We are the same age. I do the same ol thing......when no one is around!!! Almost every 80s Hit that I remember listening to, I go back to that crazy 16 yo that I once was. I am now someone you wouldnt even think was a wild teenager. If anyone ever knew how I was compared to now, their jaw would hit the floor.

I loved the 80's I lived on the dance floor and spent all my money on clothes. I even got to be a house dancer with the opportunity to dance in the cage above the bar! The best time of my life at a place called Ballingers in Cambridge Ontario Canada.

You'll find it hard to find music you want if you stick to mainstream charts and trends. A tip for you is to search up for "genres". Will be one of the best things you'll do for yourself.
If you want to find music like this look up "Sophisti-Pop", and you'll find both old and modern indie artists who make this kind of music.

2023 this song still has me dancing around the house I'm nearly 60 but the 80s music was great and the energy Jimmy Somerville has is brilliant and love when the song is coming near the end and they're all on the dancefloor doing the dance routine we done that and we would be joined by other people in the night club great memories

Ok so it’s 2022 & I’m sitting in stationary traffic with the top down ‘dancing’ around to this fab piece of music… and wiggling my little ass around in the seat and what happens - but the lorry driver stopped next to me shouts down to me ‘what’s the track mate?’… and so then he & I continue to ‘dance and sing along’ with volume as loud as it will go. Happy days! Thank God I’m gay and can flirt with lorry drivers and dance along with the amazing talents of Jimmy S! Good times!

This song is the embodiment of why the eighties were so great. When I hear it, I feel on one hand sadness because I'm no longer a carefree kid like I was back then, but on the other hand I also feel a certain joy that I can't describe.

I've been around long enough to have been around when the Jackson 5 and Gloria Gaynor released their version of this song (both of which are fantastic) so I am quite familiar with this song. I just recently stumbled across this version by the Communards and I was WOWED!! It may be the best version yet!. Absolutely love it. It got my 75 year old bones up and dancing.
