      I'm just curious how you know what human beings were supposedly eating before that 12,000 year period that you mentioned. Because you also mention that sliver is all that we have for written human history? That can't be based off of any science because science itself stipulates that in order for the scientific method to be used something must be able to be observed, tested and retested. So So if we have no written history about it then who observed, tested, and retested what human beings ate before that time? Is this all simply conjecture and the use of one's imagination? Can you please list the sources? These are not sarcastic questions either I genuinely wish to know. Thank you.

    Just over 1 year ago I was diagnosed with NAFLD so I did a search on YT "How to reverse Fatty Liver" I found your channel. I wanted to comment under the actual video that helped me but I can't find it now. I had been a T2D with high cholesterol and High Blood Pressure for around 12 years. I used to take Metformin, Simvastatin and Ramiprill. I also had to have an annual blood test cos of this. When I went for my results this year and the nurse said I should sit down. I feared the worst. She was so happy to give me good news. My results were that of a healthy 55 year old man (which I am) and she told me to quit the meds and come back in 3 months for a check up. I have my life back thx to your videos, ty so much.

    Part of the problem is also convenience. Tearing open a bag of chips is instantaneous, but to make your own involves prep and clean up. I grow fruits and veggies and process them with dehydration, fermentation, freezing, and canning. This is time consuming. I’m assured that most of my food is organic. Fast food supports a frantic life style, and that has much to do with stress level. Convenience may destroy quality of life.

    Its been almost 3 months now. I dont eat sugar, no processed meet, no GMO. I eat only between 12pm and 5pm every single day since I started. I eat healthy. I try and avoid grains but on a few exceptional days have eaten low carb bread and popcorn with only salt (but those were exceptions). My staple is good meat and vegies. I also added exersize. No weight loss that I can reasonably witness on my clothes or my face (I don't have a scale). Hungry almost every day, especially between 9am and 12pm. In the past I was one of those people that ate breakfast every day and regular meals, so this was a big adjustment for me. I still continue because I did not do this primarily for weight loss, but I was hoping it would be a side benefit. Watched many of your videos and am still very grateful for the info. I did a blood test some time ago and was tested for mild insulin resistance HOMA 2.26 although my blood sugar levels were fine. My BMI is 30.3. Age 52, female. I have no chronic conditions and am generally healthy. Struggled with fatigue for the first two months, but that is ok now. Any suggestions?

    When I was growing up my mother served a lot of processed foods and sugar. At the dinner table, there were stacks of white bread, margarine and whole milk and we were encouraged to eat as much as we wanted. She would actually force us to sit at the table to finish what was in our plates after dinner. She died at 40 of a clogged descending aorta. I grew up with weight problems that have just gotten worse as I got older to the point now where I am a type II diabetic with about 50-60 pounds extra weight on me and it's almost impossible to lose now. I have been following you and Dr. Mindy Pelz and have been doing intermittent fasting. I now read labels and will not eat anything with transfat, inflammatory oils, fake sugar, corn sugar, or a high sugar content, etc. I am trying to be more consistent but still eat some processed foods. In order to lose weight, I really have to go low carb and exercise. The only other way I can lose weight is going on a low fat high carb diet like Jenny Craig. Weirdly, after a week on Jenny Craig, my blood sugars are completely normal even if I have a Jenny Craig Cinnamon Bun. That food comes in plastic containers which I've heard are obesegenic.

Your videos help to open up peoples eye and start think for themselves! But that takes some effort.

After confirming what you said through other sources I started changing my habits a little. Just over a month ago I was officially diagnosed with diabetes. From the day of the diagnosis, I started following a keto diet very strictly. I'm glad to say that after a month, my blood sugar is down from 180 to the 100-110 range. @drekberg The reply I often hear from people who contradict the benefits of eating the way ancestors did is, “Our ancestors had half the average lifespan of people nowadays.” It would be helpful if you included information and stats RE the main causes of death in our ancestors (infections for which there were not yet treatments, exposure to the elements, etc.) VS. the self-inflicted, predominantly metabolic causes of so much illness and death these days.

    • @jackiedelvalle
      @jackiedelvalle 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Plus a lack of safety laws for work like mining, building etc. Fires in homes, death in childbirth, all sorts of non-food related things. Now we're living longer bc we've largely addressed those things, but we're living long lives full of pain, ill health and medication. That's not progress!

    • @peterpan408
      @peterpan408 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When life is hazardous, the less hazardous elements of life are less important. For example it doesn't matter if a soldier smokes, drinks, and other things since fighting is more hazardous.
      However eliminating accidental and overwork related death has exposed our terminal illnesses.
      If no one lived past 60yo we wouldn't know about diabetes, cancer, dementia, heart failure etc.
      The only thing I worry about is if majority of people switch to whole low carb-high protein diets; The price of quality protein and fat (beef and dairy for example) would increase alot such that only the rich could afford to eat right.
      100% dairy free Carnivore is already too expensive for most people. However animal-based (including dairy, eggs, fish etc) is more reasonably priced.
      TBF eliminating ultra-processed foods saves a lot; the price per gram protein or fat on ultra-processed foods is quite bad.
      And unfortunately ultra-processed food is nothing more than seed oils mixed with fillers (carb sludge). You can get different flavors and hardness of sludge, but it's still sludge.😮

      @JA-zh5xi 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      While it’s true the average life span was closer to 40yo in 1900 there are two primary reasons for that:
      1) infectious disease killed a lot more people before antibiotics, aseptic techniques and controlling waste water,
      2) much higher infant mortality.
      Another issue was smoking and alcohol use.
      It had nothing to do with diet.

    • @peterpan408
      @peterpan408 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JA-zh5xi You logically can't go as far as to say that it has nothing to do with diet. Only that it cannot be isolated to diet, and may not be affected by diet at all.
      Hence there is no inference based on historical life expectancy.

    I really liked this video and indeed what you tell is true, modern grain, some varieties has also more protein, which in the grain it means more gluten (I saw 14.5 grams in a pasta package never seen this much before), as this is the main protein in the grain, while used to be rather 11-12 on the hard wheat;
    actually also the part about the grain chromosomes is very much on point, as I remember a lecture from my professor talking about it, saying that the new grains through interbreeding changed to the point of resulting in a very elastic type of gluten to make it easier to work with, while in the former varieties it was way easier to break;
    he also told that this could suggest that it is harder to digest the new varieties but that there was not a research available for this back then, so it was a bit of a speculation, despite it made sense.
    Just out of curiosity I made a research to see the nutrition values of some ancient variety from the surroundings of my home town and I noticed that also the carbs a slightly lower than the average, but anyone in our surroundings knows anyways that you cannot get full with this stuff, you need something proper as well! 😄

      1st let me say how happy I am that You have found a lifestyle that is truly bringing You Life!!
      Salt is a critical electrolyte. It also has been demonized wrongly.
      Without consuming over processed, canned or boxed foods one must add salt to have balanced electrolytes.
      Fresh veggies are super high in potassium for one.
      Carbo-hydrate is named that as every molecule carb holds 2 molecules of water so You stay hydrated; without eating carbs You need add salt to hold the water to not be dehydrated ☺️
      Also Dr Sten has videos on fats also that would be healthful for You to watch.
      There are other great Drs on here that can help give You a more balanced view also like Dr Eric Westman & Dr Ben Bikman to name just 2.

    The US felt the need to sell all the grains that were being stored up regardless of what's best for us. Always about the money

    It is very interesting what you are saying. My husband was a big meat eater. In my family we had only twice a week meat. And I was slim. But I thought about this, we did a lot of walking, first long walks to schools, then going on because we had no car walking to do shopping. Then on weekends hiking. Ofcourse this helped.
    Now eating daily meat, esp. Christmas and New Year lots of meat and I ended up with gout. The doctor catch on and looked through his papers ( no computer yet) and said to me, do you remember each year around the 10th of January you got gout. For a few years now I take Allopurinol 100 mg. I have high Uric Acid 11.8 and I am overweight. I sinned over Christmas eating "Lebkuchen" but since then I don't eat cakes, cookies or icecream, and I always say, thank you it is not Christmas. I also don't drink alcohol. I was told because of my high Uric Acid I should not eat meat. I think now for month may be I eat to much grain. Oats and All Bran mix with milk for breakfast, and I like bread. I was wondering about the bread we can buy to day. They put something in for anti mold. I am wondering if all the food we eat with chemicals have something to do to make us overweight.
    One other thing I also eat no fast food, always eating at home. Is there help for me????

    The right to left timeline seems so backwards to me doc. The rest of the presentation is quite illuminating.

      Thank you @jimantonino4394. Good point. I've used this illustration many times and for some reason I started from right to left. I'll probably switch next time. 😄

    What I found over my lifetime is how food has actually changed since the industrial revolution. Just thinking about how they changed sewer sludge to be categorized as a vitamin B in many products especially sports drinks. I also enjoy a good sweet watermelon and remembered as a kid, we had seeds, we used to see how far we could spit them. Now, there is no seeds in the watermelon. GMO is something that has been around since industrial revolution. Just depends on what period, these become foods on steroids GMO.

      @@andrewjack31 I work with bio analysts at my biotech company. If you look at the ingredients in "body Armor" sports drinks and will see a word at the end that begins with a "C" and has "ell" in the middle of the word.
      Then research it what it means. Unless he is playing a joke on me. But he switched sports drinks because of what he found.
