I laughed at the hateful Samsung beginning, because that is exactly how I felt about this washer. I watched it twice, ordered the parts, and followed it again as I undertook the repairs. In less than an hour, this 60 year old grandmother had everything fixed, and a load of laundry was spinning properly for maybe the first time ever! I also noticed that the water level in the machine seemed to be a bit higher, and the clothes were moving around like they should, whereas before, it never seemed to have enough water in the machine during the wash cycle. I can't thank you enough. Oh, and your helper is utterly adorable!!

Having a person to lift up the top is a definite help for replacing the rear rods and having to disconnect the clips. For the sticky stuff - that was horrible to get off my hands. After the first rod, I used a neoprene glove on one hand for the rest of the rods. Thanks for the video.

Awesome glad we could help. Those rods are very sticky/greasy, if you listen carefully at certain spots you can hear me rubbing my hands together to get that mess off.

After listening to me gripe for weeks, hubby said just buy a new washer! I'm soooo happy to have found your video. I figured, "what's the worst that can happen?" One hour and $40 later it is working as it should! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!! BTW I'm a 60 yo woman and to say I'm handy would be a gross overstatement. Now...what to do with all that money I saved 🤔
Thank you for the helpful video. You have the patience of a saint. I'm shocked nobody seems to comment on Samsung's role in this equation...? My previous washer lasted over 20 years. I thought this was a 'quality upgrade' and lasts less than 2 years doing the laundry for 2 people? Why are we not suing Samsung?
There IS a class action lawsuit against Samsung for their horrible appliances. I bought the entire house package (fridge, stove, microwave, washer and dryer)and I have had nothing BUT trouble. After paying too many repairman to repair this junk, I found these videos. I absolutely WILL NEVER buy anything Samsung again
Well, the fix worked for 3 whole weeks, and now I have the same unbalanced load, and error message once again.... Has anyone else had this problem where the fix worked for such a brief time? Thx
@@pennynunnelley5678 Hello Penny. Can you point me to this class action lawsuit, please? I have been searching, and have found a few relating to their washers exploding, or corroding, but I have not found anything relating to this spin cycle/suspension rods issue. Since about 3.5 million people have watched these videos on how to fix, the problem is evidently very widespread, and indeed a class action lawsuit seems warranted. Thanks for any resources you can point me to. Peter
We replaced tension rods and a month later we have the same issue. Samsung is like 21:53 10 yrs old though so maybe it's time to replace. I will NOT buy Samsung though.
Thank you so much for this video, I live with my mother-in-law and we have this exact same washer. The washer can't wash pretty much anything without banging around and shutting off. It also throws the Ur codes. All I have to do now is convince her to let me fix it, which will be the hardest part of the process, LOL!
Your video is so wonderfully detailed that it made the rapair easy. Thank you for taking the time to show each step. Our washer is only 3 years old and was a pain because of this issue. Your little girl is a cute addition to the video as well. Thank you for saving me a lot of money!
I add my thanks to that of my husband. You did a great job of walking me through the process. Also, thanks to the sweet baloney-eating baby for demonstrating that regular people can do this under less-than-ideal circumstances with normal household distractions.
THANK YOU , You have saved my sanity. I just did this fixed and ran the drum recalibration and everything works perfect. Thank you so much. I was ready to throw this thing in the garbage dump .
Just did mine; your video made it a breeze. Only difference was my rods had this incredibly greasy sticky grey glue at the top of each piston -- I needed Goo be Gone to get rid of it. Nasty stuff. But everything was done in ~45 minutes. Thanks a ton!
You removed it from the new ones or the old ones? Mine had that same grease and I kept getting all over my hands. I left it on the new ones and did my best to not touch it.
@@ChrisThedudenurse Hey Chris; it was all over the old (OEM) ones that came with it. New ones didn't have it. But there was enough residual in the slots that it should be fine to cover the new ones.
Thanks for the video. I was about ready to buy a new washing machine, but figured I’d give this a try since it was only five years old. The UB error code was such a thorn in our side and we do lots of laundry with our active kids. Very easy to follow and after five loads seems OK. Thank you. P.S-that black stuff is hard to get off, wear gloves ha ha
Glad I could help…… if you listen closely you can hear me rubbing my hands together often to try to get that grease off, that’s probably the worst part.

I did these exact stops and the replacement rods from Amazon went out in just 2 weeks. Then I started reading reviews on Amazon that most ppl’s complaints were about the same thing. Then I read on one of the comments that for new rods to not fail in a short period of time, you have to recalibrate the washing machine. Haven’t tried it yet but I’m hoping it fixes the issue
I know I sound like a broken record but thank you, thank you, thank you!! Our 3 year old washer was throwing the same error codes and I was so furious so I turned to TH-cam and found your video! Thank you again from saving us from a repairman and/or a new washer!
This helped me tremendously. I fixed it based on your video. Thank you so much for detailed steps and commentary. This came broken with our new house purchase and this washer gave me nothing but trouble but I am in a happy place after fixing it.
Hello Chris. This is Cathy. One of the other things that you should also learn to do about your washing machine besides just changing the old suspension rods and the springs of your washing machine is to make sure that you also wash more that just one thing at each time of you washing machine while you are having some issues with your septic tank.
Wow. Great video I watch many that were similar but yours was specific to my model and saved me a ton of time and frustration. By watching this first I did the complete repair in 30 mins. Thank you.
Thanks so much for this. It worked like a charm. There was a period of time when ours was unstable on its feet, and I’m pretty sure that led to uneven wear on the springs. Since I replaced the rods, it seems better than it was brand new.
Thank you so much for this video! Super helpful and easy to follow along with. In about 45 minutes of fixing this I was able to fix the washer and get my wife to stop yelling at it every time it goes off balance 🤣
thank you for the video going to attempt this soon. protip for anyone going to attempt this get a magnetic tray for your bolts and have a couple of different colored paint markers. that way you can paint the bolts/wires/hoses and its proper location so nothing gets misplaced. im a automotive mechanic and i do this when breaking down engines. also if youre using power tools lower the torque on the tool, to not strip any bolts.
Thank you for the very easy to follow video. Only took me and my dad 45 minutes. Our rods had some nasty sticky grease or similar on them, I would wear gloves if I did it a second time. Its a very hateful washer indeed
Thank you for posting the link to get the parts in a previous reply. I'm going to try this as soon as they come in. If it doesn't work, I think I'll just get a new washer. Of course, our warranty ran out a year and a half ago. The machine is less than 5 years old.
Thanks for the video. I have the same washer and used your video to replace the suspension rods. It took me about 45 minutes to remove and replace them all. I got the parts from Amazon for around $26. You saved me a bundle.
I’ve had three repair people out in a month for a Samsung washer. Every time they “fix” it we run a load right after and it still unbalances. It is still under warranty but now I can look over their shoulder to see what parts are going I. It.
Thank you for the video, for taking the time to show us step by step on how to DYS. The link where to purchase the parts has saved me lots times of time and $$..........👏
Yes this machine is garbage for the price , they don't tell you when you buy it , you can't use a certain amount of weight of clothes, that's what cause, s the drum to be unbalanced the weight causes the suspension rods to bend . That's why it starts to rock , unbalanced. Should of known better, when the manual tells you you have to fold blankets a certain way to wash them ,wtf !!! Folding wash? The other thing all the sensors just ridiculous, I knew I should of went with American made and not this digital crap . Nothing like the washers with the turn thing in the middle that comes up to the opening almost . And you pick heavy wash because it's actually made for heavy wash, unlike this stupid machine with its heavy wash, that is not a true heavy wash... When the mechanic first diagnosed the rods was the problem he said if the insurance knew that you used comforters , the insurance company would not have honered fixing it He tells me anything like that take it to the laundry mat , I'm like wtf are you Serioud what's the purpose of having the machine , if I still have to go to the laundry mat . Never again . And those 4 rods cost 85 each . Do yourself a favor buy American made and the old style washers not this digital sensor crap
The fact younhave to pull the entire damn thing apart to change out 4 shocks is ridiculous. I say that because my washer has started doing this and I dread what im going to have to do
... i did mine before this video existed....... i needed this video ... hate this washing machine but thanks for the video..... wrapping the water line around the suspension is needed for sure... learned hard way 😢

Running my first load after replacing the rods. Fingers crossed. Thanks you for the help. I've got the exact same machine. I hope you daughter had a good birthday!
Hello Chris. This is Cathy and it is nice to meet you. How do you change the old suspension rods and springs to fix your washing machine that is already out of balance.
Hey Chris the Dude Nurse. This is Cathy. The high spin speed of the washing machine can actually mess any of the breakable laundry up unless any of the breakable laundry is both thick and soaked in lots and lots and lots of water and just the medium spin speed only is good enough for any of the breakable laundry that is not thick and both soaked in lots and lots and lots of water.
So glad i saw this video, I was ready to put my machine out to the curb. Bought the springs and machine works great. Took about 30 mins. Thank you for the Video!
I've replaced my rods 3 times. I've had the washer about 2.5 years. Last time I replaced rods was a month ago. It's now acting up once again. I absolutely HATE this washer!
Thank you, I had tried this and didn’t do anything. We tried again (just now) it worked.. but didnt solve the issue.. now drilling two more holes to see if that helps, if not.. we’re done and just gonna buy a new machine. Appreciate your help!
@@JBrletic-v2i we had to drill multiple holes on the underside of the lip of our washer tub. We drilled about 6-8 holes straight up all the way around evenly. Water poured out. It’s not perfect and we still have to make sure we don’t overload it, but it really did fix a majority of the issues.

Chris: thanks so much for the clear and informative video. Just performed the swap-out of the springs. It was totally doable. Your video was super helpful.
Sounds like you may have something else loose or damaged. Theres also a bolt or nut in the bottom of the drum that may be loose. You may also have the dreaded bad control board.
Yes, I did same. I changed supsension rods from Amazon site, and it worked better for 2 or 3 weeks. But, it is still problematic and random. I also changed out the Vibration Sensor, and that didn't help either. So, I am clueless as to what is going to be my next change. No, actually, I just went ahead and bought anotehr washer & dryer. Found great deal.
@@ChrisThedudenursewhat do you mean by dreaded control board? I’ve checked the large bolt in the tub and it’s tight. Gonna try changing out rods now but wondering about the control board thing! Thanks
Great video, every other one does not show how to disconnect the wires. took your advice and fixed mine in less than an hr. This saved me hundreds of dollars.
hey guys so i had the same issue one thing i would mention is that if the code still comes back or your washing machine still adds time to you load. You will want recalibrate your machine all you have to do is. 1st power on the machine, then simultaneously press "Temp" and "Delay End" then press start. This function calibrates the "X" "Y" axis of the washer drum. It will take about 2-3 minutes to complete and rotate the drum multiple times at various speeds. However, it worked like a charm.
Wow we have the same last name and spelled the same. Anyway, have you tried to calibrate the machine? Did the new rods come with grease? Also keep in mind Samsung did not make this machine to last forever.

Thanks again!
Hey man glad I could help. Just know mine only lasted about before it went bad again
Having a person to lift up the top is a definite help for replacing the rear rods and having to disconnect the clips.
For the sticky stuff - that was horrible to get off my hands. After the first rod, I used a neoprene glove on one hand for the rest of the rods.
Thanks for the video.
Good advice.
Watched several other videos and then came across yours. Spot on brother!! Excellent video and breakdown of the steps involved. I’m certainly no repairman but in less than an hour I’m washing clothes again. Thank you!!!
That’s awesome, so glad I could help.
Two thumbs way up Chris & daddy's lil helper! Our washer gave up after teenager started doing her monthly laundry all at once. Your video is so simple to follow and saved us the Benjamin's. I added gloves to this job as those rods are super gooey and picked up white lithium grease from local hardware store. Thanks bunch.
Awesome glad we could help. Those rods are very sticky/greasy, if you listen carefully at certain spots you can hear me rubbing my hands together to get that mess off.
Thank you for this video! My husband and I had it done in under an hour! The back two rods were completely broken. We have had problems for a year or so. Mine is older than yours, but the instructions worked the same! Thank you! ❤
Hey glad I could help, sucks that they break so easily though.
How is it holding up? Still working good
@teeeejaay89 so far soo good!
For those with the dark gray machine, there are a couple of screws for the top hidden under rubber bumpers in the front of the machine. Great video! I loved your helpers.
Thank you, they are the best.
This is an excellent tutorial! I replaced my suspension rods in about 30 minutes, and this solved my out of balance problem. I tested this repair with a very large of mixed heavier items, and it worked perfectly!
That’s awesome, I’m glad I was able to help.
Been having progressively worse issues with mine for the last few months. Finally had it a couple days ago and found your video. Bought the new rods on Amazon and they just arrived. Took me less than 15 minutes to swap them out. Hopefully this does the trick.
Hopefully so. Mine only lasted about 7 months though….. time to do it again!
Is it working?
Omg! My washing machine has been the thorn in my side until I watched your video! Thanks for the thorough step by step on replacing the springs! My washing machine is back to it’s normal self❤
That’s awesome, glad you got it fixed and glad I was able to help.
Not sure what to do with your money, but glad I could help
Thank you for the helpful video. You have the patience of a saint. I'm shocked nobody seems to comment on Samsung's role in this equation...? My previous washer lasted over 20 years. I thought this was a 'quality upgrade' and lasts less than 2 years doing the laundry for 2 people? Why are we not suing Samsung?
These washers are truly terrible. I traded an old unit for a bigger one (this unit) thinking it was the right idea.
Samsung is like 21:53
10 yrs old though so maybe it's time to replace.
Yeah, talking her into it is going to be the hardest part.
Thank you so much!!! My daughter and I were able to replace all 4 of the shocks without screaming, yelling or crying ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow!!!!! The biggest win is doing it without screaming and yelling.
Your video is so wonderfully detailed that it made the rapair easy. Thank you for taking the time to show each step. Our washer is only 3 years old and was a pain because of this issue. Your little girl is a cute addition to the video as well. Thank you for saving me a lot of money!
Thank you so much, I'm glad I could help. I do try to include my girls in my repairs to help them learn.
You’re a great dad! Kept your cool with the distraction.
Thank you, that's just a regular day at my house.
@christhedudenurse see my comment
I add my thanks to that of my husband. You did a great job of walking me through the process. Also, thanks to the sweet baloney-eating baby for demonstrating that regular people can do this under less-than-ideal circumstances with normal household distractions.
Glad you enjoyed it. It is definitely the battle trying to fix things with helpers sometimes.
THANK YOU , You have saved my sanity. I just did this fixed and ran the drum recalibration and everything works perfect. Thank you so much. I was ready to throw this thing in the garbage dump .
Oh I'm still ready to throw mine away. But glad I could help.
Thank you for saving me so much money and frustration! Just ran a load of laundry with no issues! What a lifesaver you are!!!
That’s awesome, I do love saving money
Thank you and your little helper so much! I was able to do this and now my machine is working! Saved me not only money but from a further headaches
Always glad to help.
🎉🎉🎉 SIR! Let me honestly say thank you!!!!! I watch this video about 15 times just to make sure that I wasn't going to do it wrong and I ordered the parts and it took me about an hour and I nearly cried and that rear right corner with the water lines but with your video I got them all changed out and I guess like everyone else my first Lotus towels. GOD BLESS YOU SIR!!!!!

Great video. Just got finished changing out my suspension rods with the help of your wonderful video. However, it did not fix my problem 😅
Well glad I could help but I hate that it didn’t fix your issue.

Thanks for the help. Today, Feb, 12, 2024 I received the partes and got the job done. I ordered the parts at Walmart on line, way cheaper and good quality.
Nice, cheaper for the same thing is good
I have the WA54R7200AW and it does the same damn thing. It’s making life so hard. So happy to finally find this video. About to follow it exactly and hopefully resolve my problems.
I hope it fixes it as well. It is truly aggravating
@@4evr_ace yes always calibrate the machine after doing a repair
I know I sound like a broken record but thank you, thank you, thank you!! Our 3 year old washer was throwing the same error codes and I was so furious so I turned to TH-cam and found your video! My husband and I were able to fix it in about an hour! We are so grateful. My husband said that dude needs to make more videos cause he’s freaking amazing! Hello Chris. This is Cathy. One of the other things that you should also learn to do about your washing machine besides just changing the old suspension rods and the springs of your washing machine is to make sure that you also wash more that just one thing at each time of you washing machine while you are having some issues with your septic tank.
Noted, Thank you.
Wow. Great video I watch many that were similar but yours was specific to my model and saved me a ton of time and frustration.
By watching this first I did the complete repair in 30 mins. Thank you.
That's awesome! Glad I was able to help.
Thanks so much for this. It worked like a charm. There was a period of time when ours was unstable on its feet, and I’m pretty sure that led to uneven wear on the springs. Since I replaced the rods, it seems better than it was brand new.
Glad I could help. Not sure if it being unstable did it or if these are just terrible machines.
@@ChrisThedudenurseYes. I may just have been being nice to Samsung, but I’m glad it’s working now.

Thank you so much for this video! Super helpful and easy to follow along with. In about 45 minutes of fixing this I was able to fix the washer and get my wife to stop yelling at it every time it goes off balance 🤣
Oh I’m yelling too when this thing goes out of balance. I truly hate this washer.
thank you for the video going to attempt this soon. protip for anyone going to attempt this get a magnetic tray for your bolts and have a couple of different colored paint markers. that way you can paint the bolts/wires/hoses and its proper location so nothing gets misplaced. im a automotive mechanic and i do this when breaking down engines. also if youre using power tools lower the torque on the tool, to not strip any bolts.
But loosing stuff is the best part.
Thank you!!!! My Dad was able to fix ours by watching your video☺️
Glad I could help.
Thank you for the very easy to follow video. Only took me and my dad 45 minutes. Our rods had some nasty sticky grease or similar on them, I would wear gloves if I did it a second time. Its a very hateful washer indeed
I truly hate this washer. But glad I could help.
Thanks so much for the instructional video. My washer had the same issue. Now is working 100%
Awesome!
Thank you for posting the link to get the parts in a previous reply. I'm going to try this as soon as they come in. If it doesn't work, I think I'll just get a new washer. Of course, our warranty ran out a year and a half ago. The machine is less than 5 years old.
Yeah sounds about right. I think my unit is around 4-5 years old too.
Worked for me. Took me about an hour and change but first test run after with towels worked perfectly. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Chris. This is Cathy. That is how you fix your Samsung washing machine that takes over 1 hour to wash the full load of your laundry.

From one dad to another thank you my good man! Saved me time and money.

I’ve had three repair people out in a month for a Samsung washer. Every time they “fix” it we run a load right after and it still unbalances. It is still under warranty but now I can look over their shoulder to see what parts are going I. It.
They probably are not changing your springs out. My new ones are much stiffer than the old.
Thank you for the video, for taking the time to show us step by step on how to DYS. The link where to purchase the parts has saved me lots times of time and $$..........👏
You are welcome
We've had this model for less than a year. It is a mess! I regret this purchase.
Yes it has not been good to us either
Yes me too I honestly regret it as well plus they are not cheap and for it not to last long.
Me too - expensive piece of garbage 😊
When the mechanic first diagnosed the rods was the problem he said if the insurance knew that you used comforters , the insurance company would not have honered fixing it
He tells me anything like that take it to the laundry mat , I'm like wtf are you Serioud what's the purpose of having the machine , if I still have to go to the laundry mat . Never again . And those 4 rods cost 85 each . Do yourself a favor buy American made and the old style washers not this digital sensor crap
thank you very much, and good jon posting spare parts link what to get for this particular machine and issue
Glad I could help

The fact younhave to pull the entire damn thing apart to change out 4 shocks is ridiculous. I say that because my washer has started doing this and I dread what im going to have to do

Hello Chris. This is Cathy and it is nice to meet you. How do you change the old suspension rods and springs to fix your washing machine that is already out of balance.
You could try to calibrate it 1st, install the new rods, then calibrate it again and see if that helps. These really are not very well built machines.

Is there a link to the specific rods you purchased?
hey guys so i had the same issue one thing i would mention is that if the code still comes back or your washing machine still adds time to you load.
Calibration don’t work every time, but it’s definitely a good place to start.
Excellent video and breakdown. Thank you so much! I can finally wash clothing without worrying about my washer banging itself. Much appreciated !
Glad I could help
I just replaced my rods with new ones and it’s still doing the whole shaking and UB code during spin cycle. It’s a very small load
