    If i wanted to clean my lower intake manifold would you recommend removing it? I wanna clean off the oil film that’s definitely in there since my car is at 280k. Can i just like spray some APC lightly on a shop towel and wipe it off? Considering doing an air oil separator after the fact to keep me from having to clean again

    • @MustangV6TechSupport
      @MustangV6TechSupport  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I reccomend removal and using aerosol Throttle/carb/valve cleaner. Just take dab shots and a quarter of a paper towel and wipe the dab once or twice and throw them away. I have returned completely greased and carbon fouled intakes this way including all seen in the video to new. Works great for you application to keep the manifold clean.

    If the 4.6 throttle body fits could you use the 4.6 plenum and throttle be body and mount the iac on that?

    • @MustangV6TechSupport

      No. The 4.6 plenum elbow has an oval port that does not adapt to the v6 throttle inlets without a custom adapter

  • @KCunknwn

    How do you remove the lower intake manifold I’ve hit a speed bump with the imrc/fuel line connection does the fuel line come right up off with some force or do you know the correct size of the two bolts holding down the imrc solenoid 8mm fit a little too big and 7mm wouldn’t fit around if anyone has the information for this i would really appreciate it

    • @MustangV6TechSupport
      @MustangV6TechSupport  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is roughly 14 lower intake bolts holding the lower intake down, as well as the EGR and Coolant lines to both the heater core, water pump and radiator.
      Fuel line is a "quick disconnect" fuel fitting tool commonly found even at wal mart.
      The imrc mount bolts are 8mm and the mini arms have small white plastic fittings that hold them to the runner control arm. The plastic "IMRC fittings" are available at autozone and advanced for around 5$.

    Do you think the freestar swap is worth it for an N/A setup at higher alititudes with already less dense air?

    • @MustangV6TechSupport
      @MustangV6TechSupport  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes. When the mustang intake and camshaft is swapped out for any other Essex intake/cam you can expect a roughly +45 torque gain and +20hp with a tune. I do have the dyno proving this available on the FB group @new edge mustang v6 tech support.

      Why not go with the F150 manifold? Better torque and equal power gains

    • @ZergMazter
      @ZergMazter 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lclnbm I was under the impression The freestar and the F150 4.2 share the same intake manifolds. They are the same in the pictures I found. Also I changed my mind and I'm going to be doing the 2003 windstar upper-middle-lower intake manifold mostly because I don't like how the freestar/f150 looks. Its the clam shell one with the snake style upper manifold. In the end my choice will only be slightly inferior to the 2008 4.2 f150 which was supposed to have 260 torque, and I will only get 240 torque from the windstar, but it still beats my current 200 torque. Unfortunately I will pass on the 20 additional torque because It's not the best looking manifold imo lol. I'm already looking for a 3inch cowl for it. Well I got more than 200 torque but I dont know how much. I got some upgrades that made my automatic get to 60 in 7 secs so far down from 9 secs.

    • @MustangV6TechSupport
      @MustangV6TechSupport  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but you would first need to swap 99+ mustang v6 heads, lower intake and then install the windstar intake manifold.
      Split port heads swap is what you would want to google and follow the procedure, then windstar upper intake.

    • @MustangV6TechSupport
      @MustangV6TechSupport  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a direct bolt on, but the IAC canal is built into the V6 throttles. To do this mod is easy but requires a "Remote IAC" modification to remotley place the IAC not attached to the throttle.

      How is the remote IAC mod done? With a vacuum line or something like that?

    • @MustangV6TechSupport
      @MustangV6TechSupport  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is several ways in matrix of cost and ease. All can be found on google. I will always promote same way i do it wich is less known. Purchase 96-01 explorer 5.0/ 96-98 windstar 3.8 IAC. They can be directly thread tapped with 3/8 NPT tap. Then screw "3/8npt x 3/8 barbed fittings" into the threads. This is done to make no vaccum leaks compared to other methods. It is also the cheapest way. I have a video featuring how to tap these IAC in my videos section.
      You then connect this DIY inline with 3/8 hose so it is no longer connected to the engine and can be placed elsewhere inline.

      There are obvious advantages of having the pushrod over the OHC though, especially since Ford engines aren't exactly immune to blown head gaskets or disintegrating chain guides. Other advantages are possible better mpg, cheaper insurance, and lighter weight which means better handling while not having to have as harsh a ride.
