I'm glad my settings helped
THANK YOU Steve! I tried so hard to only do with the Pimax’s OpenXR guide and the resolution override is the last thing that helped and the only thing not mentioned in their guide 😅
This headset is going to be pre order status forever I fear.
@@RobertGeez exactly. The specs of this headset are impressive no doubt, but the lack of clear availability is what made me cancel my recent preorder. If you order today it likely will take 8+ months to actually get it. Too much ambiguity around the manufacturing timelines.
Welcome to MSFS2020 Vr. Your emotional reaction is like Steve’s genuine so welcome to our VR flying world. You made a great video I enjoyed watching with a smile. Have the best weekend
Haha thank you!
Sis! Those NAILS! They're AWESOME!
Also, and as usual, excellent video; I really appreciate your clear explanations, and that you often seem to mention important info that no other VR TH-camr's do.
I especially appreciate that you mentioned the "rocket sciencey" nature of setting up some PCVR games, because it's something that's rarely mentioned. That can make all the difference between helping newer users move from being VR enjoyers to being VR enthusiasts--versus becoming VR avoiders.
Though I'm still very much on the fence about the Crystal, considering its cost and complications, I'm very much looking forward to seeing what else you'll be doing with it to make using it easier for users.
haha thank you! Yes I always try to take the newbie perspective because my goal is to get as many people into VR as I can, and not just to serve the small niche of existing VR enthusiasts. That's why I pay this extra attention to set up and UI and ease of use. Pimax headsets have never been easy to use, and I hope that we can push them more in the right direction because this is truly amazing quality that I hope will soon be easier to unlock for VR beginners!
I put in a preorder in November and could order one now, but I’m going to wait until you are satisfied they have fixed the myriad software issues. For the money being charged it shouldn’t require a scavenger hunt to get it to run on something less than a 4090. You are doing the PC VR comunity a great service, thanks so much for you honest assessment of what could be a groundbreaking headset!
These settings have made the game actually work properly for me on a 4070ti! Thanks so much I thought i was gonna just have to live with a low res stuttering mess until they released some software updates or something
This video just made me order a crystal light. Nice to see the genuine joy on your face when the problem was resolved! Hoping the streamlined light will run like a dream on my 6900xt
I can only imagine how amazing this game is in VR. The reason I bought my Series X was for MSFS2020, as I mainly game on PS. Microsoft Flight Sim is incredible on flat screen, it must be insane in VR. Ace combat on PSVR1 blew my mind, but that was only a small part of the full game
yes it is amazing in VR :)
Awesome video! Thanks a lot 👍👍 Love from Norway ♥♥♥
Thanks Tetiana for a great video. As 90% of my VR time is in MSFS and an owner of a 3090ti (13700K), this video has just added to my anticipation of getting my pre-ordered Crystal (should be about 2 more weeks). I had checked with Pimax before ordering regarding the video card as I has heard there were issues and they responded quickly with the advise for the dport repeater which was easy to get from Amazon. Absolutely fantastic settings guide.
Thank you! I’m glad you’ve found it helpful , and hope you’ll enjoy your Crystal when you receive it.
Good girl so happy you sorted it out, enjoy!! I'm waiting for the Primax Light to arrive yeah!!
Outstanding!!!😅 Thanks for sharing your experience!
Nice, although personally I am waiting for the next gen smaller/lighter headsets like the Quest 3, or Big screen beyond, before splashing out on another headset. Keep up the good work.
@@adrenalinejunkie3828having used both of them in the last week, trust me when I say this, there is no was the crystal is worth £1000 more than the quest 3. And if crystal is the next gen, we have a LONG way to go.
Great Video Tetiana!!. Even if I don't have the pimax crytal (yet), It will be very useful with my Quest 2 and my RTX3080, so thank you very much!!! I consider the GPU ram is very important as well, sadly the performance window you showed in the video did not show the GPU ram allocation. Anyway, excelent job you VR lover.
Thank you! Ah yeah I'll remember for the future. The in-game MSFS settings alone can be very helpful! (listed in the description)
Thank you for your efforts 👍🏼 that will help many.
Thanks for watching as always!
I just love your videos. I get caught up in your excitement. It's good to see what can be done with affordable systems, and to see the progress in VR in general. Thank you for your time and experimenting with the settings. It shows what can be possible if you just take a little time to get the job done. Wishing you all the best!
Now we only have to wait 5 years to have proper gpu for such quality.
Thank you for this information..and good to see how bright and happy you are,, I guess that's how it is especially when you have a baby on the way..good for you
Thanks for the video!
Another tip to maximize clarity in MSFS in VR is to max out the PC (not VR) "Render scaling" setting at 200%. You wouldn't expect that to affect clarity in VR, but it does do so without much of a hit to performance.
To clarify, you want your GPU utilization to be at 100%. If it's lower, it means you're either leaving performance on the table, you're CPU is a bottle neck - not working fast enough for the GPU, or the game/application just isn't very demanding.
In MSFS, I have my settings cranked a good bit higher, but even my overclocked 13900K and overclocked RTX4090 struggle in large cities. I've got everything pretty much maxed and am supersampling the resolution for my Index.
Thanks for this video on your setup of the PIMAX Crystal. I do not have a PIMAX product nor do the Flight SIM games. I do many SIM racing games instead. I have a RTX-3080TI GFX card so I would probably run into the same issues and need the same setup you did in the video.
I might get a PIMAX "Crystal lite" VR headset in the future which is with no battery or Eye Tracking - and cost is allot cheaper - 699.00 dollars. I don't need battery or eye tracking to do SIM racing games.
I will wait till I see video reviews of the newer Crystal Lite and then see if I really need this. I know it would be a great headset. Right now I have the Quest 3, it too works very well and nice clear optics.
Lastly - this is no complaint, but I had a hard time understanding what you were saying/doing with your accent, so I had to rewind the video in several spots to understand what you were changing in the PIMAX tools and what made the headset work well. But in the end, I see completely what you did. Not your fault.
Thanks again and take care.
I got an 8KX recently and no connection with the DP-port of my 4080 until I disabled the internal graphics of my i5 in the BIOS. After that I never had any connection issues with the DP-port, so it might be a trick for the Crystal as well. But I'm having trouble in MSFS with OpenXR. The picture is jittering and only switching to SteamVR (still OpenXR, but with Steam) solves this issue, but the clarity is better with OpenXR if I don't move my head. The true quality-slider for the 8KX is the render-quality-slider in PiTools. With the default 1.0 it looks more like 1440p and just with 1.25 or above it's getting sharp as expected. You don't need 1.25 with the Crystal, but the principle is probably similar and you can convert this headset into a Valve Index like headset if going down to 0.5. The pixel-ratio displayed in OpenXR or SteamVR is not the true native resolution, but just how much they blow it up.
Thank you Disco-VR beautiful video, I'm really thinking about buying this headset, currently own a G2 and I own a 4090. I noticed you had fixed foveated rendering on both the Pimax software and OpenXR Toolkit, was that intentional, thank you again!
yeah so I added an overlay saying that only one should be enabled, not both! So I later disabled the one in the Pimax Client. Good catch! Yeah better to only keep the OpenXR one
@@DiscoVRTetiana thanks Disco-VR love the videos. I want to absorb much information about the Crystal, it's a very interesting headset. Take care and have a nice weekend.
In OpenXR toolkit configuration you should set:
Upscaling to: FSR
even if you have 3080 and NIS is from nvidia and FSR is from amd, FRS works better on nvidia.
@12:00 I nearly cried too - because I'm stuck with just an RTX3060 and I want this fidelity and performance!!!! 😜
Hi Tetiana, in this Video as well as your Pimax Review Video you are saying that your GPU is "overclocking" because it runs at 99-100%. Its NOT overclocking! Overclocking means something different. And its also good that it runs like this. It shows that nothing else is bottlenecking your GPU and it can deliver the best FPS its capable of.
Hey Tetiana! Great video. Thanks for such a clear and well-structured guide for using Open XR 👌 Loved seeing your reaction after using the Override Resolution 😍 Truly heart-warming.
BTW, what CPU are you using and which 3080 (presumably 10GB VRAM) ???
Yes Tatiana, it was helpful video. I play only sim racing Assetto Corsa, will try to reduce resolution there where you showed. Automobilista 2 does require to reduce resolution I think. I have 7900xtx and some 7800x3D CPU. I think on beta firmware pimax has openxr included inside.
This is very helpful. You've done a wonderful job at explaining the additional apps functions. I currently have the 8KX (working very well). The Crystal is tempting but I'm spoiled and want the crystal definition with FOV of the 8KX or better. The 12K is my interest but it seems to have been put in the backburner. What a shame. Guess I'll be waiting. In the meantime I'll use this lit video to tweak my DCS.
Youre excitement is great
Next crystal video, please include your testing of the DP repeater you mentioned. I will be needing to use one. Will it create any noticeable lag ? Will it work at all ? Any disconnection issues ? Brand you are using, etc. Thank you for this great video !
Great vid. Super informative 👍
Thank you! 💜
Your reaction when you finally got it up and running properly was absolutely beautiful. That is exactly what VR gaming is all about and I cannot wait to have this exact experience when I play the walking dead saints and sinners for the first time with this level of clarity 😅
I kept the resolution per eye in openXR to default and instead put DLSS with ultra performance mode on in the sim and for me it looks way better this way. DLSS works awesome when you feed it lots of information. I get 45fps with high settings
In regards to your connection issues with the display ports (dp), im pretty shure your gpu is set up like mine so that it has 1x dp & 1x hdmi permanent as well additionally either 2x dp or 2x hdmi. This means that if you already have something plugged into one of the 2x optional hdmi ports the corresponding 2x dp ports will be disabled. That would explain why the cystal works only on one of the 3 x dp ports which are phisically located on your gpu (but not logically enabled). I hope this clears up some of your confusion.
I’d like to know more about the wider FoV lenses and faceplate, appreciate that PiMax probably haven’t seen those out yet but imho they are essential to get anywhere close to the advertised specs
That 5090 sure is gonna come in handy.
Great Great Video !!!! Thank you very much !
Enjoyed it, even i dont own a Crystal
Great stuff. What do you think of the heaviness now you've used it for a while?
Good grief. The guys at Big Screen just had a heart attack.😅
I plan to use a mixed vr set in my Full-scale F16 simulator cockpit, but Pimax did not yet convinced me
In fairness, anyone using MSFS spends a week fiddling with settings before achieving the experience they're willing to settle for.
Much appreciated this tutorial. I just need a cup of coffee, Pimax leads me to how to get the beans from Brazil and how to make it and also can not use cup, should be a bottle. 😢
Nice and usefull video. If you listen carefully and read the numbers you see that Pimax with 3080 has too many compromises. It can work but it is not how it has to be. In MSFS render resolution 80% and again in OpenXRToolkit 81% ( at the end cca. 1872x2236 ) and foveted 75%..... How readabe are instruments in glass cockpit ? If you can accept this compromises OK, but I thing without 4080/4090 you will not enjoy in flight as is imagined. Bundle of software and configuration is not big problem for me if result is as it has to be.
Great Video..... I was going to purchase the pimax crystal, but after watching videos on setting this up, i would get so frustrated... these companies should see if a group of non tech people on different computers can set this up first before introducing to the world. I will wait for a plug and play unit to enter the market. They need to hook up with a AI so it can automatically figure out what the hell is going on. Thanks Phillip
This much farting about reminds me of my 3dfx Voodoo card, back in the day - fun times, multiple bits of software. Try, fiddle, try again. Cutting-edge, while at the same time being home-brew. Such fun!
aha, so playing MSFS was never about tweaking, ever....
Great video, can you do a video comparing this headset to other headsets, in terms of visuals and fov etc.
Hey! Well this is a high end headset that visually cannot even be compared to more budget headsets like Quest 2. It's in a different league! The closest one to this clarity is Varjo Aero, but I believe Crystal offers even better visuals, largely due to a bigger FOV and local dimming (talk about it in this video - th-cam.com/video/2A7FRdpvTwk/w-d-xo.html ) and I also offer a much more detailed comparison of Pimax Crystal to other headsets like PSVR2 in this video - th-cam.com/video/3iJ8bSFX6bA/w-d-xo.html
Nice, maybe a test like this should be around a big city
I ran MSFS on a 3060 laptop with i7, I was getting between 30-60 for the first 20 mins but then my computer would slowly die and frames would drop gradually down to 0. I've tried with Xplane 11 which runs great with Meta Quest 2. I suspect a better or equal spec desktop pc would benefit due to the overheating issue of a laptop
Hi Tetiana, thanks a lot for all of your work bringing us the latest info on various products. We can see your passion (and frustration at times! lol!) and it saves us a lot of work on our side. Could you please point us to the How to run OPENXR tutorial that Pimax has released? Can't find it on their website. Thanks!
Hey! They only have a written guide linked in the description, but I go over how to use it in this video! Is there something specific about OpenXR tools you'd like to know?
@@DiscoVRTetiana Great, thanks! I am using a HP Reverb right now (have not received my Crystal, which I've ordered in November). I'm wondering if the OpenXR tools could help me with this headset as well in getting better performance. Thanks!
@@francoisgagnon4467 ah I see, yep as far as I know they provided only the guide for the Pimax headsets, but I'm sure you can take advantage of it for your G2! Play around with it, sadly I don't own that headset and can't guide you, but I'd imagine many of the principles should be quite similar
@@DiscoVRTetiana I'm an IT guy myself, I'll find my way around! But thanks, it's helpful that you are pointing me in the right direction!
Thanks for the vid. The Crystal’s native resolution is 2880x2880 per eye. When you changed the resolution, you were still over 100% SuperSampling. Shouldn’t the tests be @ native resolution? I’m thinking you should be seeing even more performance.
Super video, thank you very much for this. Do you have the possibility to test iRacing with your 3080 or even 3090Ti? Greetings from Germany 😀
Lowering refresh rate in VR won't make any difference as long as your frame rate is still lower. IE, if you were getting about 60FPS then that is approx 60hz so you are no where near 90 or 120.
This video has lots of good info though. I run MSFS on an RTX3070 with a Quest 2 right now and I am constantly seeking tweaks to get a little more performance out of it without having to sacrifice appearance much.
I'm tempted, as I own a 3090, but my doubt is if my cpu could handle it (i7-7700k); it handles well with my G2 (I even use motion reprojection for the best performance with max graphics, I don't know if I could still be able to use it via steam or if the Pimax software includes its own method). I see the real demanding with Crystal is gpu at 100% and cpu not reaching 60%, and counting too with the future foveated rendering gives me hope. Otherwise I would need to invest a lot, because new cpu means new motherboard and maybe new ram.
I feel the same about my rig. I have a 3080 and i9 gaming laptop. G2 worked until it broke. Think it’s worth a go with the Pymax with this set up? Thanks!
How’s inside out tracking? On par with Quest 2? Batteries longevity on controllers?
Would love for you to try either Resident evil 2 remake or RE4 remake in VR using Praydog's VR mod.
@9:22 - @9:29 should be the intro to this video :)
hi disco what cpu u running with that 3080 keep up the good work
And it still performs better than RE4R in VR with mods 💀💀💀
Awww Nice
It runs well on my 3070TI, I bet a larger card would be fine.
I'm surprised changing the render quality in pitool didn't affect the output resolution.
Thank you for the review Tetiana; would you recommend the PIMAX Crystal as a first VR headset?
First VR headset? I’m afraid no… the complexity of it might be too overwhelming I’m afraid. I’d recommend something more of a plug-and-play nature, or completely stand-alone as your first experience. For budget, it’s Quest 2, for amazing quality it’s PSVR2
@@DiscoVRTetiana Thanks for your reply. I also have an RTX 3080. What CPU are you using?
Nice vid, might have to get MSFS!
but lol - id love to know why the resolution sent to the headset by default was not native resolution ..
we do scaling internally on the GPU - upsampling for quality, downsampling for performance.
we send the headset it's real res signal.
i mean nobody tries to run flat screen 4k displays at 6k, right?
ah what do i know, there's no room for logic in VR 🤪🤪
Thanks for the start up guide Tetiana!
Did Pimax mention higher refresh rate coming? They advertise 144 and 160hz.
I almost want to get back into pcvr. But then the ease of just whacking Quest on without any effort at all makes me see sense.
you do realize that this hassle is just the initial setup? The "everyday" use is much simpler, just turn on the headset, put it on and start the game...
@@madigorfkgoogle9349 Of course. I did PCVR for quite a few years before Quest was released. This just reminds me of how much tinkering is involved and I don't care much for going back to those days despite the quality bump. It's never "just turn it on and it works". One day it may work, the next day it doesn't. An update may break things, or drivers need to be reinstalled, or game settings need to be constantly adjusted for every different game, or you end up needing to buy a new GPU and spend another thousand. It's never ending.
@@pixxelpusher well, but this is the nature of the games we are talking about, not PCVR. Dont remember when the using Microsoft flight simulator or any simulator was without any of these issues. Five years ago we could barely play DCS in 1440p on flatscreen, certainly not without tweaking, and many nvidia updates did in fact worsen the experience so we had to roll back...
As you describe, never ending...
But games like Half Lifa Alyx was without any trouble since day one, it is not very system taxing VR application, same as those vastly outdated games on Quest...
Does the headset drift away from center when playing a game. If so how long does it take to drift away and how much does it drift?
Oh my goodness. It looks so heavy on your head. Who knew you were so strong and powerful!?
Randomly discoverd your channel and watched this video. And then subbed :)
Seeing your joyfull/emotional reaction when you were flying after you got the settings right makes me wonder even more which way to go; TrackIR or VR. I thought i was gonna go with TrackIR, but now i'm not sure anymore.
I tried the original Oculus Rift years ago (with DCS) in combination with an underpowerd PC and the immersion was great, but the resolution was too low and my PC couldn't really handle it.
So alltogether it wasn't great.
Now after a long brake with flight sims i purchased MSFS 2020 and i'm instantly hooked again :)
I played quite a bit of FSX back in the day.
After trying FaceTrackNoIR with my webcam i liked it, and now i'm thinking about getting the better/more expensive version; TrackIR.
But maybe i should just save up more money and wait longer, and then go for VR.
Problem is that for VR i'm definitely gonna need a new GPU (2060 Super now), but i don't like how things are at the moment with the whole GPU market and Nvidia being Ngreedia with the whole VRAM thing.
I want a Nvidia GPU with at least 16GB of VRAM, which outperforms a 3080 (by quite some margin), for a reasonable price (€ 800 ish).
But for now i'm already enjoying myself playing MSFS on a monitor, and started making cinematic videos as well, which i also enjoyed. Just released my first video by the way, if your're interested you can find it here: th-cam.com/video/hGBHcr0ByXY/w-d-xo.html
the answer is more or less simple. I have sold my TrackIR after about half a year after I got Reverb G2 since I never again used it.
But there are some points that might be worth considering for you.
First of all, if you are caring about being competitive (win the dogfights) then TrackIR enables some "cheating" to achieve it. The VR headset is more like real life, in TrackIR you dont have to swivel your head "out of your neck", to check your six it takes just to move your head about 20 deg to right/left, in VR you have to do a lot of gymnastics to look behind you (same as in RL). Second "cheating" for TrackIR is the ability to zoom out to wide aspect ratio, so you can track your surrounding easier without even moving your head at all, you cant do that in VR.
Also you wrote that you are streaming your flights, it is better for you to do so using TrackIR, first in VR every slight movement you dont even notice is translated into the clip, second while streaming it is very convenient to be able to see your keyboard, second monitor with chat and/or some OBS switcher if you use it. Its much harder to do so with VR...
But then again, the immersion factor in VR is so huge when compared to flat. I cant go back... If you fly warbirds then you can get some edge with VR, I find a deflection shooting is so much easier and even ground targets strafing/bombing is much easier due to better distance/speed judgment in VR. For simple flying (like MSFS) the VR is much better, you actually sit inside the cockpit and the speed and distance judging is day and night better then flat screen.
The 2060S is not enough for flight sims in VR, sorry. I have RTX3090 what I feel is a minimum for IL-2 and DCS (I dont have MSFS). And yes, I would aim for 16GB VRAM as a minimum.
If you liked the FaceTrackNoIR, then dont get the TrackIR, just get a very fast camera with decent resolution. TrackIR is way overpriced now days.
Are you a convert to MSFS in VR? It is by far my favourite VR experience.
Great video! I preordered it but I'm on the fence. I'm not sure if I should buy it now or wait a few more months to see if they make any additional hardware changes! Also, I'm curious how it performs with FPS like Contracter$. I heard the controllers are not that accurate!
I wouldn't get this for shooters, too heavy. Forget about the tracking (you can get the SteamVR faceplate if it's really unacceptable), shooters require a lot of quick head movements and this will not work for you unless you duct tape it to your head.
@@r448191 I was kinda hoping it could be used for more than a flight sim device. So that's why I asked about FPS games.
Its a unit alright... a Big unit.
I wanted to see this review so bad... One tip -- you can output openxr's buffer directly into OBS -- th-cam.com/video/5U_9Q-enJ_o/w-d-xo.html . This will avoid the lag of the "mirroring" apps, and it will give the audience the taste of that you're seeing with your glasses ,in 2d ofc. One question , what version of nvidia drivers did you use? it seems that any version POST 531.29 are causing issues to some people using VR. You may want to rollback to that specific version and test from there.. maybe you even get a smoother experience. Cheers!!!!!
I won't touch a Pimax until they make their software less complicated.
Amazing..it looks just like sunglass
Hi Tetiana. I have a question about the Crystal that I cannot find an answer to, and I am wondering if you know. They say the stand-alone mode does not work yet. So I understand you cannot use it unless connected to a PC. However there is another mode that I am not hearing anything about, and it's the WIFI mode. That is, the headset connects wirelessly to the PC and the PC provides the power. Is this mode working at all? Or nothing wireless at all yet? Did they say anything about how long this might be? Thanks so much... and sorry, I know you are not the Pimax Tech Support....
Hey, yes they are working on the WiGIG module, but I think it’s even further down the line than the stand alone mode and eye tracking… sadly many features that were initially promised will no be delivered immediately when you get the device, but they will be gradually added. I don’t know about the timeline, but I know it’s still in the works, meaning they haven’t abandoned the development of this Wi-Fi module. Patience!
@@DiscoVRTetiana Thanks a lot for your answer and for your reviews. They are very useful, truly.
Наверное я не спец, но apple должны были представить нам что-то подобное. Интересно на видеокарте rtx 2060 вообще что-то пойдёт на этом шлеме? Спасибо
Hey guys , does anyone owns this headset? How does the resolution looks? Can you read the glass screens without having to lean on it? With the 8k resolution , it should look crisp!
I've had a weird issue with the image stuttering slightly, like a double image every couple of seconds, when turning my head. I have a 4090 with a 7800x3d cpu and it happens in Steam Home even. Anyone else have this issue??
but can the pimax crystal do other games such as sports/adventure well?
If u could only have one headset, would it be Varjo or the Crystal???
Crystal 👍
I have a 2080 and thus I hope I can use the Crystal or else I'll have a reason to first get a new PSU and then a new GPU. 😅
2080 still slaps, plus Nvidia did a bad job with the 40 series (up to the 80 class cards). so much of a bad job that ill consider AMD next upgrade but if you do got with the 40 series the 4090 is the only card that they really tried to improve, and the 30 series is great overall but out of stock when it was the latest and probably still is.
@Shrek the ogrelord Thanks for the insight and helpful suggestions. I was already considering going for at least a 50-series... 5080, probably. Looking at the pathtracing performance of even the 4090 in Cyberpunk, but also the VR performance with the Crystal, I think waiting a little for the next series is probably the more logical choice. Especially as a performance jump.
Personally, I mainly do ETS2/ATS, iRacing, pCARS2, AC, and ACC in VR. So, they are not the most demanding VR games. Thus, I am hoping I can get away with it, even if I have to lower the graphics a little.
@@LogiForce86 well, Im sorry but it will not be enough. If you would play FPS games like Half Life Alyx, then yes. But you are planning to play games with fast moving environment. I bet you cant play your games on flat screen at desired details at 4k resolution and 90fps, and the VR is even more demanding, while 60fps is fine on flat, in VR in a race car 60fps is already causing nausea to many people.
I feel the RTX3090 level of card is the minimum for good experience in VR while playing simulation games, in FPS you can get away with lower.
@@madigorfkgoogle9349 I cannot test that as the 20-series only can do 4k@60hz over HDMI 2.0, even though I have an LG OLED G2 which does 4k@120hz over HDMI 2.1.
I'll see where the performance falls, and if it is really bad... the more reason I have to quickly save up for a new card.
@@LogiForce86 does your monitor have a DP? DP is not that restricted.
Honestly you're asking for a lot. You will have the same hoops to run through with any PCVR headset with a high resolution. The problem is not Pimax, the problem is the immaturity of the PCVR ecosystem. If you don't feel like dealing with that, stick with PSVR. Headsets like the Aero or even the Reverb G2 also require a lot of tinkering. That's not to say Pimax headsets have not had soft- and firmware problems, but this experience right here is just "I have to f around with a bunch of 3rd party tools and settings to make things work properly and somehow that's pimax's fault". You can just as easily point your finger at Microsoft for not making MSFS support OpenXR natively. Or Steam/Valve for auto-detecting what headset you're using. Etc etc. High-end PCVR is messy right now. That's just the way it is, if you're not a tinkerer, you won't have a good time.
What are you talking about? MSFS has supported OpenXR natively since day 1....
You're right, I forgot about that. Why is she messing with OpenComposite then?
More to my original comment, supporting the OpenXR API is one thing, the whole experience is still nowhere near as low friction as standalone, console, or even pancake gaming, and that is just the way it is right now. I don't see that changing any time soon, but if it does, it won't be Pimax, or Samsung, or HTC, that will be doing it. It will be people like you, people at Valve, etc.
people says you get more frames with the crystal than a HP Reverb G2 and i ren the G2 with a 1080ti just fine is non Sim games.
i heard the exact different story. that the pimax runs so bad. some people compared the aero and the crystal, both have almost the same resolution and the pimax had 20% less fps then the crystal
can you help me i tried to order a pimax crystal on the web site went through the proccess of filling in and it askes for EU VAT i dont have that says optional but i tryed to pay with pay pal and it never goes through to the part were it says order processes just sends me the money back with in few our
I have an RTX 3080Ti as well. Sorry, no VR so far.
if choppy turn the resolution down......
What joystick model do you use?
@Disco-VR
considering that MSFS is extremely demanding of the GPU, I think it's not the greatest example.
Perhaps you can try some other games?
like
Half life Alyx?
Boneworks
Fallout 4
No Man’s Sky
Subnautica
I personally play Pavlov VR the most, and I'm hoping this headset would be THE upgrade from a Quest 2.
But I need to figure out if I can get 90-120 fps on a 3080 with this headset.
Otherwise I'm better off waiting for the RTX 5000 series and then getting the pimax crystal or by that time the valve index 2?
11:35 how much did Pimax pay you to record that reaction? hahaha, I mean... it is clearly acting XD. I am not a hater, in fact I bought the Crystal and I am waiting for my order, but yeah, that was funny to see lmao.
Hi! Do you run msfs via steam vr with pimax crystal light?
Still not sure if I want to shell out $1500+tax for this when I already have the Reverb G2. Do you think it would be worth it to upgrade? Would it be 3x worth the money?
@@IcyTorment Yeah.. canceled my preorder . Think I'll skip this one.
Did you try with DLSS enabled?
I just got the Crystal. It´s unplayable in MSFS. It looks like the tracking is not working correctly and it is jittering all over the place when you move your head just a little (I´ve set everything up as you adviced). I´ve tried another game and it worked fine. Anybody able to help fix this (Running a 3080)?
What about regular games like hlf and elite dangerous
👍👌
Hello Tetiana. Your GPU is 99% usage in this game, but my GPU (RTX 3080) is around 30-40% usage with the same game... any idea why? Do you think I am not taking fully advantage of my GPU? I truly appreciate your comments.
Hi Gilberto, it could be that your GPU is bottlenecked by your CPU. Or you play in a low display resolution, so that your CPU takes most of the work.
Crystal or varjo aero?
Does it work with infrared light?
ok go to new york kla guardia i want to know if you get 60 fps if you get 35 will be great
Does the PSVR2 work on pc?
No.
