2024 anyone?
Always, a classic
Yeah
Me
Yo!🎉
Hell yeah. Her Austin special is sweet
I'm a 50 yr old black man, I remember hearing this on the radio all day damn near every 20 min. Couldn't help but feel the beat and the chorus. Pat was killin it back then. 💯
I was in a dance group back then. We always did this dance when class was over 😄😄
I agree 💯!!! I remember hearing it on an R&B 📻 station when our mom moved us to Georgia from jersey from 82 to 84. I thought she was black till I saw the 🎶 video. I used to do the whole dance routine from the video in my mom's living room every time the 🎶 video came on. Great memories 👍🏽.
First song I sang karaoke in a bar with my sister, was fun"*!
I am a white man from South Africa. Music transcends. Mutual respect goes a long way.
Oh wow that's neat! I just can't believe it! Holy cow!
Thank you 80s and Thank you MTV! What a glorious time to grow up.
That’s when mtv was real
80's can't be beat, period
2000s>>>
The 60’s and 70’s are much better, no autotune or synthesizers, just pure talent playing instruments and performing!!!
@@johnfleming6236Auto tune was invented in 1997, so, in the 80's it was never use, that's why 80's still the best, a nostalgic decade that everybody still remember and miss until this days.
80s periods? A bloodbath
70s can beat it
I grew up in an abusive home. This song came out when I was a young teen. It truly got me thru some terrible times. I dressed like her, cut my hair like her, sang her songs nonstop. All her music seemed to be written just for me. Hell is for children was another favorite. I'm 51 now and she will always be my favorite. All my friends know if PAT comes on the radio to turn it up and stand back cause I'm about to belt it!
I'm sorry to hear that :(
sorry to hear ...a home should be a safe space. Especially for the children.
It's awesome your friends know the 'know.
Stand back peeps.
This is my song.
was the first song that spoke to me during a breakup.
I'm a drummer. And love jamming this track.
Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you had her, her influence, the way you drew inspiration from similar situations. kool
Same! The first scene with her father reminds me of how bad my mother actually still is, with no contact, but I still don't understand as now a mother myself I would/ could never treat my kids this way they are my world. ❤
@@jennifervillegas4442 I hate to hear you went thru something similar. I've been very fortunate to have a good relationship with my parents now. They got a divorce when I was 25 and that helped alot. Don't ever stay in a terrible marriage for the children. You could be damaging worse by remaining. I am 51 now and realize my dad was in an abusive home growing up himself and he was only doing his best. He's turned out to be a great man and a great dad. Angry and withdrawn? Yes but still a very good man.
Angela ! ❤❤❤❤ me tooooo😢😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤ 1972
Please humanity do not let this music die.. keep it alive
It has a life of its own. Glad it's in mine today. 'Hell is for children' is my favorite thing to tell the missionaries.
You can rest assured, whenever I go to work or in my leisure time I listen to this classic, I will never let it die, until my last breath.

Im 63 years old and this in one of my favorite videos. I love how all of the young ladys stand up for themselves against the owner who is not treating them right.

Nothing beats those 80s sounds, Simply masterful music
But absolute nothing!
I think it it was the best decade for music and many other things out of the entire 20th Century! Not as far as I'm concerned and many others as well.

how 80s !! loved that decade
Yup!!! A very transitional decade, I didn't even understand it as I grew up in it. I weep as we now regress before it humanity wise. This was before Queen(Freddy) even came out. Shit man, it was the Cosby decade! America loved black people.
Oh, what 100 years from now people will think of us(2017), when the 80's had it so clear with all it's heavy make-up, big hair, neon glory, but people were people and live and let live was a common theme.

What I love about the 80's music videos is that they were Short Films. Music videos now have no stories or creativity whatsoever.
I agree 100000000%
sooo true
90's music videos had multi-minute intros and frankly, it was too much
#chowdowndetroit agree 👍🏽!! We can thank Michael Jackson for the art of music videos back in the day. When Michael Jackson would always Premiere a new music video, it was like the art of story telling being told through 🎶 . It was like a movie premiere premiere . Michael Jackson was very creative. He started the art of creation and the making of a music video by telling and showing a story . These music videos that are out now by some artists seem like there's no thought put into it. Not enough creation just basically following the trend. Thank you, MJ, for the art of creative and storytelling through music videos. R I.P. #MichaelJacksin
#MJF4L ❤️💯
@EricMuranoAU I disagree. The 80s and the 90s were the best decade for music videos. We can thank Michael Jackson for that because he was so creative looking at a music video when he would Premiere it was like watching a mini movie. He was a true artist that could tell a story not through just with words and rhythm and sound but also visually telling the story through video. #MichaelJackson❤️💯
in the 80s a boogie showdown brought resolution to most conflicts.

I will never forget the first time I heard this song, was on an R&B station in Georgia . I'm originally from New Jersey but our mom had moved us to Georgia from 1982 to 1984 and then we moved back to New Jersey. This song right here is everything to me and my childhood. I used to dance around my mom's living room to this song every time the music video came on . I knew the whole routine front to back😊 This is going to sound funny but at the time when I heard the song on the R&B radio station I thought she was black, man was I wrong when the music video came out. And I'm so glad I was wrong. Plus the icing on top of the cake was the same guy that choreographer the Beat It music video by Michael Jackson also choreographer this music video by Pat Benatar Love is a Battlefield. He even appears in the music video. Classic song, classic music, real music. And I am still to this day at 51 years old a Pat Benatar fan. Here's Food For Thought : Did you know that Pat Benatar had released a jazz album. And I still have it. I highly recommend Pat benatar's Jazz album it is a chef's kiss. I will always and forever be a Pat Benatar fan😊❤ #PatBenatar4life 😊❤by💯

She borrowed it from Hermione Granger.
In the video 30 year old Pat Benetar plays a girl half her age. Her father (Trey Wilson) is actually only 5 years older than her. ;-) Great 80's song.
rif42 So you're saying that her father had a child at 5 years?
It was common in the 80's to have 30-year old actors playing 16-year olds, so it didn't really even stick out in that context
Bunghole.

women were kicking so much ass back then! Madonna, Pat Benetar, Cindi Lauper, kim Carnes, Tina Turner, Annie Lennox, the Pointer Sisters, Stevie Nicks, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Chan, Debbie Harry, Dolly Parton, Chrissie Hynde, Grace Jones, Heart.
Great female rockers
Preach!
Plus Patty Smyth, Aimee Mann, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Terri Nunn...
😃🎤🎸
I wonder where the Patriarchy was then? Didn't do a good job of oppressing those ones.
Joan jett!!
Debbie Harry.
People ask me why do I listen to "old music" still. The answer is simple: Its better! Not to be biased but the 80's-90's music was the best. Everything from Pop, Rock, Hip-hop, and R&B. And this song is one of the greats!
+Dwight “Denjin” Johnson The reason why people think older music is better is because nobody plays the crap 80s and 90s music. There's just as much good music nowadays, there just seems to be less of it because you hear all the bad and mediocre music at the same time.
+SunBeast66 I respectfully disagree. As the time passes, less and less substance can be found in songs. A lot of remakes, sampling, and regurgitated lyrics, and sound.
Dwight Johnson
Music taste is entirely subjective though. I'm sure people from the 40s would have complained at the time about how terrible 80s and 90s music is.
+Dwight “Denjin” Johnson I totally agree. The markets have changed so much and with all the new technology and how fast information gets out the music industry is more about the next poster and download they can sell you as oppose to any substance. I think the 80s was the perfect overlap.
The 60s and 70s was mostly substance period! The 80s where where the mixture of substance, poppy fun, and sales/promotion came together. The Late 90s on it has become just about promotion and sales. They just need you to last at least 6 months, sell a few 100,000 downloads, posters, ring tones, etc..they on to the next one.
One more thing to considers is the target market. This may sound mean, but when you look back at the 60s to the early 80s...the average 11 year old girl did not control the amount of $ spent as they do today. That crowd today controls how BILLIONS of dollars are spent...and I'm sorry to say, but if you are trying to find the next Bob Dyaln, Deep Purple, or Led Zepplin...you are not gonna get those 11 year old dollars lol. Now Justin Bieber, Talylor Swift (whom I do like lol), and One Direction...they get those dollars for you. Substance you will not find though.
mrhoffame Good points! Back then there were MANY great artists. Now its hard to even call them that. And the reasons are as you stated.
This is pretty much the eightiest eighties video that every eightied. Absolutely love it.

That period of music from the late 1940s to the late 1980's will survive for another hundred years.

"BRING BACK MUSIC LIKE THIS"!! I'M 47YO, WE LOVE "MUSIC WITH A MEANING"!! WE LOVE U PAT!!!
There are two versions of this video. I didn't realize until I seen this version, that the song is actually about women empowering themselves and their self- esteem. Which made this version of the video make sense to me.
Clifton Hall this isnt the one I remembered either.
Classic Friday Night Videos from the 1980's. Excellent.
mattmorrow7777 A day Aya 0s
I stayed up late to see the video
I was born in 81' a child of the 90's. Sexy Pat Benatar ain't getting me. ❤
I have placed an 80/90s cloak over today's world and let myself get taken back to the good old days. It's the only way to get the inspiration I need to keep pushing forward...
Wow. I miss being a kid during the 80s. It was the last decade of innocence. The 80s was us, it was our generation
man I wish I was alive in the 80's. I am a z from 2009, your real lucky, I know all my friends listen to pop artists now and rap, but I think these 80's hits are the real pop.
@@jeffsampson5822 Yeah, literally everything was cool, the music, the fashion, freestyle bmx, skateboarding and people were more genuine and nice.
I was born 1984
There was no social network to pollute the mind of our kids. We were spontaneous, easy to meet, play and would have fun with simple things.
I was born in '94, and I always tell people I wish I was born 10 years earlier. Can't even remember the 90s. 😥
I was there in the 80’s when this song was released ♥️
Me too every one keeps going on about stranger things what is that
@@markmitchell450 a very successful show on netflix that takes place in the 80s
So was I. Born in 1956 I’ve heard some awesome songs.
Me too, racing home from school on my chopper bike with my Walkman blasting this song out, to play on my atari. Simple, wonderful tines...
@@knightstemplar8379 bro that’s my life🥰 I had a chopper❤️
This song is amazing because everybody can see the life on this way. My father tell me angry you cant do anything and after show him he was wrong, spend time looking for oportunities in the middle the violence of the life.
People could use some Pat Benetar in their lives right now with all the violence out there
I can vividly remember, staying up late into the Friday and Saturday nights, to watch music videos. 99 Red Balloon and this were favorites.
I am 63 years old, but I am young, and no one can change that. Go girl.
Damn straight, NEW KNOWLEDGE. Age is a state of heart & mind, not a number. Sending you happy vibes from our amazing musical past!
We are strong

Me too
We're only as old as we feel.
Pat Benatar is awesome! Forty years on her music still makes me happy. I find myself singing along the lyrics and reminiscing about my high school days. In my opinion the music from that generation far surpasses anything that had come before or since.
common psychological trap, every person bonds with the music that was pervasive when they were between 12 and 16. thats why each generation thinks 'the music when i was a teenager was the best there ever was.' youre welcome to enjoy it, but there is no 'best music'
@@Pikawarps why would you bother to write that? FFS you must be special....
@@Pikawarps wrong, im 34 and I think music from the 1960's is still the best

As a girl going into high school, I can confirm: 80's music is the best. Way better than anything coming out now.
I love Pat, she's brilliant and beautiful , her and Cyndi lauper are my favourites 👍🏻💯 I remember my older sisters playing this endlessly when we were young....I miss the80s
We WERE young 😔
People from the 80's who are visiting now....We were on a whole different battlefield then :)

2020 a black male, a hip hop junkie, listening to some of the greatest tune and I find myself searching for her in the mist of the night. Simply priceless. Just goes to show you music has no boundaries.
samuel aynamo Not at all brother! Im a 43 yr white dude who’s fav music was 90’s rap. But like you, i do like some classics that im even suprised i like! Lol. Stay safe bro
Definitely doesn't my man. Black woman in her 20's from Brooklyn here. And I go from Roddy Ricc to Oingo Boingo and Phil Collins.
Hip Hop is some of the greatest. To really APPRECIATE the art of Hip Hop, you have to also know the other genres that so many Hip Hop songs morph from. Right? The background tracks of many hip hop songs are classics from the 60s/70s. It's just the beauty of music. It brings everyone together from all over...unity at it's best! So glad you posted this message. It really is a powerful one. 🎶💜🎹🎺🎤🎷
Venus Music usually (def should), bring us all together!!
@@xseaangelx lets not forget where this type of music came from along with rock and roll? Jazz and blues!!
The power of her voice at :40 in hooked me back in the 80s and STILL sends tingles up my spine. I am a metalhead through and through and will always be, but all respect to Pat and her voice.
Love is a battlefield and I know peoples loyalty’s change all the time. Loyal lust is all I ask.
I miss the 80s this is real music.
80's fans there's an awesome *original* 80's inspired band today called *Fire* *Tiger*
They've got the energy man I tell you what
You rock fam! Thanks for the recommendation. ❤️🤫🌹👁️🌋
Dear Chase Jones... You can call it the Fire Tiger is you want too. I call it.... Survival. Movie magic calls it the "Last Man Standing", then what?
Golly Gee Wiz... "Fire Tiger" is lead by who?

The 80's was the real deal when it comes to music.
One of the best choreography dances of the 80s
The story in the video irrespective of the song is actually quite sad. Her waving goodbye to her brother, writing to him, the regretful demeanor of her parents in later scenes
Birthday caird pish
The very sad part is, I bet this has happened many times to families all over the world.
The sad part is that she leaves a stable home life to run off and become a hooker for a dude with a golden tooth.
My favorite song to sing and dance to just to make my older sister smile. Lol. The 80’s have been the best times of my life.
it was Jenna Rink favorite song too.....who's your daddy? 😂
My workout song!.
Hi Rebecca, how are you doing?
Good for you:) It is certainly a classic and yes 80s were great
Nowadays they play computer shit nothing like the real instruments they faded away sadly and it hurts my heart so much..
Timeless song! Still alive and well in 2024! ❤️
