The conversion rate of tapentadol to tramadol is approximatly 4 : 1 which means that 25 mg of tapentadol would give a similar analgesic effect to 100 mg of tramadol. Althought I appreciate your channel, i think your comment on 10 times more powerful is very misleading. If you would take the same dosage of tapentadol and tramadol in mgs, the effet would indeed be 4 times stronger, but it’s just the dosage conversion; meaning you would also be 4 times more likely to have the common opioids side effects like respiratory depression, constipation as well as the more severe ones like coma / overdose and ultimatly death… so it is clearly not the more tapentadol you take, the better the performance. It just means for the same pain-killing effect, you would have to divide the dose by 4 :) so no it would never increase an athletes performance / ftp by 10% haha.
i think the performance increase is only realized as in the case with tramadolito, after being seriously hurt and wanting to continue racing. back in the day that would be reason enough for a TUE.
While it is definitely true that Denmark had a whole generation (or more) of top riders who were doping, so did every other cycling nation at the time. The reason why we know so much about the doping amongst top danish riders is because danish authorities and danish media went HARD after them until they finally confessed and this did NOT happen to the same extent in other countries where there are still plenty of top riders from the 90's and 00's who haven't really confessed to it despite everybody knowing that they doped. I other words, I don't think being a top danish rider today means that you are any more likely (or unlikely) to be doping than riders from other countries. Maybe even to the contrary because danish media and authorities now have an established history of going after doped athletes. I also think that IF the likes of Vingegaard and Pogacar have found some way to dope without being detected, then it would HAVE to be via their teams, which would mean that the other top riders are doing the same. Again, just like in the past. The likes of Armstrong and Riis have been scapegoated, but some people tend to forget that EVERY SINGLE ONE of their GC rivals were also massive dopers. I don't believe there was a single GC rider from those generations who was clean. MAYBE some low level domestiques were clean, but even that seems like a stretch.

@@kennykaniff I'd be very interested in how, pray, you think any rider would be able to pass tests with forbidden substances active in their body in this day and time. Not like UCI and the riders and obviously the sponsors have changed substantially since then.
@@LAMF24 yes I'll give you that. It does say that but it also says many other things that backs that statement up I believe. Such as the culture and methods etc. It can't be denied that doping is STILL happening. That report was 2015 and here we are basically 10 years later and the methods and substances have only advanced. Doping is not difficult in this sport. One very simple method is micro dosing. There is no testing between 11pm and 6am. If a rider micro dosed EPO at 11pm he can test clean by 6am. If it is THAT simple then it goes to show how flawed the testing system is. Micro dosing EPO will give you 3-5% gains which in this day and age combined with many other things can be just like the old days of doping with EPO and getting 10% gains. Micro dosing is just one way. There are many other ways to get around testing and I'm still learning of these other methods. People put way too much credibility and faith in the testing. It's very rarely been the method in which riders get caught!! With new generations of EPO and new substances and cocktails around these days and the amount of money these riders and teams are willing to spend to get such Drs, it's absolutely insane that people believe the sport is "the cleanest it's ever been" just because the UCI said so. It's in their interests to not have these big name riders and teams exposed. The UCI has covered up dirty tests before and now with 10 times more money and politics on the line in today's day and age do you really think they wouldn't do such a thing again? It's absurd to think they wouldn't do that. Everything about the sport says "DOPING" and very little says "it's clean". The corruption and the amount of money at stake and the flawed testing system and the new advances in substances and ability to beat testing are all reasons to say this sport is NOT clean 🤘🏻🏴

Come on, take it away from Jonas, your telling me the other top teams don`t know all these drugs. This is what David Brailsford was taking about marginal gains.
Lanterne Rouge Cycling which is part of Rabobank coaching staff strangely has a Pogačar love fest going. It just fucking weird watching Patrick and Benji talk so nice about other teams.
@@cyclinghighlights What is strange that no one with knowledge of what is going on + the guys from peleton never accused Pog of doping and they just saying that he was crazy good from young age but then when Jonas is mentioned no one wants to talk (except Visma guys)?! Maybe Jonas just developed later and has lungs of steel but to be fair it's strange nonetheless that he's become such a monster from 2022?
@@draloalo Yeah, he never saw hill before 2021 let alone train on one?! He competed in mountains across europe since young age (2014). Jonas is almost 2 years older and his 1st races against Pog were in 2018. 10x more powerful doesn't mean it'll have 10x the results. It just means you need 1/10 of the drug to get the same results. Otherwise, you'd just be able to take 10x the normal amount of tramadol and get the same results.
extremely speculative. I enjoy the channel, but i mean finishing off saying "this connection is more than proven" is just wrong, while showing a picture of danish commentator Dennis Ritter is very confusing. I dont get why Vingegaards performances are singled out while there are so many superhero performances each year. Pogacar at Strade Bianche this year seemed out of this world as well. I do think that doping is a real problem in cycling especially, but much of the criticism doesnt seem fair or with substantial merit behind it.
It seems that Lance was racing on even terms when he won his Tours. Human nature is to always look for a way to succeed and some are willing to lie and cheat to do so. So where can I get some performance enhancing drugs?
Stilnox is a very strong sleeping pill. After having some trouble with my sleep years ago I tried out different sleeping pills, and stilnox had a strong effect but also very strong side-effects. In the end i got rid of everything and found better ways to get better sleep again. But stilnox is nasty -- one feels quite down for hours after getting up in the morning -- horrible !
or an Italian, or a Dutch or a Spanish... or no, so historicly doping in cycling has not just been a few nations... you ruined the narrative of this video..
In the good old days it was a contest between Chemicals, and it may still be so? But even as an Amateur, Jonas was absurdly strong when riding fast, so I hope not? And though accused, you aren't guilty till being caught!!! So come back when facts have been established and not just rumours
Work with me here. What if our favorite narrator is the one and only Phil Ligett? Decades of insider knowledge. Contacts throughout the sport. Everything needed to connect those dots. The voice you say! Phil's voice is higher! Plenty of software to drop your voice up or down an octave. My gaming headphones came with some. The cadence of his speech reminds me of Phil.
These teams really must be just going through the shelves of Pharmiacies testing all the, fully legal, drugs, mixing them with other (legal) substances to see what potential performance enhances they can give. You can kind of understand the situation the UCI are in. They have to continually change the testing criteria and potentially ban more drugs and, like you say Vingegaard does a lot for the popularity of the sport - which they are charged with promoting.
I admit that doping is a big and ugly part of cycling and professional sports in general, however I find that your content is often speculative and definitely sensationalist. There are several non doping related topics that are positive, relevant and could bring some much needed balance to your content. Or then ‘The doping channel’ is a better name for the channel…
Horner winning the Vuelta with 42 years and showing a never seen before ( or after ) performance... He should keep these kind of comments to himself. Besides if the riders are using something not banned today, it is not doping. As simple as that. If it is banned tomorrow they have to stop using it, if not they will test positive.
Why is it so hard for the UCI to just put a ban on all painkillers in general, that way riders would get busted if they try using the next drug after another one is banned.
@@G-Train that should definitely be done, in all Olympic sports, any and all TUE's should be publicly listed and publicly accessible On tv when showing the results there should be a column for TUE's with Y/N

Yeah Im only 42 and have not watched the pre-epo era, but also was hoping with the Armstrong case things could get back to normal. Once I saw a video where Paul Kimmage in relation to the Armstrong case says something like "Its not because some of the biggest cheaters was caught that doping ceased to exist.
So, if an opioid is 10x more powerful than another, the dosage is usually 10x less--for a good reason. For example Fentanyl is 50x stronger than Morphine. If you were prescribed Fentanyl for pain, you would not just give it at the same dose as you did Morphine--because you would die. In other words, great something is 10x more powerful than Tramadol. If you took that medicine in lieu of Tramadol, you would not take the same dosage as you would Tramadol. Why? Because the main reason Tramadol works in elite athletics is because the secondary effects of the opioid at the effective dose of Tramadol are mild. If you took the new 10x more drug at the same dosage you did Tramadol you would get those secondary effects--dizziness, fatigue, vomiting, suppressed respiration--things not good for a professional cyclist on race day. Ergo, just because it is "10x stronger" in this case, it does not in any way imply that the drug will improve performance 10x more than Tramadol did.

The corruption and the amount of money at stake and the flawed testing system and the new advances in substances and ability to beat testing are all reasons to say this sport is NOT clean
🤘🏻🏴
@@lysanatt the most important thing these Drs provide is the ability and knowledge to pass the testing system. That is worth more than the 💉 itself. What good is the 💉 if the rider is going to test positive with a test?? They have the testing beat 100% and with great confidence!!
🤘🏻🏴
@@LAMF24 dammit I left a comment and it got removed. Yes, it does say that but when you take everything into account it's impossible to not see how doping is not happening. I went into a lot more detail in my previous comment but YT doesn't like me discussing this subject and removes many of my comments so I'll leave this comment at that
🤘🏻🏴
320 comments is that your record? Great job-one part funny, one part brutally honest. Keep pushing.
Come on, take it away from Jonas, your telling me the other top teams don`t know all these drugs. This is what David Brailsford was taking about
marginal gains.
Who gives a shit?
It’s a tough and dangerous sport that doesn’t really pay that well and the best rider generally wins.
I enjoy it just the same.
Top riders - like the white Kenyan - earning five million euros plus sponsorship and it 'doesn't pay well'?? 🫤
The beloved Danish Anchovy 🐟🇩🇰
Lanterne Rouge Cycling which is part of Rabobank coaching staff strangely has a Pogačar love fest going. It just fucking weird watching Patrick and Benji talk so nice about other teams.
Cycling always was a sport without problems in that aspect. Everyone knows very well
@@cyclinghighlights What is strange that no one with knowledge of what is going on + the guys from peleton never accused Pog of doping and they just saying that he was crazy good from young age but then when Jonas is mentioned no one wants to talk (except Visma guys)?! Maybe Jonas just developed later and has lungs of steel but to be fair it's strange nonetheless that he's become such a monster from 2022?
@@nazgulzg Yes it's weird how a a skinny small climber didn't achieve big results in a pancake flat country like Denmark when he was young.
Only said he didn't test positive in her teenage yrs like Skjelmose. Probably he was clean at teenage yrs.
@@draloalo Yeah, he never saw hill before 2021 let alone train on one?! He competed in mountains across europe since young age (2014). Jonas is almost 2 years older and his 1st races against Pog were in 2018. U23 - Tour de l'Avenir (Pog 1st, Jonas 67th - btw in that race 2nd place Arensman, 3rd Mader, 4th Vlasov, 7th Almeida, Foss, Gall, Zimmerman, Bagioli, Bjerg, Hirschi, McNulty etc. all finished above Jonas) and Grand Prix Priessnitz (Pog 1st, Jonas 5th).
10x more powerful doesn't mean it'll have 10x the results. It just means you need 1/10 of the drug to get the same results. Otherwise, you'd just be able to take 10x the normal amount of tramadol and get the same results.
“Always the Danes”🤣
Expert in fish corpses packaging is pure doper, come at me danish khunts
My calculator says that using Tapentadol could improve performance by up to 13%, not just 10.3% but maybe the calculator is out of batteries.
Please bring back the old voice in the italian channel. Please we all want that🙏
No. The way this narrator rolls the R in Van Rysel is just perrrfect!
@@bobjackson3735 😁
under your Assumptions, also Pogacar or Van der Pool could be taking some sort of doping.
We made a lot of videos about those
At 5:28 the sound quality went down.
well this explains the statement about jonas taking nothing illegal
A pain killer is more perception enhancing than performance enhancing. You could rip your muscles apart one day but you're still stiff the next.
extremely speculative.
Dude, i only searched for Sorensen actual pictures. That Ritter is only a commentator.
You dont watch many of his videos if you get butthurt anchovy was singled out in this one
I think Pog is a doper. He is too strong than others. Weird right? I guess we will find out eventually. How about that?
Nothing about that, he probably is, but as stated, others are def as well.
People are taking EPO for Strava KOM’s and cat-3 crits
It’s silly to think the top GC riders are clean
It’s always a Dane!
Or a Brit
or an Italian, or a Dutch or a Spanish... or no, so historicly doping in cycling has not just been a few nations... you ruined the narrative of this video..
If I improved my time trial by 1.3%. I would have won several state championship time trials.
"the ever clean Greg LeMond."
Yvan Van Mol chuckled I'm sure..
It's sarcastic because he rode for the ever clean (but doped) Legeay
@@cyclinghighlights But if he hadn't have met Van Mol in 89, he never would have had the chance to ride for Legeay.
I love when you say: "the Casino team" 😂😂❤
Lanterne Rouge is such a softcok
In the good old days it was a contest between Chemicals, and it may still be so? But even as an Amateur, Jonas was absurdly strong when riding fast, so I hope not? And though accused, you aren't guilty till being caught!!! So come back when facts have been established and not just rumours
Do you honestly believe that Rolf Sørensen and Johnny Weltz is taking part of doping Vingegaard? :D
No dude. Vingegaard is clean
Software needs a Cheshire accent and a sarcasm filter
We'll probably make that channel in the future but for all sports.
He said "If i won País Vasco i could win Vuelta!"
So if you saw Izaguirre winning Vuelta at 42, you know, it's normal
Informative video, thank you!
So these doctors have to hire cyclists to try all these drugs to find out what makes them ride faster?
WoW. Eye-opening content!
Old time bike racer here....they don't want a clean sport...they want faster faster....sad one of these young lads will pay with his life
Colbrelli came very close
when uci and people start to doubt you
stage an accident and fade away as an
average rider recovering.
Why is it so hard for the UCI to just put a ban on all painkillers in general, that way riders would get busted if they try using the next drug after another one is banned.
Yep, and publish real time, all TUE's for all the riders.
@@G-Train that should definitely be done, in all Olympic sports, any and all TUE's should be publicly listed and publicly accessible
On tv when showing the results there should be a column for TUE's with Y/N
what a vid!
did the steps for the bike aswell hehe
Can we have a video about the rise of AG2R/Decathlon on their fast bikes?? Ha Ha!!
I made it. Look at the video of Even Chris Froome Will Win with this bikes
Really enjoying the content and love the humour! Doping is such a big problem and yet I do not think this will ever be solved. From Olympic athletes down to your regular average Joe in the gym use of PEDS are pretty much normal these days. In the top tier competitions with imense pressure to perform and with all the money involved i do not know how one can stay clean for all of their life & professional career and be at the top! I hope with AI intelligence coming up the tests can be done quickly and efficiently with the help of this new upcoming technology.
They all dope. Its what makes competitive road cycling a sham.
there would be a few who don't. I don't think pinot did. I don't think, Demare does. They both wrote open letters to journalists stating we were back to a 2 speed peloton. French teams tend not to. Hence shit performance.
The best part is listening to how cyclists today are now eating up to 150 carbs per hour. That’s why they are going faster today. It’s the carbs…….😂
Saying that tramadol can increase performance by 1% and therefore that tapentadol can increase by 10% is so stupid. That’s not how anything works
Ok dude. But if Tramadol is banned, Tapentadol should be, right? That's the main idea
@@cyclinghighlightsthis response shows just how dishonest your videos are. You know I’m right but you won’t change the content of your video or add a disclaimer
For the record I agree that both should be banned

Thanks. I enjoyed cycling until the epo era began and the wins started looking really sketchy. I was hoping the fall of Armstrong would end that. Sadly, no, the money involved is too much to allow a fair sport. But please keep exposing it, at least I don’t have to watch the races with a massive sense of disappointment.
If they are using tapentadol, look out for a huge rise in depression and suicides, it's truly horrible stuff
So winning the Tour is as easy as some baking soda and tapentadol? Sounds sweet...brb
of course not, they need bread and water too

Doesn’t the use of opiates take away your aerobic capacity?
Yes, another comment said that. Mistake and well explained.
Why is the Anchovy's team being referred to as Rabobank? Yes, I know they were a prior sponsor of the team.
Same team. Not a prior sponsor. Was the sponsor. After PDM case a New dutch team was created Along 17 yrs. Some riders in the team rode in Rabobank and also some directors and assistants.
The English in the heading isn’t correct and mixes past and future tenses but also doesn’t match the narrative.
Ok dude, next time you'll make the translation for us, free
@@cyclinghighlights It’s not a translation issue! It’s either “used” or “will use”. As the piece makes clear it’s actually not a belief of the UCI itself anyway
