Was able to follow these instructions to fix my tenants washing machine. The timer had gotten dirty, causing it to skip part of the drain/spin cycle. This video was exactly what I needed. Thank you very much!

Thanks for the tips! mine wasn't the switch, it was the timer. it seemed clean when i broke it open, but sprayed it down anyways(electronic cleaner) closed it up and it fired up into the spin cylce! thanks again.
Thanks for the teaching! Our lid switch was split in half, and we fixed it with hot glue, and it worked. No slam the lid anymore, should be gentle.

This just saved my sanity. I thought I was going to have to order a replacement switch and use a laundromat while I waited for it to arrive. When I heard "zip tie" I decided to check it out. Sure enough, the top and bottom halves of the switch were separated. One long zip tie later and now it works. For those curious, I used a 5/16" socket. The sheet metal screws in the back might be metric, but it was close enough to get them off and back on.
