    It would have been great if you'd shown the scopes. Without them it's quite hard to gauge where exactly your exposure falls objectively and thus makes it harder to immitate and learn from.

    What is the point of shooting in a bt.2020 format if it is always converted to rec.709? Many screens support P3, which is close to bt.2020, but all the videos end up in Rec.709.

    • @usernamehandle
      @usernamehandle 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Good question, I’ve been trying to figure this out to. It’s my understanding that these formats provide your footage with the greatest flexibility, before it becomes 709. It’s the same as shooting RAW vs JPEG. It’s like working with vanilla icecream as a base: you can turn vanilla into any flavor you want by adding to it. But if you start with chocolate or strawberry, you have less flexibility. These flat video profiles literally give you more possibilities as they have greater dynamic range, and the colors are more flexible to work with. Even though the footage will end up being 709, we have more power over how exactly it looks, because 709 is just less flexible.

    Why you do the primaries before the transform and then the rest of the color grade after that node instead of using the transform node as the last and work inside the SLog Color Space to take advantage of the dynamic range and the color gamut?

      Thank you so much for watching dude! Unfortunately I used to use premiere pro for color grading in the past and I couldn't achieve good results! And that was the reason why I switched to davinci and I'm pretty happy with it! 🙌❤️

    I have a Problem Using HLG3 Footage in Davinci. In Color Management setting Input: Rec.2020 & Rec.2100 HLG - Timeline: Rec.709 & Rec.709-A - Output: Rec.709 & Rec.709-A.
    My Footage looks great, no question. BUT. Everything else, like overlays (youtube subscripe popup background), titles, screenshots with white background (jpgs) etc. - the "white" color there, which is defined as hexcolor #ffffff is not "white" anymore but looks more like a washed out "grey" in the timeline, in quicktime and on youtube aswell. Heres a timestamp to an uploaded video of mine where you can see what I mean with the overlay: th-cam.com/video/ujQe0aOoLKA/w-d-xo.html
    I tried many things because of that problem, like putting a color space transform on the specific overlay - but that doesnt make it white again, at least I dont know the settings to do that. I also dont know the original color space that the overlay is made for to be honest, but in color space rec709 it looks properly white, so I guess its that one.
    Does anyone know a solution to this problem?
    I guess its happening because the Color Management settings are transforming those overlays into Rec.2020 & Rec.2100 HLG and there the whites are not white anymore? But Im not sure with that tbh. Please help me, I couldnt find any information regarding that anywhere and I guess Im not the only one using overlays and other stuff in my videos than HLG3 Footage :)

      Hi, I'm not exactly sure how you can tackle this problem because of color management in davinci! I myself colorgrade my videos in davinci and then export the videos and import them in premiere and continue to edit my final video there with graphic elements and all the other things.

    There are errors in your way also. I would change the title of this video to something else, maybe not assume you are right and everyone else is wrong. Do not underestimate other people. Just saying.

    • @MehranHadad
      @MehranHadad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not assume that everybody else is wrong! I said that if you are not converting the color space, you are not doing it the right way! Whatever method you want to use, do it but changing the color space is fundamental!

  • @AlvisChuiVisuals

    Just wondering is there any reason that you do the colour grade after the cst? What I learned from other places is that we do all the gradings before the cst. Thanks for the video tho🙌🏻

      The number of the PP9 is not actually important, you can set HLG3 on any of these picture profiles

    • @MehranHadad
      @MehranHadad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It might be possible to some levels, but you might not achieve the same flattering results as you get here, because it would be better to convert the color space so you get accurate colors
