      If you believe Nvidia's graphs on flight simulator the 4080 and 4090 on DLSS3 with AI frame generation is almost identical. You really can't make that decision until we see benchmarks without DLSS3/AI frame between 4090/4080 in cockpit, in a dense city.

      I have a 2070 super and happy. With the latest update with the sharpen slider and resolution slider I can get it as smooth as I need to and looks great with dlss off dx12 on. Dlss is a blurry mess for me. I think I may update my CPU before the card because I could double my cores and I think dx12 is supposed to work with that?

  • @Macbrowndog

    Mark, The biggest and most important point is the PSU... If you are going to shell big bucks to purchase a 4090 you can afford to get the correct PSU with the dedicated 12v PCie5 plug... The 4 x pig tail adaptor the GPU suppliers are supplying with the card is just not good enough. It not only looks very untidy but there is a potential for failure.

  • @ThermaL-ty7bw

    and probably 6 installments from the bank , so you paid it off next year in the summer
    they scrapped the 12GB btw
    and the 4090 seems to draw about 280-350 W at full load in most clips i've seen , so plenty headroom for OC
    my guess is a 750W would be good enough for 4090 and 4080 alike

    I'm running a 4080 on a 650w power supply. It runs completely fine. I do have a very high quality power supply though. A Seasonic ultra prime titanium.
    If you're building a new pc, you should definitely get at least the recommended psu wattage. But If you're upgrading and you have a high quality 650w, you should be fine as long as you don't overclock an/or have a power hungry cpu too.

  • @dtrjones
    @dtrjones ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very good Mark, thank you. I do think over clockers will have bigger PSU than the recommended by Nvidia but for the rest of us the required system power I.e. 850W for a 4090 will be enough. Remember most of us will be using PCIe 8-pins and while these can have 4 cables, you only need to use 3 which will limit power draw to 450 (150 per connector) which as it happens in preliminary tests from the FE card from GamerNexus is more than enough.

    • @SimHangerFS

Personally im going to wait for the ti version and 6 months after release due there will be a price drop. 40 looks good BUT very expensive for what it is, especially you can confutable buy 4-5 Xboxes for one card. I'd say the MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR is what country you're currently living, the electricity cost / taxes etc. On the long run in some countries the 1.9k can easilly become a 3k cost GPU in the 1st year if you're running it OC under load 14h/day ESPECIALLY in an era which gas taxes and electrical bills skyrocketed due to Putin and Ukrain situation

    The reconmendation for Asus is 1000w for the all system. Nvidia indicates the power required on’y for the gpu. So in real Nvidia recommend in fact 450 + 500 for the system so nearly 1000w as well. Anyway a reasonable customer would put a 1300w just to be sure, the most fortunate will put a 1600w.

    Getting two things out of the way. We now Nvidia fan boys will buy a RTX4090 and Nvidia cards are always better for Flight Sims, becasuse they always has been.
    However I think Nvidia are mad, creating a 1 foot x 6 inch GPU card, to allow for enough cooling. Requiring a new PSU rating of 800 - 1000 Watts, to run
    games between 10-30% faster and smoother. In a period where energy prices have never been so high!!
    Because the specs of a RTX4090 PC, will be replacing the heating and radiators your room. Intresting if the cards thermal throttle in standard summer tempatures?
    Wasn't the RTX3000 serise cards create with energy saving in mind???
    But before we all jump on the hype-train, this isn't the worse of it, That pricing model, oh-boy, that pricing...tee-hee ...is simply killing off PC gaming industry, single handed...A whopping $1800 dollars RPP each (not including what will retailers/ scalpers will add on),. This is the same price of a brand new rig/ system. Which you also have to buy, just to fit this stupid card in 🤔😵‍💫😉 ....Lol, simply madness and not really smart business.....yer selling a few card will generate revenue. But for how long, for a card which may not fit a lot of PC's form factors? Until everyone has to drop their prices in order to ship and make something on any remaining units.
    CRAZY Nvidia Crazy and not in a good way.
    This is just another product pointed business or to allow for further lazy programming, ignoring any possible in game performance tweaks.
    Or its for the rich, the desperate and stupid. Without consideration for anyone else.
    I love Nvidia, but even I am really on the fence over this new design Nvidia cards.... Nice idea, but no prizes.

    I am watching this video with a mixture of disbelief and pity. So glad I chose the XBox S a year ago. And switched to Mac in 2008….
    Such a big and hungry product is not a card anymore. It should be sold in its own case with dedicated power supply and some nifty connector to hook it to your PC.

    • @Buddy308
      @Buddy308 ปีที่แล้ว

      That idea is so intriguing that I'll guess that before long it's brought to market, probably by more than one manufacturer. It's not for everyone; were I planning a new build, the easiest way to include a 4090 would be inside the case, but there must be many thousands of gamers for whom your idea would obviate the expense of a whole new computer

  • @ThePeperich
    @ThePeperich ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What a great piece of technology and proof, that Nvidia is afraid of the new RDNA 3 lineup coming November 2022. xD
    Thx for your ideas in this video. But pls -> be aware the RTX 4090 draws less(!) power as all thought and as it’s predecessor. Hardware Unboxed from down under th-cam.com/video/aQklDR8nv8U/w-d-xo.htmltime=22m20s showed it (and all legit reviewers, too) , the total system consumption of a high end system is not a problem for a quality(!) PSU (of a good brand) with 850w.
    You missed two important points. Display and GPU.
    Everybody should to check and think about the monitor before changing anything.
    -> Refresh rate: Many use monitors with max 60 Hz so max 60FPS is needed for a smooth gameplay. Extreme gamers aside, as they should know what they do.
    -> Resolution: 1080P, 1440p, 2160P - what are you using? Choose your GPU wisely, you will may be even not need a rtx 4080 (little edition) for 1440p at 60Hz or 75Hz.
    At last check your CPU. The first tests showed that even the mighty AMD Ryzen 5800X3D struggled to deliver the data fast enough to the RTX 4090 monster. So new GPU alone comes often with a need for a new CPU, if the GPU is a very big one.
    Solution, be careful what you buy and look on this generation RTX 3000 and especially (price to performance unbeatable) RX 6000 lineup. The prices of the first one will go down, the later one already dropped. On the continent (greetings to our friends on the island) 730,- € plus minus für a AMD 6900 XT brand new is not impossible.
    (check steam hardware survey store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/Steam-Hardware-Software-Survey-Welcome-to-Steam )
    I for myself would build a whole system incl. a RX 6900 XT if I had to spend 2000 €/$/£ or any other currency in that amount and had some money left over xD (as I would go for 1440p gaming and a nice 6800 hehe - already at 1440p and that is wonderful enough for me).
    Cheers, Pepe and keep up your great work

    • @Buddy308
      @Buddy308 ปีที่แล้ว

      Except for a few Nvidia fanbois, for whom the mere thought of a GPU that's not Nvidia is anathema, it seems foolish to buy a 4090 or a 4080-16 before setting how the AMD 70xx cards fare against then in rendering, power draw, and super sampling. My 3080 works great in 1440 with one main monitor. I've yet to try it in VR or with multi-monitor 4K, but I can envision needing an update when I do, and I sort of see an RDNA GPU to pair with my 5800X3D as more likely than a gargantuan, power-hungry, hot-as-a-poker RTX 40XX. We'll know in less than 6 weeks.
