- I like to call the Haval Jolion a game changer, because it has been a game changer for Chinese car brands here in South Africa. It set the scene. Upped the ante. Was a cat among the pigeons. I could keep going, but I think you catch my drift. This is the Jolion S derivative and I bring you everything you need to know about it because I truly feel that if the Jolion is not on your car-buying list, then you're missing out. Next week I chat about the Hybrid model. I am all about Haval at the moment.

I would've had a Haval before for the features alone! Massive value for money, but they still need to work on the power-train. I had a 1.6 DCi Kadjar 4x4 which didn't have half the features of the Haval, but the Diesel engine had a punchy 320nm from 1700rpm topping at 96Kw, and I averaged a 5.6 l/100km over the 90 000 reliable kilometers I owned it for. Once they refine their already reliable engines, and bring performance and consumption figures up to more competitive standards I wouldn't think twice about buying it! Couldn’t agree more with your comments. Having bought the Jolion on launch lured by its features and value, the drivetrain has been underwhelming. Fuel consumption is through the roof and the gearbox is frustrating. Perhaps this S is more inspiring other than that I don’t think I’d purchase another Chinese car in a very long time

Don't mind the content and the different format is fine. As others have have noted, if it's a paid promotion, just mark it as such. TH-cam provides that option. Will still watch. Also, the background music was a bit loud.

The new video format is slick , maybe turn down the music a little bit but otherwise it’s really enjoyable to watch.

I've had it for the past 6 weeks. A beaut of a vehicle. Few issues with software captions not written by fluent English speaking people, but hopefully that can be fixed with an update. Turbo lag is significant, especially in eco mode, but the trade off is 11L/100kms so you just have to make a choice. Overall, super happy with product
Just another comment that confirms that I’d rather drive a used European or Japanese car for the same money that can get less than 8ltrs/100km and spares are abundant.
Is the tailgate auto on this one?

It a nice car to be sure. The deal breaker for us though was that sunroof. In the extreme of summer, you feel like you can't get away from the heat/sun. I don't know if they offer a solid sunroof that doesn't let the sun through for the top model.
Great that they brought out a model with a turbo though. I felt like both the Haval Jolion and the Toyota Corolla Cross had underwhelming engines, and that a turbo was needed.
I truly hate sunroof! I didn't notice the issue you mention, but in general, I am with you.
Interesting. I think perhaps their shade is too thin then. We have a 2013 Peugeot 3008 2 litre diesel with a full glass roof but the shade is thick. So when it's closed you don't really feel like you can't get away from the heat. In fact, driving through the karoo in the summer with the AC on and towing a caravan, my mom and sister sitting at the back were getting cold. So it depends on the manufacturer and the thickness of the shade.
And why are heated seats a thing in bloody hot Africa?

@@djpentz but winter is only cold in the morning and evening and only lasts two months and is nowhere near brutal.

I don’t think long term ownership is possible yet.. which is part of the problem with the throwaway system these cars seem to have. Owner maintenance on this is probably a nightmare.
Time will tell, but I don't really foresee a problem.
Didn't the Jolion always have a turbo 1.5?
yes it did.
I constantly black wheels... makes the car look like a cheap aftermarket job... HAVAL is still great bang for your buck

Two things I don't like about Julions, fuel consumption and ugly steering, even sport version don't get sporty steering.....I will pass thank you...😊
Am not happy about door, sunroof rubbers Qaulity is cheap it wont last. No cover underneath to protect the engine and this cars are not covered to warrant you will pay to fix cheapest material rubbers must be upgraded

I'm sold on Haval. When they brought out hybrids I knew they're going for blood.
Consider doing away with the background music while you're speaking. Makes your review feel like it's sponsored by Haval. Especially when you don't have your usual mini-'road rage' vibes.

@@julietmcguire I have absolutely no issue with promotional content. If it pays some bills, as you say. It takes me about 15s to notice the difference in style of a "honest" review and marketing speak. It just feels like I am being cheated if the video doesn't have a "promotional content" tag or something.
