  • Corgi CC96308 classic Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle from Captain Scarlet. An impulse buy, but does it have any gadgets, or is it a brick on 20 wheels?

That's done it for me, got to order one now, after being the owner of the Dinky model as a kid, and which my old ma gave away when I was a teen, bless her. Hope they bring out the whole Captain Scarlet range after seeing this. Thank you.

The twin sets of wheels are a definite improvement on the Dinky and the switch for the door is clever. There are improvements to the lettering too from the last Corgi release.

Thanks for this. I’ve got one on pre-order. You have allayed my fears 😀

I've had one on pre-order for about a month. Just waiting for it to arrive. My biggest complaint about the original Dinky version (which I did own back in the day - now long lost of course), was that Dinky only put skinny single-wheels on it, not the thick double-wheels as on the "real" thing. Corgi got that one right this time!

Agree,i have a good condition dinky spv and it is a great model, but would have been so much better with the double wheels.

I have the original dinky version, boxed, the vivid imaginations scarlet boxset, the corgi 2005 version which is almost identical to this and the product enterprise model.I absolutely love the spv,as you may have guessed,my favourite of all the anderson vehicles. The corgi new captain scarlet range is excellent too,the rhino, cheetah and angel interceptor.I have all of these boxed too.

Yes, I like the Rhino and 2005 Angel Interceptor too.

The Corgi model was created from Derek Meddings' original prop blueprints, as was the Product Enterprise version. Apart from not being weathered, the Corgi model is pretty much screen accurate.
As much as I love the 1968 Dinky version, and still own my original, from that time (although now it is being driven by Captain Black - an aftermarket figure I could not resist), the Corgi one is so much better. 👍👍👍

It's not my favourite Gerry Anderson vehicle design but I might have to get one. I've got the Angel Interceptor, which I absolutely love. I wonder if they're going to reissue Joe ,90

Thanks for reviewing Lorez. It was a mystery as to whether this would have the gadgets that the Dinky version had. Good to see Corgi haven't let us down.
It's actually sold out on Corgi's website so nice to see it's proved popular.
I have the diecast Vivid Imaginations boxset from 1993 which includes the SPV with gadgets. Not sure I could justify this without selling those.
At least they've kept the Captain Scarlet figure without the drop down seat - which always broke!
I will be very interested to see if the Angel Interceptor has any gadgets -so be nice if you did an unboxing video of that too.
Hope you're enjoying the Corgi Model Club reissues. Have you seen the Corgi cars being produced by Tony Buller of Professionalmania? Excellent models. I have Bodie's silver Capri - which I did an unboxing video - and have reserved Cowley's Granada and Doyle's gold Capri.

I had several of the PE vehicles. Loved the interceptor with UFO, Stingray & Skydiver. Don't think I ever had the SPV though. They are soo expensive to buy now!

    • @glynrhodes3212
      @glynrhodes3212 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hi Lorez. Yes, you're right, they are now very expensive, especially 'Skydiver'. I was lucky though. When they were first released, I joined forces with my brother and we did a great deal with a store in Nottingham where we ordered two of each of the whole range. We paid £21 for each. No matter what the price goes up to, I (we) have no intention to sell. Love them. You're right about the Interceptor - great. I also really like 'Supercar' because there are very few good models/representations of this. I also have a set of 'Johnny Lightning' supercars. They are small (Matchbox size) but are really nice, especially the 'black and white' version. I don't know if you have these or have seen these but they're still not too expensive and are great for a Gerry Anderson fan !

@@glynrhodes3212I keep looking out for the JL Supercars and the similarly scaled Japanese SPV and Stingray but they're usually on the high side which is a shame (it's all about timing!). Round 2 Models will be launching a range of UFO model kits next year and I suggested on one of their Q&A forums recently that they should do Johnny Lightning diecasts of the Shado Mobiles to which they seemed interested........

I’m shocked it’s not just a upgraded Dinky!
I thought that’s all the Corgi Gerry Anderson stuff is.
Is it better to scale it was representing?
    Or was it cost cutting?
And is the base or bottom half die cast too, or plastic like the later matchbox ones?
And I agree with the TB2 I honestly don’t understand why they haven’t got rid of the obvious buttons (even paint them differently so they blend in.)
But why not use a fake panel as a button, doesn’t ruin the looks and is discreet.
But I have always hated it had plastic thrusters and legs (the dinky one had better detailing for the inside of the thrusters.)
I would rather all metal, and more detail on it, more pods, vehicles, attachments, stands, fake thruster flames, for all the TB!
    Hope they make a TB5.
Also the new Stingray could have been a bit better more gadgets, and just a bit bigger.
Glad they made diecast version of it thiugh.
And have you seen the new DB5 I was excited looks good, but then it’s only half way there.
Doesn’t have the all the gadgets if the original.
Why? I would happily pay more for such.
I would love to see a new mould with extra details and all the gadgets and maybe more of the DB5 too.
They know we want it so why aren’t they doing it?
    It’s blowing my mind.
Sorry for the long post it’s just so annoying sometimes.
Thanks for the video im close to preordering one and maybe a few more items.

Thanks for this - not sure why but it looks and sounds cheaper than the Dinky (might be the finish but it looks almost plastic). However, I'll buy one to encourage Corgi to consider other vehicles from the very wonderful world of Gerry Anderson - beyond the Stingray model already planned for next year!!
Look forward to your unboxing of the Angel Interceptor!!!!!!!!

Thanks. It’s not bed actually, I’ve had some Corgis recently that feel so cheap they almost put me off buying from them again, (Bond battle damaged DB5). This model is lighter than the Dinky but feels solid.

Hi, Gerry Anderson did not like the fact he made them sit backwards in the S.P.V. As he thought about it later and thought it was stupid.

    • @lorez8388
      @lorez8388  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Can’t argue with that. I believe the logic was it would be safer in a high speed collision, but it’s an awful idea!

  • @Mysticpuma

Mine arrived about a week ago. Opened it today. The missile is very fiddly to get into position and as you said, using the second missile does help greatly to click it 8nto place.
Also, as you found out, the lack of instructions is also a surprise. Same as you, no idea how to open the sliding door then found it accidentally.
I opened the box and the background that is printed inside the box is absolutely fine, however I quickly found that when you take the sellotape off, it adheres to the print and unfortunately mine tore slightly. Just be careful with that tape!

As usual i found the finishing on it not great, mine had a black and white dot of miscellaneous paint on either
Side of the main body not a massive amount bit enough
To spoil it for me.And good old
Corgi out of stock of this at christmas along with nearly all
    The other tv favourites.
