nice job man! i wanted to get those handgaurds for the build, but it wasnt in my buget. i had perfectly fine Moose handgaurds, so i bought cheep folding mirrors instead. Awsome instructional video!
a '13, Nice ! .Yes you need to Let them know what you have for a bar . some of their top clamps only work with the beefier bars. email them with your info. they are very helpful
This video has earned you a new subscriber. I don't have a WRR yet, but hopefully I will soon, and these handguards have been on my "Want!" list since being interested in the WRR. I love walk-through videos like this. Much appreciated, and I look forward to your future videos. .......and I gotta say, "DAMN, those handguards and being able to remove the factory mirrors really sets the bike off!". It looks awesome.
I love mine. Uber beefy and they cover the entire hand/lever area. I might have to upgrade to the adventure upper clamp if it is available foe the TE449.
Hello Krim! I use Adobe premier pro to edit and the gopro hero for my on bike videos and hopefully soon a hero2. For my install video I used a canon T2i.
at this point I have one toggle switch mounted for my power commander 5. it allows me to switch between two separate fuel injection maps. I will be doing a "bike" video but I'm just waiting for a couple things for the bike.
Wow, they look great! Thanks for making this video :) Planning on grabbing some HDB guards/mirrors in a few weeks for my new KTM; will definitely be referring back to this vid.
Wow. These make the Acerbis guards on my DR look like toys. I like how large the plastic shields are too. Did it make a noticeable impact on the amount of wind hitting your hands?
Just looking at their site, they apparently make those plastic hand guards with LED turn signals in them now too. That'd streamline the front of my bike something fierce. Definitely added to the wishlist.
So a little over 2 years later what are your thoughts? Are they still holding up well? I debated on getting them, but Xena has the skinny 7/8 bars. I ended up getting the Tusk D-Flex ones for $50 and they are great.
you might want to think about a bit of antiseize on the bolts going into alluminum in case you ever have to pull them apart.. One trick if you dont want to buy some is dip the bolt in malox.. it will dry to a white powder and do the same thing :D gotta love the tips Stacey David gives you on Gearz
Great vid, glad you took your time for this. Instructional videos tend to get rushed a lot! Would you consider moving the ignition? It doesn't look like you're gonna have a good time trying to turn the key with gloves on.
Thats a great video ! I've been waiting to see an install of these hand guards. They are the beefiest ones you can buy for the wr250r. Now I had a question if you would of stayed with the top mount that would come with the hand guards do you think you would have more room to work with ? Until now i did not realize that this could be in the way of the ignition. For me it would be a hassle to deal with that. Anyways thanks for the video !
I drive 35 km each way to and from work and cruise at 110 km with throttle left over. Thats about 30 minutes of ride each way. after that the seat can be a bit uncomfortable. In stock form, gas mileage is fantatsic !
Great vid, thanks. The manufacturer should pay you because the explanation of their product on their website is rubbish. Thanks again, this vid has convinced me to fork out for these hand guards that are double the usual rate for equivalent items.
What does that whole hand guard rig weigh? Looks pretty beefy the way it screws into the bars and then that extra plate over the clamp and all. I have laid my R down a couple of times on the rocks and the zeta's held up pretty well.
I used to hide my mirrors at the trail-head whenever I would go off road...I like those better I still managed to break the end of my clutch lever off but I actually liked it better broke since it was just perfect for 2 finger clutching. I accidentally discovered as well if you don't get all the rubber cut away from the handgrip it becomes a suicide throttle (which I also liked so I never fixed it)
so are you completely happy with all the parts you got? anything bugs you or could be improved? great vid btw...thanx for taking the time and sharing. you're on the island? I'm in Sooke!!
Greetings from Germany :D I just got a stock WR250R and I'm thinking about getting these handguards. Would you recommend getting a new Handlebar with it, or is the stock one fine? Why did you upgrade to a fatbar? And which one^^ So many questions... but it's my second bike and i'm kinda lost... Save riding :)
Is "fatbar" a term for all kinds of 1-1/8" handlebars, or Renthal only? The Renthal Fatbar I've been looking at recently are 1-1/8" at the clamps, and 7/8" at the controls. Do I need to specify this when I order the Highway Dirt Bikes hand guards, so that I don't get the wrong tap?
after you've replaced the stock mirrors, is there anything that you could stick as a placeholder in the open thread to stop water/debris from getting inside?
how is your wr on the highway? Im trying to decide on what kind of bike I want to get and im considering the wr250r or the wr250x... Problem is I drive 20 miles to work every day on the highway and want to have a bike that I can take to save money on gas
Hey which bend do you have? I was gonna ask you did you have to cutt your bar or bend the guards to make a nice fit??? Also is it a pain in the A** swapping out bars and throttle clutch Etc...
now that you got smaller mirrors, any chance removing that rear assembly too? You'll see that the bike will A LOT BETTER instead of looking like a satellite with wheels :P Congratz for your purchase and good luck with your wheelies, I saw that you're getting very good at riding on that back wheel :D
That key clearance looks like a pain in the butt. I was gung ho to get these handguards until i saw that about them. Kalani has a less intrusive looking top clamp, do they still make those? Or is it that bad?
Hmm so its not too intrusive? I might just give the next gen guards a go but i feel that if I'm gonna pay for them I might as well get the strongest option. Haha
I know this was awhile ago but I'm fairly new to you channel. I was curious, how is the 250 on the highway. I recently moved to Florida, however my girlfriend, family, and friends live up in PA. I wan't a dual sport but I don't know if the 250 could handle the long 75 mph sections of highway. I'm sorry I don't know the conversion to KPH.
RideVictoria It's 950 miles it'll be numb WAY before that haha thank you so much. I had to drive down so I split the 18 hours into 6 hour segments over two days. But seriously, thank you. Keep the rubber side down.
Hay can you see out of those mirrors on your wr put some on my tw200 hard to see out of them was going to order bars for my we just seeing what you think
Do you know what measurements you used for Wr250r I’m thinking center to center is about 4 inches that is about 101.6 millimeters also noticed it looks like you had a fat bar lower clamp to match the top do you know what size it is it looks like it’s with in there specs but not sure if it’s ten or 12 millimeters any help would be great
Hey man I installed my hwy Dirtbike guards and my renthal fat bars and my clutch cable is super tight like not enough slack you have any problems with that?
I understand that :P also i wanted to know, i need to pay 50$ more for the mirrors? they dont come with the 150$ guard? So it makes 200$ without shipping?
put some hd clear duct tape on it cuz if you hit a tree on a trail and the glass from the mirror shatters it can pop tires or cut ur face, neck, arms, etc. just a tip :)
+Alley Viper the grip has zero to do weather the hand guards move or not. I have slammed mine into pavement at 60 Kmh and they didn't move. cheaper hand guards rely on friction from the rubber to help hold position....these don't.
...Because, deep down inside you....there is a warm, dimly lit, Hobbit like hole, where a small quiet little man sits....holding his helmet in his hands, wiping the dust from it ...dreaming of the day that you will let him out.....To Ride.
I contacted Paul at Highway dirt bikes. He is super helpful and If you tell him what you have he will get you the right match.
nice job man! i wanted to get those handgaurds for the build, but it wasnt in my buget. i had perfectly fine Moose handgaurds, so i bought cheep folding mirrors instead. Awsome instructional video!

A good skid plate that wraps around the side to protect the forward sides of the engine.
They went in really easy. Thanks for commenting !
Hope this helps make your install run smooth. Check their site for downloadable instructions.
Excellent video, I liked the fact that you sped it up so I could se the whole project instead of cutting away like some people do.
I don't even have an offroad/adventure bike...why did I just watch this whole thing? lol. Great work.
I have only good things to say about this set up. I have put mine to the test several times, including my over easy wheelie bail.
Thanks again John....I will so long as the budget allows. I have some ideas for the future.
Yup ...you can lock it. In fact, in order to get the key out you need to lock the steering.
Wow, they look great! Thanks for making this video :) Planning on grabbing some HDB guards/mirrors in a few weeks for my new KTM; will definitely be referring back to this vid.
I literally just put some of these on a week ago. Different brand but same style. I was breaking too many brake levers. Awesome vid!
You made my day! Thank you. I'm glad that it helped you out with the install. double smiley face! =D =D
Mainly pipe ,header, power commander. I have a video of the bike planned , so stay tuned.
yes they work well. They are a convex mirror so you see a wider field of view than the stock ones and you can adjust them on the fly.
Wow. These make the Acerbis guards on my DR look like toys. I like how large the plastic shields are too. Did it make a noticeable impact on the amount of wind hitting your hands?
Thanks. I need to get a set of these hand guards for my bike and had to find out what kind you bought.
Just looking at their site, they apparently make those plastic hand guards with LED turn signals in them now too. That'd streamline the front of my bike something fierce. Definitely added to the wishlist.
I think there is only one dealer, the owner, and he's a good guy. You can email him any question about your bike and he's very willing to help.
Yea, they do knock the wind down compared to none at all, but I still feel it
Right on...you'll never need to replace another lever again !!
So a little over 2 years later what are your thoughts? Are they still holding up well? I debated on getting them, but Xena has the skinny 7/8 bars. I ended up getting the Tusk D-Flex ones for $50 and they are great.
I will have these on every bike in the future. Rock Solid.
Have you seen the ones they sell with the integrated turn signals? Those looked awesome.
I wish all the mototutorials on YT were shot this way. Make more of them. Many more.
you might want to think about a bit of antiseize on the bolts going into alluminum in case you ever have to pull them apart.. One trick if you dont want to buy some is dip the bolt in malox.. it will dry to a white powder and do the same thing :D gotta love the tips Stacey David gives you on Gearz
Gearz makes me happy happy.
Great vid, glad you took your time for this. Instructional videos tend to get rushed a lot! Would you consider moving the ignition? It doesn't look like you're gonna have a good time trying to turn the key with gloves on.
Its not bad in the weight department, but I don't have an actual number for you. That top plate is nice though. lots of room to mount stuff to.
No problem. It's a Canon T2i DSLR.
Thats a great video ! I've been waiting to see an install of these hand guards. They are the beefiest ones you can buy for the wr250r. Now I had a question if you would of stayed with the top mount that would come with the hand guards do you think you would have more room to work with ? Yes, You could buy a ram mount ball that fits the threads. It would give you a place to put a gopro, gps, cell phone holder.
You could probably use a 1/2" bolt to block it off.
The stock bike is around 28 horse power. with my mods I'm around 32 HP.
I drive 35 km each way to and from work and cruise at 110 km with throttle left over. Thats about 30 minutes of ride each way. after that the seat can be a bit uncomfortable. In stock form, gas mileage is fantatsic !
I didn't realize how nice these were. I've gotta get me some!
Great vid, thanks. The manufacturer should pay you because the explanation of their product on their website is rubbish. Thanks again, this vid has convinced me to fork out for these hand guards that are double the usual rate for equivalent items.

Those mirrors work great too. Thanks!
so are you completely happy with all the parts you got? anything bugs you or could be improved?
great vid btw...thanx for taking the time and sharing. you're on the island? I'm in Sooke!!
I had a panic attack ...watching the WD40 try to migrate between your bar and grip..lol Thanks for the help and Visual
Greetings from Germany :D I just got a stock WR250R and I'm thinking about getting these handguards. Would you recommend getting a new Handlebar with it, or is the stock one fine? Why did you upgrade to a fatbar? And which one^^
So many questions... but it's my second bike and i'm kinda lost...
Save riding :)
really enjoy your videos! i have a gopro and a dirt bike too....Motovlog coming up? idk im thinking about it! but not on this channel!
Sorry if this has been asked but is this video recorded with a gopro or a drift?
Sweet. Guess I'll have to get me a WR250 now, then, so I can put these on it.
What handlebar is that and how do you like it better over stock? i feel like mine is way to close together and flat.
Ride on thats what I figured. Appreciate the response how you loving your WR in general...?
Great bike
Ok I'll check it out
What bend do you have on your wr?
after you've replaced the stock mirrors, is there anything that you could stick as a placeholder in the open thread to stop water/debris from getting inside?
They are sure worth having !
What switches are you going to connect to it? And is there an episode that states and shows your mods?
how is your wr on the highway? Im trying to decide on what kind of bike I want to get and im considering the wr250r or the wr250x...
Problem is I drive 20 miles to work every day on the highway and want to have a bike that I can take to save money on gas
=D I really like mine and have , on occasion used them as intended
I just put some guards on my bike but of course I see this after I got another brand. Stay safe
:) Next bike.
Hey which bend do you have?
I was gonna ask you did you have to cutt your bar or bend the guards to make a nice fit???
Also is it a pain in the A** swapping out bars and throttle clutch Etc...
Honestly don't know the exact bend as the bars came on the bike. No cutting needed for the guards. Swapping should be fairly painless.
Hey man, I'm curious if the mirrors offer enough adjustment to achieve a good field of view? Any thoughts?
These are nice. Im going to get these when I get a bike.
now that you got smaller mirrors, any chance removing that rear assembly too? You'll see that the bike will A LOT BETTER instead of looking like a satellite with wheels :P
Congratz for your purchase and good luck with your wheelies, I saw that you're getting very good at riding on that back wheel :D
Does the mirrors work? Can you point 'em where you want 'em?
How are you liking those Highway guards with the mirrors?? Worth every penny?
Every single penny. Check out my crash video for a demo th-cam.com/video/1WmVRfNu-rE/w-d-xo.html
those mirrors are cool. when i first saw it i was like, how the hell are you supposed to see shit? but the slide out feature is perfect
how much it would be cost?ang how can i order the same thanks
Go to highwaydirtbikes .com and they have all sorts of options
That key clearance looks like a pain in the butt. I was gung ho to get these handguards until i saw that about them. Kalani has a less intrusive looking top clamp, do they still make those? Or is it that bad?
It Took me a while to get accustomed to it, but now it's no problem-o. You can't just pull the key out though, unless bars are locked.
With the stock gears you can do it but your butt may be numb when you get there.
RideVictoria It's 950 miles it'll be numb WAY before that haha thank you so much. I had to drive down so I split the 18 hours into 6 hour segments over two days. But seriously, thank you. Keep the rubber side down.
Thank you ! I've put them to use several times =)
Hay can you see out of those mirrors on your wr put some on my tw200 hard to see out of them was going to order bars for my we just seeing what you think
No problems seeing out of them at all. :)
Thanks for info just bought my Wr250r love this bike
Do you know what measurements you used for Wr250r I’m thinking center to center is about 4 inches that is about 101.6 millimeters also noticed it looks like you had a fat bar lower clamp to match the top do you know what size it is it looks like it’s with in there specs but not sure if it’s ten or 12 millimeters any help would be great
@@shawnmcdade7276 I just came down to the bike to check. My upper clamp is stamped 110x38/40
Thank you
Great vid. I'll be getting these for my KTM Adventure 950. Thanks.
What year wr250r is that? Did you not go with the lower clamps as we'll???
2011. I had beefy lower clamps so I went with them.
How much are these handguards roughly?
Thats a great idea. Thanks !!
Thank you!
..and they are beefy too.
Hey man I installed my hwy Dirtbike guards and my renthal fat bars and my clutch cable is super tight like not enough slack you have any problems with that?
None at all. Check which way it's running and look for any hard bends. try backing off the cable adjuster as well.
I’m late to the party…. How TF do you have a fatbar on there with no adapter?
Highway dirt bike has fat bar adapters
Excellent Mine should be here today for my old xl500
hey, what mods are you running on your bike?
And in looking at getting the renthal cr bend any knowledge on that bend?
Nope, sorry I don't. :(
What handlebar are you using?
So long as you're not driving, carry on ,, =D
Hey Kim, what mods did you do to bring the horsepower up from 28 to 32?
Jason P Power bomb header, fmf muffler, power commander 5, K&N air filter, Air box Mod,
RideVictoria Does it worth all the money??
Horse power is always worth the money ;)
I understand that :P also i wanted to know, i need to pay 50$ more for the mirrors? they dont come with the 150$ guard? So it makes 200$ without shipping?
you could always go with Zeta guards, but I'm not sure if they include mirrors
Are you still using your stock levers with these?
Yes I am
They make a great product. =D
put some hd clear duct tape on it cuz if you hit a tree on a trail and the glass from the mirror shatters it can pop tires or cut ur face, neck, arms, etc. just a tip :)
if handguards are supposed to stay were they are installed.......why cut all that out of the grip?
+Alley Viper the grip has zero to do weather the hand guards move or not. I have slammed mine into pavement at 60 Kmh and they didn't move. cheaper hand guards rely on friction from the rubber to help hold position....these don't.
+RideVictoria appreciate the vid. Will be putting zetas on my wr tomorrow. Thank god I don't have to tap it. Admire your patience with that.
Thank you :)
what is the bolt pattern of you clamps?
+Ride Qc (Raphaël Roy) That is an excellent question......one that requires me to look it up. Ill get back to you.
Ok thanks;)
...Because, deep down inside you....there is a warm, dimly lit, Hobbit like hole, where a small quiet little man sits....holding his helmet in his hands, wiping the dust from it ...dreaming of the day that you will let him out.....To Ride.
those are bad ass...nice work
that's a Fat Bar.
I really despise those little buggers!
No loctite?
I recently had to loosen and partly remove the guards to install heated grips. Everything was tight as could be .
Anyone know if these will fit a WR125X?
Contact highway dirt bikes and they will let you know. They are really good getting back to you.
Gotcha ! =D
Thank you!.....I hope that video never gets made though... ;)
Safety is #1 but sure are ugly . Great video budd
Finely now I now how thanks
:)
