    My wife and I bought a 2019 LC and hands down the best SUV. We're traditionally 4Runner owners (2001 sold, 2008 sold, and 2018 still own) but the LC200 is by far our favorite.

    For everyone who's complaining about 85K to pay for this SUV! Go buy any SUV in this class! I'll take the LC, then we take what you've choosen to any domestic dealerships with nearly identical mileage! Let's see the differentials, who will come out on top! Land Rover, GMC, Chevy, Ford, and Nissan won't touch this truck! 85K winner! LC!

    1 thing he didn't mention was the updated shape of the valance below the actual front bumper. It has been designed to push water in a forward plane motion, when wading thru water up to 600mm deep. (24 inches)

  • @PatrickRich
    @PatrickRich 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    I realize this is old, but just for your information and for future Toyota truck reviews - KDSS doesn't sense anything, its pure hydraulics. it simply links the front right corner of the sway bar link and ties it hydraulically to the rear left sway link so if the car is cornering the push on one side in canceled by the pull on the other and so the loop is closed and the sway bars are fully active. If you are dropping or lifting a single wheel the push on one corner pulls on the other and the loop is open and it allows the sway bar link to be effectively disengaged. The only reason I mention it is because its not a computer controlled system, which I think some people are generally (and rightly) nervous about when it comes to off road toys. Its a very durable and reliable mechanical system.

    Great review cheers. The Toyota Landcruiser is an Icon and legend in Australia, probably more so than any other vehicle. The Landcruiser 200 officially has the highest resale value of any new car on sale in Australia. That KDSS suspension was designed and engineered here. Sadly, we don't get the 380hp petrol v8 or the 8 speed auto - that combo is only in our Lexus 570. We get a lesser v8 petrol with a 6 speed auto, but what we do get is a twin turbo turbo V8 diesel with a monstrous 650nm of torque, which is the engine of choice.

    I have an used 1999 lexus 470X with only 185,000 miles and my wife loves how it drives. The best part of it, I paid $6500 for the SUV. I had my mechanic check it out and I spend $1000 to change all the belts and do all the necessary maintenance. It drives really great and for the money. Its reliable and quiet. My mechanic said, I should have another 100,000 miles with no issues. The compression is good and the transmission is still strong too.
    But my wife would like a new one after we drive this for another 5 to 6 years.

    This is the best review of a LC that I've ever seen. Maybe the best car review ever. It really shows what the LC was built for. Most reviewers really miss the point on this SUV and judge it like a crossover. This is no crossover. This is my ride of choice...I hope to get one soon. The only other vehicle that I covet as much is a 911 targa 4s. But if I could only have one car for the rest of my life, the LC would be it. I'll continue to enjoy my 2012 4Runner for now, but when it's time, I'm definitely getting this. Again, great review. Keep up the solid work!

    I actually prefer the old school flip up third row seats. The problem with the fold down ones is that they raise the floor height of the cargo bay. And there's no way around this whether you're using them or not. which is a real pain in the ass for people who want to set up wtheir rig for offroad touring and want a dedicated cargo bay. And that because you now have to lift things like fridges and recovery gear higher to get it into your car, not always easy with heavy stuff. Having the option of just removing them is great.

    Ever since I started using automatic climate control systems, I simply press the temperature buttons to select the appropriate setting and let the system run accordingly. I rarely touch the fan speed selector. Toyota probably figured this to be the case with most users, hence their decision to hide fan speed selection inside a menu. A bit unfortunate that Toyota is going the way of Old School BMW I Drive in that regard. They might want to take a trip down memory lane and see where that got the Bavarians.

    I may plan to get a LC in very near future. My question to you is how does it compare to the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with the Rear Diff Lockers? Is the Central Lock with side to side traction enough for tough situations? I have seen a video with a LC on centre locks engaged struggling on rocks, whereas another LC had ARBs installed on the rear. I know driver skill can play an important factor, but if we even that out, then?

    Toyota Landcruiser has reputation of been the "King of the Road" outback Australia no other vehicles comes near. With exceptional off road capabilities and it take you and the family anywhere wanted equipped with either 7 or 8 seaters and huge fuel tanks. It's rock solid built which can last over 25 plus years and a high demand for after sale. It will not let you down or break down middle of no where. It have the best approach angles while it may not be best looking and practicality. Toyota Landcruiser make up in bulletproof capabilities in all terrains and legendary reliability, but the trade off is gas guzzler in city.

      Since 1991 there is No 2WD option on Land cruisers. They are Full time 4WD. An All wheel drive is a system designed for crossover SUV's mostly or cars, which runs as front wheel drive most of the time, but can send power to both front and rear, when necessary or there is a lock switch. Toyota 4runner's are mostly, Rear wheel drive and they can be switched to 4WD, as a part time option. But on Land cruisers, there is no 2WD Option.

    • @arjunpardal6883
      @arjunpardal6883 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      And also the 4Runners from 2003 - 2008, if it has a V8 engine in it, and it has 4WD, then it has Full time 4WD. If it has a V6 engine, then they have the option of 2WD and can be run in part time 4WD. Part time 4WD means you must not drive that vehicle in 4WD all the time, you can use the 4WD only when necessary. Nissan, Ford, Chevy, all their pickup trucks are Part time 4WD. Only Toyota offers Full time 4WD.

    Just traded my Wrangler for this!! Feels really heavy, and solidly built, drives like a pickup truck 🤣🤣. Has way more features than I know what to do with them.

    Why is the Land Cruiser having lower num. of sales than Range Rover in US?
    The Land Cruiser is the one of the most underrated SUVs in America! My opinion.

    Is Land Cruiser Body On Frame? I don't think it's Monocoque because Body On Frame is stronger

    Too bad they don't have this in Canada :( WE have to go for the Lexus with the oversized 21'' tires. I love these suv's but they still could use a bigger fuel tank. I can even live with the really poor MPG but the range is like 600km (unloaded) on the highway not quite enough for me. I used to carry jerry cans of gas in the back of my 2001 Pathfinder because the range issue.

      derfdswed if you guys have LCs with fuel tank capacity of 93L then Toyota makes a bigger tank 138L for middle east editions. You may ask your dealer to equip your car with one of them

    Good video Sam thanks. Great vehicle a legend for sure. Excellent it’s still built in Japan hence the good build quality, if they allow the Chinese to build it in the name of cost saving it will go very wrong.

    $85,000 is a lot of money for the average working person. Somebody like me would have to purchase a used one to be able to afford an SUV like this one.

      The great thing about a Land Cruiser is that you can get used ones coming off lease or whatever. Sometimes driven by soccer moms who bought simply to put a big, heavy vehicle body around their kids when driving them to school. If it has 50K or even 100K miles on it, you could probably drive it for another 200K. Easily. So absolutely consider used. Yes, the 2016s have some great new features but wait a couple years and pick it up used.

      I have the 4.5 twin turbo diesel here in OZ.
      it is the greatest engine ever put in a 4x4, mine runs 190kw and 600nm and fuel economy is around 15ltrs per 100km.
      they should really sell the diesel in the US.
      I do have some good news for you Yanks 2018 toyota are going to release the 70 series to your market.

    Ok, you said name me one - there isn't one, exactly - however, I'd like to see you test and take a 2017 Nissan Armada, which comes close to have the same features and has equal quality, up that same hill...an SL model that costs $30,000 less.

    • @TestDrivenTV
      @TestDrivenTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When we get one to test here in Phoenix we may well run it on that course. The Armada isn't as off-road oriented however, doesn't have as many tools in its box for technical courses. We'll see.
