    I just used enough power and got the left grip off just by that. The old glue was still there just put the new grip a bit into place. Then i took a plastic hammer and hammered it all the way to the end. The right one i just cut in half. Ripped off. Then took the new one. Sprayed some hair spray inside it. Put it a little into place. Hammered it in. You people make grip changes seem like rocket sciense.

  • @deimosphob
    @deimosphob 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That tool is actually for lock-wire, something that is used in high vibration parts such as jet engines, where it is mainly used. There are holes in the nuts that they loop wire into to keep them tight, and they go between every bolt in such a way that they can only get tighter, and the tool is used to make the wire into a strong cable or to tie them off at their ends.

    Too much bullshit. All you need is possibly a blade to remove the old ones and hair spray to put the new ones on. Spray paint is ridiculous and messy. Hair spray does that same thing with NO mess. Slippery when wet and turns to glue when dry. The wires are a bonus and possibly the 3rd thing you might need. But they aren't always needed.

    I love it "Stick it on your broom handle." any ways I like how you respond to everyone asking questions. I got 2 for you. first whats your favorite grips? second i'm 13 out to be 14 5' 2" and 96 pounds what bike do you think would be good i like to do small jumps often and ride around fields on the farm i was thinking about a Suzuki rm85, Yamaha yz85, Kawasaki kx85, also maybe a Honda trail bike but I might break the suspension. this will also be my first dirt bike

    • @motorcyclesuperstore
      @motorcyclesuperstore  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey CaptainPatchXIV-Productions, sorry for the slow response, was out of the office much of last week. Here are my answers to your questions.
      1) Favorite Grips - ProTaper PIllow-Top MX Grips - These are very comfortable, have decent lifespan and I like the color options (even though I cut off the ends for my hand guards). The colored ends are very durable for extra crash resistance also. Here's a link: www.motorcycle-superstore.com/14448/i/pro-taper-pillow-top-mx-grips
      2) Any of the 80/85cc two-strokes like the ones you mentioned would be decent bikes. Thousands of riders, myself included, cut our teeth on similar machines. However, they are pretty dang racy. They have narrow powerbands that can be difficult for a new rider to control. I promise you are going to flip it out from under you at some point during the learning process. Plus, they are fairly tall which makes it hard to feel comfortable on for some riders. The Honda trail bikes are good machines. So are the Yamaha or Kawasaki versions - though I personally prefer the Honda products. I have a CRF150F for my 13-yr-old daughter and it is awesome - I probably ride it more than she does ;-). I also had a Honda 80 and Yamaha TT-R125 - both cool little bikes. Don't worry, you aren't going to break the suspension.
      Here's the deal - when it comes to first bikes, don't overdo it. We're all tempted to get our dream machine because they're shiny and awesome and our imaginations go crazy thinking about them. And that's the beauty of having the motorcycle bug, but the truth of the matter is that a bike that is easy to handle will build your confidence and skills much quicker. Even if you have to sell it and move up to the 2-strokes or something else in a few months or a year, that's OK. I bought a bike that was too much for me when I was a new rider because it seemed cooler, but looking back it was a terrible choice and I will never be as good as I should have been because of the bad habits it taught me. Talk to your parents, find out what you and they are comfortable with and how much you have to spend. Then compare that to what bikes are available in your area.
      Let me know what you decide on. Dirt bikes are the best thing in the world so I'm excited for you! - jc

    • @motorcyclesuperstore
      @motorcyclesuperstore  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      CaptainPatchXIV-Productions Not a bad choice. I'd recommend the big-wheel version if possible. It will last you longer and the larger front tire rolls across bumps better. - jc

    • @captainpatch3840
      @captainpatch3840 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      definitely getting the big wheel version problem is i'm broke and cant find a ttr 125 big wheel on craigslist in my area that's why i thought of the rm85 because 4 of my friends very close to my size have recently started on one and loved it. i also sat on a ttr-125 l? or the big wheel version and it was about perfect the seat was a little short but not bad.

    • @motorcyclesuperstore
      @motorcyclesuperstore  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      CaptainPatchXIV-Productions Two-strokes are cheap to own and maintain. Big bonus if you're broke... It's a huge reason why I ride a YZ125!! Do what you do, buddy. Just keep your head on straight, take it slow and wear some decent gear. You'll be ripping in no time. - jc

    • @motorcyclesuperstore
      @motorcyclesuperstore  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Logan Lott Some grips are vulcanized to the bar and throttle tube from the factory(Kawasaki, Suzuki come to mind). So they will never slip, but I've never liked a pair of stock grips! Another down side of vulcanization is when you want to put new grips on,t you have to buy a new throttle tube and spend a little bit with a razor cutting the grips off the clutch side of the bar.-RH

    Why spray paint? Use hairspray or silicone spray.

    Can I use tie wire instead of safety wire??

    for atv grips (no traits throttle obviously) is the safety wire necessary? i don't want my grips to twist but is the wire necessary for that or just a added layer of safety?

      808sand Blvke no. I ride an atc 250r hard and I don't use wires nor do the grips twist. I just use grip glue. You should be good with out the wire

    Best and easiest way to install grips is to use pressure air

    I changed the grip that goes in to the throttle and i turned it clockwise and the throttle broke now as i turn on the bike it starts to give throttle by itself. How can i fix it ?

      IJAmBaZz If the throttle is stuck open and all you did was change the grips, there's a chance that nothing is actually broken. I've had the same thing happen to me on several occasions and it's always because I pushed the grip or throttle tube too far toward the center of the bar.
      1. If the throttle tube has the end intact (no crash damage, no handguards), it might have been pushed tight against the end of the handlebar as you crammed the grip in place. Loosen the throttle housing bolts and pull it back a little, make sure it's close but not rubbing.
      2. If the end of the tube is missing, the rubber grip might be rubbing on the end of the bar. Same solution as #1.
      3. If the end of the grip is removed (for handguards) it is possible to push the thumb flange up against the throttle housing assembly. Remove the grip and reinstall.
      4. Dirt or grit could have been pushed into the throttle tube or jostled loose. Remove the throttle tube, clean with brake cleaner, reinstall with dry lubricant/graphite/etc.
      5. The return cable could be damaged or broken. Inspect it closely where it attaches at the throttle and carb. Replace.
      6. Throttle cam/housing is damaged. Inspect and replace.
      Hope that gives you a little direction. With any luck it's one of the first four examples. - jc

      Motorcycle Superstore thanks alot. I turned the throttle counter clockwise with full force and now i can ride.but now as i look down at the throttle housing it has a hole in it and i think there is a part that keeps the throttle in place so it cant go clockwise anymore from that specific spot so i think i just have to replace the throttle
