    Very helpful! I'm trying to install one where windows are already installed so planning to remove the casing but i couldn't understand why you have to leave 3/16th inch

    Thanks for making this video. It was very helpful for a similar project I will be doing.FYI, you need box extenders for the outlets. They no longer meet code where I live when you just bump them out like that. At least wrap them with electrical tape.

    If you were going to stain and seal the wood, should you do that after installation or before? Thanks for the detailed video!

      Hey JuliAnn. We installed all of it, then stained it. If you check out our other video we have a step by step guide of how we did a distressed look to it.

    I am going to be doing shiplap directly onto the studs (with paper backed insulation) in my garage. Anything you would do different vs. installing over drywall?

    • @BeauandKendall
      @BeauandKendall  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes directly onto studs will be great. We do that on new construction but this one was a remodel so didn’t want the mess for the customer. 👍

    When you hang shiplap around a door do you remove the trim around the door and then rehang the trim or run it it up against the door trim? Im trying to figure out how to do it on a wall that currently has a finished door on the wall..

    • @BeauandKendall
      @BeauandKendall  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We would pull the trim off the door all the way around then run it all even to the door jamb and add the trim back on top of the shiplap.

    I have a question. Is it necessary to remove interior windows to install shiplap board? I have a contractor who is putting this into his labor cost on his estimate.

    • @BeauandKendall
      @BeauandKendall  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Lanya. No it is not necessary. Your Windows should already be installed and the Windows need to be cased out with wood in the openings. You can remove the Sheetrock and install casing. For example we used 1x5 finger joint wood around openings so we can install shiplap up to it. Hope this helps!

    Can I install tung and grove pine around a claw foot tub ?

    • @BeauandKendall
      @BeauandKendall  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're talking about the walls around it, it shouldn't be a problem. Just seal the wood.

    How would you install in on a metal framed wall?

    • @BeauandKendall
      @BeauandKendall  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’ll have to use a wood to metal trim screw would be the easiest way. Then putty the holes. Usually trim screws are really small

    Thanks for the video! I ordered my materials before watching videos. Instead of factoring full-width pieces at the windows to cut out after nailing, I measured and bought shorter pieces for either side of the window. I did add a few extra pieces for each of my sizes. Do you think I'll run into issues with matching up level at the top of the window when I transition from the shorter pieces back to the full width pieces? Does my question make sense?

    • @BeauandKendall
      @BeauandKendall  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment. No you shouldn't have any problems at all. Just measure and map it out before install to make sure it ends up where you want it to. Hope this helps.

      Interior you don’t have to seal it but yes exterior definitely seal with something or paint.

    what kind of nail and how long?

    • @BeauandKendall
      @BeauandKendall  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s in a finish nail gun. Our sheetrock was 1/2 inch and 1/2 inch for shiplap so we did an 1-5/8 through the tongue on it.

    • @BeauandKendall

      We use a local lumber yard. This is a white fir tongue and groove. Easy to work with.

  • @jsand8301
    @jsand8301 ปีที่แล้ว

    It looks like you installed tongue and groove not shiplap. I don’t think an electrical inspection would pass those receptacles with the lugs outside of the box. You need to extend the boxes out flush with the boards. Also you only needed long boards below and above the windows. You could have use shorter boards between the windows and cut the side pieces from a few shorter boards or used cutoff pieces to save money. But you probably already knew all of this.
