I've never really understood... there were so many legendary, iconic musicians in the 80s that were obviously not heterosexual: Jimmy Somerville, Holly Johnson, Marc Almond, Neil Tennant of The Pet Shop Boys, Andy Bell of Erasure, Boy George, and of course the great Freddie Mercury and Elton John, to name a few. I was never put off by that because my parents never made a fuss about it. They were viewed as gifted artists by my parents. Their sexual identity or preference was a part of them, of course, but not a part that merited discussion nor judging. It was accepted as just as natural as heterosexuality. I have friends who grew up with these artists expressly forbidden from being played, where the radio was switched to a different station when their songs aired. I remember children in school badmouthing some of these artists because they were "weird". Now as I grow older and older, I start to realize how privileged I was to grow up with this music and how difficult it must have been for these artists to prosper in the way they did during these times. Mad kudos to you, Mr Somerville. The path you walked was probably not an easy one, but I know you changed the world for the better by doing it the way you did.

I love both versions the original and the Jimmy Somerville one, when it comes to disco songs versions the best ones are from mister Somerville, this and Don't leave this way are my favorite disco covers ever.
The Sylvester original was one of my favorites back when it came out, so I expect a lot of any remake. This is one of the best I've seen, for any classic song. It pays homage to the original in a respectful way, but brings plenty new to the mix to make this version its own thing. Really like how shots of Sylvester from the original music video are included as well. Nothing bad about this one at all.
