I love Cycra's products, so I bought a set of these hand guards. First time riding with them, tipped the bike over, nothing major at all, and it busted the rebound joint where it was bent all the way back to my handle bars. Bought another set, same thing happened, leaned the bike against a tree, fell over, time for new ones. I like the concept, but at $70 a pop, I can't keep putting them on my bike. I feel like Acerbis vented uniko guards are cheaper made, but I've had some gnarly crashes and the things won't bust (had a set 2yrs). I run all Cycra plastics and love their products, but just can't afford to keep replacing the hand guards.
I consider these the best handguards in the market. The certainty comes after having tried all previous handguards and i own two bikes fitted with them. Not many dirt bike parts are as good/cheap/reliable as this handguard! Congrats to Cycra and a big thanks from a 5 year racer (3 of them extreme)
I've never seen someone struggle so much to put a handguard bracket on haha. use an allan key to get the screws started easier. I must have some degree of OCD to, the fact that the screws weren't lined up in the centre of those anodised drilled out washers gave me Forest Whitaker eye. Handguards are so hard to get right, it amazes me that so many are still made in that "flag" style and snap straight off the moment you have a little crash. But hey, I suppose as long as they keep breaking, people will keep buying replacements right? The best design is the original KTM and Husqvarna ones that mount directly to the brake and clutch clevis. thats how they should be making non wrap around guards
Why would anyone give any of your vids a thumbs down? Your vids are great and helpful. I'm trying to decide between full wrap/flag style or just having 2 sets of bars. 1 bar w/ full wrap and 1 bar with flag for MX.
Cycra pulled the patent on the older style breakaway flags from the 2010 era. I'm still running those with spare parts I scrounged on ebay. That design lasted too long and was pretty strong and crash resistent, so Cycra killed it. Msr, Moose, and Enduro Eng all had a rebranded version. You could even buy replacement parts... What a concept...
And old trick is to wrap the clamp area on the bar with teflon tape then install the guards. You can tighten the brackets very tight and they will still move in the event of a crash. I've been doing this for years on the brake and clutch clamps.
What is your verdict on these today? I can't decide between probend crm or these ones. I love the look of flags but not if I'm breaking levers all the time
One front end washout and the the bolt that held the plastic rebound piece tore right through the plastic. No parts available so it seems like these are a one ride and done. Also no response when I emailed cycra.
You should for sure add a trailer after you say "Dirt bike channel" I think it would make it even cooler for your channel! make like a quick 10 second trailer at the start of each video. Great video again!
In your future video of full wrap around hand guards can you discuss the pros/cons of it vs flag style? It seems to me that flag style is more for protecting hands from roost and small branches than protecting levers when you drop the bike. That's where I really want protection! Do you think those new Cycra hand guards would prevent a broken lever in a get off? The levers seem like they'd still be vulnerable to being pulled forward when dropping the bike on a hill climb.
+Jeffrey Chow I really like to think of the flag style provide more of a deflection instead of providing protection. Both styles don't always protect you from branches as the smaller ones tend to bend down and smack your hands from underneath. In my opinion full wrap around are really just for when you dump the bike it will save your levers. I guess if you smack a tree with your bars it would save your hands but still cause you to probably wreck.
+Dirtbike Channel Sam That makes sense. I'm more concerned with breaking levers while riding solo in remote areas than deflection. I'd think trail riders and especially hard enduro riders would be the same, but most are running flag style guards. How do they not break their levers?!
They probably have breakaway levers. In the past I ran full wrap around guards but currently I have breakaway levers that will move out of the way instead of snap when they hit the ground.
I have KTM brand that roll back but don't roll up. I haven't broken them yet. KTM calls them flex lever's. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/3118/41193/KTM-Flex-Brake-Lever?v=11981
Hi Kyle, it is great that mounting brackets are aluminium. I am looking for some, where mounting brackets will protect my clutch and brake - not talking about levers now, but about the piece, which mounts to handlebars. I have seen several times, when guys have dropped the bike and accidentally broke off the whole clutch or brake assembly from the handlebars. Do you think these are strong enough to protect from this happening?
They certainly don't give you as much protection as a full wrap guard would, but these are the strongest flag style guards I've used. Saves my levers and hands yesterday when I went over the bars on a steep downhill trench.
+Dirt Bike Channel, me and a few of my friends were wondering if we could tag along an a ride with you? we all just moved to UT (Military) and wanted to find some good single track stuff to ride. we live up near Ogden.
I'm a new sub and love your videos! I have question for you though, why did you switch from the fmf gnarly to the pro circuit platinum 3 pipe? I just broke my stock pipe and was in the market, which do you recommend?
+Ryan Schulze The FMF Gnarly from what we could tell tends to have more meat in the midrange of the powerband. The Pro Circuit seemed to increase the power towards the topend vs the midrange. Both are excellent options.
I would not mount them over the bar. It seems like it would slip if you bumped a tree or dropped it. Under the bar seems like the way to go. I run wrap around guards and they have saved my hands and levers many times.
Allergies? You sound different. Anyway... been looking at these since I first saw them. Almost bought them but saw a couple of bad reviews. Glad you are testing them for me. Could you test deflection rearward toward the bars somehow without hurting yourself for the next video?
Good review. Should have a allen head bolt instead of a supercheap slot head screw. Not a fan of the flag style hand guards.... Too many snaped off for me.... they seem to be a one crash item 😡. I can get many many offs out of even a cheap set of alloy spined wrap arounds. Never broke a lever yet.
I dig em. My bikes have the flag style which I seem to like a lot. I've never had the full wrap-around style guards. What are the general pros and cons of these? More durable in a crash is all I can really think of.
+TopShotta I've just read some of the other comments and it seems you have a video of a wrap-around coming soon. So I'll just wait until that one haha. Cheers
Not a big fan of the flag style. I broke a pair on my first couple outings when I first got my bike. I've always seen full wraps as the way to go since I bought my cycra probend's. At least in my experience they've saved my throttle tube and grips from tearing. A year and a half later with some serious abuse and they're going strong. Albeit I had to bend them back into shape a few times.
I recently have been looking for a pair of hand guards and I'm stuck between a full wrap around or a flag style. I mostly ride mx but I Doris's trails also. Any suggestions?
Can you please invest and do a review on the odi emig V2 lock on system grip. They are amazing I had pro taper pillow tops but the emig sate 10X better
I'm not being a jerk, but what's the point? If u dump the bike those won't protect your levers. I have the full wrap around ones and they work great, I just don't see what these do beyond keeping brush from smacking your hands.
+Dirt Bike Channel ha! Did you notice the person spinning in a chair in the right hand corner from 3:11 and so on, also love the channel and keep up the great work!
hey, i am in desperate need of a clutch reservoir replacement for my 2010 ktm sx150, its that box type thing next to the clutch lever if you dont know what i mean. had an accident on my bike and the mount attaching to the clutch lever has snapped off clean so need a new reservoir:/ i cannot find one anywhere on the internet!!! PLS HELP, THANK YOU 😀
+blake woolam i went into a mc store and they said could be $$500 so i am kinda looking around the net to see if i can find the part a lot cheaper before resorting to the store
Mate I don't like those hand gards as they will move out of the way if you fall off and let your brake or clutch take the force of the fall but love your videos
I love Cycra's products, so I bought a set of these hand guards. they look pretty good I really like the Breakaway action
What is your verdict on these today? I can't decide between probend crm or these ones. I love the look of flags but not if I'm breaking levers all the time
I moved my start button to the clutch side, works good.
Your channel is awesome! would it be possible to do a series on how you go about converting a dirt bike into a supermoto?
Thank you
i just got a pair of the rebounds yesterday i putting them on tommorrow is it easy to put on
One front end washout and the the bolt that held the plastic rebound piece tore right through the plastic. No parts available so it seems like these are a one ride and done. Also no response when I emailed cycra.
same story here, no response to email and no pickup when you phone
Good save when the bracket fell off the seat!
+UhhRyxn - PS3 Quick hands!
You should for sure add a trailer after you say "Dirt bike channel" I think it would make it even cooler for your channel! make like a quick 10 second trailer at the start of each video. Great video again!
+Thom 1883 Not a bad idea. Although many people have told me one thing they like is that I get right to the point quickly.

+Dirtbike Channel Sam Which levers do you run? ASV makes some pretty economical ones that can pivot forward. I also see some that fold upwards.
I have KTM brand that roll back but don't roll up. I haven't broken them yet. KTM calls them flex lever's. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/3118/41193/KTM-Flex-Brake-Lever?v=11981

Dont tight the hand guards too much and put some teflon tape below your levers, with this combo you will save your levers in a case of crash
Good morning, I wanted to ask if you can install the ktm duke 250 NG, Thank you very much

+Ryan Schulze I'm running stock right now, just because. I like both the FMF and the Pro Circuit Platinum 2 for different reasons. Both are good.
+Dirtbike Channel Sam Alright thanks
+Dirt Bike Channel thanks man love the channel keep it up
I would not mount them over the bar. It seems like it would slip if you bumped a tree or dropped it. Under the bar seems like the way to go. I run wrap around guards and they have saved my hands and levers many times.
+Johnathan Yinger I have a pair of wrap around guards I'm going to do a video on soon too.
Allergies? You sound different. Anyway... been looking at these since I first saw them. Almost bought them but saw a couple of bad reviews. Glad you are testing them for me. Could you test deflection rearward toward the bars somehow without hurting yourself for the next video?
TH-cam screwed up the audio
Hi Brother
Hand 22mm, can we use it?
what kind of hand guards we're already on the bike?
Good review. Should have a allen head bolt instead of a supercheap slot head screw. Not a fan of the flag style hand guards.... Too many snaped off for me.... they seem to be a one crash item 😡. I can get many many offs out of even a cheap set of alloy spined wrap arounds. Never broke a lever yet.

These would be great in muddy-rocky motocross where a full wrap around could be dangerous.
Hi, I wanted to know if these windbreaks work for the ktm duke 250, Gracis
They will fit any bike. Just check the bar diameter.
Will they fit on my klx 140?
thinking about getting these. they still holding up good?
Yes, I've been very pleased with them. Very good balance between full wrap guards and the flag style.
These are exactly the same hand guards as Msr makes. Exactly.
I recently have been looking for a pair of hand guards and I'm stuck between a full wrap around or a flag style. I mostly ride mx but I Doris's trails also. Any suggestions?
+erniegdt I need to test these to see how they hold up, but they might be a good compromise between the two.
Personally I don't see any drawbacks to full wrap guards so id go with them
+erniegdt wrap arounds are illegal in racing
+Shane only drawback is illegal in racing
rides a ktm has yamaha flag?? can you do a video on your set up of your workshop?
+Oliver Carey I own both. I also have Honda bikes. I will do one of those sometime this year. So many video topics to cover!
+Dirt Bike Channel yeah fair enough i have a kx250f , watched most of your videos and they are all helpful have a look on my chanel most appreciated
Can you please invest and do a review on the odi emig V2 lock on system grip. They are amazing I had pro taper pillow tops but the emig sate 10X better
Are*
+Husqvarna enduro The pillow tops are so much softer. The v2's just make installation easier.
+Johnathan Yinger being younger I really needed a half waffle on my grips
+Husqvarna enduro I'm going to look into this. I hadn't seen them before.
Husqvarna enduro What does age have to do with grip design?
Those look pretty sweet! And so does that new dome! lol j/k
I'm not being a jerk, but what's the point? If u dump the bike those won't protect your levers. I have the full wrap around ones and they work great, I just don't see what these do beyond keeping brush from smacking your hands.
They keep roost of your competitors away from your fingers. Simple.
Can you get the cycra handguards in black
+TripleX XGamingReptile Yes.
+Dirt Bike Channel ha! Did you notice the person spinning in a chair in the right hand corner from 3:11 and so on, also love the channel and keep up the great work!

+Nicholas Bethke alright thanks, its the clutch cylinder though?
+Nicholas Bethke hey man i checked it out, found what i needed but dont have it for a 2010 150sx...
+Nicholas Bethke thanks for your help but cannot access the link?
+Michael Veale Sadly, you may need to go to a dealer.
+blake woolam i went into a mc store and they said could be $$500 so i am kinda looking around the net to see if i can find the part a lot cheaper before resorting to the store
Audio sounds really wrong at around 2 minutes, sounded just fine at the beginning.
+Josh .P >__>
+Josh .P Yeah, I can see that. Sounds fine on my computer (with the native file), but TH-cam has an echo on it :(
Just wondering why you don't use bark busters? I'm not against hand guards just wondering that's all
+dring83 My question also. Is one a better option or why choose one over the other?
For enduro only closed bar
+Holy(Enduro)Riders I have some of those I'll be showing soon too.
+Dirt Bike Channel barkbuster
I love your vidios!
Thanks John.
3:09 lol who's that person swinging on the office chair on the write
+julian wilson My 8 year old son. I often have little helpers in the shop with me just off camera. I'm a dad 1st :)
Do they fit a Kawasaki klx 110
Jovany Garcia yeah man, they're basically universal, just need space on the handlebars
I purchased a pair for my bike
Mate I don't like those hand gards as they will move out of the way if you fall off and let your brake or clutch take the force of the fall but love your videos
+The Emerald Moose That may be the case, but many guys can't/won't run a wrap around guard....
The only bikes I think hand guards look good on is Ktm and Husqvarna
I will take those old hand guards off your hands.
oh man above, don't you ever have ya bike land upside down and crash the controls...Underneath...what a waste of weight/protection ratio!
good video ! (from France :D ), but this type of protection is shit for hard enduro
+Ramos34 descour Full wrap around guards are better for that type of riding.
My repetitive thumb injury would disagree... Hate the wrap arounds.
Pains me to say but test the durability aka drop your bike a bunch of times 😂
+Caleb Newton I hear you. Just don't drop the bike :)
Second
They braking after one falling
Dont waist your money

This channel made start one but I'm 13 so I ride bycycle
