Really good drive uncle. Honking to allow other driver know our existance. Many will think this honking is scaring people off but it is actually opposite. Just to warn some drivers who might not well aware of their surroundings. Ironically some drive will get intimidated when we honk them but I still do it if really necessary. This X70 have solid chassis that helps in you handling so firmly through bents.
I ve taken it to heights u cannot acheive in malaysia.. Pakistani northern areas are very ruff n rigid.. Took it to shogran and babusar too and hunza valley .. Only got a wet clutch warning after driving through floods. Other day after it dried out it vanished.. X70 was gud

no doubt of this proton x70...this car is amazing..from outside view can really see it's stable taking all the corner..performance is acceptable for SUV...very impressed
i like the way u put cameras on the road..maybe can collaborate with Genting management utilizing their cameras for better video shooting..

I hope you can test drive the X70 CKD when it's launch early next year.. I read they will be using the 1.5 TGDi with 7 Speed DCT and also Proton Ride and Handling instead of MIRA UK handling....
The CKD is already out.

It'll be nice to get a feedback on how the engine & gearbox perform on those demanding hill climb
Uncle, do you usually turn off the electronic nannies when doing the climb? How intrusive were they in keeping the car in check through the high speed run? I still would've liked if Proton/Geely put shifter paddles on the steering at least & top spec X70 deserves a 4wd in my opinion. 1.7 ton for an SUV is not too bad, I once drove my dad's Land Cruiser that's close to 3 tonne to Genting & that will put your fear into God if you go faster than 80km/h hahaha.
Ok, I will try it answer this long comment: I normally don't turn them off - some cars don't allow that anyway. The TRC and ESC's work on speed and steering angle sensing, generally, and as long as you keep your steering angles decent, the system does not kick in. Once or twice in my tests I have seen the lights blink, and felt it kick in, but that was perhaps due to a wet surface or I went in a little too hot, but it is momentary only. I would say it is okay to have them there just as a reassurance, but it does not really matter to me.
The weight, in today's context, is slightly high, but only by a little. I am sure subsequent models will be about a 100 kg less, at least; the current value package is truly unbeatable though.
As for AWD, it is a costing strategy. I too would like AWD and top spec, but cost would be higher. Honda uses the same strategy of using fwd for the top of the range. Who knows, perhaps top of range with top trim and AWD may sell even better. Let's see who dares!

Here’s to hoping that Proton would finally push other manufacturers to provide even better value for money-to-specs cars for some of those brands out there have been resting on their laurels for far too long without really innovating/giving that many options for consumers.

Hi Uncle Khong, can you do a video about How to use the + and - from the transmission box, also secondly, how to use a pedal shifter? i can't seems to find video in youtube that can do a good explanation about this 2. it would be great if you could make this video going uphill in genting. Thanks :)
Actually there is really nothing to show, which explains why there is no video by anybody.
It's about selecting the right gear to engage for each corner; same with the paddle shifters. The use of plus minus and paddles are on the same principle of using gears in a manual.
Go drive a manual transmission.
The X70 drives extremely well . Consider its price 👍

Hi uncle ys maybe you can do a comparison and give your judgement of each suv doing genting climb ie Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V, Nissan x-trail, Volkswagen Tiguan with proton x70
Hahaha, good suggestion, but we are doing qualitative testing, not quantitative, so results will be hotly disputed. I am a peaceful person, looking to live a peaceful life, hahaha.

Genting, try Mount KK, Kundasang, Kennigau, and Tambunan la. Then you'll know why Sabahan need and have that many 4x4 cars.

i notice the rear of this X70 is borrowing design from Kia Seltoe, though I only notice a fair bit of body roll during some cornering, with saying that the car is sound like struggling in high rev area.

Maybe in your future videos, you can put a speed indicator on the video just so we know how fast you're going so that we can tell whether the car can take the speeding and cornering or not .. hehe

Uncle, may I know at what speed & rpm you climb the mountain? & Should've drive all the way up especially those few final steep corner ..
We normally don't go all the way up because it takes too long a time, and there is oncoming traffic in some places.
For the gears and rpm, the best guide is to try to keep the rpm in the power band. If not sure, use auto mode and let the vehicle decide.
Finally, please note some videos or parts may have been sped up for dramatic effect; please do not attempt any of the driving styles as they are all performed by professional drivers.

Going downhill, .... make sure your brake don't overheated..... I don't know how to ensure that. Is it something displayed on the dashboard ? Can someone enlighten me on this issue, please.

i am from pakistan and when proton x70 is launched in pakistan i consider to buy this for supporting muslim country industry but when i do little research for faults of proton i heard about proton x70 break failures and read Malaysian people comment in which they complaining about poor build quality of proton x70 .. that proton x70 could not spend only 2 or 3 years and get many issues .... and many other comments like that..this comment change my mind and i'm not considering proton x70 any more ... if you guys know about that proton quality is getting better and they resolve issues in proton do let me know .... Thank you

@@YSKhongDriving correct uncle. You tested, try to push the limit to fully understand the capability of the car. In the same time, you changed lane while taking the corners and this is dangerous especially to other card. Not to mention the speed limit you broke.
