- Apples new iPhone 15 Pro Max FAILS my Durability Test! Grab a Ghost case for your iPhone HERE www.dbrand.com... I freakin' love Titanium. It is the COOLEST metal on the planet! When Apple said their new iPhone 15 Pro Max was going to be made with Grade 5 Titanium - I was flabbergasted. However... it turns out that the back glass of the Titanium iPhone 15 pro max isnt quite ready for prime time. Something is wrong with Apples new iPhone 15 Pro max.

Strength to weight is nothing if the make it light enough to take away the “strength”.
@@jpogigtxcr1778tbf, lightness in a phone is incredibly underrated. Extra mass when falling increases the momentum and kinetic energy. ''We have a brand new USB-C cable.. I imagine the world will soon follow Apple's lead on this one and we'll start seeing this port everywhere'' kinda flew under the radar 😂😂 you can miss it easily. But Apple deserves it
The stupid thing is the USB-C spec allows alternate modes. Two devices connected via USB-C can negotiate to use the USB data wires to carry signals other than USB. That's how HDMI, DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt (which is just PCIe) over USB-C work. Apple could easily have made a Lightning alternate mode and put a USB-C port on its phones 8 years ago, without losing compatibility with pre-existing Lightning devices.
this was exactly what i was wondering, i was like hol'up what'd i just hear??
It didn't fly under the radar, most likely Apple users genuinely agreed with his statement since they don't know any better

Something that's interesting to note is that apple probably could have had a very wide variety of colors if they decided not to do the PVD coating. The process is a little complicated but you can anodize titanium to get quite a few unique colors.
They want to differentiate the pro line up and the normal line up. That's why the normal lineup gets some pastel colours which are still lacking any saturation or character. The pro lineup completely lacks character and is super minimal and meant for people who are serious and business oriented. We can hate Apple but they do know how to attract customers at every price point.
They will do that change later the year and bring iPhone 16pro😂😂😂
not in a mass producible way when you need color consistency among millions of products.
They do minimal changes each year and call it new. Theyre already working on the iphone 20

I'm not surprised that there are complaints already about scratched phones. Not only does it seem pretty effortless, the scratches are also really noticeable
yeah the coating is terrible. Not that I'm an engineer who would know anything about it, but I wonder why they even offer alternative color options to the natural finish when the coating comes off so easily. Their excuses to not color the titanium itself don't really hold up when compromising the durability of the colored phone's coating
What percentage of iPhone users buy a cover and add a screen protector? It defeats the issues.
@@sosuaevents That shouldn't be a solution for a phone that expensive. Also, if this scratches easily, even a little kernel of sand may scratch your phone WHILE in the case. So say goodbye to your research value, cause these issues will still happen
That's why they made "natural titanium" an option in the first place, and also why they made the back glass so easily removable:
Apple knew these things would be an issue and instead of designing a better phone where these things wouldn't happen they just said "lol" and ignored them
I've got the natural titanium exactly because I was expecting the coating to be scratch able. Titanium is hard to coat.
I bet that engineers were forced to apply a coating because of the design and marketing team telling that it MUST have color options.

@@Nohraz No. They'll just shift to another market. Gamers did this with Nvidia GPUs and Nvidia doubled down and moved further into the AI market. They make more money, and you get nothing.
I think they may have built weak glass as it is easily repairable so Apple can earn more in replacements.
That silence after the snap said everything. Whoaa.. This hasn't happened to any phone recently. This might be their gig to offer repairability at a lower rate but more frequently.
basically. they sayin " you want to repair your phone so much ? go repair it every 5 mins"
You do know that this is a benefit; don’t you? Same as a crumple zone in a car… the glass has absorbed all the energy of the impact; so the titanium frame was uncompromised.

From iPhone 4 glass back have we not learned this lesson there is no reason for a glass back. why...just why? If not for profit.
The 'cracking' is by design. Everyone is supposed to make their own custom crackling 'back plate'. Awesome Apple design.
Meh, the fact that cracks are all unique means this is just really great modern art, like a Jackson Pollack painting made out of broken gorilla glass😂jk
Its a design feature mostly will say...
The glass cracks because that's the only thing that makes iPhone users unique from each other.
wym by design? broken glass is a safety hazard
@josephmuema7916 well safety isn't as important as a cool unique design
The tension in waiting for the screen to fail the lighter test was palpable
The way that Jerry treat the iPhone like it’s a 100 dollar phone is funny
Apple: The iPhone 15 backglass replacement is now 60% cheaper 😁
Also Apple: Makes them 80% easier to break 💀💀💀
Apple's favorite lesbian aunt, Tim Cook will be glad this vid came out.
He mad the glass a lot weaker when he shoved a lighter in it for 2 minutes 🙄
The back only cracks when it's bent, but withstands way more force when it falls or it's thrown against something, which is more frequent way your phone might get damaged. The titanium just won't bend, which applies too much pressure on the back plate, which instead of bending has to shatter now, but on the other hand it's way more durable when it comes to falling from your pocket on a marble floor or something.
@@sm7085 Phones dont bend like that when they fall from your hand, the bend test doesnt represent drop impact resistance. A phone that performs amazing in a bend test could very easily break from a 1-2ft drop.
Ithink apple found this defect after manufacturing so they decreased the price...😀

@@SrRAFAGAS 15 pro max??
So, looking through Apples training courses I think I know why the back broke, around the section of the failure under the glass panel is a hole in the “mid frame” where the wireless charging coil sits and I think that was enough depth for the glass to be compromised and break, and the reason it didn’t on the pro is because it’s smaller and overall less flex then the bigger version.
We''ll see that in Jerry's teardown video.
The max is quite literally too big for itself and this suggests the phone is structurally unsound
Shouldn’t that be true for all previous pro maxes?
I think it is as simple as glass is not flexible, and likely thin. It doesn’t bend, it shatters.
Also, titanium has less deflection than aluminum, meaning that the glass will face greater impact and stress forces relative to an aluminum frame that might absorb more energy on impact
@@lakshitdagar no, cuz this year the back glass is easier to repair as they said
So maybe gaps and the design changes
Scratching the phone is the ASMR we did not want or need 😂
Amazingly, no one at Apple had the curiosity to try and bend it juuust a little before entering into production! 😅
I think they tried that.
But if they don't add titanium, maybe no one will apply to buy (15) because there is almost no difference.
They used titanium for marketing
Not sure why they would though. What real world application does a bend test show? Can't remember any time my phone was stressed in that way. A drop test would've been more interesting to see.
@@davidyang3068i mean sitting accidentally on your phone happens so it is defenetly worth testing it

I would not be surprised if they had a lot of internal testing failures with the back glass, so being the trillion dollar company they are they said fuck it make back repairs significantly cheaper. I also wonder if the size of the Max plays into the quick glass shatter vs the regular pro
