55 year old here whose musical tastes range from Tiffany to Norwegian Death Metal. The 80's were by far my personal favorite of musical genres. I head banged more times than I can remember, but I would not hesitate in a second to shake my old ass to this magnificent classic. Cheers, everyone! Wishing all music lovers well... Although I was a young black man in my R&B and Rap when this came out, it caught me emotionally and motivated me, I had to have, i bought the cassette and every one of the songs on that cassette was slamming, im turning,62 and I still listen to it just like i did in 1985 when it came out, strong lyrics!!!
I'm Brazilian, and I still remember trying to understand the lyrics at the age of 11, but incredibly, this powerful song touched my soul. A few years later, I was able to grasp the meanings and understand that songs like this will never fade away with time because they have enduring significance. Thank you, TFF, for this wonderful gift.
When this came out in 1985, we totally lost our minds! Music was *THAT* good. Everywhere I went, every high school dance, this was blasting out. NEVER GETS OLD !!

Meu amigo, hoje tenho meus 53 anos, e parece que vivo em outro planeta, hoje só porcarias de músicas e quem se diz ser cantar ou banda.... Aqui na minha região então só gostam de música sertaneja universitária.... Terrível!
Went to their concert last week in Dallas (2022) and it’s impressive how good they are after almost 40 years. It was for sure one of the best experiences of my life! Love Tears for Fears!
Very few bands can plunge you into a specific atmosphere and period the way Tears for Fears do. In their songs you have nostalgia, anxiety, anger, optimism, joy and sadness.
One of the greatest pop music songs ever made. So much feeling and meaning. TFF can take this to there grave knowing this song changed billions of peoples lives. What an accomplishment.
What a tune! This is one of the best things to have come out of the 80's. I love how it just builds and builds in the second half with that wailing lead guitar. Brilliantly written track.
He is such a good guitarist for a synth based band, tasty, fitting licks with a matching effect to the sound. Tears for Fears were masters of the craft.
It shouldn't actually even be surprising. They were artists. It's just unfortunate that a lot of the mainstream bands today are not true artists so we have to praise people who actually are. They all should be capable of excelling at their craft if they are famous lol.
I was a metal head in the 80s but all these years later I appreciate how great a song this really is. I crank it up in the car every chance I get recently.
_"In violent times you shouldn't have to sell your soul"_ _"Welcome to your life. Theres no turning back"_ _"Turn your back on Mother Nature"_ They're so brilliant at potent lyrics. Absolutely masterful at it.
I like how these tracks are listened by every age. I’m 15 years old right now and listening to people like Duran Duran, Billy Idol, and Tears for Fears. My dad loves to put these tracks on the radio since I was an infant. Truly a timeless classic for everyone!
Honestly, will this song EVER go out of style? What a true gem for all ages and decades. 31 years old here and so happy I had amazing parents who fell in love listening to Songs from the Big Chair on repeat and had this one in constant rotation throughout my childhood. Funny and almost fate-like that my now husband and I fell in love to the same album. SHOUT out to anybody from the 80s that got to experience this absolute classic firsthand brand-new in the 80s. This is one millennial that feels lost in the wrong decade telling you I have nostalgia for a time I wasn't even there for and feel like I truly should have been. Keep rocking you guys
I'm 53 and grew up in California. The 80's were without a doubt the best time to be a teenager. The music in all genre's was new and fresh and took risks that changed the industry. The world was there for us to explore and embrace. I miss those times. Where did the world go wrong?!!!
You should check out some of the 60s classics too. I think the BEST span of music started from the 60s until the very early 2000s. I'm in my early 40s and heard such a variety of music genres that the list of the "best" music spans whole decades and generations worth.
I almost tempted my best friend's dad in a bikini in my pre-teen years listening to this. That's after I shoplifted. So it has special resonance. Can anyone beat me? ::awkward silence::
I am 54 ;-) And I am still listening to it too. It's a real time machine to the 80's. So many memories of these years which were very important for me ...
I remember this song so well. Just listening to it again now at the great age of 69 I just realised that both these lovely men had EXACTLY THE SAME SINGING VOICE . The exact SAME voice in two different people, just incredible. I love the part of the clip where Curt is kneeling down singing with the two girls - as well as having a gorgeous face he has pure light and joy in his smile. Just a beautiful guy inside and out.
You know, one of the best things about being in my 50's now is that I lived my teenage years in the 80's.........Priceless and I wouldn't change them for the world!
@JustDavid-oo1ce 😂😂 That is actually me! I was a model and was employed as a 'look-a-like' back in the day (except my hair was blonde and my eyebrows a completely different shape. Also not as tanned!😂)
As a new guitarist in Grade 10. This was the solo I was so proud to learn. Such feeling...and easy to learn. Listening back now, this solo is similar to what Faith No More, Clapton, Pink Floyd or Metalica would do for this song. Even Eddie Van Halen. Perfect solo for such a great song.
100 years from today, people will still be listening to this song! These guys are LEGENDS! This song has endured the test of time and it will continue doing so for many generations to come.
The amount of creativity these groups learned how to pull out of synth sounds in the 1980s was staggering, especially considering how stifling a time it was otherwise. Their songs were masterpieces.
TH-cam is a musical Time Machine! It blows my mind that this song was released nearly 40 years ago! But now many different generations are enjoying it on here.
that's so true?? baby boomers, gen x, millennials, gen z, also gen alpha!! im speaking as a debated gen z - gen alpha (2012) and i love this, my dad taught me a lot
49 yr old black male.. Mostly rap and r&b fills my music collection. For years everything about this song hits deep and never fails to captivate me.. This track is flawless and will forever be timeless. 👌
All these years later and I finally understand everything there is to know about "Shout." What a special song. A powerful anthem for so many who fight every day!
But do you really understand? It's even deeper than you might realize. Type in Tears for Fears and Primal Therapy. The song is actually based on childhood trauma and Arthur Janov's Primal Therapy. It's not a protest song, although that's what people have made it into. I love it for that reason too. It's like The Police and Every Breath You Take. Totally misconstrued understanding of the meaning of the artist. But hey, that's the beauty of art. We all make our own interpretations out of it!
That's the time when The Outfield didn't get any biggest recognition to their home country. Only american people can appreciate them proudly. No involvements, just a fact for the both bands.
@@catherineb738 we're amazed by their talent. Their voices, instruments, all of them was a top notch. The most part why they're unique is they encountering some big serious situations/subjects in our everyday lives in a song.
The first time I heard this song was in Moscow in 1985 during the height of the Soviet Union whilst studying Structural Engineer.... Still gives me the same vibes as it did back then!
I can't describe how this song brings back those feelings, emotions, senses, and great memories of the summer 1985, one of the best periods of my life. It also a little sad because one realizes they can never go back to the past and relive that time. One of the greatest songs ever.
Went to see them last month iat the O2 Fucking brilliant they still got it and there songs don't seem out dated. My 23 yr old daughter came with me as she loves them too.
It's 2022 and this song never gets boring. Great song and the emotions you feel while listening. One of my favorite bands, I wish I was alive at that time.
I remember my mom taking me to sleep while listening to this song back in 86. We still sit to drink coffee at 4PM sometimes and I share my memories with her now that she's single. My time to take care of her has come.
I had been doing that for 6 years until on Valanetine's day of this year she passed at the age of 75 from a hemorrhagic seizure. I miss you mom. I love you, and will see you again one day.
@@liamnovak-lutz8890 my sincere condolences for your lost. I can't imagine how you feel but I'm sure she was in good hands and had fun during that time. Blessings my friend and may the force be with you 🙏
Underrated guitar solo. Super melodic, perfectly in tone with the feeling of the song. This is a great guitar solo that served a song, not the ego of the player.
They where ahead of there time! Damn there prophetic. There music speaks of the times we live in now but they seen it way ahead. This just touches my soul. So beautiful
I‘m 16 years old. One thing I love about phones and the internet is that I can find such songs. I‘d probably never ever have heard such bangers. Love you all
You're on a good track. English musos are the best. I am jealous you are hearing this music for the first times....I hope you have many more discoveries.
People say it's just nostalgia, rose-tinted glasses, everyone feels that way about their past, but there really is something different about this. There's a raw emotional power that is defined in the voice, the words, the very music being made.
I'm 19 right now, I've been listening to this since I was small as an ant, it's crazy how fast time passes and even crazier how some people commenting here have actively been listening to this song for longer than I've been alive. Much respect to y'all! Let's not let this one die, ever! ❤
I'm 14 years old but the Tears For Fears songs are simply beautiful, and they are one of those songs that I can listen to all day long and I won't get bored

Yes, a timeless classic here. I'm Chef Giovanni , please follow.
I was at their show here in Tampa in June. I took my 14 year old daughter with me..She loves this music, the show was awesome!!
I'm from New Orleans and the nearest concert to me was in Alpharetta, GA so alas, I couldn't make it. They rock!!
Lucky you.. hope you had the time of your life
I didn't know they were still touring, I'd lose my mind to catch a show.
Very few bands can plunge you into a specific atmosphere and period the way Tears for Fears do. In their songs you have nostalgia, anxiety, anger, optimism, joy and sadness.

It shouldn't actually even be surprising. They were artists. It's just unfortunate that a lot of the mainstream bands today are not true artists so we have to praise people who actually are. They all should be capable of excelling at their craft if they are famous lol.
I really like this band and INXS for music that was very unique. Both of those bands were extremely unique and innovative.
I was a metal head in the 80s but all these years later I appreciate how great a song this really is. I crank it up in the car every chance I get recently.

What a true gem for all ages and decades. 31 years old here and so happy I had amazing parents who fell in love listening to Songs from the Big Chair on repeat and had this one in constant rotation throughout my childhood. All these years later and I finally understand everything there is to know about "Shout." What a special song. A powerful anthem for so many who fight every day!
Right!

These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
And when you've taken down your guard
If I could change your mind
I'd really love to break your heart
I'd really love to break your heart
Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
(Break your heart)
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you so come on
