Im running Lance/GS with my build and racked up heavy kills with both. 600 the past month with Lance. I've fought Black Diablos, Pink Rathian, and Azire Rathalos
Converted to LS main for SnS is a huge dps difference. Still have the sns to slap on if I want to focus on partbreak or status, but melting through monster after 10 seconds of spiritgauge building up is massive
I main bow but have a zinogre long sword for WGS farming on pukei and rath (tail cuts). The hardest part about LS is resisting the urge to use spirit blade 3 and non special helm splitter at the wrong times because you will get punished for doing it more often than not. Also, fade slash replacing your backwards roll when you are mid combo is hard to get used to as well but is added damage if used right.
Lance is sck, but i upgrade it. high defense and high grade weapon save me many potion usage. I can hunt 10-20 8star low tier monster without using potion (if not missplay)
I think Lance has advantages that I think is overlooked ... 1. unless out of range Lance will 100% hit where u lock-on ... taking Kulu holding the stone, all weapons (except Lance) will hit stone regardless of lock-on, on other occasion even with lock-on does not always hit the lock-on spot 2. still honoring the author analysis, I thinking of trying offensive Lance rather Defensive ... Lance make up loss of attack speed of Sword/Shield with accuracy & increase range 3. I am not sure whether you ppl know Lance has a 5-combo-hit charging skill ... hold and release a little distance from monster and you will perform 5-combo-hit skill 4. The charging skill will chase monster that like “running away", without you having to tap/swap to catch up will monster, still unsure whether during the charge has other coupled effect (example shield you from blind effect of Tzitzi-Ya-Ku or maybe negating frontal attacks) 5. With proper handling, I think Lance can move up a tier
So Lance needs a rebalance. Due to RSS i main sword and shield tho id like to use the lance more often. I do agree the duel blades need the buttons seprated and we need to be able to actually run. Other games have the joy stick option on top of dodge and hold to charge.
I have a lance build guard +4/5 (if coil is swapped) special attack boost +4 lock on (can be swapped) for me this build offsets the lack of damage of the lance. And I use pukei lance for good measure, anything that can chip off the monster's HP helps.
The hammer could be an A list with gyro active. Due to the omni-directional movements which when manipulated fix the reach the hammer gets which feels slightly too short imo... I ran hammer about 70hunts before i rurned gyro on for it. Im over 2.1k on gyroscope hunts now on hammer alone and becauee ive done this ive grown to stay with hammer... if the hammer performed just as same as it does with lock on qith gyro and i had no Omnidirectional movements... then i would have moved on from hammer. I agree with "lock on" the hammer sits buttom tier with g.s. 💯% As you know i farm my life away wirh partbreaker... so i run weapons that give me good break values....and tank them biased on that and the functionality with gyro... D.B sits bottom for me on gyro hands down as well as for partbreaker... D.B are soo bad with gyro on ... even the Omnidirectional dodging feels different then the rest of weapons on d.b. Have you tried doing the dodges that curve with gyro? LIFE SAVER WHEN ON THE EDGE OF MAP
I honestly believe LBG with armor that builds reload lv3 and forgets recoil down is still competitive. I never take any damage on anything 4* and below (currently a 6* hunter) and the recoil is useful for dancing out of range of sweeping attacks that would otherwise catch me. If I get too far I just jump forward and repeat the process. Maybe it's because I'm still a 6* hunter but even with the nerfs it feels as powerful and safe as ever.
Yes i followed some LS users to watch their amazing gameplay, people said "hey are you from future? You beat it till last second without any damage!" Their sword play n evade are legend
LS highlights are so satisfying to watch haha! I wish the sns could switch it's aerial follow up attack with a slashing attack too not just the shield slam haha!
I dont know if I agree with the placement of SNS and Dual Blades. Not based on on my own liking, but based on the reason provided. SNS is placed in a high tier because of its "versatility," and I get that. That's always been the weapon's niche. Jack of all trades, and even getting to use items when unsheathed in some titles. But that makes sense in a mainline game. In this game, DPS is king, not versatility, and you say as much, when you put LS and Bow in really high placements. Versatility and stuns and blocking roars are all nice, until you can't defeat an 8 star because you're a few seconds shy of the timer, but can complete the same hunt with Dual Blades that are almost a full grade lower. You yourself said that Dual Blades do more damage than SNS, but rate it lower because of "high risk high reward." But your number one melee weapon is the riskiest melee weapon in the game with the highest reward. The logic here with those two weapons seems way off, and it seems a though SNS was placed there for popularity, more than the actual strength of the weapon.
Sns is in a mid tier because it doesn't have a lot of DPS, but it can do a lot to support the team. Its versatility makes up for the dps it's lacking. For the Dual blades, i disagree. Imo the dual blades is the riskiest weapon as it locks you in combos while the LS you can just sheath your weapon and wait for the monster to attack, and it rewards you with a lot of damage. Im not saying the SNS is good or the dual blades are bad. Im just saying they are not as good as the other weapons. They have downsides, unlike the top tier weapons.
Considering the nerf to blocking (increased chip damage when blocking), do you think the Sword and Shield is still S tier? I am still considering if I should main it or not.
DB can access demon mode and hit special with 0 stamina. Additionally, you can keep entering demon mode on 0 stamina and perform a full combo before getting out of it. It also charges your special gauge the fastest out of all the weapon types and cleaves tails like no other. All of that AND it js the second strongest raw weapon in the game, only out performed by the bow, because black Diablos bow is simply broken. I might be a little biased, but personally, the only weapons I would put in S tier are the bow and db. LS is too risky and requires a huge skill level to be useful, where as the sns just simply lacks damage when dealing with monsters that are 8* +. While I agree with you that the status weapons are fun to play, and I was an sns main, using paralysis and poison. That was until I got up to 8* monsters, at which point I hit a wall and couldn't progress. With regular Diablos DB 7/5 I could kill almost any 8* monster, and now that I finally got my hands on some wyvern gems, I can take out 8*s with ease, using a 8/2 db.
Yeah i also struggled against 8 stars using my grade 8 girros sns. I regret upgrading it haha. Now im switching to elemental builds and i can hunt 8 stars using 7/5 elemental weapons
As someone who used each weapon a hundred times just to unlock medals, my take for each... SnS = A really good and versatile weapon, that leaves you with little to no regret, the only downside for me is the number of taps on the screen. DB = I only used this for a quick kill while having 80% area focus or while walking leaving 20% focus in game, just by swipping left or right nonstop while in demon mode. GS = the most less attractive weapon for me. LS = It does everything for me from cutting tails to serious fight. Hammer is my 2nd favored weapon after LS until... Lance, I almost favored this weapon over the others including, until I used it on certain monsters with a 2 star gap like black diablos, zinogre and azure rathalos. Light Bowgun and Bow, while still having a poor set and not having any elemental advantages these weapons can get the job done really fast, safe, simple and easy, giving me a dilemma to invest in armors that have focus, reloads and recoils. I favor the Bow more but i just can't ignore the potential of light bowgun.
There no worse or best IMO, bcus each people have their own best playstyle..for me i build greatsword and bow, because i like 1 hit charge massive damage rather than atk speed
SNS is like your childhood sweetheart, easy to understand and easy to handle when you just started the game with, but she will lose her advantage as you progress farther in game while LS start to show up and dominate, LS just like the lady that appear halfway in game with higher levels and damage which seducing you to give up on SNS and turn to LS 😏😏😏

DB in particular has fantastic damage potential with either Burst 5 or Ele ATK 5 builds on par with Bow/LS. I think the number one mistake people make with DB is not utilizing the backwards dodge in Demon Mode which has excellent i-frames. Demon Flurry Rush should be used to reposition while maintaining Burst and avoid hitboxes completely, and only used to i-frame if you are 100% confident in your ability to perfect dodge that attack. Most JP tier lists are placing DB on par with LS, with both just below Bow which we all know is OP.
I will not have this Lance slander haha it's definitely better than GS and the hammer. Forging a lance has been quite game changing for me since it helps me hunt Diablos, Titziyaku and Odogaron much easier, aside from that I just mainly use Bow and LS for other large monsters.

@ArkadianGames glad to see new players! For new players, i recommend sns weapons you can easily farm and upgrade. You can start off with girros sns if you want to paralyze monsters. The jagras sns is also great when fighting monsters weak against water. Once you have a strong water sns, you can farm tobi for your first thunder sns so you can hunt rathalos and rathian. But you should quickly replace these sns for stronger elemental weapons when you can :)
@PauwerPlays thank you! Awesome advice! 😊 I'm currently using the Bone GL, as I was able to upgrade it to grade 5! And it's my highest dmg dealer right now 😊 But I feel like I really need to work on my elemental dmg weapons now! 😅
Ehhh, I wouldn’t rank LS that high cuz since it relies on counters, it highly depends on how cooperative the game’s lag spikes are lmao. One badly timed spike and you’re losing your whole health bar for something outside of your control
For me as a bow-main the only hard monster is zinogre cause hunt-a-thons suck hard and the ranged-weak-spot of zinogre is so damn tiny....😅 but i'm happy though cause today my first WGS dropped just after my 5th or 6th ever killed 8*💪🔥😁 think that drained all my luck of this year😂😂😂😂

Para SnS g 10 kills all the 9 stars. Everything 10 star needs perfect Everything and their Elemental weakness at least G10 4/5. So good luck. The end game is real af. 9 kulu is harder to kill than most 9s under Anjanath so I just leave it alone. Idk what to do against 10star kulu and beyond. I guess i shoulda made bow instead of making 3 G10 SnS weapons being girros, jyuratodus, and rathian and a few G9 of other stuff. Need to preserve those red gems lol.

It hurts lance even more when you fail to perfect guard since you get chip damage. When you fail to perfect dodge, you still get to dodge the attack without taking any chip.
I think long sword and dual blade is in the same category of high risk high reward. Both weapons are S tier in the hand of skilled player, but B tier in the hand of unskilled player.
Honestly don’t even bother aiming it’s weak spot. Goal is to remove the mud from it as quickly as possible so it takes more damage. You won’t get part breaks but who the hell needs barroth parts anyway
@@PauwerPlays not arguing over its use or utility just the idea that you can block a roar with a shield yet somehow range players super far away are still affected by roar makes no logical sense
LBG main here Drop reload use Element 5, learn to dodge and you are fine. Still sucks in Mobs like Kulu or Radobaan since nerf, but before that this was anyhow the stronger build.
@@rasenkin9607 Without the Black Diablos bow, I can truly say that. GS has the highest potential to outplay and deal an insane level of damage but you just have to be insanely good.
Is lance the worst weapon? Probably. I don’t think it’s as bad as people say it is though. Chip and low damage can be can be fixed semi resolved by resentment. The best build imo is radobaan helm and greaves, black diablos chest, rathian gloves, and diablos waist. You could swap the waist and gloves for black diablos waist for lockon and then use the banbaro gloves for additional offensive guard and tremor resistance but at the cost of burst which doesn’t proc that much with lance
Burst is not advisable for lance. Resentment is not worth the chip unless you max it out. The best builds for lance is max offensive guard or max elemental damage with lvl3 guard from radobaan pieces

True but i think LS edges DB because it has the counter and it gets rewarded with a lot of damage for it
Long sword my favorite 😍
Well... except for fighting barroth bow is good...
That mud is really annoying to remove haha!
@@PauwerPlays not only that... the target is that tiny moving hand... with a piercing bow... any tips to consistently kill it?
Honestly don’t even bother aiming it’s weak spot. Goal is to remove the mud from it as quickly as possible so it takes more damage. You won’t get part breaks but who the hell needs barroth parts anyway
my best weapon is sword and shield
Sns is so good in mhnow!
I was hoping you were gunna go through the best Weapons for each one. :(
Lance is the best weapon because i main it!
Does anybody knows if Vmos pro + Fake Gps are still working?
🤔 test on new account with an alt phone
ok, thanks ill try that.@@Zypherfox1
Greatsword for life
Being able to block a roar with a shield makes no sense whatsoever
It's the shock wave you block 🤣
But funny enough the skill to negate roars is called earplugs 😂😂
@@PauwerPlays not arguing over its use or utility just the idea that you can block a roar with a shield yet somehow range players super far away are still affected by roar makes no logical sense
@@PauwerPlays if it was the shockwave the animation shouldn't be acting like it's too loud 😂
@Panzer_Z yep! I didnt understand your comment at first my bad! 😅
Greatsword=best
All other weapons = 🗑️
😌
Great sword hits different when you those massive numbers
And yet, hammer got nerfed...so stupid.
Swag axe is S
i think DBs is better than LS imo.
Ngl, sounds like a skill issue with the dual blades and hammer bud
LBG is such a trash tier weapon. They nerfed it to utter garbage. It does so little damage and has no value. What a waste. It's hopeless.
LBG main here
Drop reload use Element 5, learn to dodge and you are fine.
Still sucks in Mobs like Kulu or Radobaan since nerf, but before that this was anyhow the stronger build.
BS Greatsword is stronger than bow.
are you out of you're mind ?
