Most of the real XJ12C models had vinyl roof coverings to disguise the ripples in the steel roof: the two door bodies were not really strong enough, so correctly, it should be a covered top in either black or brown. They were sublime to drive, though, if tricky to get in and out of: you very much sit 'in' an XJ, rather than on it! Looks great in a proper red, Andy. Nicely finished - especially with the doors being such a bugger!
Thank you. I had so much trouble with paint I really couldn’t bring myself to vinyl the roof. Everyone I found on the internet did have a black roof if in red.👍 Thanks for watching and commenting as you always do. Very much appreciated
A great finish yet again Andy. 👏👏My uncle loved Jaguars and had an XJ6 Coupe 4.2 and later a very rare Daimler Double Six Coupe amongst others. I tried using that Auto Extreme paint when I first started doing resto's and never got on with it? I always found it used to 'bleed back' around the casting edges and never really fully harden but you've got a great result with it here. Looking forward to the next one Andy.👍👍
Thank you Richard. I try to leave model ten days for the paint to harden. It’s the longest part of the process. I’ve considered an oven or air fryer to speed it up. Hence some times I have to do a fill in video if anything goes wrong.
Great job Andy, congratulations! 👏👏👏
Thank you
