i liked how you noticed that how many TH-camrs aren't showing so many details on their videos but one thing no one has ever did is sharing the footage they are working on so we as beginner can follow the process either ways the video is hundred percent helpful, thanks Dunna
At first, I thought this was just going to be another tutorial showing the same thing over and over again but man was I wrong. Thanks for this great in-depth tutorial. Learned some REALLY useful stuff that I will be applying every day!
Mr.Dunna.. I am a Vibrant Grandma on a steep learning curve. YOU, SIR, are the easiest teacher to listen to ! I have been in deep dive mode for many hours. You explain clearly with clarification on the little details where one could easily get totally lost! Please send me a link to your videos. I wouldn't want to miss one. My grand kids are waiting for my inspiration. I must get into production. I love this! Momma Eve
That’s so great to hear! The best way to make sure that you don’t miss any videos is to subscribe to the channel and hit the little bell button to make sure that you get all notifications. Then TH-cam will let you know when I upload!
I’ve been searching for almost 3 month to learn davinci resolve and color grading thank god i found your YT. Moreover you explained it in easy way to understand and all of the question in my head are answered in this video. It’s really help me out! Thank you! God bless you!!
Finally someone that shows the actual process that a colorist has to go though when grading an entire scene! Most people on TH-cam only put a nice grade on one single clip and call it a day.... I would suggest to get the look in place before balancing out the shots so you don't get to do everything twice if one of the shots fail to match with the desired look.
Glad to hear you liked it! I totally hear you on the look. I go back and forth on this. It's tough to get the look without a balanced shot but it's tough to do the balance without a look haha. Often now, I'll balance out one shot, create a look and apply to everything and then balance the rest underneath the look.
Excellent. This is EXACTLY what I was trying to teach myself today but not very well or complete. This is a fantastic end-to-end flow that I desperately needed. Now I’ll redo the work I did today to see what differences can be made. Simply awesome. Thank you!
Finally a great grading tutorial that I will be watching again again while practicing. I was so pissed that all the other tutorials calling it 'simple' and then proceed to make an ER diagram of 16 nodes.
@@dunnadidit - therre are some buttons and features i didnt even know existed and i've used this program for years- someone said it- this is a true masterclass do one with vignettes and object tracking
Man, I'm a beginner video editor, and when I say beginner I mean I haven't ever gotten further into it than cutting parts out and speeding up/slowing down video. Color grading has always been super intimidating to me because I had no understanding of it. I recently learned of DaVinci Resolve (previously used Premiere which is very busy and intimidating) and how it makes color grading more simple. This was such a killer video to watch and learn the basics of color grading. I've been shooting a lot lately with my new DJI Mini 3 Pro drone and the footage looks stunning after using your color grading tips and correcting the drone footage. Thank you for this tutorial, it's freaking amazing. I feel like my color grading knowledge went from 0-100 in 44 minutes.
Incredible video. This is a master class that simplifies daunting concepts into digestible chunks which easily apply to many scenarios. Instant add to the favorites and will be re-watching many times! Thank you for taking the time to create this tutorial, Dunna!
This is pure gold. Not only do you explain things in an easy to understand way, but you also go into your thought process on why you do what you do in a useful step by step way. I can't thank you enough!
When I started I have not been using S-log with my clips because of how dull it was and just color grade with what works. You convinced me to start shooting in S-logs and I am quite new to the color grading aspect of it, your videos really help out alot its easy to understand the process and is well detailed, Thank you.
after switching to davinci and exploring color tools a bit I am so happy I came across this video, helped me organise my knowledge and put it to work. THANK YOU!
woow, this must be the most wholesome color grading tutorial i have seen! so many just regurgitate the same basic rules of "make the scopes looke like this because that is correct" like you should follow that blindly, and not consider what you are actually looking at, and what you are matching it with and trying to achieve. even in the same scene, some clips will be of darker things or bluer things or something, so it always felt so naive to me to think the scopes should look the same. I have also had some understanding of the difference between color correction and grading, but this really showed a perfect practical example with the fast changing light during golden hour, and how to adjust for it and which parts of the scopes you should actually care about and not, and when to use your eyes and mind and creativity! 10/10! :D
Yo thankyou so much for this tutorial finally i found the real tutorial about Colour Grading. After keeping figuring out many months how to colour grade because other video always keep showing the same tutorial without how to do it corectly. Thankyou so much Appricate your work!
I sat down expecting to find this video to be like every other color grading video. However, I watched all the way through because your process is so simple and easy to understand, but accomplishes a lot. I went back to my project after watching the video and was able to get the exact look I was going for using your tips. Thank you SO much!

I’ve literally done one video in Resolve. Even though I didn’t know about many aspects of colour grading in Resolve, I wasn’t overwhelmed by technical speak. This has given me the Confidence to move forward. If you want to see my hatchet job, it’s the only video on my channel so far - less than one minute long.
hey dude! I think you've got a great way of explaining things and really appreciated you explaining the keyboard shortcuts you used and what different buttons do, as a beginner/intermediate I found out new thinks. Also great workflow!
Ok, im working hard and motivated to get new looks and nice color palettes, but your overall workflow was good to review and I learned a lot again. Thanks
Very good tutorial , thanks! Probably I would discover this but it would take me -(by trial and error) about a year ... Good there are some experiance people who share their knowladge.

Dude! It was awesome to meet you out on Dallas. Definitely didn’t feel awkward at all. So glad that my videos are helpful for you, let me know if there’s ever anything you want to see me cover!
@@dunnadidit Thanks man. I am getting decent at editing colours and your LUTs will go a long way. Thanks for making them work with Rec709 footage. I think my videos would be more professional with better sound design. I liked your last hack on counting music. Would really love to see some more music and sound design tutorials or hacks. Thanks
That’s great to hear! I’ll definitely keep the sound design idea in mind!
Well, I just learned a ton - feels like a few hours of training packed into a shorter very well explained tutorial. Thank you!
Just about to make the switch from Premiere to Resolve so this is perfect timing. Fantastic vid with a good walkthrough of the workflow!
Thanks so much for the kind words! I’m glad it was helpful!
Thank you thank you!! I have been so scared of the colour page (so many options and controls I didn't know where to start!!) and with this one video you have made it less daunting! I can't wait to get started!!
This was very educational, thanks for taking the time to break it down. Now just to go out there and get the right shots to be able to try it myself!
your vision is working i've been soo confuse with the other ones
Thank you for giving one complete illustration, learning a lot from you.😃😃
This video was so well done man! Learned so much, I’m planning to switching to Davinci from FCPX but what you showed is easy enough to implement in any NRE! Thank You
Cheers!!
First off, I really appreciated your Grease joke.Ooh, ooh, ooh 😂. Watched the whole video, great stuff, especially because I want to start learning DaVinci. Other videos make the node tree too complex and intimidating. I appreciated seeing how much can be done with a simpler node tree.
Cheers!!
