- This video is a compilation of more finds from the end of last year. The finds are still backed up and ready to be put into videos from the productive year I had! This video has it all as usual… little points, large points, scrapers, anvil stones, broke points, and of course the toothy point! I’m not really sure what type of point is at the end, so any input would be appreciated. Thanks for checking out the finds and please subscribe if you haven’t done so yet. There’s plenty of quality pieces waiting to be shown in upcoming videos!

I get that man.. I’m a big time follower that doesn’t, but probably should more often, chime in on videos! I’m glad I finally got it out of you… even if it was just to get you to tell me I suck! Haha But seriously though, I appreciate it man and thanks for chiming in!
Thqt last ones got all the nice bells and whistles to it. Beautifully constrcuted blade with a great utilitarian thickness, finely tuned edge work from all four sides. Beautiful basal notching with the fractured/burinated basal edge. Those pine tree folks were meticulous about their straight blade edges sometimes.. i like finding the ones where the blade edge is so straight it looks like a machine made it. That one looks like it saw plenty of use before coming to the stage its in now. Killer early archaic tennessee history man.
Man no doubt! Some of them like you said look like it was machined. It’s mind boggling when I think about how it was created. I’d love to have seen what this one looked like the day it was made.. phewww… probably a monster, even more so than it is. We’re blessed to live where we do man. This area is so friggin rich with history you can basically look around in any drainage ditch it seems and find some remnants of ancient man.
Oh, my goodness!! Your videos always generate excitement, amazement...........and a good deal of envy Lol! The serrated Dalton would be a find of a lifetime for me. But you have finds like this on almost every video! Happy for you! Continued good luck!

Thanks buddy! Sorry to cause envy, but sometimes a little envy is what it takes to get me out there hunting even harder! Haha I’m so bad at id’ing artifacts. I know the min I try to label something I’m going to get corrected! Lol That’s why I just remain silent and let the viewer see from all angles and let them decide what they think it might be. I definitely keep raising the bar for myself with each video it seems. I’m going to have to make the highlight piece of my next video be a broken madison just to reset the bar! Lol But I will say that I found a cache a couple weeks ago. I’m not sure when that video will be coming out considering I like to release videos of finds in the order that I find them… and these finds are from last year. I’m a little backed up! But it’s coming eventually! Thanks again and as always!

A little commentary on your finds would be most helpful to novices like me! (ie, type, time period) You always find the best for sure! Your collection must be the envy of all! Happy hunting and continued success!
I wish I had the knowledge to be able to spot off types and dates on pieces… although I’ve had great success at finding artifacts over the years, I feel like my knowledge on point types is lacking. I’d surely be unknowingly giving off false information if I tried. For that reason I don’t even attempt! Hopefully that’s understandable. But thank you for the kind comment on the quality of artifacts I recover. As I’m sure you’ve discovered, they don’t come easy! Thanks for taking the time to give some input.

The dart or arrow point @ 9:00 has such fine & slim aerodynamic shape, like the main fuselage of the SR71 Blackbird, Serrated spooky tooth looks like a small thumb saw, i often wondered if extremely serrated points were used for fishing much like a treble hook having the ability to hold on to a the fish when its hooked & flipping flopping in the water, The Coyote's YT channel and his areas searched down on the coast of Baja used to be shallow wetlands long ago when the Colorado river was free flowing into the Sea of Cortez, He and his headhunting amigos find a unusually large amount of toothy serrated points.
I have noticed that correlation in my research of different point types. Points that were thought to be used for fish do tend to be serrated. The one in this video I would think would be a little on the big side for that, as most that were thought to be used for fish tend to be on the smaller side. But who knows… the carp and catfish can get pretty massive around here! But indeed, ol Coyote does find quite the array of impressive artifacts! I didn’t realize that area was a delta or shallow water area. That’s neat to imagine!

Wow , what some killers ! Super fine Greenbrier? Pine tree ? Maker was a very skilled individual, one of the finest I’ve seen in a long time . And the rest … man what a thumb scraper… and what would have been the king of all pickwick points … whoa , thanks for sharing as always brother .

That pickwick has for sure had me going back multiple times looking for the other half of it! Haha man if I had a nickel for every time I’ve imagined that thing being whole! At the rate that thing was narrowing down, it looks like it would’ve been at least a few more inches longer. Who knows though… sometimes they would all of a sudden come to an abrupt point. Whewww man you know how it goes… sometimes you’re on it, sometimes ya ain’t! Been on a good run lately.. the finds in this video are all from toward the end of last year. They are backed up on me that much waiting to get put into videos… Not a bad problem to have! Bookends!😂 One of these days I’m gonna slap the killers in the middle of the video and throw everyone off! But you know, I’d say most of my stuff is out of cases. Granted I do have a few put together to hold things I don’t want over handled. But for the most part I have them laid out in cabinets, on cabinets, bookshelves, … any flat surface I can find… haha I enjoy picking them up and looking at them regularly, and being in a case hinders that somewhat. That being said, it’s admittedly not very video friendly showing a bookshelf and cabinets full of artifacts. Even I get overwhelmed with the amount crammed into a relatively small space. I have thought about doing a collection video though, so it’s not off the table! Thanks again and as always!

But man it’s hard sitting on some of this stuff I find for sure, but I have to release them in order… and yep, that’s how backed up I am on artifacts. Way to go. Very nice finds. Love the nutting stone. Gotta love Dover flint. The dalton greenbrier is a classic. That size and condition is unique. Keep saving history and as always be safe.
Thanks buddy! I can’t pass up a good nutting stone. They are always so heavy, and take up a lot of real estate, but always look great added to the collection. My favorite one is about 18”x24” and has around 25+ notches on each side all in a nice straight pattern.
I wasn’t too sure on that that last piece was, but thankfully people like you chimed in and labeled it for me real quick. I can most definitely see Dalton greenbrier in it. Most of the pieces I find at that particular spot seem to be larger than usual. It’s an interesting spot for sure.

When I pulled that thing, I was 90% sure it was gonna be broken.. stuff I find at that site is almost ALWAYS broken. They are always crazy pieces like that too, which makes the broken ones sting even more! Haha thanks as always buddy!

Hope you find the top to the spear .that nutting stone looks like a track of some dinosaur very cool are those little fossils in the small axe at the beginning wow dude what a haul the river was good to you we just got over 2 ft of snow it will be a while here but the melt ought to uncover somthing what a nice scraper toward the end and of course the masterpiece hate to get shot with that one
Thanks man! You know I’ve gone back to the spot so many times where I found that broken pickwick, looking for the top half of it! So far no luck. That adze / axe had pieces of quarts in it. I believe that’s what looked like the fossils. I have found quite a few pieces with fossils in them though! That stinks you’re still buried in snow though… man that would kill me! Haha
@@Points365 well I have a suggestion I've offered up before dowsing rods I was taught by a gas company guy and used them for years to locate underground lines .and then one day someone said you can probably find whatever your thinking about if you try .so I went to put it to the test I knew where an old burnt house was and during the fire fighting a jar of coins had been sitting in a window and was broken I had found a few years later outside this window after it rained so I took the rods and immediately started finding buried coins this went to can I find the intentionally buried arrowhead and it was a resounding yes at least in my yard I've never actually tried out in the wild .but if it was nothing but sand and small stones I would most certainly try I might not film it but I think your guess of approximately half of it missing is right I would try for that stellar point I made mine from coat hangers
Funny you mention that, I actually made me some out of some coat hangers just a few weeks ago. I was tossing one away and wondered what I could do with it instead of throwing it out… then I thought about my dad using a willow branch to witch for water. I remember him telling me it could be done with dowsing rods, so I made me a set. I briefly tried it at my house to find the main water line… it sure enough crossed right where it’s at. That would be wild to try it on something else like artifacts! That’s a crazy story about the coins too. It’s really got my wheels turning now… I might just take them out with me on one of my future hunts! Thanks for the idea and suggestion!
@@Points365 I'm really looking forward to trying it out in the hills also so maybe we'll have some good stories to swap I found a chert axe last year that I had walked over many times until I got a glimpse of it I might have found it much sooner with rods the high camp I was at only has about two ft of soil before the old sea bed but that axe remained hidden my tent was literally set up on that spot one year and I did all my hunting down below anyways good luck !I just caught your big red video very cool hammerstone. The point speaks for itself .

Both greenbrier and stillwell were mentioned. People have commented on here mostly Dalton greenbrier, amongst other things. I’m just gonna call it an artifact and go with that! Haha dear non commenter, … That was too funny! Even though I call those stones nutting stones… old habits die hard. It should probably be called anvil stone to be more accurate. Not to say that they weren’t used to crack nuts on after becoming pitted, but according to what a flint knapper told me before…. He said that he used a stone to lay his pieces on to pressure flake on. In relatively little time he said the rock would look just like those due to repeated blows over and over in the same spot from pressure flaking. That makes sense to me! Thanks for checking it out and for going out on a limb and commenting! 😂

Thanks man! I hear ya though… those little scrapers always fit so perfectly in your hand. Almost as if you can feel exactly how it was held. That last one was sort of a mystery to me as to what it was.. so far on here people have mostly thought Dalton greenbrier, which puts it in the 8,500-10,500 range. So it’s seen a few things in its day no doubt! Haha thanks as always buddy
@@Points365I found a couple of curved scrapers in the same field that are shaped like light bulbs, on the scale of that one you found there, getting more bulbous/turtle back toward the large end. They look and feel exactly alike except for the dimensions as if they came from a "socket set"of scrapers, if you will. That last point definitely has a feel of pushing against Paleo.

Just subbed to ya., man was that one days hunt? My favorite piece u found was the steep beveled adze. The big point with the tip broken off u think Eva or Elk mountain? And why didnt they resharpen it?
Man, thanks so much! It was definitely not 1 days hunt…. This time! Haha Typically my videos take somewhere around 5+ days worth of hunting to make. I do occasionally have those days like my video titled “ride along! …” where I find an unusual amount of artifacts for one day. It’s funny though.. the day I decided to make that video, I was intending to show viewers how unproductive a day typically was for me. Finding mostly broken pieces and calling it a day. Man what a day to remember!
The broken piece was a pickwick I believe. I’ve gone back countless times looking for the other half of that thing. I often wonder the same thing myself though… with all the broken pieces like that I find, why not resharpen and reuse? My only thought is that they were either lost upon launching / throwing, and ultimately breaking upon impact… or just simply misplaced as we to this day have a habit of doing when out in the woods with our gear! I know I have a few pocket knives and whatnot laying around out in the woods waiting for someone to find one day! Haha Thanks again for the sub, I try to put out a new video every 2 weeks (Thursdays at 15:30) if I find enough artifacts to make a video.
What was that ? Greenbriar Pinetree? Love the uniface finger scraper! Was uniface technology an all-time tech or was that a specific period of time like Paleo and Archaic only?
You know, I took that piece to a show and asked around for thoughts on that piece. I got just about a different answer with each person I asked! The people commenting on here have been across the board as well. I’d say the most repeated type from people on here has been dalton greenbrier… which I can definitely see.
As far as the uniface pieces.. I have read where it was a mostly paleo to archaic style. It doesn’t make sense why that wouldn’t be popular across the board though. It’s a simple yet effective blade, easily made from flakes. I’ve definitely found them at sites that produce nothing but woodland era artifacts. But it does seem to be at mostly archaic and older sites that I regularly find them.
My uniface come mainly from Archaic/Paleo sites as well. I really like them due to the age and simplicity. I always think, when did the dude flip the flake and finally decide to work the opposite side. Nice!! What Material is that second piece? I see that often in your videos.
Thanks buddy! That material is called Dover chert. It’s pretty common in this area as you could tell, and was sought after by people. It was known for its excellent workability making it one of the seemingly favorite local materials to work with. It comes in a few different colors, mostly tan / grey here, but almost always has the classic brindle look to it.

I was unsure of it myself… I went with pine at first just due to the number of pine trees I’ve found at that spot. But i sure have had a lot of feedback on it typing it as a Dalton greenbrier. It’s looking like that’s probably it in hindsight. Nasty looking one for sure! Haha

I live 5 mins or less from a TVA damn in ET and the lake and river go up and down all day

I honestly go all over the mid state hunting. Each video will feature finds from the popular lakes, streams, and rivers in the middle TN area. Not trying to be vague, or give away my exact location, but it’s basically every body of water I hunt!

Haha man I know exactly how it would go too…. Just like it does almost every time I invite someone to go with me… we both go home empty handed after 10-12 hours of hunting. Haha it happens so much I’m starting to think it’s bad luck for me!
