speeding” from hunting monsters, but allow us to gather resources from nodes. It pisses me off so much it says “Gameplay Is Limited” when ALL GAMEPLAY IS REMOVED! Not to mention how it can trigger while walking or hell even at home sometimes….
We cant really complain about the cash shop due to well they need to make money some way or another and well can anyone really come up with another method that people would actively buy into sure it sucks to have such predatory systems but what ever way can they do it without a subscription based system.
I quite like the game, its very fun, but as far as gems go ive havent gotten any more yet. The game has not rewarded me with any gems so am wondering how you even get more in the first place without paying.
In big cities like Osaka, where I live, no matter where you go, there are like 50 players almost all the time. so I mean, it's a Japanese game, they don't make changes like this and they have no intention to change the mechanics like mplayer without location, because then, the game loses its commercial purpose. it has been conceived as a GPS game, it's a Japanese GPS game and it will always be a Japanese GPS game. it will always be a Japanese GPS game, forever.
I feel like the only problem *Spoilers for item collection* Is that u barely get any potions 💀💀 like 5 First-Aids isint gonna last for a long time for someone that rushed to 5 stars cause he didnt know what he/I was doing.
Can there just be a game worth playing not made by Niantic? Maybe i just have a bitter bitter taste of how niantic has handled Go, but I think this is a pretty cool game and i would like to play it, but I know how niantic takes games and I am not sure i wanna get hooked only to get disappointed. Any recommendations to alternatives?
Honestly getting a little pissed off at mhn. The drop rates on rarity 4+ items is so garbage that it's been almost a week, and I have yet to upgrade my sword and board. Which sadly has soft locked me at the 4star sentient balloon. Cause I can't get rarity 4 drops to save my life. I just have to keep farming those 5 star Great Jag, and Clepto chicken.
Tried for a bit, didn't quite like the game play. I suck terribly at MH, but to me this game is just a bit too easy. I wish it has just a bit more to its combat, and it would be just right for me.
Honestly I’ve no idea how they made this game very good despite its issues but Pokémon go terrible. Yes I know that game is terrible. The monsters in monster hunter have all their correct weakness unlike in Pokémon Go. Battling is Action based in MH while pokemon is turn based which should’ve been easier to implement considering the amount of turn based games already out there for a phone yet it’s tapping. And they don’t even have their correct weakness or strengths.

I loved the video, I'm also loving Monster Hunter Now, the house I live in runs off of an old solar battery so I can't use my tv or console meaning I can't play monster hunter world, this is the closest I'll be getting for a while.
Seeing what happen to Pokemon Go is more likely the shop main purpose is to sell "spesial ticket" For more reward in events
Hey pal, I think the "One Time Only!" could be in reference to the extra gems, but I haven't and probably won't buy any so I don't know this for sure!
I think Now is a much better fit with Niantic's style of AR games than Pokemon ever was. Pokemon was never really 'about' the grind, it was about the bonds you had with your Pokemon and collecting em all. Monster Hunter, since 3, has been about the grind.
Now it have online. only 1 year later... but they have a lot of events and some "multiplayer". for me now it's fun.
Yup, I noticed it got annoying to get to grade 3 on weapons and armor.
Love your break down where I tried Pokémon go and monster hunter go 😂 but yo you did great in my mind to understand how this was a good understanding
I've been enjoying it so far! HR43 with a bow
I've been playing for a week now! I just wanna say yesterday I was HR 23 and I saw some nearby player needing some help, I was like "I could help that person I'm kinda good" then it was a rathalos 😂, I've never seen a 4* at that point and needless to say I got 1 shot 2 times.
I’m able to play the game, but every time I try to update the app, it says my device is incompatible. Bummer.
It’s a great mobile title. Hope more monster come next couple months
Galaxy a14 and got softlocked on the forging screen tutorial it won't let me select anything and what it wants me to select doesn't exist.
Still a shame but it is what it is
The gems buying once thing is ONLY for the bonus gems so yea thats that
Decent game, just wish you could do some stuff while in a car, instead of the entire game being locked.
I’m really enjoying this game. Pokémon Go got really stale. This game is the best of Pokémon Go. And a great take on MH. So far it’s great.
Super video! S erste resultat u de grad vom ne Schwizer!
Oh shit I just realized that me and Oceanz lived in the same country
Thanks, Alhamdulillah.
This guy read out loud all his newest patrons usernames? Respect
The one time only applies to the bonus gems you get
U can buy gem pace moltepol time but u get bonus 1 time.
Bruh no Insect Glaive is ass though. It would probably have been hard to program it and make it feel like the IG though. Guess i'm going with the LBG lol
Dont worry Oceaniz! My pixel 7 (11 month old phone) also only pulls 30 FPS LOL
they gotta amp up the rewards, cuz 1000 zeni and 2 mid rewards every 10 lvls and after 50 u get no rewards is kinda lame
Thank you for the info.
The moto g play - 2023 android device I use doesn't allow me to even download it 😢
I'm sorry but I have to add you saying you can only buy gems once but that's not true. You buy once with extra bonus gems then it's to a set amount ie buy 750 gems get an extra 374 one time offer i hope the explanation was good enough
Yeah potion is aight, but it's kinda scumy when there's 30% lock
My only major concern is how they offer paintballs and an extremely convenient feature, then lock it away behind an expensive paywall….
Make paintballs a possible reward from tasks. That one change would make the game feel way less predatory…
Ooh, also rework the speed limitation.
Do you haave a referal code since i downloaded the game after watching this
I quite like the game, its very fun, but as far as gems go ive havent gotten any more yet. The game has not rewarded me with any gems so am wondering how you even get more in the first place without paying.
Misunderstanding with the gems. You can purchase that deal once then it reverts to whatever it is before the deal
For a mobile game, especially a niantic game, this game's pretty fun. Great sword kinda plays like ass, but I'm a LS main so I don't care
I love how your non-ecology videos have funny sound effects
eyy i didn’t know that you live in Switzerland! Liebi Grüess us züri!🇨🇭
Personally it is a bit annoying you only get things like paintballs and wander orbs only like every ten levels
I highly recommend people to take their time playing and don't rush "late game"
You should have Played the game, make it rank 5 weapons and armor, and then you should have done the review
Alles klar er ist schweizer auch was neues gelernt
In big cities like Osaka, where I live, no matter where you go, there are like 50 players almost all the time. so I mean, it's a Japanese game, they don't make changes like this and they have no intention to change the mechanics like mplayer without location, because then, the game loses its commercial purpose. it has been conceived as a GPS game, it's a Japanese GPS game and it will always be a Japanese GPS game. it will always be a Japanese GPS game, forever.
i play this game, and its fun, but everytime i open it and wait for it to load i have a sad feeling of wanting to play MH6 not this replacement
As someone who has speedrun Alatreon in MH3 in 2:46 and is Level 50 In Pokemon Go, this game was practically made for someone like me.
Do we earn crypto playing this or is it just a normal game?
U can play with people that far from u by make a party
If it wasn't a mobile game with pay to progress mechanics, I'd play. Those alone are alone for me to stay away, especially after being burnt by POGO
I feel like the only problem *Spoilers for item collection*
Is that u barely get any potions 💀💀 like 5 First-Aids isint gonna last for a long time for someone that rushed to 5 stars cause he didnt know what he/I was doing.
I emulate the old games in my phone to play MH
Can there just be a game worth playing not made by Niantic? Maybe i just have a bitter bitter taste of how niantic has handled Go, but I think this is a pretty cool game and i would like to play it, but I know how niantic takes games and I am not sure i wanna get hooked only to get disappointed. Any recommendations to alternatives?
Ride the wave and toss it when it sucks
i cant Name my palico 0 stars
Wait, you live in Switzerland?
If Monster Hunter Now does well (which I'm sure it will), I hope it gets nominated for Best Mobile Game at the Game Awards 2023.
Edit:
It did!
i want to play this but I cant because I have PokemonGo and I have.... uh... lets just say not the store version haha.
Same stuck at 4 star monsters because i can't upgrade my weapons to kill 5 star monsters unless im crazy lucky.Been stuck for a week now.
Nice review.
