  • The Pixel Fold folds more ways than one. Grab protection for your device HERE: www.dbrand.com/shop/pixel-fold Today we are durability testing the Google Pixel Fold. A brand new folding device from Google. And... well... it does not do so great. The Google pixel fold is first scratched, burned, and bent and ultimately fails the JerryRigEverything Durability test. Hopefully Google can strengthen the phone up a bit for next year. Hit that subscribe button so you dont miss the autopsy. I mean teardown.

Unless you want your device to end up like the Pixel Fold... Get protection:

Pretty brave design choice by Google to make foldable that cant handle being folded

  • @hjb2tube

The hinge designers did a real good job. Unfortunately the rest of the design team reached their breaking point.

My guess to why it shut down is that the flame was right on top of a temperature sensor and made it think the whole device was overheating. Would have been interesting to see you try holding the lighter on another spot

  • @DigitalicaEG

The reason why it only opens to 178 degrees out of the box is to account for tension over time. This way when it finally expands to 180 degrees after a few months of use it doesn’t end up with a very visible crease in the middle. I am no fan of this phone at all but this specific point I thought was pretty clever.

It's actually good for the industry to see a foldable coming from Google.

  • @yejoonstech5112

I think you coincidentally lit the fire exactly where the tensor chip was inside the phone while doing the burn test, the intense heat felt by the phone mightve gotten it to freak out and turn off.

I know the tests are "extreme" but it's also good to see if you buying something that is built to handle those extremes or not. Gives you a bit more trust in the rest of the build quality.

The Pixel fold didn't pass the durability test, but Zack definitely passed the alliteration assignment, amidst awe-inspiring accomplishment.

  • @DigitalChadLife

I think I am still a few generations away from my first foldable.

  • @MetalPopka

Hey Jerry! I have an idea for a test you could add to your durability tests to make things interesting. You should do a test where you drop the phone into water and then pull it back out. To test the IP water resistance.

THAT was almost as good as the V for Vendetta monologue! Well done

  • @weekendhoppers

Companies should now aim at making phones foldable in either direction to pass Jerry's durability test 😂 👍

I just recently discovered your channel, and I must say, I love your alliterative wordplay. Kinda painful to watch these expensive devices get ruined, but hey, it's entertaining too. Subbed.

Im actually very impressed to see the phone survive being filled with dust/debris and slammed open/shut. Rumor was that a speck of dust would destroy the inner display. Well, according to one tech reviewer anyway.

I fought buying a DBrand for years due to their price being so high. But the lack of grippy cases for new iPhone led to try them. Their GRIP case is the best case I’ve EVER had. EVER.
