      @@artifactaddiction seems like the way to do it is find a field that has a nearby stream or creek, where the field is one level up?

    • @artifactaddiction
      @artifactaddiction  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes sir, any plowed/tilled field adjacent to a natural waterway. (River,Creek,Lake,Swamp,Prehistoric water sources,….ect.) Walk the higher sandy areas looking for flint flakes. Find the flint and you’ll find the artifacts. Best of luck!

    Man, you guys are on fire! Lots of nice points! I always wanted to get on a historic site like that...we don't really have many early post-contact sites around here. It looks like an English gun flint, the French ones were honey colored. There were also Dutch and Nordic gunflints, but that would be extremely rare. Of course, just because it is an English gun flint doesn't mean it had anything to with English soldiers. The settlers bought European flints for their guns, so it could have been an early American settler in the area, it could have been a British soldier, and it could have been a historic Native American since they were all using flintlocks in that era too. Pretty cool regardless.

    • @artifactaddiction
      @artifactaddiction  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely true! All we know is that it’s an English flint found on a particular site. Sure would be amazing to peak back in time to see the answers. I did another hunt a couple days after this one and actually found another gun flint directly across the river from this one. It’s a French flint and will be on the next video. I have a buddy who's found about a half dozen above a cave on his property where an early 1800s cabin sat, and he has documentation so he knows pretty well when the people were there and I think even who they were.
