I painted the boards and the trim first. I filled in the nail holes afterwards and then sanded/painted over them. That prevented me from having any paint globs in the spaces
I used 1/4” plywood on my bedroom walls. I cut them on my table saw. Saved $$. You can see the natural uneven finish in the boards and some unevenness in the gaps which gave the room a nice rustic feel. I sprayed them to get the paint into the gaps and a more consistent finish.
It looks great and it looks easy to do. And you all will have your work all cut out for you to do. You’ll never run out of anything to do. Lol. See you next week stay safe.
I just have to say you both are so cute. Me and my husband have 4 kids, just bought a house in Arizona and this video was so helpful. We are going to do this project. The baby is 9 mths. Wish us luck lol
I love love your channel. I watched every video. I can not get enough of it. If I was going to rate your channel It would be a 2 million. Its amazing I wish you could make more videos. It is my all time favorite channel.
If you put painters tape where you put the nails in, then caulk the nails before pulling of the tape, you won't have to sand where you covered the nails.
Looks great and it gave us some ideas. A couple of questions for you. What type of plywood did you use? Just a good-one-side plain plywood or did you use a nice Birch plywood? Also, did your paint roller get into the edges of your strips or did you need to brush the gaps before rolling? Thanks.
Your finished product looks good but I have to say, that is not shiplap in any way. Shiplap means there’s an overlap of the boards, kinda similar to tongue and groove.
What church do y'all go too? Your children are adorable. I watched all the videos in about 2 weeks. I love them all so much. I have not found any other channel that I really like. Do you mind if I share your channel? I love how y'all talk about God. I am a Christian. God comes first in everything I do. I was a Missionary to American Samoa and PNG. Now my Dad is a pastor in MS.
Oh my word, so sweet. So glad you found us and like our channel, we don't currently have a church with Covid and just moving its been difficult to get the feel of a church but we are Christians ❤️
Thank you! They told us at the store to start from the bottom & work up!! SOO glad I watched this! You kept us from making a HUGE mistake!!

Stud finder joke was funny. 😂
You can also use a neodymium magnet to find the studs as they will stick to the sheetrock screws through the sheetrock.

Thank you! So many projects😆 it’s a good thing we love it
This is a beautiful job and a lot of work, deserves to be in a area to be appreciated
We actually took it down 😱 I put a fake brick wall up instead

Hope it went smoothly for y'all!
What was the caulking used for
Looks soooo good!❤
You two are so fun 💜🦋
Ohh thank you! We love doing projects together

Looks so cute and you guys are adorable too ❤️ thanks for the tips!

Such a wonderful job guys!!!...I am totally in love with you two!!!💕
Thank you so much!!

This turned out SO good! Thanks for sharing! We might do this in a rental someday soon!
Please do! Show me if you decide to!
It’s beautiful and you made it look so easy. Great job!
Thank you! So many more projects to come 🙌
Great Job
Hello from Washington State!! Thank you for video!!💐🎄😁
Thanks for saying hey 👋👋👋
Looks great you 2! Excited to see what else you come up with. 😃
Thanks! Redoing the bathroom now 👍
Can’t wait to see more, well done x
Thanks! So much more to come.
Great job 👍👏 😊!! Love you guys and you are wonderful ❤️!!
Ohh thanks Amy!
Great job. Can't wait for the RV redo.
I need to get some serious organization in there, wall paper, shower update! Lots to come
What did you use for the spacer?
Where did you buy the panels? Lowe’s ?
Good job you two!
Thanks!

I found out about this truck recently! wish I would have known it when we did the wall👍
So, then you shoot the nail through the painters tape? Just making sure what you mean because that is brilliant.
What size nails/brads did you use for 1/4” plywood?
What nails you use brad or finish
what nails and nail gun did you use?
What is thicknes of spacer bar you have used here ???
Just subscribed…. Good job guys
Thanks!
Oh my god I actually laughed really hard over the stud finder joke 😂
Haha well Rita, we have a LOT of bad jokes so you're in the right place 😂
I LOVE the shiplap look. Hmmm, I'm checking out my walls now...;)
yesss! look them over, it can hide a lot of imperfections on drywall and ad character to your home.
Looks great! How did you ensure the paint doesn’t get in/look weird in the shiplap gaps?
Just don't glob the paint on and it goes on smoothly in the cracks👍
What are you using to space the boards? Thank you.
💰Pennies
I think im going to paint the wall where the shiplap meets black to give it more depth for the boards...
We always paint the color of the ship lap but id interested to see that too!
Was the plywood sanded on one side. Did you lightly sans prior to putting up
Awesome job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice...
Thanks! Making this house a home 👍
What kind of wood did you use and how long do the nail Brad's need to be?
You obviously didn't watch the video 🙄

Always brush gaps and corners. My dad used to paint professionally and always took us along when he could.
Looks great - but why wouldn't you paint the wall the same color as you paint the shiplap?
Can you use glue along with nails to hold the ship lap in place?
Yes you can. A lot of people do but it will destroy the drywall behind it👍
- if you remove it
What did y’all use the paintable caulk for? We are doing this to our nursery this weekend! Just want to make sure I didn’t miss any steps. ☺️
Did you use a quarter to space the boards?
What did you use for spacing
Pennies
Could you still do this if you just have stud walls?
No not this but tongue and groove would totally work!
I love this..... i wish i owned my own home bc i would be doing this ❤
It is so fun! Rentals are fun to spruce up too in creative ways you can take with you 🎉
“Stop stop stop stop stop” while he’s putting the kids to bed is the story of my life 😂
Lol same
haha #momlife
The HoneyDo list continues to grow!! LOL 😂 great work!
Always! haha I guess thats what happens when we keep buying outdated houses lol
Does paint pool in the gaps?
I have not had that problem but I do use a very light roller and have a thin pain brush on hand if needed.
"mom I got a splinter" "You did? You dying" LMFAOOOOOOOO
Love the shiplap! You did a great job. Can’t wait to watch your other videos. Oh! And I love your light fixtures...where did you get them from?
Hey! Thanks so much Kimberly, we got the light fixtures from Lowes.com 👏
Help. Was the plywood sanded on just one side
sorry just saw this. Lightly sanded where needed. I do both sides.
Lol I was waiting on the dad joke 🤣
why would you have to do that if the shiplap is tongue and groove?
this was budget shiplap. it's cut down plywood 👍
Rich people use quarters for spacers , the rest of us have to use nickels
haha is that why we now use pennies 😂
Your finished product looks good but I have to say, that is not shiplap in any way. Shiplap means there’s an overlap of the boards, kinda similar to tongue and groove.
To get rid of any thin pieces do the math and trim both top and bottom boards
To bad lowes and Home Depot are no longer cutting boards like this for you.

This isn't shiplap, this is just boards nailed to a wall.
They come in colors you don’t have to paint lol
Are these people for real. Ear protection for air nail guns. Oh brother.
Worked construction for 7 years, never once used ear protection for saws, nail guns etc.
@@uhvoid8433 and you're bragging about it?
@@lisao3041 No, I'm saying it's not necessary. I commented this a year ago. Hop off my d.
@@uhvoid8433 you realize TH-cam is forever.
No one wants your d. 😂
That's not shiplap... cmon now.
So many skipped steps! So you sanded after filling the holes? And I didn’t see the caulking part between primer and paint.
Uh, bottom up
A FLAKE with the wahoooooooooooooo .
she's so attractive. FFS.
how to install shiplap. DOESNT ACTUALLY INSTALL any SHIPLAP MATERIAL.
😂 hey, a couple of those were for sure hung by me.
I don't like how it looks.
I would recommend not putting it on your wall then 👍
The Mrs. is kind of annoying, Trying to hard…..Sorry
Had to stop watching.
Totally annoying. Should probably comment on it 😂
