As and avid scout rifle user this is true for longer ranges but if your using a long range sight and get caught off guard by another player at a close range in the crucible the extra stability really helps to maintain accuracy. Since MIDA is the only weapon in the game that fits my play style though and comes with a close range sight with more than enough stability for the weapon to be useful it really doesn't matter if a weapon has more stability than it.
It pains me to stop using my favorite New Monarchy scout rifle (reduced recoil, explosions on crit kills), but this might make me do it. Goodbye Crusader, hello Fang.
IMO it's very hard to justify any PVE scout (other than MIDA) that does not have firefly. For me, it's Saterienne Rapier and I'm still waiting for another scout to dethrone it. Badger CCL or Another NitC with a firefly roll will still be good. Fang of Ir Yut will only be good for arc burn nightfalls.

The perks of Saterienne Rapier are perfect. was hoping that this fang would be similar.. other than nightfall i dont see me using this. Only weapon from the raid i thought i would really want is the fang, however so far im loving the Abyss defiant as i took it almost leveled up in the hard raid and it was having a great effect on the knights on the tower. It pretty much wrecks Omnigul :)
Any chance a video could be made explaining weapon attack levels and how your light level effect damage. I'm still not entirely clued about what the go is with attack level for weapons. In particular how fatebring almost does the same damage as word of crota of coursre depending on situation but anyways, why?....
It seems like they're setting up raid weapons for future raids. Mythoclast has solar damage, really fucking ridiculous firing speed, and crowd control, all good for hive. The target mark would be great for invisible fallen, and a few other things I've seen on raid guns looks like they would be great for fallen enemies.
Yo Patrick didn't you know target marker is very useful for crota raid when the swordbearer knight is hiding behind a rock and no one can find him? that's what it's main purpose is for, so you can locate the sword faster :)

Im still....debating whether i want this or no because i have knucklehead radar, i just bought the Dont Touch Me gauntlets for my 2nd hunter, im trying for symbiote helm or Ahamkara gauntlets for my 3rd hunter and still using this. I got knucklehead through nightfall and, i double that with Patience and Time, but....if i do get this im gonna need a crota helm cuz......knucklehead is the only one i have lol.

Of the 4 Primaries, This was the one I was looking forward to the most - especially as the Visions of Confluence is one of (if not) my favourite weapons. However it's quite mediocre and has more in common with Another NitC except my NitC has Firefly so I prefer that - even though it doesn't have Arc damage. Its perks aren't particularly great - not like AD's Lich Bane, OE's Dark Breaker and WoC's Phantom Gift I was most surprised by Oversoul Edict as I expected another Praedyth's Timepiece but this is much better and can also shoot through Hive Knights Shields. This is more likely to be my Arc based primary of choice and therefore likely to get the Radiant Energy ahead of the Fang.
Honestly, if we could upgrade the VoC with 331 max damage, I'd be using that instead of the fang. I'd say the best Raid primary off of Crota would be the Abyss.
I got both Fang of Ir Yut and Abyss Defiant. Personally I really like Abyss Defiant much more. I find that with focused fire it can dish out a ton of damage pretty quickly. I also like the Fang but I find being able to disorient Hive Wizards is much more useful than that mark.
You don't even need to use the mark perk for Fang just like you don't need to use Hip Fire on Abyss Defiant, which I would argue isn't any more useful than the mark on Fang. The alternative to the mark perk on Fang is Spray and Play, which can be very useful.
Replace radar bubble with auto-mode and i'm sold. For now I will stick to my Vision of Confluence. Constantly clicking buttons is annoying, and I rather then stick with my Hawkmoon or Fatebringer or Word of Crota with 13 ammos and more damage then scout. P.S. Bungie needs to hire some creative ppl. They literally took Vision of Confluence, added some bones and few perks which doesnt make sense and thats it. Same they did with Word of Crota ... but in word of crota 2 pers doesnt work with explosive rounds so they really messed it up.
This is an awesome gun, but why couldn't they just add full auto? It is a pain to have to shoot so much since it doesn't have the finality of a hand cannons precision shots. I feel like Abyss Defiant is the best CE primary right now. If this had full auto and the 3rd scope option from the Vision, this would be my go to weapon.
I got this today on my very first crota's end hardmode run,the swordbearer killed him in 2 swords.The rest of the fireteam got the following: -Song of Ir Yût x1 -Word of Crota x1 -Fang of Ir Yût x2 (Me and another guy) -Hunger of Crota x1 -Nothing x1 (Poor guy) I already had the oversoul edict from a attempt to to the abyss part with 3 people,but we couldn't pass throught the bridge part.So,i went to the prision of elders to test it out. Bravo... This weapon is really good. It destroyed the fallen wave It performed well in the cabal wave It anihilated in the hive wave It was fantastic in the vex wave It was the best backup weapon i ever had in the boss wave,seriously,i was there,with my ice breaker shooting the boss and then something like 10 trahalls sneaked in,killed them within 5 seconds. And note the only perk i have is the pray'n'spray perk!And i didn't had it the first time!
Hands down best scout rifles i have ever held. Third eye,max ammo and perfect balance plus hive disrupter as well as spray and play it makes the gun perfect for a scout rifle. Ever since dark below dropped i saw somebody with fang of ir yut (i love scout rifles) i wanted it so when i got it, it pretty much sounded as if i got gallyhorn... Best scout rifles though leaves exotic space.
Hey! Just wanted to inform u guys that the target mark perk will remove invisibility during its duration. This can be very useful for the upcoming raid since its probably gonna be against fallen enemies. That means you can remove invisibility from those annoying vandals with swords and/or snipers!
I've got this beast today, my first and only primary weapon from Crota's End, the stabilitity is already great, for PvE field Scout is the best choice, the mag only have 15 bullets
Got this last night off of Crota. I am loving it, has the highest range of any Scouty I have used. Just a shame that the marker Perk is nigh-useless. However, it will come in handy for me though is on the Crota encounter where I can quickly get a marker on the Swordbearer before he hides behind a box so my allies know where he is.
The reason I love this gun compared to the other Crota primaries is that it isn't strictly perk based on pve, like over soul edict, that gun has full auto for PvP, and that's it. This weapon has 2 perks, one in particular that is really useful for PvP.
i really hope theres an invisible vandal section in the next raid that makes the mark perk useful. cus at this point it doesnt really do anything helpful. when i originally saw it i thought it might give a slight damage boost for allies against the marked target, which i think wouldve been really cool. (though maybe a little broken for pvp.)

This is the best scout rifle in the game period. I love this gun and I normal don't use scout rifles. This is my main weapon for my hunter replacing my vex.

the highlight perk should allow rockets to track and detonate early near the target, like in bf4 with the soflam, the team not only sees the target but are able to shoot rockets that track to that target, in case you have dragons breath or a hipfire rocket without align of sight the marker will guide it to the target, also a sticky grenade which auto matically soars toward the target more agrressively when thrown near the target. if they did that the perk would gain exotic status.

i think the "this makes a weapon harder to handle" doesnt apply to the user of the gun but whoever the gun is shooting at. harder for people to aim u in pvp when ur shooting them. thats what it meant
I think they got rid of that annoying bone that went over the ammo counter on the actual gun, because in all honesty that was why I never used to use it but now its gone I love it.
How much more damage does it deal compared to Vision of Confluence? Personally, I like the fact that it does arc damage and I feel like I would use this a lot for PVE
As said in the video, against lvl 30 tier 1 enemies, it does 1019 damage (something like that), and since Vision is my primary weapon still, I know the head shot damage against a lvl30 tier 1 enemy it deals; which is 890. So Fang does 1019 while Vision does 890 due to the higher base attack.
Luigi6545 yep, i ran these tests with Vision, Another NITC (same impact as Fang). and my badger ccl does the most (that I know of) at 1222. Overall I stick with my badger. Some complain it shoots too slow, but I dont notice it, and everytime I switch to a lighter hitting scout, I miss the higher impact too much.
Patrick,do u think that it is worth keep trying hard mode crota just for this gun(i have everything else except for necrochasm & the fang),I am really tired with the raid due to the bugs/glitches with crota/swordbearers..
Meh this gun is so so. You're better off using VOC in PvE with the auto fire. Fang shoots so god awful slow, and you should use the extended mags, its precision perk is a waste, it shoots so slow you should have enough time to have aquired your next shot.
I personally think this gun blows, hate scout rifles that don't have full auto and this thing isn't at all special. Another nitc 20 rounds with firefly is way better
I agree, but on the other hand this does make this very versatile weapon even MORE versatile. It can be configured to work in both PvE and PvP and suit some different approaches.

That's a good idea, it mostly has to do with Light level and Impact though.
Got this on my first hard crota win, love it. It's a great scout rifle and I can see myself maining it once I get a few upgrades into it.

Phantom Gift isn't as good of a perk as you are making it out to be.

Vision of confluence doesn't need the perfect balance perk. you don't even notice recoil as is. The magazine upgrade is much more beneficial.

Would you recommend ascending Fang of Ir Yut, because I don't have a fatebringer or a PoE arc primary.

I heard that a maxed vision of confluence and a maxed fang of Ir yut have the same damage to all non-hive majors or that the difference is negligible.
i cant help but to use this rifle. i use MIDA alot and thig is almost like a legendary version of it, freeing up an exotic slot.

The target mark seems useful for raid. We all know the sword eater is a bitch and hides most the time so that helps keep track of him a bit

yep, i ran these tests with Vision, Another NITC (same impact as Fang). and my badger ccl does the most (that I know of) at 1222.
Overall I stick with my badger. Some complain it shoots too slow, but I dont notice it, and everytime I switch to a lighter hitting scout, I miss the higher impact too much.
Got this beauty last week and almost have it maxed out. It is a great weapon.
Gun is some shit but, ok in crucible when shot players are marked.

Patrick,do u think that it is worth keep trying hard mode crota just for this gun(i have everything else except for necrochasm & the fang),I am really tired with the raid due to the bugs/glitches with crota/swordbearers..

Won this from my 3rd crota kill and I absolutely love it.
Meh this gun is so so. You're better off using VOC in PvE with the auto fire. Fang shoots so god awful slow, and you should use the extended mags, its precision perk is a waste, it shoots so slow you should have enough time to have aquired your next shot.
Turi Smo your just saying this because you don't have it, it shoots very fast like the voc just the voc has auto fire.
I got the Fang of Ir Yut, Abyss Defiant, and the pulse rifle in one hard raid go.

I personally think this gun blows, hate scout rifles that don't have full auto and this thing isn't at all special. Another nitc 20 rounds with firefly is way better

I don't mind the Third Eye perk, but yeah, would have loved something a bit beefier, such as Final Round or something.
I agree, but on the other hand this does make this very versatile weapon even MORE versatile. It can be configured to work in both PvE and PvP and suit some different approaches.
if u have a lcd or that one sniper that shoots through walls it helps even more

It is dropping now. My theory was that it simply couldn't drop on your first run/glowhoo shader took the place of it in the loot table.
