Okay, I'm not gonna lie, I was casually watching this and then the moment it got to "The Winning Season" I saw one of the scenes and my immediate reaction was, "huh, why does that school gym look familiar?" Then I took an even closer look and realized this looks exactly like the school gym of the high school I went to and I legit had a panic attack. Edit: Looked into some of the other scenes you showed in the video and yeah I'm 99.9% certain they shot the movie at my high school. What the fuck is going on.

As a kid I was SHOCKED the Double Teamed twins (actresses) weren’t real sisters. My kid brain never thought they looked too old for high school and adult brain is surprised the actresses were almost 10 years apart in age. I always loved that movie so much and felt it was too underrated
first i was unsettled by the coach being sprayed in the face with a hose by her student/player then i was more unsettled by everything about Juwanna Mann eventually i thought that i had reached maximum un-settled-ness over the Chris Brown misogynoir pinkwashing PR project but ultimately i may have been the most unsettled by how low that fence seemed at the edge of what appeared to be a public park up against water... i mean, how many basketballs wind up in the drink there each day? that has to be a very non-zero number. so many games cut short. so many new-kid-who-has-to-prove-themself types being dared to go swimming and retrieve balls from the East River.🌊🏀 (other than that, everything else is a delight, as always, hah)
The whole binge was one unsettling experience after another, watching movies is traumatic work!!! 😮💨 Also I thought the same thing!!! Although “Double Teamed” (hate that title tho) is a really mid movie, I have to give it to Disney for making some of the only positive portrayals of girls in sports in the 00s. Not all the movies are perfect, and a lot of them fall into stereotypes, but movies like “Rip Girls” and “Go Figure” were some of my faves as a kid because they made me feel like I could actually do this stuff!
I never played basketball but I am a volleyball player and coach and I've steered clear of all of those because film doesn't depict volleyball well (and most times the filmmakers don't know how the game works), but if you made a video on volleyball movies I'd really like to watch. My brother and I rewatched it last year on Disney+ out of boredom and it’s perfectly fine! We laughed at a lot of the production things that made no sense and stuff we didn’t remember being in it at all 😂 It didn’t have the biggest budget but it’s a cute, rainy day TV movie that you’d watch with your family or something

What i find interesting is that with the huge explosion of Rocky knockoffs for kids in the 90s, we never got a girls' basketball one. i guess in general they were mainly focused on boys (even if there were some girls involved), like Little Big League or Rookie of the Year or The Mighty Ducks. And no, The Sandlot doesn't count as part of this trend because that's actually a boomer nostalgia period piece disguised as a kids' movie. Also it's a way better movie than any of those~

What i find interesting is that with the huge explosion of Rocky knockoffs for kids in the 90s, we never got a girls' basketball one. i guess in general they were mainly focused on boys (even if there were some girls involved), like Little Big League or Rookie of the Year or The Mighty Ducks.
And no, The Sandlot doesn't count as part of this trend because that's actually a boomer nostalgia period piece disguised as a kids' movie. Also it's a way better movie than any of those~

My wifey got me into watching WNBL (Australian Women's b-ball) and despite me not giving a stuff about sport it's really fun to watch together. A lot of our great players go play in the US during our off-season, keep an eye out for Cayla George and Annali Maley if you ever end up watching RL womens NBA
