Yet another video packed with great content and advice! Just like you, I've been within this hobby for many years and been a dedicated VR flyer since the first headsets were available. In my opinion, nothing improved my experience and the overall immersion more than VR did in all these years!
So, for anyone with the required hardware or funds to get it based on the excellent advice given in this video, you'll be amazed what VR will do for you!

Thanks for making these Mark. Long term follower and also early adopter VR/HP G2, ex-real world ppl. I suspect you know what I mean, but it’s impossible to share what VR flight sim really means in a 2D video. The brain goes to a different place. It’s a paradigm change. VR and flat screen are two different activities. I still 2D sim for new aircraft, complex IFR, and anything where I need a pen; although in-VR kneeboards etc are coming on. But seriously, if you have flown in real life, there is now only VR.

Awesome video. I started MSFS 2020 when it launched using my home-built PC: i7-10700KF / 16 GB with Nvidia 3070 and a 1440P gaming monitor. I was so enthralled with the Flight sim experience; I jumped on the Reverb G2 v2 bandwagon and loved the possibilities. I found the PC struggling and I was spending an inordinate amount of time trying to tweak the bazillion settings for a more realistic VR experience. Alas I gave up and built my new PC (before seeing this video). I wound up with a Z690 + i9-12900K, 32 GB DDR4 (3600), Dual M2 Samsung 980 PRO 2 TB drives, and a Gigabyte RTX 3080 Ti. Now simming with the Reverb G2 is pretty effortless and very immersive. I suspect that with the incremental advancements in the sim and various toolkits, the VR experience will only get better. I'm somewhat amazed that what I built for MSFS is pretty much spot on with your recommended hardware. thanks so much for this very informative video series. Huge thumbs up!
Oh one comment. The biggest issue I have with the G2 is the inside out tracking - it seems to be erratic, especially when in the cockpit on the ground and not moving. Perhaps you have a video about Reverb G2 head tracking and environment setup and I just haven't seen it. But solve all head tracking issues in the G2 and It's a keeper. I don't want to have to upgrade to a headset that requires tracking devices if it's not necessary. 🙂

I am still unsure if I want to go down this path as I have just upgraded my PC and bought the Airbus control system. I wish I could try one to get an idea if it would be a future purchase, they might have a FlightSim stand VR set-up at the next airshow in Australia. Well done with your videos I have watched most of them.

Obviously the biggest and best is always the right option.. but I play MSFS with a 8700K CPU and a GTX1070GPU with Quest 2 linked and unlinked.. which is now capable of 90-120hz at that 300 bucks.. works fine on medium-high settings in MSFS.. the head tracking is probably the biggest reason for my use.. beats TrackIR... with that said, MSFS is enjoyable in either Flat or VR .. it is just a marvelous title. I enjoy it so much, I purchased a Xbox Series X just to have a smaller footprint in another room, even though it has no VR.. enjoy your videos... cheers!

Mark, firstly I would like to thank you for excellent tutorials and guidance on the subject of VR, I’ve watched all of them which have answered most of my concerns … however, the one thing that still concerns me, is the physical hands-on interaction with my Home built Cockpit … the obvious being my Simionics bezels, and was wondering if you have any suggestions as to any VR headset on the market at the moment that would allow me to see and physically operate my PFD & MFD bezels … without having to remove the headset.
Having watched all your video’s I’m certainly leaning towards the HP reverb G2 … I have a thousand odd hours in the real thing and have convinced myself that VR is definitely the way to go with the sim, but having used the G1000 in real life it would be hard not to have physical use of the same in my sim. Once again, many thanks for you very informative channel.

Really helpful video, Mark. I was doing some research on VR before taking the leap. Earlier this week I was thinking I might just buy the Reverb G2 headset to get it by the weekend. Kind of wish I had. The price yesterday on HP's website was about £598. Just refreshed the page in the hope of seeing a discounted sale price and it's now £903 - a little more than a 50% hike. Hi, I am almost blind in the right eye and wondered whether I would be able to use VR or not. The answer is yes you can as we have learnt how to interpret the world through a single lens already!
I also held my PPL despite having difficulty with judging distances, which resulted in some intersting landings in the early days:-(

@@Delboyii Thanks Dereck, I appreciate the info. I had no that VR had addressed this problem. I’m a few days away from this years exam which I want to get the results from before I start getting serious about this.

Hi! My rig is the laptop MSI Leopard GP76, i7 11800H, rtx 3070 (130tdp), 64Gb DDR, Win 11, Oculus Rift S, Honeycomb Alfa+Bravo+Saitek Cessna rudder pedals. I could say that I took the Rift S to substitute my TrackIr4 devise and it was my first VR experience. But what a disappointment, I cannot run it in VR even at the low settings. It stutters all the time, at any settings, with ASW off or locked 30, 18, whatever, it is unplayable. Without VR I run it in 2.5k resolutions on high-end settings quite smooth. Not sure if it is Rift S related or probably the rig is too weak to play it in VR.

On the face of it, you should be able to achieve low to medium settings. Not sure why not. Possibly the weak link is the mobile 3070.

The game is really demanding. Therefore it is wired it goes fine and smooth without VR being on. Also the other demanding games such as Cyberpunk, Witcher 3 (update 4) go on max settings (without RTX enabled) in 2.5k smooth. So maybe it is Rift S to blame. Will need to get on to my TrackIr, but of course it is hard to get such an immersion without VR

No, the Xbox does not support VR unfortunately. See here th-cam.com/video/2EWJstK2WEI/w-d-xo.html

I have to disagree with you on one of your first points. It does feel like you need a degree in computer science to get msfs 2020 working.!! It took me days to get it installed and now it freezes my screen when I try to fly. There's lots of advice but nothing has helped really!

Mark...have you seen "TheVRpilot" video on extreme clarity upgrade in VR for mfs2020? It's called wow this trick....amazing quirk....everyone loves it! ❤

Yes I’ve seen it thanks, it helps with lower end CPU’s. Very subjective results. There are a few compromises with this setting. Didn’t help my system at all.
