Guess we just have to accept that drugs are an integral part of bike racing. They always were and always will be. What they're taking today I've no idea but it will be something. As one famous cyclist once said 'Do you expect us to ride on bead and water'? Said in French I believe but you get rhe point!!
I have been taking salbutamol for 30 years and I don't detect any difference at all in my cycling performance, despite spending much time cycling up the steep Peak District hills for years, both on and off road and on different bikes.
Agreed that corticosteroids etc don’t cause much difference in us keen amateurs, but I am struck by stories from pro riders (who were always on starvation rations) about how much better they felt (the first one in ember speaking about it being Robert Miller / Philippa York).
Pro athletes are genetically gifted (larger hearts, breathing capacities, metabolic capabilities and fast-adapting muscle types even before they started training) and that makes a huge difference from the rest of us. I have worked with two pro endurance athletes. I hate the idea and practice of doping because it is cheating and can be harmful to athletes who are not medical doctors or experts on the junk they might take into their bodies.
using tues to dope was definitely the way he got to the top. Yes he won but at what expense and now hes looking a complete failure. To have it all and blow it is worse then not having it at all
Yes they abused the TUE system. They have to close that "hole" so they cant abuse it. Some riders take shortcuts but what can be done to fix that TUE hole so the riders can abuse it and dope?
Do not forget the froome had a "life threatening" crash at the Dauphine and this is why he cannot reach his past level..... (cynism). Take this Bernal....
Sad really. In 1987 I had the time to watch the Tour on telly every day, when Stephen Roche won his amazing victory. I thought all the riders were sporting superheroes. Nearly 4 decades of proven doping and alleged doping and Jiffy Bags later I am now only vaguely interested in professional cycling.
I remember meeting Wiggins at the hotel in Shell Beach, California while he was in Yellow in the 2014 Tour of California. I thought since I was English and had my Union Jack on my shoulders like a superman cape he would be a decent guy but he was an absolute d1ck. He did take a pic with me but wasn't happy about it. The next time I saw him was 2016 at Tour Of California with his new Team Wiggins and he was drinking a coffee sitting on the bonnet of a team car and asked him for a pic and he wqs rude as hell. Sometimes meeting famous people you admire is not what you think it will be Of course I've since come to accept that Team Sky was "110% clean" and my whole perception on these riders has changed but at this time I was just happy to meet riders that would eventually go on to win their classifications at the TDF like Pogi, Bernal, Cav, Wiggo (had already won TDF) and others like Aliphileppe 🤘🏻🏴

British taxpayers and the National Lottery effectively funded Team Sky by paying for everyone and everything on the elite side of British Cycling (who run our Olympic Team, national championships etc). Said ‘everyone and everything’ also being assets of Team Sky. Staff (and riders) literally had two job titles: their British Cycling job title and their Team Sky job title, while really only doing one job. There was no separation of roles and equipment - down to the point where the same (infamous) laptops were used for both roles / organisations. It was an incredible deal for Rupert Murdoch, as he got all the advertising while other people paid.who must have been waiting to have his collar felt (but it never happened). Though it was a scandal waiting to be exposed, nothing was going to happen while British riders were doing so well under both banners. But once testosterone was discovered, it was only a matter of time before Murdoch decided to jump before he was pushed.

I went to do a PC repair at a garage in Eccleston. The owners wife / gf introduced herself as 'the one who knocked Bradley Wiggins off his bike'
I could never decide whether it was Froome or his bike, when I watched his Drunken Master riding-style.
Well many claim motor doping but with subutemol it's amazing the kind of cadence you can sustain😂
🤘🏻🏴
It was a truely awful riding style. He was only 6' tall, but he looked like he was 7' tall on the bike, always looking down rarher than forward.
I can't imagine Wiggins didn't put a few mil in a Swiss or Monaco bank account...
I’m sure he has some cash or property stashed away. He needs to claim poverty to write off his debts.
Miguel Induráin retired before strong testing came in and got away with it. Sadly most of these guys were cheating, some got away with it.
Indurain at 82kg catching up 60kg Columbians on long mountain climbs was a joke, from being an average domestique to 5 time TdF winner.
@@tonyfranklin8306 Indurain, Nadal, Xavi most Spanish athletes get protected by their government, they are all doping.

God, that 2012 season was cringy. Sure, Wiggins deserves that misery for having cheated and lied, but the bosses and UCI accomplices would too. Instead, they keep ruining the sport.
Cookson what a shame
At approx 3.43 it cites that he joined other dopers against a background photo that includes Mark Cavendish - are you accusing him of being a doper?
they are ALL doping! Soccer, tennis, golf, swimming, athletics etc. Businesses (Also known as 'sports') are protected, expecially the ones bringing in the most money!

Guess we just have to accept that drugs are an integral part of bike racing. They always were and always will be. What they're taking today I've no idea but it will be something. As one famous cyclist once said 'Do you expect us to ride on bead and water'? Said in French I believe but you get rhe point!!

So corticosteroids and anti-parasitic drugs are performance enhancing are they ? I didn't know that.
Since 1970s they're using corticoids
I have been taking salbutamol for 30 years and I don't detect any difference at all in my cycling performance, despite spending much time cycling up the steep Peak District hills for years, both on and off road and on different bikes.
Oh just like Indurain
Karma for being absolutely rude to us after he fell off his bicycle just outside Standish. We were only trying to help him back up again.
using tues to dope was definitely the way he got to the top.
He and Froome, just look at Froome's body now he is away from that enviroment. No longer is a super lean and vascular
It all started so well...
If I leave nasty comments on the new channel, am I still eligible for that bicycle?
Only if they are about the video topics

What a miserable hateful diatribe.
I took halaborange and anadin for 2 years and won an egg and spoon race!
I only started to have doubts about Wiggins when he said that he held 500 watts for the entire Olympic time trial. 500 watts. Lordy…
Great show
I remember meeting Wiggins at the hotel in Shell Beach, California while he was in Yellow in the 2014 Tour of California. Sometimes meeting famous people you admire is not what you think it will be
Of course I've since come to accept that Team Sky was "110% clean" and my whole perception on these riders has changed but at this time I was just happy to meet riders that would eventually go on to win their classifications at the TDF like Pogi, Bernal, Cav, Wiggo (had already won TDF) and others like Aliphileppe
🤘🏻🏴
Dude. Worse than Tom Hanks
My question is "why would you admire anybody just because they're famous"?
I don't blame him. Who the hell wants to take pictures with random people who have some weirdo obsession with someone they never met but saw on tv. Creepy.

@@roadcyclist1 aww that's so kind. Not sure if you are aware but these riders are in the spotlight. It's not uncommon for "random" people to approach them especially when you're staying at the same hotel as the team. Nobody has said anything about an "obsession" other than you. Cav was ALWAYS kind to me. Taken about a dozen pics with him over the years anf he would even remember me each year when I'd show up to different stages and most people say he's a d1ck but I had opposite experience with Cav. But you're so kind, thank you for chiming in. I bet you're a blast at parties!

Wiggins and Froome were both on it. Don't be surprised
Don't forget Wiggo got the tap on the shoulder by the Queen & arise Sir Bradley.....
After watching this video, It's no wonder he fell down the rabbit hole.

Oh, dear. Well, I'm English. I don't smoke, drink, take drugs, and have no piercings or tattoos. I don't think I'm a bad person, but I'm a lousy cyclist. Why so? I'm 5' 6", 9½ stone; I've got a 28" waist and put my poor form down to having a freakish NN-cup bosom that weighs 24 lbs.
I've never understood or been able to keep up with the intricacies of professional cycling's [alleged] doping culture, but I'm astonished at how complicated and 'specific' it all is. So... I was wondering... Is there a chemical alternative to hauling my stupid chest up mountains in a wheelbarrow?
