During the month of May 2021 the Haval brand sold 1782 units and 701 of those were the Jolion, so South Africans are responding well to the brand, haval is the 7th best selling brand in the country overall. keep up the good work.

I bought a Jolion Lux in May
It is perfect once your used to the infotainment
System
You can set it to quick steering
But comfort gear changes
I was getting 7.3 litres/100 on highway
Now am in Covid lockdown
Can only go to shops and back 3 klm
It is doing 8.2
In Aus it is 110 kw and 220 nm

Hi Bruce, one thing about short distances is that they are worse for fuel consumption. Especially the little stop and goes from home to the shops. The car consumes less fuel on the highway with less changes to gears and continous drive. Unless you drive really slow, urban drive is never gonna take the consumption down.

Thanks to you, I took the H6 for a drive, and it is a beast!!! I also like that it can drive itself for some time. One crazy part....if you are on lance assist it does not allow you to cross the lanes without the indicator on.
I think about driving the H6 all the time now,

Hi Scellow, thanks a lot for the feedback. I truly appreciate it actually as it will help me reflect on what works and what does not. I actually deal with detail as I want a person to get as much as possible without going to check the car themselves hence my videos are usually long. Otherwise, I will look into that on where to improve.
Looking to bag the super lux. I am keen to see how the extra features like Lane-keeping assist, traffic light recognition are calibrated to SA roads.. Happy that they have Android Auto now.
I only got into the Super Lux once actually. Once you get it please please be cautious as this tech need to be used with care especially if they are just being introduced in a manufacture.

One feature Haval didn’t mention was “outside noise cancelling”. I test drove one and is quiet inside.

I have to say, I thought the power and torque figures are just on paper as it might feel too heavy but somehow it felt lighter than the smaller H2.
Ntate Sebuwa thanks for the review. I'm currently considering between Cherry and Haval Jolion. Although Cherry Tiggo 7 Pro is not in country yet it is my favorite. Cherry Tiggo Pro 4 is a little bit on the smaller side, so that's why I'm leaning more towards Haval Jolion due to big family as well and dealership in close proximity of Jeffreysbay where I am from. Much appreciated Willie 🙂. Great analysis right there, for someone who needs a bigger cabin between the two Jolion appears to be the right fit. Overall they are not far off from each other in tech and quality.

Cherry with features and service/warranty plans is calling but as I said due to family and you also refer to cabin space Haval will somehow win. But if take Haval will have to see between the different models and budget..

I rode as a passenger in this vehicle. I was very impressed with the quality of the interior and how quiet it is.. The car doors also felt relatively solid when I closed them.. My concern with this vehicle is: 1. The 1.5 turbo engine is under powered..2. Will this vehicle remain reliable as it ages? 3. Who makes the transmission for this vehicle.
Great review Sebuwa. Just a quick question- do you think the price difference between the Super Lux and Lux is worth it for all the extras- lane keeping assist, auto emergency breaking etc? I've read some reviews saying that they're not that well calibrated, so might not be worth getting. R30k price difference is quite significant. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks
Hi Danai, honestly its just a matter of whether you like those things and when they are new to the brand they are likely going to be inaccurate and can be dangerous to use. For me Lux is the sweet spot. As a matter of fact I rather take the H6 Lux 2WD at R455K, its bigger, bigger boot, bigger engine, bigger cabin space and it has those bells and whistles in the Jolion Super Lux. I will be making a video on it soon but to keep to the answer, I would rather get Lux than Super Lux.

Hi Sydwell, thank you very much as well. I honestly never had any issues that would warrant me to keep going in for aftersales service and I went there for 1 service so far which was as usual as any other brands. As for the group, I know it. I knew it even before I can buy Haval but I haven't seen anything that they said that was not part of what I would deem "normal loss". Every car manufacture has unhappy customers, it happens a lot. Haval is like any other, some of their products are likely going to be at fault but for me its about how many compared to total sales. For the question on reversing, I raised that in my initial H2 video which I know I experienced in other cars as well but when a car is perceived to be premium you get weary of that. Having driven it for 15 months now, I have not had anything fall off even when driving on gravel roads.

Nope. You can only change on the screen. It does not have much of a noise🤣... You will just hear air blowing out of the exhaust

Sebuwa if you can advise, as a first car buyer I am looking at their super luxury......... How much installment are we looking at if I pay R60000 deposit upfront?
Hi Mr Simm, you caught me as I was about to sleep but I got you🙂. Please note that this is not a financial advice but only conversing for informational purposes: Superlux is R398K, add the registration and service charge of around R5K its a total of R403K, you putting a big deposit of R60K which is fantastic and can score you a low rate with the bank. Assuming that your credit score is great the bank can give you the car at prime or less (you need to approach the bank and negotiate well). So continuing with the numbers you will be financing R343K, which will be R6354 per month (over 6 years) or R7287 (over 5 years) if I am using a high rate of prime plus 3 which is 10% currently. If you get it at Prime (which is 7%) it will even be lower at R5847 pm (over 6 years) or R6791 (over 5 years). See you need to convince the bank to give you a good rate.
I already drive a Jolion here in NZ. But this video made me love my Jolion more. I still need to figure out how to check my petrol consumption like the way you checked it in the beggingling of your video. Haha
Hi josh, 🤣 that happens a lot when the car is still new but I am sure you will know all the tricks soon. The buttons on the right will help you to change the screen there. The one used to enter into the menu is the one used to preset data like fuel consumptions for trips and so on. Just navigate the screen to the data you want to change then long press on the enter/ok button. Then to get the most out of that screen on many other changes. You need to be on park and fasten your seat belt, it will open more functions that you can play with on that screen like changing how the screen looks and so on.

Hi Sibusiso, apologies. I saw your comment two weeks ago but somehow I thought I got back to you. So far it has been okay as I have not experienced any major issues. One thing I am currently seeing is that the key battery is saying its flat which is a bit crazy considering that I have my Ford Fiesta is 7 years old but I never changed the battery for the key. Don't know if the whole keyless entry tech is the cause of this. Otherwise, no issue at all so far.

Don't trust range and consumption, from your screen - ever .
There is only one way to measure consumption.
Fill the tank , then reset the trip km to zero .
Drive a few hundred km then refill the tank .
For sake of discussion , let's say you went 250 km .
When refilling , divide the litres into the 250 km , say it was 19.5 litres .
19.5/250*100 will give your true consumption - 7.8L per 100 km .
Here endeth the lesson.

I did. According to me its the best for long term journey. So smooth and responsive still. It was just not long to see if it will have an impact on the fuel consumption though

I am from Australia. I just book the Jolion Lux model. I just wanted to know if there any extra cost for for choosing interior color like exterior one? The one I test drive got no apple carplay and Android auto and the dealer said they are temporarly unavailable because of some issue in the system and they will come back soon as the software updated. Is it same in South Africa?
Hi, here in SA black interior is the one that is available currently , all other interior options are optional, and they are subject to availability at additional cost. I think due to the pandemic there is a long waiting period as well. The car play and android auto are available already but they were not available a month ago.

I have had my Jolion for 4 weeks ot has done 2400 klm
I live in a semi urban area and am averaging 7.4 litre / 100 klm
It is very quiet and comfortable
The sound system is incredble and i find the steering and safety features very good
The gearbox is great and the performance much better than the outlander and equal to the xtrail but the gearbox is better

For fuel consumption, it normally improves overtime. Not only for Haval but generally.

Great review. The only problem I think one might run into especially in Namibia is brand appeal. People would rather buy a second hand established brand like VW T Cross as opposed to this Jolion that offers you more for your buck.
My wife and I are considering a family car and this can be on our list however brand appeal is a huge factor especially considering resale value.
Hi Max, somehow I missed your comment. Thanks a lot. You are spot on and my aim here is really to show people that there are other alternatives. We tend to limit our search based on what we are used to. I have been in a T-cross and I know you have to seriously break a bank if you need a good looking one and its smaller. I could not even choose it compared to the H2. I agree with you on brand appeal, especially if you might consider selling later, it will be a gamble if not many consumers are considering it. its really selling a lot here in SA which is giving many comfort.
What is the Crash test NCAP RATING THOUGH?
Hi, so far I don't think it has been tested. Haval's previous Gen H2 and H6 received 5 stars in Australia and China respectively. Not sure why they are yet to do the new Gen.
The 2 things that bug me is only 1 key fob ($NZ$600 for another one) and only able to open and lock drivers side only
