I feel like resisting temptation goes way beyond sex. Is about not disobeying, not going against hierarchy, against god and stuff like that. You cannot have a personality, identity anything. Way before I even discovered my sexuality I already felt like I was being wrong and it was too hard to do things as people told me to. I mean, I understand what you're saying but I think sex is just one thing among a lot of others you're not allowed to do while raised by church or conservative parents. Sometimes we get to the point where we end up performing sex just to get somewhat free from the pressure, it's not even because we want to, but because the prohibition is so intense that having sex feels freeing in a way.
Nothing was more ace than when the scene where a bunch of men talk about sex was playing and the aces just got distracted by a dog coming into the room
Yeah this movie seems mad relatable I’ll have to check it out. Tho they missed the part where you research sex facts for hours so you can convince people you’re a certified sex haver, so you don’t get made fun of by everyone you know 😢
I'm not ace, but even watching this movie as a teenager going through puberty, I thought it was really sad how they showed him having a full enjoyable life, but apparently it was all meaningless because he's never had sex. Like the joke was supposed to be "Haha look at this NERD painting his little figures!" and I was just like what is wrong with enjoying painting little things? They never showed him as feeling like his life was lacking without sex. It was only once he started getting peer pressured that there was something wrong with the way he was living his life, and that just makes those coworkers shitty friends.
And as a person who does enjoy sex, it annoys the hell out of me that it's treated like the greatest thing in life. There's a lot of great things in life.
it should be made specfically by queer people who know nothing about straight cis men, like if you're lgbt+ but you have even a remotely realistic idea of straight cis men, you don't get the job
Kink is how many ace people experience intimacy though. So some ace people may actually "immediately start with kink." There is no universal truth or common experience when discussing asexuality.
@@TinyGhostysure, but typically not from being a virgin with NO sexual experience. Typically, you would have dipped ties in the water and realized you don’t like the typical stuff so then you figure out your kink. It’s not common ace people would discover their kink before having any sexual experience whatsoever.
@@Duckduckobtusegoose I actually disagree on the assumption that people find kink through sexual experience instead of kink itself. Maybe it used to be that way, but online communities around kink are easy to find and ace communities within kink are strong. I am sure there are plenty of ace people right now in time experiencing kink completely detached from anything else. If you are an ace person into kink I would be interested in why you think kink and sex are so interconnected when they are not. Even allosexuals participate in sexless kink, rope especially is a community for that.
Uh, you would and should give more warning than "I'm going to suck on your toes" and then start sucking on toes. She is the giver in that scene and should have given him a proper talk about what to expect from it. You do NOT just immediately jump into the scene without any discussion and anybody who does that is doing kink wrong, full stop, no arguments permitted. Safe and sane is the first rule and someone who does not have the full information of what is going to be happening to them and their body is being taken advantage of and cannot give their informed and enthusiastic consent, sorry not sorry. This isn't acephobia, do not try to imply this is acephobia, this is doing kink safely in a way that isn't assault. @@TinyGhosty
Carell's character does not seek out sexual and/or kink materials. Trying to pretend that the majority of online kink material does not appear on pornographic sites is nonsense. He doesn't watch porn, he doesn't go to porn sites, he doesn't know what kink is because those are the most readily accessible sources of kink material. His entire concept of interpersonal physical intimacy, sexual or no, is from what he gleans from conversations with his friends. This man *cannot give informed consent to kink*. He can *barely* give informed consent to sex and even that is a really murky subject because he is shown in the film to have not received adequate sexual education. Every asexual person in that room commented on it: even they know how to apply a condom. There is no way to justify jumping directly into kink with this character, sorry not sorry. He can't consent, he doesn't know what it is and what happens during it and what could happen during it.
In this movie its actually a metaphor though. Andy's attachment to his collectibles represents his inability to take risks and experience life. its not about the fact that he owns a bunch of toys, its that they are all in their packaging where he has never even been able to enjoy them. Of course IRL there's nothing wrong with keeping your collectibles in the packaging if that's what makes you happy, but it serves a purpose in the story outside of "haha he has toys, what a nerd"
As an ace guy I'm glad there weren't any guys on the couch because when we might not have had the amazing conversation where four ace women try to figure out how erections work
Something wholesome that you forgot or maybe didn’t see: In the Age of Aquarius number, the trans woman comes back, and gives him a big ole hug and smile. It was cute to include her in the happiness he was having. The jokes about her didn’t age well, but scenes including her were wholesome.
@@JayR.-fk7vt I get what you are saying, but for me, as a queer person, I feel like every time I hear those jokes, I wonder if the people off camera feel the same way. That being said, I do believe Judd and the crew did have some empathy for trans people, and I wish he had shown it more by leaving in that deleted scene.
@@JayR.-fk7vt I know what you mean, but they are still the protagonists and the world is presented from their eyes. Joking at the expense of someone still normalizes it, even if we're not supposed to root for the characters.
This is what alosexual men don't get it. They think not showing interest makes women like them, but it is just the fact he's is not in "chasing mode" helps.
@@acompleterandom7360 I consider myself abrosexual witch is very similar. Another one is the graysexual. All of those refer to people who experience assexuality for a certain period of time. For example, you may experience like a month, a semester or a whole year without feeling any attraction towards another person. For some people you may not have a sex drive at all during this time. For others you may feel the need to orgasm but not need someone else for it. The diference between the three would be the frequence and which phase is more lasting for you. (Alosexual or Asexual)
@@Dionaea_M I thought asexuality was just about being sexually attracted to someone else, not ones own sexdrive? Or did I misunderstand something just now?
@acompleterandom7360 Maybe I didn't express myself correctly?? It's bcs english isn't my first language so I'm doing my best >.< I was trying to explain exactly that some people have sex drives and some do not and that is not necessarily related to your asexuality. Because it's a common misconception. The fact that you have the urge of doing something with yourself or that you don't does not define how you feel towards other people. And the sexuality is about the attraction to other people!! I think there is a specific name for the having or not having sex drive thing but I don't remember it right now.
@@acompleterandom7360Sexuality is inward, non-targetted while attraction absolutely is, even if it doesn't have to be a specific person. The prefix a- means the absence of, an absence of sexuality understood purely in terms of physical.. fornicating. We now understand sexualities go beyond the physical act of having sex but the definition still stands. Attraction is understood as something transient, outwards, dependent on the target, not the source. Sexuality can and often is fluid but it's changes are connected to person's identity and inner world, rather than presence or absence of the right person. I think a lot of people who struggle with mental health have experienced periods of low sexual drive that could lead to them identifying as asexual (at least for that for that period) even if person they are/were attracted to is still present in their lives. For some people it takes a long time to realise that they are asexual and their previous sex experiences were results of different pressures and needs.
As a person who is asexual and doesn't have any asexual friends, it was really comforting to see a group of asexual people in this video series of making LGBTQIA+ watch movies. At times, it can feel like I'm the only person in the world who doesn't particularly care for sex and it also doesn't help that there is such little asexual representation in the media so watching this and just seeing other people like me was so reliving and made me feel less alone. I really appreciate this video series and get so excited whenever you make a new one. It's such a comfort series for me!!
I know the feeling. It really does get quite lonely feeling like you're the only one around who doesn't care for sex. I really hope that in the future there's more representation of us in media and I hope you're able to befriend some fellow asexuals! Or, I at least hope you find something that can make you feel less alone!
Fellow autistic person here (questioning if ace/demi). Never bothered with looking at people, cool leaves are so much better. Trees are super interesting, why bother with eye contact if you have a perfectly good Blackthorn hedge?
I've gotten my friends into your videos (almost exclusively gay men, with some bisexuals for color), and after a new one comes out, they always say the same thing for what your next video should be. "She should make lesbians watch Cadet Kelly." So on their collective behalf, I'm making this comment and hoping it garners enough traction for your attention.
I always took the movie as being ace-positive because you look at EVERYONE else in Andy's life at the beginning of the movie and NONE of them are happy. They all seemed to have worse problems.
I always thought the whole joke was the title of the movie setting up Andy to be a weirdo, but these "normal" people were then so bizarre. Obsessing, projecting highly personal fantasies and preferences, giving contradictory terrible advice to "fix" him when he seems pretty happy outside of awkward and high pressure situations. Back when the movie was new I thought pointing at sex-obsessed society and mocking it for being so weird and stressful was pretty rare and worthy of praise.
Demisexual here married to another demisexual like me. My husband and I were so confused because people made us feel bad to simply enjoy life and hobbies over sex. Been married 16 years, traveling and playing games together and enjoying concerts and such and still being ourselves. I always did think this movie resonated with me because, virgin or not, he seemed happy being himself and then everyone just had to go and make him feel bad and it reminded my husband and I so much of our lives.
30:18 “She’s the temptress! Take her away!!” has massive “I’m the PS5 coming to you from inside your brain! Listen to me, boy! Leave the girl, we don’t need her!” energy.
I am really enjoying this TH-cam. I worked on the rigging crew for this movie and was on it for months and months, but the way it works in Hollywood is I barely know the name of the title or the name of the movie and maybe it hadn’t even been named yet. But then as production showed up a few months after rigging on La Cienega Blvd. a defunct Best Buy that became the Electronics store people would show up with a badge that said 40-year-old virgin and I laughed, because I didn’t understand why somebody had a badge proclaiming themselves, in this case it was a teamster. That he was a 40-year-old virgin. I was like what’s the problem? Course he thought I was an idiot because I didn’t know the name of the movie that I worked on. But so often in Hollywood when working on films and television. You’re there for just the day or the week. And you don’t know what production you’re working on until you look at your paystub.but thank you for this. It was awesome.
THAT is such a funny story I love that honestly looking at all the behind the scenes stuff on this movie I just know that must have been a running joke the entire shoot

though i don't identify as a man anymore, i did when i originally realised i was, and came out as, asexual. my partner at the time tried to convince me i actually just had erectile dysfunction (because why else would i not want to have sex with him?), and understanding or supportive reactions were relatively rare, at least from my irl friends. my closest friends were naturally much better (and i helped some others realise that they themselves were asexual) but several people told me that asexuality isn't real, or that men can't be asexual. even my own sister thought i just meant i wasn't trying relationships for a while when i told her (she's gotten better since). anyway, now i identify as aroace (and agender), and my queer-platonic partner is polyamorous and demisexual, so needless to say i have a better experience now. but the asexual stigma, particularly towards men is very much a whole thing. loved the video as ever, can't wait to see what other films you think of to torture asexuals with.
i also want to add to this that it's never too late to realise that you are asexual - i didn't realise until just before my 23rd birthday, i didn't come out as agender until i was 25, and i didn't realise i was aromantic until i was 27. identity is forever changing, but it is always you.
I'm only out online. My IRL friends wouldn't understand. Tried coming out as ace to my family, and I got "but you had girlfriends before, so that's impossible". So I'm only out online. I only realized I was ace when I was 39. Before that time I thought I had ED or I was broken in other ways.
Asexual has been in use since well before the 90s. There was even a classic Canadian punk rock band in the early 80s called the Asexuals. It's been in the zeitgeist for many decades.
american media really loves hyping up sex. it's always very strange to me cause it feels like so much value is put into quickly having sex when you're young and consistently having it or you're seen as a loser. there's such a social engineering on sex addiction. no wonder there's so many issues on porn addiction and producing incels where they feel entitled to sex.
I'm a fifty seven year old male who recently discovered what asexual is and it describes me to a t. I've never been attracted to anyone and the one time I dated, I didn't know we were. A friend told me this woman liked to go to movies and I did too so we should go together, which is what we did. I was never attracted to her in a romantic or sexual way. We always paid for our own meals and tickets and didn't do what I considered couple things. Looking back I was never attracted to anyone. My way of avoiding the sex talk at work, worse for me since I work with military veterans, and they talk about nothing else. I just keep quiet, I'm quiet by nature, and they assume whatever they assume. Being in the Marines too I'm sure they think something happened at some point. No one has ever asked me though.
If it helps to know, you are not alone. My grandma has been having conversations with me about Asexuality and she feels it describes her to a t, too. She deliberately got married and had kids because she wanted to be a mom, but when her husband died in the war, she just never bothered ever again with relationships. She's been happy being on her own and has been in my life since I was born. She just turned 75 and is still going strong and happy. :)
I feel like there are a ton of older ace people that fell under the radar because they weren't immediately detested like those who had same gender preferences.
I have severe emetophobia (like truly irrational and makes it difficult to function sometimes) and for YEARS this movie has only existed in my mind as "that movie where a lady barfs on steve carell's face which I saw as a standalone scene against my will in a youtube video from like 2012" and the barbie puke commentary genuinely healed something in me 😭 thank you fellow asexuals
For being a Judd Apatow movie, I think "40 Year Virgin" is one of those rare raunchy comedies that genuinely questions and critiques societal expectations. Andy has never had sex but he is the only man in this film that has a (relatively) healthy relationship with his partner and ~generally~ views women as actual people. One of the only things about this I find offensive is that they made Andy buy a car. Why are you making fun of my environmentally conscious king?? 😭
Shocked that you used pancakes to lure the asexuals in and not garlic bread and cake. It's well known that us asexuals are unable to resist garlic bread and cake
I think we are missing the big picture here. Andy works a retail job and is able to afford to live alone in an apartment in California. Also able to buy vintage figures.
I was asexual man as a kid and teenager and the scene of Andy freaking out after his coworkers hype up sex to him and he had sensory overload at any sexual thoughts or sexual things was extremely relatable Another great video Evasive
@@facthunt2facthunt245 Well, as I understand it, it's complicated. No asexuality isn't a "a phase," people grow out of, or something people decide to be or not to be, but sexuality can be fluid. Not for everyone, and fluctuations aren't always so drastic, but it's not impossible to say that his sexuality changed over time. Even within the the ace community, some people describe themselves as aceflux and other microlabels that mean they experience sexual attraction in different ways sometimes. I'm definitely no expert, as I'm someone who has been asexual my entire life, and sex repulsed, but I've heard from other aces and others.
Well, I'm crying now. That was unexpectedly incredibly sweet. I'm demi myself, which I didn't know at all in 2005 (beyond having no vocab for it, I wasn't super in-touch with my own desires other than wanting love and wanting people to like me.) I loved this movie when it came out. I was (and am) a huge Steve Carrell fan, because his humor is always founded on vulnerability and understanding. I like that Andy was able to be flawed without having to be "fixed" to find love. The end kind of bummed me out, because I had built up s*x to be a transcendent experience, and my first time wasn't. (I mean, it took years before I could enjoy it with another person, and I've still only enjoyed it with others a few times over the decades.) I know one film can't be everything but, like, it would be cool to have a movie where someone decides, "oh, actually s*x is not for me" and still has a fulfilling life and relationships. @@JayR.-fk7vt I think you're mistaking sexual attraction for libido which are two entirely different things and generally where people get it wrong. Are you sexually attracted to yourself if you play the solo game? Probably not.
It was so relatable with the woman talking about fitting in. "...Yeah...Dat ass... ehhe" I am an asexual man and while guys (at least the ones I interacted with) wasn't nearly as bad as the guys in this movie, it was still fairly often it came up. It could be quite stressful, because not only did you have to respond, but also you couldn't always be the last to notice, so you had to be aware at all times and find a person who fit the definition of generally attractive and then mention it to the guys. I am SO glad that I am satisfied with who I am now and don't have to do that anymore. I usually tell people just that... that I am happy with my life. If they don't like it, well - not my problem.
My girl Srilatha is asking the REAL! Question 🤣. It was an honest question that I just HAD to google and came across the following! The male body has a system that keeps it from being able to ejaculate and urinate at the same time. The muscles at the base of the bladder contract in order to close off the passageway from the bladder into the urethra- which both pee and sperm share a same pathway. Also, You technically COULD pee while hard but it would take an effort.
yup, you can, it's just obnoxious. also makes the scene super unlikely since he'd have to have never had morning wood before, and while that could be possible, it's so common for teenagers he'd have had to deal with it at some point prior to the movie.
peeing with a boner isn't any harder than peeing flaccid, the problem is that you cant really point your dick down to aim into the bowl. if you want to pee with an erection you basically have to lean your whole body forwards like michael jackson in smooth criminal
There is actually a medical condition where the prostate gets too large and you get something called retrograde ejaculation. The semen actually goes into the bladder from all the pressure. Can't imagine that'd be very fun lol
as not only an asexual but also a filmmaker, those behind the scenes of dev patel complaining about recording the film were way too relatable lmao also yeah i thought this movie was gonna be a trainwreck but it's actually kinda wholesome ????? amazing. i may actually watch it eventually but now with intentions of seeing a not so serious flick and not with intentions os self flagellation

NO!!! That episode makes me so mad. People online are constantly telling me my mental health then physical disabilities then my parent's trauma (them being SA'ed and teaching my sisters and I what are red flags so we didn't get hurt, too) all made me Asexual and I am not ace and therefore was "destined to be broken".... that is what that episode reminds me of and I cannot stand it and don't want any other Asexual people to get subjected to it.
@@NoOneReallySpecial It also makes me very mad and sad, but I think it's important to talk about it and raise awareness about the existence of this episode, even because many people don't really aknowlege the many struggles and prejudice that asexuals do face. That episode of House made me dislike Hugh Laurie. I know that's irrational as he was just an actor playing a role but his character has contributed to disinformation about us. I now have an aversion to Hugh and won't watch anything he's in.
I honestly don’t see much “problematic” things. By the end it shows respect fo everyone’s sexual lifestyle. And shows that all his coworkers were actually being kinda shitty. With all their stupid advice. Like yeah, it contains a trans woman, but she’s never disrespected, you just have some straight guys say they don’t wanna have sex with someone with a penis. That’s pretty normal straight guy stuff. And by the end Andy is the one with the best relationship of his friends. And it came from just respecting a woman and not treating her like a walking vagina.
I love the magic scene! I'm a magic nerd and understand how uncool it seems. I love that they say "he doesn't have a condom but does always have a giant quarter?" Kat Dennings even comments, "so you always have that on you?" Yeah because this one time out of a million it payed off and was awesome I practice this EVERY night
@weirdcreature9928 Because the character could be enby/fluid and predominantly femme presenting, like myself. But Gina could also be a woman who is masc and bi. The way I phrased it covers both most comfortably, IMO. But feel free to share any discretion you have.

Genuinely curious, did you not feel it pertinent to highlight the obvious metaphor of his action figures representing his virginity? For those who didn't pick up on that, he is fixated with keeping them in their boxes in perfect condition, he literally hides the from Trish when she first comes over, and when she tries to get intimate with him on date 20 she literally starts to "compromise the integrity" of the boxes when doing so and the whole time she is encouraging him to get rid of them.
It's a genuinely awful movie that I'd never wish on my own worst enemy but Gigli (a room full of bisexuals could have a lot to say about Jennifer Lopez's character being introduced as a lesbian in a romcom where she is destined to end up with Ben Affleck's character)
I'm sorry but the part where the (afab) asexuals get confused over male anatomy during the peeing bit took me out. Really donned on me that they'd likely not have any interest in doing that type of physical/sexual health research LOL. Made it funnier that there wasn't an amab asexual in the room who could answer the question.
Well not all Asexual people are like that, though. My sisters and I knew about the human body and sexuality and stuff because when you're about to have a baby sister be born you get curious. Mom told us stuff and we were paying attention in health classes and actually helping keep our sexually active friends safe because of knowing about it.

When the whole room of asexuals goes "well you don't immediately start with the kink", you know the truth is being spoken.

It's bcs english isn't my first language so I'm doing my best >.<
I was trying to explain exactly that some people have sex drives and some do not and that is not necessarily related to your asexuality.

At long last, some Ace representation in "being kidnapped and blindsided by Evasive"!
though i don't identify as a man anymore, i did when i originally realised i was, and came out as, asexual. my partner at the time tried to convince me i actually just had erectile dysfunction (because why else would i not want to have sex with him?), and understanding or supportive reactions were relatively rare, at least from my irl friends. my closest friends were naturally much better (and i helped some others realise that they themselves were asexual) but several people told me that asexuality isn't real, or that men can't be asexual. even my own sister thought i just meant i wasn't trying relationships for a while when i told her (she's gotten better since).
anyway, now i identify as aroace (and agender), and my queer-platonic partner is polyamorous and demisexual, so needless to say i have a better experience now. but the asexual stigma, particularly towards men is very much a whole thing.
loved the video as ever, can't wait to see what other films you think of to torture asexuals with.
i also want to add to this that it's never too late to realise that you are asexual - i didn't realise until just before my 23rd birthday, i didn't come out as agender until i was 25, and i didn't realise i was aromantic until i was 27. identity is forever changing, but it is always you.
"identity is forever changing, but it is always you" is such an excellent line!!! also hey, alliteration buddies B-) I'm aroace and agender as well!

@@facthunt2facthunt245 Well, as I understand it, it's complicated. No asexuality isn't a "a phase," people grow out of, or something people decide to be or not to be, but sexuality can be fluid.
I was fascinated that the movie implies him being a virgin means he's never before had a boner when he needs to pee
peeing with a boner isn't any harder than peeing flaccid, the problem is that you cant really point your dick down to aim into the bowl. if you want to pee with an erection you basically have to lean your whole body forwards like michael jackson in smooth criminal
There is actually a medical condition where the prostate gets too large and you get something called retrograde ejaculation. The semen actually goes into the bladder from all the pressure. Can't imagine that'd be very fun lol
Sometimes really having to pee makes you hard, because you’re not gonna accidentally let it go with a boner.
as not only an asexual but also a filmmaker, those behind the scenes of dev patel complaining about recording the film were way too relatable lmao also yeah i thought this movie was gonna be a trainwreck but it's actually kinda wholesome ????? amazing. i may actually watch it eventually but now with intentions of seeing a not so serious flick and not with intentions os self flagellation
calling Judd Apatow “Dev Patel” is too funny I can’t omg
@@EvasiveOne OMG I MESSED UP THEIR NAMES SORRY ALJDHLKSJHG you know what i won't even fix it
As an aroace person I am both thoroughly entertained and disturbed as I expected to be after watching this movie, and compelled to request an "I forced aromantic people to watch '500 Days of Summer' " video
please check out the tv series Young Americans, it came out in 2000 and it has a storyline of a teenage girl who disguises herself as a boy to get the attention of her absent mother. Of course one of her fellow students finds himself attracted to her and is therefore confused about his own sexuality...
I will investigate thank you 🫡
Now we need "I forced asexuals to watch that one Asexuality doctor House episode"
Also I think it fits this whole series of "I forced ... to watch ..." as is literally watching offensive or bad portraying of queer people in media
@@lindarezende7725 I see what you're saying, now. Definitely makes sense in that context, then.
That episode of House made me dislike Hugh Laurie. I know that's irrational as he was just an actor playing a role but his character has contributed to disinformation about us. I now have an aversion to Hugh and won't watch anything he's in.
Please no! *insert Steve Carell shouting no here*
I love this series. It's like MST3K but for problematic comedies.
oh my gosh 1) great comparison 2) MST3K mention i could cry 🥹 i used the watch them with parents alll the time
Omg THAT'S why I like these videos so much
Problematic is just code for funny tbh
I honestly don’t see much “problematic” things. By the end it shows respect fo everyone’s sexual lifestyle. And shows that all his coworkers were actually being kinda shitty. With all their stupid advice.
Like yeah, it contains a trans woman, but she’s never disrespected, you just have some straight guys say they don’t wanna have sex with someone with a penis. That’s pretty normal straight guy stuff.
And by the end Andy is the one with the best relationship of his friends. And it came from just respecting a woman and not treating her like a walking vagina.
40 year old virgin actually isn’t problematic if you’ve seen it the title was to get people to see it had a good message
Ace man here, thanks for confirming we exist!!
I love the magic scene! I'm a magic nerd and understand how uncool it seems. I love that they say "he doesn't have a condom but does always have a giant quarter?" Kat Dennings even comments, "so you always have that on you?" Yeah because this one time out of a million it payed off and was awesome I practice this EVERY night
you should get lesbians to watch hit 2009 comedy "lesbian vampire killers" starring james corden
That one is on my list ✨
@@EvasiveOne holy shit lmao, can't wait
You probably wouldn't even need to lie about the movie title as long as you made them promise not to look it up in any way
Oh dear lord I watched that in a cinema that video is gonna be PAIN
the way i almost choked when reading 'starring james corden'
Gina, though the role is short, is truly the masc AFAB bisexual representation we need.
Big time "Sup bro, lemme see your hog" energy, and I'm here for it.
Why use "AFAB" instead of "woman" here? /gen
@weirdcreature9928 Because the character could be enby/fluid and predominantly femme presenting, like myself. But Gina could also be a woman who is masc and bi. The way I phrased it covers both most comfortably, IMO. But feel free to share any discretion you have.
@weirdcreature9928 (should probably edit this comment to emit the "she", though.)
@@Flyn4thewin I just found it weird bc there's nothing about the character that suggests she's AFAB. Even if they're nb/fluid, they could be AMAB. So it makes it kind of confusing to get what you were trying to convey
Not even watched the video but all u had to say was "asexual" and i was summoned
It's so weird to me how collecting figures was seen as "uncool" back then, every millennial I know collects action figures or merchandise from franchises they love 😂😅 I have pokemon and vintage Nintendo games and people always love checking them out when they visit my house
Steer clear of many an 80s movie...SO much anti-nerdery...
Oh, it's my people. How wonderful. I feel understood here. This movie is my life experience (as I'm sure it's many other aesexuals' lives). I used to have sex on occasion when I was younger, but it was mostly just because it was something to do, especially when I struggled to connect with people or have any interest in them at all. I'm ace/aro, NB, and have ASD- I needed to do something to make me appear "normal" 🥲😩. But, I'm 32 now and I'm too mature to be concerned with "normality". Sure, almost no one in this world gets it, but I'm happy with my life and I deserve to be. We all do.
❤️❤️❤️
I exist Evasive. Thank you for your acknowledgement.
I can say a lot of stuff as an asexual guy, but my biggest complain is:
as an hispanic guy, i can't tell what the fuck the boss was singing 💀
🎶Cuando arreglan mi cuarto, no encuentro nada. ¿ Dónde va con tanta prisa al partido de fútbol? 🎵
I've been hitting the Redbull HARD for THREE DAYS, I go home every night and I SHAKE dudeee he is so me
He’s so you-coded
Ace man here! we do exist but are rarely seen. We hang out with Bigfoot (who is also asexual) and the Loch Ness Monster (who is hypersexual but we like to keep them around because they have good stories)
As a 30 year old virgin (im super ace) this video has helped me heal from the disappointment of not becoming a wizard as the internet promised me.
Cherry magic mentioned ❤
13:50 they really just said "the nipples... are the eyes of the face" THE PROPHECY OF BIMINI realized with the power of asexuals I CAN'T EVEN 😂
Being an asexual and watching all your other "I made [group of people] watch [movie that specifically embarrasses them]" videos, I was wondering what movie out there could be used for asexuals. I had completely forgotten about this movie, probably because I could in no way relate to the main characters. It was kind of funny, I'll admit, but I just wasn't the target audience. Well, time to relive it with my fellow aces. Thanks for this opportunity Evasive.
9:22 Ok, so I didn't start the video before making my initial comment. Let it be known that I am indeed an asexual man.
The video diary is fucking hilarious. Dude is like me, we really need to stop letting our intrusive thoughts win by saying it all out loud.
It feels ahead of its time. If Judd Apatow was born 30 years later I could imagine him being a TH-camr instead of working in movies and TV
You couldn't find any asexual guys? That's me!
I remember my boss recommending this movie to me and I couldn't stand it. My boss was like "you remind me of Steve Carrell in that movie."
I quit that job soon after, she was pretty rude.
28:23 Lyrics of this masterpiece
¿Cuándo arreglan mi cuarto?
No encuentro nada
¿Dónde va con tanta prisa?
Al partido de fútbol
Translation:
When will my room be tidied up?
I can't find anything
Where are you going in such a hurry?
I'm going to the soccer game
1 second in, can already tell this is gonna be uncomfortable. Will I still watch it? Obviously, it'll also be hilarious.
As an asexual man, I cannot confirm I exist but this video does speak to me and my interests
I’ve heard my dad quote “You know how I know you’re gay?” far too many times… and like every other line…
I didn’t even think of that tbh but that’s so true I wish I’d pointed that out
@EvasiveOne Haha fair enough, I think I was just THAT stoned when I watched the movie 😂
I'm trying to think of a bisexual-adjascent romcom for bisexuals to watch, but I can only think of Mulan 😭
Kissing Jessica Stein
Were the World Mine is kinda romcom-ish but also musical and apocalyptic and stuff. Has good bi representation, too.
Jennifer’s Body?
It's a genuinely awful movie that I'd never wish on my own worst enemy but Gigli (a room full of bisexuals could have a lot to say about Jennifer Lopez's character being introduced as a lesbian in a romcom where she is destined to end up with Ben Affleck's character)
Maybe three to tango (99) since he assumes the guy is gay? I’m a cheerleader for similar reasons.
I give this video a 4.5/5. Excellent editing and great participant personalities. 0.5 deduction for no pizza.
I knew about the anatomy bit despite being Asexual. You can be Ace and know that. The human body is fascinating and weird and I don't personally think sexuality should stop people from learning about it.
@@NoOneReallySpecial Thank you for sharing your experience! Sorry I meant no implication that all asexual people are that way. I know that there's a large aro/ace spectrum just like there's a spectrum to how allosexuals express and what they are/aren't comfortable engaging with. I also hope it doesn't sound like I'm calling them uneducated, just figured it was interesting that this particular group of people found that scene funnier and more confusing by comparison.
Also know my fair share of people who are sexual but ignorant to anatomy & health. I think we all benefit from good health education regardless!
@@jukeboxxgamer No worries at all. Never meant my comment to make it sound like I was calling you out or anything. Just figured I'd point out how people just assume stuff about Ace people. And, you're correct- it's crazy how many people are ignorant of anatomy and health. I 100% agree with everyone getting a good health education. ^_^ I, too, felt like it was interesting that this group of people were confused and such by such sex education topics. Felt I had to respond to you because their reaction definitely didn't speak to what we all know.
We just rewatched mrs doubtfire, and while it has some upsetting moments, it made us cry. (In a good way) and honestly the upsetting parts seemed diagetic. The movie seemed to frame drag positively (Willaim's character gets a tv host gig educating kids while in Doutfire drag) while exploring how not fitting in stereotypical gender roles can very negatively affect people in divorce.
And that in divorce, its important to make sure the kids are taken care of
Also wario is an asexual icon so I love to find out he was going to be in this movie. Hate to find out he got cut
"they used to call it a pussy even then? Wow" that seemed so sincere, im crying
Honestly that movie director is a mood. Everytime he talked about filming the movie i could feel the despair in his eyes. And as an audiovisual communication student, i get that.
I'm gonna need all casting directors to stop casting Jane Lynch as a straight woman, now, forever, and retroactively
Great vid as usual Eva! :D
asexual man here!
I saw “asexual” and I clicked. As an asexual, nothing lures me in like this concept
So glad you said “the Northern hemisphere”. As another ace who hasn’t seen this movie, I’m excited and worried about what I’m about to watch!
