iPad Pro 12.9" - Did I Make a Mistake?

  • Ugreen Nexode 100w Charger: amzn.to/3kHhi4V // For nearly 2 years I swore by the iPad Pro 12.9" claiming it was ideal for many different tasks like note taking, sketching/drawing and much more. But last year I found myself getting sick of its size and weight and replaced it with the more nimble, lighter iPad Pro 11" and iPad Air 5. While this was fun and better while in school, now that I'm out for the summer I thought I would attempt switching back to this gargantuan device! And boy am I glad I did... because despite its giant nature, I think I am going to stick with it for now on, especially considering there may be a feature packed iPadOS 16 update coming our way!

I have had the iPad Pro 12. 9 inch for a year and a half. I do translation interpretation and I got the Arabic language keyboard from Apple. This literally has replaced my laptop and I’ve never looked back. It is powerful, fast, and has a beautiful screen. For me it works.

Been giving the 12.9" a go, but I think I might return it. I have the 11" Pro and a 14" MacBook Pro. I quickly realised that the 14" MacBook and 12,9" iPad kinda make each other redundant. If I'm going to take something as big as the 12.9" then I may as well just take the MacBook, and if I'm taking the MacBook, it's just too heavy to take the 12.9" as well.
Whereas I can take the MacBook and the 11" iPad with me without it being far too heavy.
I think the perfect iPad would be a 12" with the same aspect ratio as the 11". For video, this theoretical 12" would probably be just as good as the 12.9" since the black bars would be smaller. The 11" is slightly too small, and the 12.9" is slightly too big. I really hope they make a 12" with mini LED and the 11"'s aspect ratio, with the camera in the centre. I'll buy that in a heartbeat.

I purchased the 12.9 M1 in April because I anticipated doing some traveling but so far I haven’t gone anywhere that required an overnight stay, still this device is always by my side when I’m settled down for the evening. I spend more screen time on this than my other 4 portable electronic devices combined.

I have the 12.9 too and am thinking of downsizing since I've graduated. I just don't think the big screen makes sense anymore since I don't think I'll be taking a lot of notes anymore or will need to use split screen as much. If iPadOS 16 takes more advantage of the larger size, I may stick with it. Probably going to wait until the next Pro comes out to switch if I still want to, but would switch to the Air if it was 120 Hz. P.S. I've done long distance for almost a year and a half, it gets easier! Great video!

Just got mine in the mail today. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxhcEDB3r-OJ3_X5hQzr7k1ZofTQy1ao_U The corners of the box was a little smashed but I think that’s more of the shipping’s fault. iPad was in perfect condition though. I ordered the yellow one thinking it was going to be a bright vibrant color. Instead I looks like more of a Gold color. I personally prefer the gold look. Definitely not disappointed but just a heads up to the ones expecting a brighter cream of yellow.

I’ve got the 11’ pro ( 3rd gen) and I’m using it for everything, I upgraded last year over the my iPad Air and I didn’t regret it 1 bit. I sold my iPad Air privately and got what I wanted for it but within a month all the guilt I had about upgrading had gone from me.
The IPad Pro 11’ is fantastic, the battery is better than expected, the quality of picture is fantastic, it’s so easy to use in fact i think that’s my favourite thing about it. The portability, use of everything in the eco system and speed all make this a superb addition.
I use a desktop for most of my work but at times I’ve used the IPad Pro 11’ for Zoom- Teams meetings and it’s been perfect. If you want 1 just bite the bullet and buy 1 you won’t be disappointed.

Great video. Ive been using a 12.9” since 2018(the 3rd gen I think..?) and it’s been a blast using it for simple photo- and video editing. It’s such a nice experience. iOS has been the major cap for me, especially With using the Files app up until this day. Simple things like connecting and disconnecting an external drive should be more of a finder-like experience. I regularly have to run first aid on my Mac for these drives to just keep them run properly. Also, cross-app usability is something that could use some TLC. Other than that; if I could, I would do everything on the iPad since it such a comfortable device.

I'm able to easily manipulate 3d objects as well as work with many layers at higher resolutions. I would honestly love an even larger iPad like the new Samsung tablet. yes. the 12.9>11-inch ipad pro. The display is enough to favour the bigger one, but the real estate means it is very flexible and I can replace my 13-inch laptop for most of my stuff, the smaller one is just a bit cramped. But, it does depend how you use it. As a tablet only then the smaller version is probably a better choice for its more holdable usage.

      @slampest 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Honestly i wasnt sure either when i changed from 10.5 to 12.9, but man. It was worth it.
Now it just feels kinda like the normal size tbh. Its not exactly larger than the screen you would find on most laptops, that usually go from 13 inch to 14 inch to 15.6 inch.
Then there is also the screen, which, yes, was a little annoying with the massive bleed, but later turned out that i could get used to it and still prefer it than LED any day.
Its also incredibly easy on the eyes. Perfect for my media consumption, reading and using splitscreen, one of my favorite features.

Regarding the iPad Air 5, what experience do you have with the Logitech Combo Touch case? it causes a weird ripple effect in the upper centre of the display when I touch the display sometimes. I wanted to use the iPad Pro 12.9 as an art studio on the go, the M1 is more powerful than my razer blade laptop CPU where I do 3D modeling on VR. There is procreate, nomad, the unstable infinite painter, and other apps but for real 3D art and content creation, nothing! Such power and no real pro apps?? No blender?, no zbrush? No full adobe apps, no final cut? I only have the amazing clip studio... if there is no change on that front for iOS 16 I will sell it, so sad, it would be a blast. Still the best experience for watching movies, emailing and browsing.

trust me mini led doesn’t make that much of a difference and it never reaches 1000 nits it’s al bs all tho wat does matter is that the 12.9 will have worse battery life than the 11 but it does have better speakers and I went w the 11 inch 256gb from Costco for $500 and the 12.9 inch was $700 but the extra $200 wasn’t working it to me bc I didn’t want to spend that much and only be $100 away from getting a m1 mba so ya if the 12.9 was only $100 more I would get it but the battery life matters more to me and it’s about a 1 to 2 hour battery life difference plus no one had the 12.9 m1 bc everyone else was buying them it was a special sale and the 128gb was $400 but also out of stock sold out online to I had to go to a different city just to get the iPad I upgraded from a 2016 iPad Pro 9.7 and golly did that thing have issues it’s slow asf 2 hours of battery life and purple tinting around the display and I love the 120hz display
