For cutting the hole in the end if the grip, this Motion Pro tool is a super clean and easy way to make that happen. And it is blade free, so the cutting yourself element is removed : www.chaparral-racing.com/product/motion-pro-grip-cutter/315-8335.aspx Thanks for watching! - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
yea, but it does help in future removal of the guards. So when you take the guard off it wont pull the grip off with the handlebars end screw and handguard.
Chandler Masson For about $7-$8 bucks I would replace it for sure. You want to have everything secure of course especially on the throttle side. Plus, you have to drill out the end of it. It would save you a lot of hassle down the road.
Hello SA, the largest one that fits. All aftermarket bars have different internal diameters, thus the reasons an answer was not given. Just use the best one for your application.
I'm putting guards on my Suzuki dual sport but they have slugs on the end of the bars so I'm having to drill through them but I still need a 9/16 drill bit to finish it off which I can't find anywhere:/
No, the grip are very rubbery and they just get torn to pieces. This Motion Pro tool is the PRO way to cut the hole in the end of the grip: www.chaparral-racing.com/product/motion-pro-grip-cutter/315-8335.aspx
It really depends on why it is sticking. Could be the throttle tube. Could be the switch box housing. Could be frayed cables. Could be a pinched or "bent too far" cable. Trace the cable from one end to the other looking of a bend, break or a fray. Listen to and feel the throttle tube movement.... Maybe the cables need to be lubed? Lots of possibilities. - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Good deal. You might be able to loosen your switch box housing and shift the throttle tube inward. That should allow clearance for the handguard. Try that first... - Kyle
I have the same problem. The bolt holding the hand guard in the end of the hande bar presses against the plastic throttle handle. I bought some cheap Acerbis guards.
On my installations I actually file back the plastic throttle tube so that the bar end is a little bit longer then the throttle tube itself. That should fix you right up. - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

You should take a look at the Acerbis MiniCross Handguards, www.chaparral-racing.com/Product/acerbis-minicross-rally-handguard/257-5511-03.aspx
Can i still do this if my throttle tube is broken off at the end?

What size drill bit did you use?
Use a stepped drill bit. It's much easier than what is shown.
What size drill bit do you use for the throttle end of the on a 7/8" bar?
SA Bjork I like to use a step drill bit. It's easier and you'll get a cleaner hole rather than a regular bit. -ML
