I was a navigator on a Blackhawk helicopter unit in the 90s. My Squad was the Night Shadows and our helicopter was called Midnight Angel. It was tradition to play this song every time we left for a mission. To this day nothing pumps me up more than this song!
That is one of the coolest connections I have ever heard. I can imagine you dusting off of the song. I hope the Midnight Angel kept you safe.
That's freaking epic! I wonder if Benatar knows.

I was at the tale end of 16 in 1982 when this fantastic song came out and I am now 57. I consider myself very fortunate to be at a prime young age during the 80's experiencing some of the greatest music ever. Back then I could have never envisioned myself as 57 but I can tell all the young people today what the old people told me back then which was "enjoy it because life goes by fast".
I am the same age as you, entirely my thoughts as well.
This song was Released 15 years on my Birthday on September 18th, 1982. I was born the same day different year on September 18th, 1997. Once in a Lifetime
Another 57 year old here; yeah, where did that time go, anyway? I didn't care for the latter part of the decade as much, but the early 80s was incredible for rock music. The list of great albums and songs that came out between 80 and 83 in particular still stuns me.
Well, I’m six years younger than you but, man do I EVER get your point! To top it off, did you and I ever realize (when we younger) that FERRIS BUELLER was actually dropping genuine pearls of wisdom? “Enjoy it because life goes by fast.” Amen, mister. That’s damn right.
Right there with you. The variety of music from different artists we had back then is unmatched. Great times and I miss them.
You know, one of the best things about being in my late 50's now is that I lived my teenage years in the 80's..........Priceless and I wouldn't change them for the world!"
52 here
Amen to that Chris...53 as of April this year!
Me too. Almost 59. College years with New Wave music and the arrival of Prince and Madonna!
23 year old wishing to be a 80s kid,my mom talks about it and im jealous
I agree 100000% Chris! I’m 53, so I lived ALL of my teenage years in the 80’s & I’m so glad I did! I would NOT want to be a teenager in this day & age!.. We grew up in a great time!
Arguably one of the greatest female vocalists of all time.

Why has the music stopped?
I wish the world was still like it was in the 1970s and 80s.
But it isn't and never will be again. Those of us who lived it will never forget it and no one can ever take that away from us.

Pat Benatar was way better and more imaginative than Madonna.
No. I don’t know why you feel the need to put them up against each other, but no.
Meh, they both got their appeal. I enjoy each for what they are but it never occurs to me that one is 'better' than the other.
Their styles are completely different: One is a rock diva, the other is a pop-music & style icon and dancer-entertainer. It's like comparing Ann Wilson (Heart) to Lady Gaga.
That said, I would say that Pat had/has the better voice by far, but Madonna was more versatile and pushed more societal boundaries for women (pop singers or not) of her time. I ❤️ them both, for different reasons.
Congratulations for finally getting into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame better late than never only 17 years overdue.

Love Pat Benetar.
My ex girlfriend looked like Pat Benetar.
Grew up watching MTV and remember seeing all the stations being added to cable. Very exciting for us who grew up in the 80s. MTV was big talk before it first aired, we as teenagers had our very own channel and friends I had at school we all had fun talking music.

We're running with the shadows of the night
So baby, take my hand, you'll be alright
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They'll come true in the end
You said, "Oh, girl, it's a cold world when you keep it all to yourself"
I said, "You can't hide on the inside, all the pain you've ever felt"
Ransom my heart, but baby, don't look back 'cause we got nobody else
We're running with the shadows of the night
So baby, take my hand, you'll be alright
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They'll come true in the end
You know that sometimes, it feels like, it's all moving way too fast
Use every alibi and words you deny that love ain't meant to last
You can cry, tough baby, it's alright, you can let me down easy, but not tonight
We're running with the shadows of the night
So baby, take my hand, you'll be alright
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They'll come true in the end
We're running with the shadows of the night
So baby, take my hand, you'll be alright
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They'll come true in the end
And now the hands of time are standing still
Midnight angel, won't you say you will?
We're running with the shadows of the night
So baby, take my hand, you'll be alright
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They'll come true in the end
We're running with the shadows of the night
So baby, take my hand, you'll be alright
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight

I was a High School Senior, 1982 when this song came out. It is so engrained in a certain time, a certain place with a new and exciting relationship that eventually went sideways because of my immaturity. Listening makes my mind wander back to that time, with fond but bittersweet memories of just how poorly I handled the situation. Some life lessons can only be learned by first-hand experience!

I understand that Tom Cruise can fly F-14 and F-18s too. 🙄
Not only, she could even fight against Germans
having time machine probably..
She can also sing and fly at the same time!
Operate a drill press too
I’ve been in love with Pat Benatar since I was a teenager.I’m now 59 yrs old and I’m still in love with her. That’s probably why I never got married.👍👍😄😄
As is tradition, the 80s music video is ridiculous, but damn, the vocals are second to none. Pat sends shivers down my spine everytime with this one.
1982
One of the first albums I bought with babysitting money, at Sam Goode, was Pat Benatar’s first album with We Live for Love.
A friend had an older sister who swore Pat was the next Patti Smith.
Not sure if I even knew who Patti was at 10. Lol But I bought it, and it sat on my turn table for at least 6 months straight, until I found Joy Divison’s Closer. That was a turning point. Lol
Looks like we needed Pat on January 6th.
