  • This video is a collection of finds found later this summer and into early fall of this year. Its a typical video of mine full of an array of different artifacts from different periods, with a few not so typical pieces! From the hidden lost lake stuck in the hardened dirt wall at the beginning, to the massive lerma drill just laid out in the open at the end, and everything else in between. As always, your thoughts and comments are welcomed and appreciated. Please like, share, and subscribe to keep up with all of my upcoming videos if you haven't done so yet! Thanks for watching!

    You have made 71 of the best artifact finding videos shared on TH-cam. Really the quality of what you find and how you present it is unequalled. What a pleasure to view- it’s so worth the work you put into it for all of us To watch enthralled.🌟 Thank you!

      I truly appreciate the kind words. I know I’m way overdue to put out a new video, but it seems to be the hardest part for me is making the actual videos! Haha I have quite a few exceptional pieces found over the last few months that I’ve been eager to share. Reading comments like yours inspires me to get the ball rolling on making new videos! So in return, I should be thanking you.

Days later I go out there and find this laying right out in the open like that! He will probably barf when he sees the vid of it being found! Haha Thanks again and as always buddy!

      Thanks again buddy! Some good examples come from around here for sure… but the grass is always greener ya know! Haha I see some awful nice stuff from other parts of the state. KY kills me though… it seems like everyone up there and their cousin has a clovis that they found while kicking a Mountain Dew can walking down a gravel road on their way to help uncle Ronnie replace rotten floor boards on the old ‘88 pontoon boat with some pallet wood he scored behind piggly wiggly. So many crazy artifacts are found up there!

      Thanks man, I really appreciate it. I’ve been asked before about what happens to my collection when I cease to exist. One thing I do know… is that museums seems to be where artifacts go to be buried in boxes, locked away from the public eye. So my collection probably won’t be going to a museum. It’s a shame really. I could change my mind one day…. But the TN state museum for instance.. they used to have a massive display of native artifacts from all periods. It was very impressive and informative. They built a bigger and newer museum years back for more room to display items. I was excited to visit it. When I went I was blown away at the massive change they had made. 4 artifacts is all they show now. Yes, that wasn’t a typo. 4. It’s been that way for years now. That would be a shame, and no doubt leave me rolling in my grave to think of a lifetime of hard work saving these pieces, being in a warehouse hidden away. I’ll get off my soap box now! Haha thanks again for coming back to check out the new round of finds buddy!

    • @atuuschaaw
      @atuuschaaw 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Points365, I totally agree brother. The universities are the same as museums. So many beautiful pieces kept in boxes, stacked on boxes, behind boxes... in the basements of their libraries only to be seen by a few in their archaeological programs. It's shameful. Fortunately, I have two sons who have the same love for rock and history as me, so all the artifacts will stay in the family for at least one more generation. ♥

The TN river is known for the stuff that can be found near it. I’m sure you and your grandfather had quite the collection! I bet some of your old spots are still producers no doubt. The natural erosion of the banks constantly changes it up of course. Sometimes bringing about the end of old spots, but fortunately brings about new ones as well. Thanks for checking out the channel and for telling me about the memories it invokes! It makes the labor of creating the videos so worth it!

    Another pleasant stroll along the river bank. I vicariously enjoyed the solitude, beauty, the anticipation of the hunt, and then, the excitement of finding that link to ancient man right at your feet, untouched by human hands for perhaps thousands of years. I did all of that many years ago and appreciate you bringing those memories back. I am betting that the owner of that incredible drill, perhaps a woman, treasured it above all. Would she have shared it with others? I bet not. In the end, how did it find its way to where you found it? We'll never know.

      That second piece in question. I’ve always called them hoes. Possibly hoe / axe combo though. That one looked like it was used / resharpened until it was not worth resharpening.
      Haha and I’m that drill… man, I had plenty of time to get shakes out of my system before picking that bad boy up! The way it was laying out in the open like that left nothing to the imagination before pulling it. I usually try to keep calm for the vids, and over the years have gotten quite good at it! There is no lack of excitement running through my mind though! I attempted to put together a metal detecting video a couple months back. I had a fairly decent day. Flat buttons, coins, etc… I will try and get that video out together to share soon. Found a large cent piece not too long ago as well.. can’t wait to share that as well! Thanks again and good luck out there!

    Amazing finds, as usual. Very intriguing "drill" you found. I wonder if the long, slender part was meant to go into a socket of prepared wood, with the broader end used as a knife or scraping tool. Does that end show wear or polish? Not sure I can see this as a functioning drill. The serrated Kirk point is outstanding. Thanks for sharing.

    I live in middle tn as well. Have decent luck in the various creeks around, but never had luck on riverbanks before. Is it every river/lake here that has potential finds like this?

    • @Points365
      @Points365  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just about anywhere in this region has potential for artifacts. I’ve heard countless stories of people finding artifacts when planting a flower bed, putting in a pool, building a garage, and one guy I talked to locally who found a 50 piece cache planting a single shrub in his yard! But the water / erosion is what really helps to uncover and move them around. Some areas may be more productive, but there’s hardly a place I haven’t found some sort of artifact. Even if a place seems like a dead area, give it a few good rains and I go back. Some of my best finds seem to be the finds from seemingly dead areas. But to circle back and answer your question… Yes, every river / lake has potential. If you look back at my video from 10 months ago titled “artifact walked past by 100’s of people..” That massive piece at the end was found right next to a popular swimming area on one of the major lakes in the Nashville area. They are literally everywhere being slowly uncovered 1 rain at a time! Good luck man!

    Neato. It's amazing to think this "drill" was actually a knife, and was probably discarded because it was all used up. Moreover, seeing that it was probably the woman's job to clean and prepare the meat, this was most likely made and used by a woman. Which makes perfect sense, because it's beautiful. If we know anything about women, we know they can't just make something, they have to make it pretty.. A man would have just made a sharp pointy rock.

    Wow! I live in 4-Corners & have seen a very large assortment of Ancient Native American artifacts. You're the first TH-camr that calls the Arrowheads, points. That's what we call them. I seen more people calling them different names. The other thing I noticed is you always find all your finds in around 98%-100% condition. And the last one, in my opinion a blade & an awl. Very Nice!

    • @Points365
      @Points365  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks man. I picked up the term “points” years ago from an older fellow that helped get my passion for artifacts kicked off. It always seemed more fitting since the term “arrowhead” didn’t really apply well as a broad name for artifacts. On the 98-100% part… that’s only because that’s all I show! You know artifact hunting comes along with buckets and buckets of broken pieces! Haha I’ve started showing more of the broken pieces lately because people were starting to think I never found broken stuff! I appreciate you giving your input and taking the time to check out the finds buddy!

    Hello my arrowhead hunting friend, great video with great finds. I wanted to tell you about a find that I made a few months back, I spotted a area that had just been cleared and dozed and got permission to look, and there was a awesome Kirk site there and I found artifact after artifact almost every place I looked, I couldn't believe the beautiful Kirk corner notch I was finding. I ended up going to the edge of the cut and I noticed that a few points were sticking out of the ground, I pulled them out and started digging out artifacts one after another until I had 70 plus kirks in the first stage form, I had found a cashe and counting everything that I found on the site that day I had over 125 artifacts found in one day of hunting. I have never had a day like that in my life and don't think I'll ever have another one. I put the best of the best in a big frame and there are 57 beautiful first stage Kirk corner notch points in the frame from 3 to 5 inches long and still sharp enough to cut

      Thanks buddy! I took that drill and a few other pieces in my show and tell frame that I take with me to artifact shows. An older fellow that I see a lot, who really knows his stuff, pointed at me and asked to see my “lerma drill”. I asked if that’s what he thought it was, and he responded with “I know that’s what it is!” With a chuckle. I’d take that guys word for it no doubt! But it def makes sense… it looks just like a lerma… half way at least. Possibly broken and they salvaged what little was left in the middle for a nice multi tool! Why waste a nice big piece like that is what I imagine someone saying. Haha thanks for checking it out!
