As someone who rents cameras for film work, this is by far the most informative video I've seen on the Sony colour profiles. This explains everything I need to know but with tangible real world examples rather than a simple "Before/After" wipe most other tutorials keep showing us. Thank you so much!
Dude, I was giving up on those pictures profiles, until I found your video. Man..., the explanation I got from this video, and the way you showed us each of those PP settings what is doing, and how to set the in-camera grading is unbelievable. Well done, mate.
You know, this may be one of the greatest videos on TH-cam. So well-explained, I nearly gave up on this process, but kept at it, and now I've gotten a color look for my A-Roll that looks just as good, if not better, than how it typically looked in Da Vinci Resolve after hours of color grading. Now I have that color baked into my camera footage right off the SD card, saving me a ton of time in post. Even if I end up going back to color grading in the future, I learned a lot while following this video, so thank you.
I really appreciate the fact that you explained and showed how the sample of each parameters changed the outcome in a video. It is the most informative and helpful youtube videos I have searched and watched for two days. Thanks so much!!
This is one of the best tutorials on yt, hands down 👏👏 especially for a hobbyist like me. I haven’t done the whole color grading and luts thing yet, so getting a great look or film look sooc is amazing. Thank you so much, you the man💪💪
I don't think I have seen anyone explain Sony color profiles better than you. You are incredible with the knowledge you have and the way you communicate it to others. I am so glad to have subscribed to your channel, and am looking forward to your next videos. Bravo !!!!
I think that sometimes many of us have powerful equipment but sometimes we cannot understand how there are people who have the same camera and obtain impressive results, sometimes one thinks that everything is due to color correction but in this video you show us tools that can help your image look really professional and also cinematic, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
i have never seen such a kind of important tutorial for sony users they have been challenged to get the best look image from their gear...I have no words for you.I gave you 1 subscription for your expertise.
Technically He's not, adverts give TH-camrs a chance to make money and share their knowledge and everyone reps the benefits. Thank God for TH-cam and guys like this fellow, im not sure where id be without them. This is the information age for sure. @tubenoob thanks for the tut, very informative!
As an aspiring youtuber who wants more quality into their craft, this video helped me a lot! I'll definitely watch it a couple more times to understand it properly. Thanks!
I couldn't leave the page with out giving you a BIG THANK YOU . Though i am having a sony alpha camera for one year , i was not that clear about the picture profile . This video is the best one i seen in TH-cam . It feel very easy and simple. Thank you . 🙏🙏🙏😍😍
Man I just to tell you that I truly appreciate your videos and to thank you for the time you invest in spreading the knowledge. I might become a videographer after all, with my a6400
“Thank you so much for watching”? NO! Thank you very much for making this VERY USEFUL video! 🙏🏻 I was between the a6100 and the a6400 but with this all tricks I will go with the a6400 without doubt. You have a new subscriber! Thank you!
Thanks, first video I have seen explaining every setting what they do, not just a video when someone just tells you all the numbers without explaining why och what they are doing. This was a helpfull video.
Depends on the light and the structures and hues and all that, but I usually end up around -10ish.....really depends on the time of day....generally lower looks better, with exceptions:)
I'm a noob in Sony PP and was searching for quick explanation for it. Came across your video and it's explained in a simple way. It's really usefull for ppl who don't have time to color grade and really hate those clipping in their footage. Thanks for helping.
Ok so I apparently started watching your video before and it was showing the red where I stopped... had to be in the middle of the night I'm sure of it HHAHAHA. I'm re-watching this awesome video and it gave me light!!! LITERALLY!!! Thanks for this awesome super detailed video man! This hit my saves quick!
So glad I found your channel, no nonsense real life knowledge on Sony Alpha optimizations. Appreciate it big time, wish TH-cam send me the link earlier as I saw too many other videos that left me clueless but you break things down so digestible. Subscribed and liked
Thanks for asking:) I am fine, my family is fine as well. I just had to hustle for work, because of corona. And since YT isn't paying nearly enough, I had to make eerything about the bottom line these last couple of months....how are you?
Outstanding video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge here on TH-cam! I could finally have a good understanding on how to set my Sony color profiles. You did a *Really* good job here 👍
honestly..i loved the video..i was so much confused between canon R6 and A7iv ..i want the dynamic range of sony but want canon colours..i knew there were a lot of customisation but i watched hundreds of vids but never got what i exactly wanted..and out of nowhere yt suggested me this video and boom we can get exact canon colours just by playing with the settings...amazing
Thank you so much!!! I have been struggling with the picture profiles since I just switch from Canon to Sony lol. Thanks again for sharing this great content!
I have learned quite a bit just by viewing a couple of your posts. What you are sharing is valuable and I appreciate that you are sharing this to the public. It also helps that the information applies to the camera line that I own. You are definitely exposing the capabilities of the Sony A6400. Thank you for all that you are sharing.
My jaw is on the floor..This is absolutely mind-blowing, the dynamic range and the way the highlights are saved looks extremely cinematic right out of camera. I'm curious what lens did you use for these shots? I cant wait to try this on my 6400!
Can’t describe, how much I appreciate this video!! I used your settings and now my A6300 footage looks so much better! I can even add luts at 50-70% intensity, desaturate the video in post, and I swear, it mimics 10 bit footage. With 8 bit video, you cannot use base slog2 settings, because if you add color in post, you get massive color noise and image does break apart. So your settings are an absolute must. In my experience, never hurts to desaturate the image in post with 8 bit, if you want to use luts.
Man, these are just what I was looking for. I watched 3 of your videos and I am amazed. You keep it simple, yet detailed. I understand everything you are talking about. You are the best TH-camr talking about filmmaking I have ever seen! I have only one question. What about S-log3? In your "SONY A6400 FILMMAKING TUTORIAL" video you said it's best for highlights clipping and in this video, I didn't hear anything about S-log 3. Or did I missed it?
That is correct, I am simply shooting HLG now, because with LOG and 8 bit for the stuff I do with the 6400 now, B-Cm to my A7III, the colors just don't match up.
Thanks so much for posting this instructional video. I remember you from a previous video in which you logically and thoroughly explained how impressive is the performance of the Sony ASPC camera compared to full frame cameras. I'll be carefully going over this video because I plan on starting to shoot small documentaries with the Sony a6600 while I travel internationally. Thanks!!!
Thank you for this video, my mom has such high expectation of this camera and I've been suffering making videos for her vlog. She keeps telling me I dissapoint her because the colors and lighting is not automatic straight of the camera good like her go pro 8
Jesus, tell you mom to give you a break here:) It is work to make something look good. A really wuick solution is to set tthe picture profile to "Movie" and the color to "Movie" as well. then go to maybe -5 on the black level. That should give you vibrant colors and good skin tones. Not as much dynamic range, but it should mix well with gopro footage. Hope that helps you out a little. Greetings!
What a fantastic tutorial! Thank you! I shot in dLog, DNG and RAW - not sure if my equipment allows to adjust all those parameters, but I will definitely create my dedicated profiles for night and low light as well as sky shots

This has been THE BEST VIDEO I have seen to explain, when and how to use the picture profiles for Sony. Excellent job!
You know, this may be one of the greatest videos on TH-cam. *standing ovation* This really helps to get rid of my fear of playing with all those settings!
Best A7C video profile picture setting tutorial ever !
