    This video is fantastic tutorial. I am the least mechanical person I know; I watched this video 3 times to make sure I wanted to undertake this project. I followed it step by step to include removing the back. It took me 45 minutes to take it apart replace the rods and re-assemble. I just completed my first load after replacement and it worked flawlessly. Saved me hundreds of dollars!

    100% best vid I found for this repair. At least 6 others I viewed said were for this model, but removing top was entirely different. This was the first I found that the process was exactly for my model.

    I am never buying another Samsung appliance again. 1st front load washer died right at 10 years, shredding itself internally from the spider, bought this dumb top loader that started "unbalancing" after one year. Pure garbage.

    I replaced mine last night. The washer now runs perfectly. Not sure for how long since the comments say the amazon parts are of poor quality. However, I'll buy from Samsung the next time and change as soon as the problem starts. I wish that I had read more comments. I would not have ordered from Amazon. Hoping to be the lucky one and get more than a month from the damping rods. Switch out was easy. Thank you. Hardest part was to remove the washer for access. Thanks again!

    This helped me so much with my washer. It’s a 2019 model but we recently moved to a house in 2021. Now it’s 2024 and it was giving us issues with loads still soaking wet like bed sheets and comforters. After some research with the error code it was giving “UB” it was because of the balance. We ordered new stabilizing rods and used this video to replace them. I’ve never been so happy to have a full two loads dry on the spin only cycle that were heavily soaked before replacing them. You saved me a ton of money on my water bill too

    I replaced the support rods with some stiffer ones they were a little shorter than the OEM ones but it improved the stability however the drum still moves enough to trigger the UR code. Any idea what else I could do to fix it?

    • @rubio7922
      @rubio7922 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DIYRepairsNow Pushing down on it and it's stiff doesn't move. Takes a lot of strength so it's not the up down motion that's the issue but when it starts to spin a lot faster it will hit the sides of the chassis and trigger the UR code. Are the rods the only thing that is suppose to keep the drum in the middle? I also checked the large nut in the middle and it's on tight.

      They will never look damage, and in this model is hard to tell when they are bad sometimes when you push the drum and tub down in a bounce more than once that means the shocks are bad, but sometimes in this Samsung's it doesn't do it however, I'm going to leave you this link that way you see how it will bounce if they are bad. So there are a few tricks I’ve read in other videos comments on the problem and instead of buying new rods the hacks consist of using the correct shock absorbent grease, some get the machine from banging using wire which they notch the rod above the plastic parts and secure it from movements, others used duct tape. The idea is just keeping the springs from movement up to fast. I think I will try the least expensive , dampening grease which is very sticky grease which will restrict the movement of those plastic components above spring from moving so easily. Just my thoughts

But what i do know now, after many many many moons of no maintenance, this sucker is getting stripped. I am going to replace all plastic fittings, drum out for deep cleaning. Ok, now that I have half a idea to do what what, I am getting all the parts and then tackle this headache.

    Great tutorial for this, but you should NOT have to touch the inside of the top panel to replace the suspension rods. Just remove the three/four screws holding the top to the back, and use a metal shim approximately 5-6" towards the middle on the front, to pop the two clips holding the top to the washer shell. Good luck!

      @@theeinsuranceguy Every load, no matter how big or small would get unbalanced and we could hear it banging around until it errored out. We would have to pull out all the clothes and manually balance them around it and then just pray it worked.
      The new shocks have been in for a little over a week now and it is running great, no matter what we put in it.

      @@tylerfisk9303 go ahead and add damping grease on the new rods. The other thing that could be is the shaft worst case scenario would be a tubing but before you check all that recalibrate the washer that take care of the problem most of the time

      It's not the springs or the rods that go bad it's the polyfoam slide damper insert that's inside the top of the spring collar. Most of these repairs can be made in the first four or five years of the machines use by opening the collar and packing the slide damper with dampener grease. After 5 or 6 years, the slide dampers shape will distort from friction and chemicals, and you'll have to buy the complete rod assembly... these Rod dampers are the equivalent to the HVAC capacitor repair.. ripoff 😂

    I bought a set of these suspension rods/shocks online for $51. The cost for "genuine" Samsung shocks is $160 for the set. But this is the same shock that only lasted a couple of years on the washer I now have. I hope that you will give me some insight as to what you or your peers would charge for this job, parts and labor? Just curious as to how much money I am saving by doing it myself. I am in Houston, TX. We just usually take our broken appliances out back and shoot them full of holes. Then we jump on our horses and head to the saloon. Ha.

    • @DIYRepairsNow
      @DIYRepairsNow  ปีที่แล้ว

      This repair cost between $285 and $375 and depends on the manufacturing. Sometimes the aftermarket parts are better than the OEM but in this case, it depends on how you use your machine. If you overload the machine or more than three people lives in the house you can only spec this shocks to last between 2 to 3 years, if you use the washer the right way without overloading, and only two people lives in the house this shocks can last between four and five years

    • @DIYRepairsNow

      Usually they last between 2 to 4 years, but it depends on the uses people they have to replace them in less than two years is because they overload in the washer

    The REAL solution is buy Nyogel 767A damping grease, apply on shaft where the collar slides up and down and it will significantly reduce the motion of the shocks. The option on this video can work but the plastic will wear out due to friction on the parts. Never use regular grease on the rods because that will make the shocks slide up and down even more easily. you need friction grease so the parts still move as they should but resistance of range is reduced! If you buy replacement shocks notice there is sticky stuff on the shaft where the motion will occur. Good luck out there.
