Bobby, Proton engineers can keep up. The 2019 Iriz and Persona just proves that. I guess that last time, their spending / investment was limited due to their size. Now backed by Geely, things are looking brighter.
Has been driving X70 for almost 2 weeks. Love the handling and smooth driving experience on highway.
Totally agree with u on the handling. On normal driving the suspension does not behave like it can handle a corner or two. However when we throw it at corners, it lough back at u with its surprising body control.

Having driven the X70 on the same route, it simply is one of the better handling, more refined cars out there. In fact we love it so much we bought this instead of the Tiguan instead.
Can this variant carries 4 adults up to Genting effortless?? Please do give me an idea as I am considering to buy. Thank you. :)
@@ELGtheMAN quite effortless. Depends on what you're used to obviously. Because compared to a Porsche Cayenne obviously it's not as fast. But this is very nice to go uphills in actually.

@@ELGtheMAN honestly speaking, 4WD is kinda redundant driving in Malaysia, while it might offer you better grip it's only better if it's on the limit-limit. With so much electronic aids like ESC, TRC etc, it has no issues whatsoever. Plus you need to pay more for maintenance, more weight, more fuel consumption too. Personally the best value X70s are the Standard and Premium imho.

Appreciate your thoughts sharing with us, the information that you have been share about the automobil industry what make china car maker expand their business...from just only compete among themselves, now going to global..and then now we still hard to believe with less then 20 years there can produce a product that compete not only with Japanese but its nearly with European car maker...how lucky we are as a Proton lover being a group of Geely, that we can see the lights of the future for the Protons brand

Since it's a turbocharger,, the wastegate sound are normal ..I'm glad cause X70 have a turbocharger.. I have test drove X70 and it's great bobby 😎👍

X70 is so great then X50 will be the real challenger to other car makers, either Japan or Korea. Time will tell especially for the price range of 68k to 88k RM.

The transmission isn't a CVT, but rather a 6 speed torque converter
Yeah my fault .... the way it reacts at kick down reminded me so much of typical CVTs that i kept saying it wrongly afters...

@@samueltan2148But I think Bobby should know it's a 6AT because back then he and Kon went to a showroom to test drive the X70 and then I remember they did talk about the conventional automatic behaving like those u find in older Camrys (I think they were talking about the XV40). I remember they said it does the job, but not too smooth.

Well said Bobby. Just like yesteryear when Japan SONY were one of the few big players in the smartphone market. Today, most chinese phone manufacturer has managed to capture majority of the mobile market.
Sony and Panasonic no longer make their own tv panels. They all assembled their TVs using either Chinese/Taiwanese or Korean panels. Chinese and Korean companies now dominate the consumer electronics industry.

I wonder if Geely will handles the 2nd generation Iriz, if they really did, with Iriz's superb handling and Geely's superb overall quality, i think we can expect very interesting competition in b-segment hatchback market
Lasse K put the 1.8 turbo in and market it as hot hatch. Sell it for 65-70k and it will fly off the shelves.

Hi Bobby, did you mention that the gear will still upshift automatically even if you are in manual mode?
Does it also downshift automatically if you brake or slow down too quickly.
Btw, do you ever get spending tickets when you test drive these cars?

X70 can be value as much as CR-V with a cheaper price. It can be sold well even in china I think. Should gelly sell this hot products in China for the limited edition series of events like Malaysia China collaboration car design. Many people in China interested in this gorgeous car.
Hi Bobby, thank you for a very positive impression of the Proton X70. I got my Flame Red just a month ago & my first 1k servicing is due this Saturday. I have been driving the Proton Exora for almost 10 years this year. I just compare between the Exora & the X70. The X70 is so refined & a class of its own! I just hoped that Proton can upkeep this high standard with the next local assembly batch.

I'm considering to buy one too. But still in doubt, better to buy CBU or CKD ? Will the CKD perform just the same way like CBU ? What are the possible differences between those two ? My sales agent is waiting for my green light 😅
Well, we won't be sure of the CKDs/CBUs yet till they are available for comparison. So far, my Premium Flame Red has been satisfactory. Let's wait & see!!
Hi Bobby. Can you please revisit the review of the FC of this X70 by using it on a daily basis every morning during the rush hour and evening rush hour. See how much mileage you are able to clock in a full tank of 50 litre. In my experience comparing to my existing 2012 AWD CRV, this X70 is a petrol guzzler.

Last few months ago I was invited and meet one of Proton director he told me that lucky this X70 model able to make proton sustain . Upon that day the moment i open the X70 door and I feel that it was a Volkswagen behind the curtain of Proton X70.

I just booked my x70.
The build. It is par with continenal cars. Leaving japanese car way behind.. Im still amaze with it. I check out my friend car yesterday. I used to work with many continental especially germany. And yes if not par maybe sub par. From what proton used to build before to this? That is 10 years leaps they made.

From what i heard proton send 40 over engineers to geely, to improve and twek the boyue chasis and handling to become proton X70, over 200 improvement have been made,so X70 would be better than boyue.

I would go with X70 as their service centers and support coverage are heaps more compared to Haval, since they've acquired proton.

I think Proton is very powerful now and no Bobby proton’s engineers have not become obsolete, the 2019 Iriz and Persona proves that. The iriz already had awesome handling and was fun to drive, with the added safety features new infotainment system and an overall classier cabin thanks to Geely it is now the full package, I cannot wait for the X50 and potentially X90

G will harness P's in-house engineering talents n re invent it by their template. Keep out meddling amno politicians, n continue to filter out swamp creatures within the Supply Chain. Hi Bobby, how would you compare x70 with older forester?
X70 has a more luxurious and comfortable cabin. Feels more like a European car. Forester is like any Subaru, superior mechanicals in the undercarriage and a spartan simple interior.

How does this guy handling/driving experience compared to Peugeot 3008?
No where near the 3008. I was expecting the X70 to be clumsy and unsorted, but was genuinely surprised it turned out decent, clean and tidy. The 3008 is well engineered and handles just as good as the CX5.

Different level. In terms of build quality, noise insulation, comfort,ride and packaging... CRV is like rubbish compared to the X70.
CRV also feels one size larger. But yeah, seats, panels everything, X70 feels like a premium car

Bobby it's a 1.8 turbo with 6AT. I'm surprised you said this chassis is good because this ain't even from Volvo's SPA platform. And your silence and sudden giggles when driving shows how well this car is.
