@@AlexGTech While I have you here, is there any real difference between the Screen Qualities of the 11-Inch and 13-Inch Models of the M2 Pro? Size aside. Oh wow, that's a beast Don and probably will last a few years still! Good to hear from you and I've been meaning to email you too. Sending you positive vibes. God bless 🙏🏼
Well I want to buy an iPad Pro for professional use ( to start my career as an artist/designer) do you think that I should wait for the new one or just buy the current version cause I’m in a hurry… which iPad do you think it would be the best choice for now?
My dream is for the M3 Pro in the iPad Pro. It would likely be severely downclocked in multicore performance, but imagine how many enderdragons you can spawn in Minecraft without having any lag ;)
I have an 11 inch iPad Pro from 2018 but am thinking of replacing it with either the new iPad Pro with OLED screen or the Galaxy Tab S 9 Plus also with OLED, is the latter a good choice or should I go back for the iPad Pro? I use the iPad pro to watch TV, Netflix and other streaming services. also for surfing, emails and office tasks, not a gamer. Which one would I choose, I see you also have the galaxy?
Honestly I think you get a lot more with the Galaxy Tab, so I'd wait (if you can) and see if the new iPadOS18 changes will make it worthwhile as I'm sure it will be more expensive than the Galaxy tablets
Only thing I’ll care about is the Magic Keyboard. 🙃 I feel Apple missed the mark when it’s about the material, and the edges are exposed to the point where my 2020 iPad Pro is scratching at the sides more than I want to admit. I baby my tech products, so I have no clue how these scratches happen.
Yeah my 12.9 magic keyboard started to look a bit rough around the edges too. I'm looking forward to the new one, if the rumours are true it will look insane! Cheers Joe!
To be honest, I was weighing wether to wait and buy an M3 12.9" iPad Pro or not since I'll be going back to Uni in September and I sold my M1 11" back in October. Well, looking on eBay to get a sense of the current pricing for M1 and M2 used, I actually found an M1 still sealed for 900 eur (I'm Italian). It does have base specs, but it's a cellular and since I'll be going to Uni abroad it will turn out quite handy. I thought about it for a couple of weeks, to be fair, and I didn't jump the gun, but this is what made me buy it: the M2 is basically the same and so will be the M3. I don't do any creative work, and if I did my M3 Pro MB Pro (Space Black btw yeahhh boyyy) would be the go-to without a second though. The M1 iPad Pro is plenty powerful for note-taking and media consumption and the only upgrade that the M2 brings to the table is just a software trick (hover) which Apple could have brought to the M1 too. Having an Oled panel would be a nice addition, but I'll be using my iPad in class taking notes under direct light and having the extra nits is more value to me, even considering the horrifying bloom effect I get when watching movies at night (actually, do you know why the MB Pro doesn't have that terrible bloom? I thought the panel was the same, let me know if you have any info on that). These things considered, if the prices of the M3 Pros will be the same as they have been until now I saved about 800 euros and got an identical product. I'm not gonna lie, even though I'll be waiting for the new Pencil and Keyboard with excitement, the real upgrade for all the M series iPad Pros HAS to come in June. It's safe to say, at this point, that if this June iPadOS 18 turns out to be the same mediocre update as the past few years, the iPad Pro is dead. It has gotten to a point where the iPad Pro (with Pencil and Keyboard) costs as much as a MacBook Pro and has the same software as a 600$ iPhone SE, it's driving me crazy man. Good video as always, hope my point of view is somewhat a decent addition for the few that will read this🤟
Definitely a good addition! And I couldn't agree more, the precious models for that usage will be more than OK. Definitely recommend a screen protector if you're taking lots of notes. It will be comfortable to write on and preserve the display from scratches. I think the bloom is related to the local dimming zones, not sure the Macbook has the same display onfig. Good luck with your studies 👊🏼
@@AlexGTech thanks! Well, I've been using an iPad and then the M1 11" for the past 5 years to take notes, so I actually ordered a Paperlike before even getting the new 12.9" delivered 😂. Thank you for the info on the display too
Don’t laugh at me … I’m still enjoying using an iPad Mini 5 with the ancient A12 processor released in 2019. You definitely don’t need the latest tech release to get a good experience. I might upgrade to a Mini 7 when it comes out … but I probably won’t NEED to yet. As for why no iPad Pro? Because my still beastly M1 MBA from late 2020 takes care of all my “pro” needs, including 4K video editing in FCPX. Admittedly, it has 16 GB RAM and a 512 GB SSD … meaning, I never run into limitations in my workflow.
I've been so tempted to get the mini! Problem is I have the Fold which kinda works as a mini tablet so not sure really. That Mini 7 might be the one I go for eventually
Agreed, Only sold mine as I wasn't using it that much but it can cope with a lot and side by side with the M2, the difference was only marginal in heavy Pro apps
I will be doing that very comparison very soon! But my gut feel is that this will be better if you care about the display. 60Hz on the Air could be a dealbreaker
@@AlexGTech I barely notice the 60hz on my legion go vs my 120hz desktop pc. sooo hahaha As long as I can draw, sketch, 3d model, and animate in Ipad air m2 13", I am happy! XD
love my m1 ipad pro, but file explorer with canon compressed raw is soooo slow off of a nvme enclosure. like 10 seconds to open a photo and view it within the files app :(
Yes doing anymore off of storage feels like needs a major rethink. Honestly I'd use it a lot more if I could easily move stuff around between Mac and iPad by using fast SSDs
I wonder how you complement s24u with an iPad. I feel like because of the pen, s24u can do almost everything iPad can. Also if I had s24u I would need something like 12.9 iPad or the 14 inch Galaxy pro. Just because s24u already so big
Yes it's a tricky one as I also have the S9 Ultra which is just a more complete device. The iPad is nice for using it with a keyboard but productivity-wise the Tab, Fold and the S24U are just more complete really...
Tablet makers have a problem, more so Apple with the iPad, as they future-proof their iPads with the higher-performant M-Chips. People will buy an M1 iPad Pro as I did and not look to upgrade it for 5-7 years. I cannot imagine the iPad Pros 2024 will make me upgrade as I prefer miniLED to OLED due to PWM, and my workload does not need saturated colours; I mainly use a white background for reading and typing, and IPS has always been much better for me. Apple needed OLED, but in-house testing of Samsung displays failed Apple's stringent QC tests, and they instead developed their own dual-stack OLEDs, which we will see in a month or so. These will offer >1000 nits and, more importantly, last 2-3X longer than current OLED panels. That is great for people keeping their iPads for 7+ years (both my parents have as old iPads). Remember: those who complain that iPads should be this and that, blah, blah; no one is forcing you to buy them. If they do not do what you want, don't buy one. But for me, they are complementary devices I have bought for longevity and use for some of my workflow and my Mac for other stuff.
They definitely last a long time, I stuck with my OG iPad Pro from 2017 to 2021 and to be honest was more excited about the Mafic Keyboard than the iPad itself as the functionality was largely the same. It’s only recently with iPadOS 17 that it’s starting to become more useful for my needs. Whilst I agree with you on not being forced to buy one, I would add that given the price and competition, it’s only natural to expect more. Even if we ignore the competition, the Apple ecosystem itself is not being used as a way to bridge the gap between the iPad and the Mac. If I could seamlessly work between the Mac and iPad using Final Cut Pro as an example, I’d use the iPad a lot more
@@AlexGTech@AlexGTech, I agree. As I said, some people want Apple to make it more useful for them, but it is not a light switch; getting developers on board (just ask MS viz Windows Tablets) shows it is not easy. So, I say buy it if it does what you want, stop complaining if you bought it and it doesn't, as you knew from day one. I use it for writing and typing; it has all the apps I need. I also use it for media consumption, social media, reading, iMessage, etc. I am not a pro user, so there is no need for pro apps, and I suspect I am the majority. I bought the iPad Pro, as Apple's marketing spiel means that "Pro" is at the top of the range, with the best features, like the iPhone Pro; it does not necessitate it to be for pro use only. Remember, the Galaxy Tab 9 Ultra runs only Android for Tablets, and many would argue that it is inferior to iPadOS. Yet, I never see in reviews for that device people complaining about the lack of pro apps, whereas in iPad reviews, it is flexed every review. Thanks for the video!
Personally the use of M1, M2 or M3 chips on the iPad is a full waste of the potential of those chips and that is Apple’s fault for limiting what the iPad can do compared to a Mac. I owned an iPad for years and finally let go of it for the Tab S9 series which feels more like a complete device especially with Samsung DEX and just the flexibility of it. If Apple wants to revive the iPad, they need to make the iPad seem more like a proper computer than an oversized iPhone experience.
Couldn't agree more!! My current work outside of YT doesn't require it now, but the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra was being used daily with Dex. Awesome tablet! S9 Ultra review coming soon 👊🏼
Happy Easter! I went from the M1 12.9 to the M2 11 as well. My MBP 14 met my need for a bigger screen and I've enjoyed going back to the original iPad experience with no keyboard.

Really enjoyed this thought-provoking episode. My trusty old 2018 12.9” is on its last legs and I have been debating whether to lash out on the latest and greatest or save some money with the M2. As of now, I’m inclined to wait for the new release and see what discounts will be happening with the M2.
Thank you! Yes I'd say that's the sensible thing to do really. The 2018 model is a testament to how long these devices last, but also confirms how slow the software has moved on the iPad. I was on the same boat in 2021 when my OG iPad Pro (2017) started to die. But if I'm really honest I was more excited about the new magic keyboard 😆 just like now
@@AlexGTech I have to agree with you absolutely about the software. The fact that my old 2018 can run the latest and flashiest stuff, even though it might be a bit slow suggests that designers have either bent over backwards to accomodate what is virtually legacy hardware, or they are not really taking full advantage of processor advances. I think the latter is the more probable.
No OLED screen has accurate colour. Anyone doing any kind of photo or video work would do well to buy the current M2 before it’s too late. There is a reason why no reference monitors use OLED
@@AlexGTechPLEASE make a video on this when these iPads come out! Not one tech reviewer has ever made any significant comment on the poor image quality of OLED iPhone Pro models vs Liquid Retina technology. Seriously, the iPad 5th generation from 100 years ago has significantly better image quality for photos and videos than the current iPhone 15 Pro Max. Hand held OLED devices have no white point. Calibration is impossible
Yes, OLED issue is yellow colors. So light green, orange, yellow, orangered and so on.. will be issue for artists. Except if Apple decides to adjust technology..

Happy Easter! I went from the M1 12.9 to the M2 11 as well. My MBP 14 met my need for a bigger screen and I've enjoyed going back to the original iPad experience with no keyboard.
Nice! Yes it feels like this is the sweetspot right now. I wonder if the new iPad Air will make even more sense
Happy Easter to you and your family too 🐣
@@AlexGTech I’d be in on that if it had the current display the 12.9 has and they fix the camera orientation! I do miss the screen on the 12.9.
Bro i've always been inloved with ipad. Though i can't afford 1. I'll use it for editting and graphic designs for my work. Maybe, just maybe, you can give me your spare ipad?🙂🙂🙂

16GB RAM would be necessary for iPadOS to not close games at all.
It's a lot of RAM for most people. I still hope ipados will allow apps to make the most of that
Segueueue was flawless

Closer than ever!!! ☺️
apple has lost the trust
Yup, I've been bitten before by their promises. I am a lot more careful these days...
Eu achei que você fosse do sul do Brasil.. quase não tem sotaque de gringo haha :)
Sou de Sampa kkkk Mas vivo aqui há mais de 20 anos então perdi bastante o sotaque...Abraço grande!
No OLED screen has accurate colour. Anyone doing any kind of photo or video work would do well to buy the current M2 before it’s too late. There is a reason why no reference monitors use OLED
Great point!!
But who cares?.0000001% of users? I like vibrant colors, not dull "accurate" colors.
Yes, OLED issue is yellow colors.
So light green, orange, yellow, orangered and so on.. will be issue for artists. Except if Apple decides to adjust technology..
