So fun fact, if you go back to Qrow's first appearance, his 'bad luck' is hinted at. When he gets up to leave the bar, the bartender drops the glass and shatters it. And then when he's fighting Winter, Ironwood shows up at the worst possible moment for her.

Mhm and in the fight with tyrian he glanced at that weak beam and baited tyrian to land on it to make him fall into that house, but then when ruby joined in the beam that nearly fell on her was from the semblance for sure

      @DocMicrowave 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

Let's see. Ruby firing at a stationary Tyrian during is fight with Qrow kept missing. Because he was too close to Qrow. (Withing is bubble of bad luck if you will.) Episode 4x7.
It is possibly his bad luck is why Tyrian had trouble shooting at Qrow and scoring hits. Even at point blank range.
Not to mention Tyrian not being able to see a punch in the face coming despite dodging strikes and ordinance from Qrow's weapon.
A burning log falls off the fire after Qrow walks away is another example of his bad luck at work. As he was close to and in indirect contact with the camp fire wood moments earlier in V4x8.
Bad luck for Ruby and Yang trying to beat Qrow at video games in V3x4.
Hmmm, Bad luck for any Grimm trying to attack RNJR while Qrow was watching over them.
Qrow may not be able to control his semblance, but he knows how to manage it to his advantage when fighting an enemy.
This also explains why Ironwood may be a little intimidated by him.
There will be other examples in future episodes.

If you look back at a lot of Qrow's screentime, every now and then little events happen that hint at him being a bad luck charm, honestly it really gives you insight into why he's so solitary and "lone wolf" like. Remember when Jaun said "Looks like our luck is looking up" and we later see Qrow following them at a distance, and he scoffs at the word luck? Poor guy really.

Hints of Qrow’s semblance throughout the show (some may just be coincidence):
    - In his first scene at the bar, the bartender drops a glass (“Oh gee darn it…”)
    - Ironwood stops the fight before Winter can gain an advantage
    - Ruby misses her first shot at Tyrian
    - A beam breaks beneath Tyrian’s feet during their fight

      - Tryian is able to dodge ranged attacks from Qrow's weapon, but not a direct punch in the face from him.
      - A log falls off the camp fire after Qrow was close to and in indirect contact with it.
      - Any Grimm tracking RNJR while Qrow is watching over them is unlucky.
      - Ruby and Yang cannot beat Qrow at Video Games. (Bad luck.)
This might be reaching a bit too far but,
      - Tyrian scores a top shelf drink instead of the bottom shelf Raven wanted to purchase. Bad luck on Raven if she gets charged for top shelf.
And if she skipped out on paying, bad luck on the establishment.

Now that you know Qrow's semblance, think about when you have seen him drinking.
It's always when he is around other people, not by himself.
Alcohol impairs motor functions, thought processes, and many other autonomic functions.
Qrow doesn't drink because he is an alcoholic, he drinks because it muffles his semblance from hurting the people around him. Qrow was on his own before he fought Tyrian, and a rewatch of his fight with Tyrian will show just how mean his semblance can be in a fight. Now rewatch Qrow's drunken brawl with Winter. The most his semblance was capable of doing was causing a glass to fall off of a counter.
Qrow was drunkenly playing with Winter, even flirting. If Qrow was sober, Winter would have no chance. Neither would the crowd watching.

Now that I think about it, Qrow wasn't there for the disaster in the vault. But he doesn't hesitate to tell Jaune "she chose, you heard her." He must know that Oz would never have thrown the switch without getting verbal consent. (Taking precious seconds to do it, too, and we'll never know if it would've made a difference.)

The bartender accidentally breaks a glass. Later when he’s fighting Winter, Ironwood shows up at a really unfortunate time… for Winter anyways lol Fighting Tyrion on the rooftop, Tyrion landed on the cracked support beam and fell through the roof. And of course the beam nearly landing on Ruby right before Qrow got stung.

To be fair to Blake regarding Sun, she was having a private conversation with her father and it looked like Sun was spying on her so she had reason to be angry with him at the time. Even if Sun did have important information about the White Fang, it probably could have waited an hour or so and it was important that she stablish with him early on that he has to respect her privacy given what it looked like he was doing. So I dont blame her for being unable to switch gears immediately, it looked like he was trying to dismiss what he did to make her upset as unimportant.

Also highlights a core theme of how the portrayal of light and dark itself is often a lot more constricted to stereotypes than what it really is by lack of or string fed information and how the full story is never truly there.

Sorry for the wait, been busy, but i got some fun facts for this and the next episodes.
    Fun Facts
Fact 1: The shadows during Qrow's story are in the style of the World of Remnant series.
Fact 2: The music that plays during Qrow's story is called "Gods.. Origin of Humankind.. Oh Right, And the Relics. Got All That?". Composer Alex Abraham had released the track on his SoundCloud for free public streaming.
Fact 3: Miles Luna stated that the whole campfire scene in the episode was probably one of the most difficult things to write in the Volume due to his much they needed to cover. According to Kerry Shawcross, more people worked on this scene than any other in the Volume.
Fact 4: Miles Luna wrote the majority of Blake's scenes in the Volume. When Blake is slapping Sun, Miles only intended it to be softer slaps on the shoulder, so he was quite surprised by the end result.
Fact 5: After the release of this episode, Arryn Zech (voice of Blake Belladonna) made a post on Twitter addressing Blake slapping Sun, stating, "Just because something is out of character, doesn't mean it's wrong, nor is it bad writing. Victims of abuse can become abusers themselves. Everything is Blake's fault to her. Everywhere she goes, everyone she loves, falls. To have an outburst after everything IS out of character and that's the point."

I think the reason Blake was so confrontational when the White Fang was literally on her doorstep, versus refusing to listen to Sun, was that they *were literally on her doorstep.* She's said she's not looking for a fight right now - but that doesn't mean she won't fight if she has to. If they come to her, she'll step up. But she doesn't want to get dragged into it, which is what it kind of feels like Sun is doing. Yes, he has important information, but she's trying to take time to deal with the trauma she received from that fight, which is hard to do when someone keeps bringing up information to help with the fight. But even at the end, they realized there was a spy, and she took off after them immediately. She knows there's a fight going on and she's willing to fight it, she just hasn't been ready to admit that it's literally on her doorstep yet.
tl;dr: She was willing to fight the two representatives of the White Fang when they showed up because there were potential terrorists threatening her family; she's not willing to listen to Sun because she feels like he's trying to drag her back into a fight that she's specifically told him she's not here to fight, without the immediate threat of a potential terrorist literally standing on her doorstep.

He also didn't show signs of being "poisoned" until the morning after the fight (for context, a King Cobra's venom can kill in 30 minutes or so, a scorpion's venom takes about 2-4 hours before the affects become clear).

Blake came from a loving home, and while her path created a schism and removed her from it, they welcomed her with open arms when she did make her way back in her darkest moment. Ghira's first instinct is to suggest she put some more clothes on
Tai has had it rough, his first wife left him alone with Baby Yang and his second died on one of Oz's Secret Missions. we know from the girls that he "kinda checked out after that", but he's there to take care of his eldest daughter and bring her back to health, even if it's stopping him from following his youngest.
on the other hand, we have the Schnee household, there is no love there, no warmth, no smiles. it's no home. Winter and Weiss only began to grow after they escaped it's influence. Jaques Schnee is no father, Whitley isn't old enough to question him yet, and their mother is nowhere to be found, just "in the garden, drinking".

Blake wanted this moment for a long time, being forgiven by her Family/Father and Monkey Boy ruined it. I like Sun and think hes a fun character but times like this realy hammer it home that "Blacksun" was never gonna be a thing for me. Huge plus for Blakes Dad in this Ep for not only saying exactly what every Father should, but doing it despite being awkward Af ^^

This is the episode that sunk blacksun for me
Blake throwing Sun’s phone off the roof is just so frustrating to me despite him really just trying his best
I also always wanted Blake to care more about Sun which she does sometimes but I’d like her to help him out with his battles and talk to him about his life
Sun is a volume 1 character who we for a while we knew very little about

It always makes me smile that Ghira complains that Blake is not covered enough, when he himself is just wearing a coat with nothing underneath. Even though protecting its belly is a common reaction of cats, so it's just a small reference here.
Another point I would like to address is about Ozpin and Pyrrha. Now that you know that Ozpin is merging with Oscar and that Ozpin isn't even his first identity, it sheds a new light on the events of that night. When Ozpin says he needs to hear Pyrrha tell him she's ok with becoming a maiden and then apologizes, it's because he knows very well what it's like to have two souls merging.
We could argue that Ozpin gave the illusion of choice, but I sincerely think that if Pyrrha had said no, Ozpin wouldn't have gone ahead with the idea of making her a maiden.

So I was thinking about them not knowing about the poison of a scorpion and I think I've come up with a reasonable theory. Our RNJR crew and the adults living in Remnant have more than animals to learn and be wary of. More dangerous than animals are Grim. I am guessing that the people of Remnant learn far more about Grim and how to defend against Grim than about animals. Animals in general are probably not seen as major threats since the Grim probably keep the animal populations in check.
Also it's clear that the world-wide information shared between kingdoms is not to the level of the internet or communication found in our world, So it's likely that scorpions are only native to certain regions and are not a commonly known about animal world-wide.
So in general the children in Remnant probably don't learn about animals in school or home nearly to the extent that we do. Think back to when RNJR saw Tyrian remove his jacket for the first time. They said, "he's a faunus?!" But most viewers would say "he's a scorpion." Team RNJR saw his tail and knew he was a faunus, but may have had no clue what part animal he actually was. And clearly adults like Qrow don't have great animal knowledge either.

To answer your question about the scorpion sting they probably just aren’t as knowledgeable about scorpions as we would be the four kingdoms are more or less single environment nations Vale is a fertile mountainous environment which doesn’t contain a lot of scorpions other than the Grimm of course but those don’t seem to be poisonous

Jaune's angst gets old fast, and dumb kitty continues to dumb. The conversation with her dad was great, but the slaphappy scene reinforced everyone's dislike of Blake. More than one fan has reworked her arc in this volume, and that scene in particular. After Adam's everything-you-love threat, going to Menagerie to check on her family would make more sense; and after triggering the sea grimm, she should know better than to keep freaking out. Meanwhile, we now know why everyone ignored Qrow getting envenomed: a cliffhanger ending that doesn't work because *everybody knows!*
...Cool origin story, though, right? Thank smeg it wasn't just them sitting around talking the whole time.

In the meantime, things are starting to come together for the big finale of the volume. I hope you’re looking forward to the next four episodes, because things are going to escalate.

It seems interesting on the story about the “God Brothers” of RWBY religion as I am going to be curious on how May you both react to the moment they show up during the series as it’s going to be breathtaking or some more interesting stuff to learn about. 😌 Also I catch at 19:13 that it seems interesting to see that Faunus’s hair seems to symbolize a “Chameleon’s Tail”? I wonder if that is a style of character design or something bigger? 🤔

And here is where we get one of the major cruxes of nearly every argument as to why RWBY is bad past Volume 3: the relics. Introducing the concept of artifacts that have the power to reshape the world on top of being capable of using magic makes it feel like the show is having an identity crisis, not knowing how to move forward. As a long time fan of RWBY, I know and understand that it is incredibly difficult to keep a show going when the original creator isn't around to build the story. And as such, they wanted to keep RWBY going to honor his memory. So instead of nitpicking the things about the show that you don't like, take the time to show love and appreciation for the hard work everyone had put into it to keep Monty's dream alive.

Yeah, Volume 4 honestly made me hate Blake. She was so insensitive towards Sun and I felt terrible for him. I understand her perspective, but she had no right to lash out like that. I'm still not fond of her to this day. It left a really bad taste in my mouth and made me hard to side with her. IMO, she is way worse than V1 Weiss here. At least Weiss was entertaining.

    • @AlphaOmega08922

No right to lash out? He was spying on her and interrupted a tender moment between her and her father, whom she hasn't seen in a long time. The last time she saw her dad, they were fighting about the White Fang. They were finally reconnexting after who knows how long, and Sun interrupted that to talk to her about something she has made perfectly clear to him that she has no interest in. Something that easily could have waited another hour. Blake had *every* right to get mad at him like she did.
Yes, in Sun's perspective, he was just passing on information that he thought she'd need to know, trying to be helpful. But from Blake's persepctive, he simply has no respect for her boundaries.

@@AlphaOmega08922 Sun's intentions outweigh Blake's frustration. Sure, spending time with your dad is important, but would you say that is more important than the protection of your own well being? Hell no! Family time is always there. You can come back to it.
Lashing out at him by slapping him, disregarding his concerns for her, and throwing his phone out of his hand is completely uncalled for. All of that due to an honest mistake with good intentions. If my friend accidently barged into the room between a personal conversation with my parents, I wouldn't fuss over it in the slightest. I might change the subject, but I wouldn't abuse my friend for it. That's fucking stupid.

@@thesharinganbeast6478 He might have had good intentions but if there's one thing about Sun that is a reflection of a lot of men is that he doesn't know how to read the room or women. Sun has the tendency to have no tact because of that. He was too invasive and he was yet another that STALKED Blake. Adam stalked Blake, Then Sun and even to a lesser degree Ilia stalked Blake. It gets tiring as well as extremely creepy after awhile so it's understandable that Blake to a degree even fills a bit violated by that as well.
Sun is a great catalyst for finally motivating Blake to return to her rightful place on her team since he pointed out how much she needed them as well as they needed her and she needed to make amends with her partner which is what Sun pushed for too. So regardless, he was pivotal and a part of her journey to getting back with her team.

@@djsaucy_tonight Don't even compare Sun and Adam in the same freaking room. Blake left her team with no explanation. She made her team suffer. For what? Just to see her parents? Why couldn't she talk to her team about that? She is filled with insecurities. Sun went after her to find out why she left her friends, not to "stalk" her for his own benefit, like Adam. She abused him for an honest mistake, which again isn't what a friend would do. Especially in the circumstance where Blake's life was at risk.
      SPOILERS from V4-V5:
Because he was there for her, talked it out, and pointed out the obvious, she was able to come to her senses and join up with her team. @@thesharinganbeast6478 I'm comparing Sun to typical guys who jump to conclusions with women. I've dated those kind of fellas. They mean well but sometimes they are a bit too forward. Not all guys are like that but Sun is supposed to represent that kind of personality though it was supposed to be in a light hearted way. Sun represents the kind of person who knee jerks in reaction to other people. Blake left her team due to her emotional hang ups. Was wrong of her to do that? Of course!
She left due to her guilt. She blamed herself for Yang's injury and that guilt and potential reconciliation is what was part of V6 and her entwined story line with Yang. She also had assumed that removing herself out of the picture would get Adam to leave her friends alone. It was the wrong call of course but fear and paranoia can lead to poor choices.
As for Sun getting slapped that was more of an animation misdirection error. Miles had explained in a RWBY panel once that he was shocked that the animator had made the slaps harsher than what he had described in the script for that episode. Misinterpretation occurs though. Sometimes even storyboard artists might misinterpret the intentions of the script writer once a script is greenlit and sent to the preproduction visual development team.
Anyhow, Team RWBY and other characters are all flawed. It's not about how perfect or imperfect characters are but how they learn to pick themselves up and work thru their circumstances by not letting those circumstances define them. It took a few volumes and arcs for Blake to eventually learn from her bad choices and make better ones. As with the other characters like Yang getting over her depression and learning to deal with her PTSD as well as the character development that Weiss went through like back in the earlier volumes where she had to overcome her existing prejudice against another species due to the influence of her environment and family.
To keep focusing on Blake's flaws is to flanderize her. Life is about learning from mistakes and sometimes we fall over and over again. but Monty's message was always about, "Keep moving forward."
His original message, "The effort you put forth to anything transcends yourself, for there is no futility even in death. The goal isn't to live on forever; it's to make something that does. Keep moving forward" meant so many things though his original message was regarding letting an idea/concept from dying out. In one video he was interviewed where he mentioned, "Moving forward is--I always think about what's next." CRWBY had paid homage to this quote throughout the show by showcasing characters overcoming their adversity whether it be a physical obstacle or an emotional and mental one. Blake had a lot of Fear, Anger and Resentment for her situation. She needed to work through that and with Sun's motivation, she was able to pick herself up out of her funk despite resisting at first.
She even learned to forgive which is something that a lot of us fans still don't know how to do. Sometimes we do this conditionally. She forgave Ilia unconditionally because the only way to move forward in life is to not hang on to the emotional/mental baggage that holds us back. Sometimes, the true enemy we face in life is ourselves. We become our own obstructed path because of our own intrusive thoughts that make us cynical. Blake was her own worst enemy. Blake had put herself in a comfort zone by not wanting to work out her problems at first. But in order for her to grow, she had to get out of that safe bubble and face her fears. By doing so, she learned resilience and is continuing to do so as life is always about learning.
