I have been teaching sergers for over 40 years you are such a delight and do such a great job wether it be serger, sewing machine or dollar tree. Keep up the good work. You light up my day. I am still teaching but i am 81 and just teaching a ministry Kids to Sew and Sow and ladies of the church one night a week. The weeks i teach the children we have 5 days of class then a style show so we can get the parents to come see what they have accomplished. It is such fun. I taught all kinds of sewing and sergers pattern drafting etc. You and Angelia Wolf are my favorites. Great Job😄
A helpful hint for flannel before washing: On the cut ends (straight from the store ends) use a zigzag stitch on both ends. This will keep the raveling down to a minimum!
My 3 teens always blamed each other about who left the dirty towels and other things. I had them each pick a color from the 8 pack Crayola crayons, and that was it! Their color for everything. Sheets towels, medicine bottles, cups, no more fighting!
I love your videos!! They're to the point, accurate and really help me as a beginner. Also, your presentation is spot on. Some videos, people ramble on and it's like...just get to the point already, I NEVER have that with your videos. You make me laugh and bring joy to my sewing experience! I appreciate you 🙏🏼
I love this!, I’m going to hang the bag on my towel bar in my half bath for when I host thanksgiving!!! Want to make some for my daughters for washing their faces. Thanks for teaching me how to tie in the tails. I made my dad some handkerchiefs last year and they are fraying. Now I can whip him up some more 😃
I am going to make some of these for my toddler. He always drops the hand towel in the bathroom on the floor after he dries his hands. I don’t have a surger but my 4 year old won’t mind if it’s not fancy. Lol! I will place them in a basket on the sink and make a bag for the wet ones. THANK YOU! Another Gold Star today! ⭐️ You’re the best.
I had some left over from baby gift projects so I just made a few random sized to keep in the car for quick dusting or small spills. I keep them in the center console for easy access.
THANK YOU! I received a serger as a gift last year and (shamefully) have been too intimidated to use it. But NOW I am inspired and encouraged and motivated to make these for Christmas gifts!! And hopefully, trim down my abundant flannel stash. 😂
Clever idea on the rounded edges to reduce sewing tails in! Love it. I have my Mom’s serger that was in a box and was never used. My goal is to use it at least once this month!
What a great idea! I think you could also use these little towels if you take a lunch box to work, place it under the box as you eat, or dry your hands after lunch, wipe the table...etc...Or roll one for your kids lunch box (even smaller size). You could use same technique to create a set of reusable napkins for home. For a bag, if you are in a hurry simply buy those mesh laundry bag , as you so cleverly said, throw it in the laundry and Presto Cadabra - you're set. Great idea, great video! 👍
What a great idea, thank you! I'm planning to make several as washclothes for Operation Christmas Child boxes I'm currently filling. I've got some fun flannel that would be perfect. The tip on how to serge a rounded corner is also super helpful, thanks! I've marked the curve first since they turn out uneven if I don't. But, I've always turned it holding the main fabric, not corner - genius move!
Such a great idea! I was given ay MIL serger and have never used it this is a great way to learn. Do you realize you didn’t sing talk any words in this video!!! Love watching you!!! And love your sing talking 😂
I'm thinking Terry cloth remnants would be great! Oh and holiday print sets for hostess gifts! Endless possibilities abound! Thanks for the inspiration!
I made those years ago a craft show and I had People asking me what they were. I had a bunch of antique bobbins That were tall And wrap the towels around thethe wooden bobbin. Then I started using paper towel holders. I love em And it does save a ton of trees! And money! Great video!
You can also cut down bath towels and serge the edges for nice little hand towels. Also, when my wash cloths get ragged around the edges, I serge the edges. All new!
You are a joy to watch. I love your enthusiasm and your passion for sharing Sewing with others. . And sometimes like today, I lol 😂at the part where you were burning the ends! I just discovered your channel a few weeks ago and I look forward to seeing each video. God bless.
You can create a casing using your serger by folding the fabric back right sides together about 2 inches (from the top) then fold the fabric back up 1 inch so that it meets the top again. Then serge the 3 layers together and fold the serged edge to the inside. You can do this before or after you sew the side seam. Then open a hole by cutting or using a seam ripper or installing a grommet ahead of time. I think a beginner can do this.
AMAZING !!! Clever!!! I love this gift. The use of these flannel towels, wipes are endless. I was thinking dust clothes? Wash clothes, come on soft squishy wash clothes.. I do not own a serger but can do this on my sewing machine with a zig zag stitch. Thank you for sharing.. ❤❤ 🛀
I purchased my serger about a year ago when I found the one I wanted was on sale. I still have never used it. I think this project may be the thing to finally get me passed that intimidation. Thanks!
Oh, wait -- I can do curves now! This video was so simple and broke it down for me. I'm so challenged by curves with a serger. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm going to make some for my daughter who likes to use bath towels as face towels.
I get so excited with you as you have epiphanies on your videos!! I wish you lived closer so we could craft together and be friends. ❤ thank you for sharing your pure joy of this craft with all of us.
Who knew making dish cloths could be fun😊. I don't use my serger much it scares me and things are always off. Like you said a great project to learn from. So that's how you do rounded corners looks easy. Thanks for the info and showing how it's done.
This is an awesome gift idea for Christmas! I hope that we will be seeing more gifting ideas for those quick little Christmas gifts or hostess gifts! We just found out that my husband has to have a complete shoulder replacement surgery on Dec 2. So, my time for sewing this year will be even more limited than it usually is but I still want to gift something handmade! I’m making a list and checking it twice but I know I will be making some of these for gifts! Thank you for always inspiring me!❤
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I have made many of these but usually out of fat quarters and that size. Kind of like reusable napkins. I love the idea of the flannel and of the smaller size. I also like the way for presentation. I am going to make some of these out of flannels of which I have gobs of and the little bags.
Love love love this! I'm going to try making these using a zig zag stitch since I don't have a serger. Chelsea, I absolutely love all your videos. You are so talented and you explain everything so well so even beginner sewers like me can understand and follow. Thanks so much for all you do for us!
Practice your zig zag stitch length on scraps, first. Also practice your "corner" technique, too. I prefer a shorter zig zag length. 2 or so on my machine. Yours might vary, though. I have an older machine.
Hi Chelsea, I don't have a server, but you can still make them in a regular sewing machine. What a cute idea and they would make an awesome gift. Thanks for sharing your idea. I just signed up for Craftys Hugs to you.
Chelsea, I love how you present your tutorials, you make everything look so easy. I am not new to sergers, but I get so many ideas watching even the simplest projects being made. By the way, I have a Baby Lock Celebrate serger, too! If there are any "must have" accessories I should look into, please let me know!
I’m wanting to make a towel wrap for my grand daughter she is 2. She loves mine!! I’m sure it’s easy!! BUT I won’t look at anyone else’s stuff cause you’re the BEST!! I loved the little shirts you made. Incase you have it listed and can’t find it!!
Great tutorial! I bought some paperless paper towels from Amazon a few years back, I use them every day, but I still keep paper towels around to use for really messy messes that I don't want to put in my washer. I did get a portable bidet and made a bunch of paperless toilet paper. I still use regular paper at night because I don't want to wait for the water to get warm, Right now I'm saving up to buy a bidet toilet seat and hopefully won't need toilet paper even at night. I'll still keep a roll on hand for guests.
Really enjoyed this video and your enthusiasm over this project! I was thinking that using older flannel sheets for fabric would be good if you don't want to cut up new fabric for cleaning-project type cloths.
I have a compromised immune system, so when family is visiting, I use paper towels to wash my hands. When it is just my husband and I, we have our own hand towels. These would be perfect! I don't have a serger, so I'll just hem mine!
Funny you should mention using the pinking shears - I bought 48 different fabrics to replenish my stash. After washing a few of the 1 yard pieces I thought that doing a trim might help so I trimmed one end of each one of the next batch. Taking them out of the washer I could tell which end had been trimmed - taking them out of the dryer both sides were so frayed I couldn't tell that either side was any different. I looked for any sign of the trim - no luck. Maybe my dryer is just to tough - I don't know but it didn't help me. A few of the pieces did fray less, but it must just have been the material because both ends looked the same.

Just ought my serger yesterday and thanks to this it’s making its appearance tomorrow morning. Thank you “Bestie”

Now I want a serger!!!!!!!!!
Me too
I love this!, I’m going to hang the bag on my towel bar in my half bath for when I host thanksgiving!!! Want to make some for my daughters for washing their faces.
Thanks for teaching me how to tie in the tails. I made my dad some handkerchiefs last year and they are fraying. Now I can whip him up some more 😃
That little basket with the bow is just adorable! What a great gift idea, and they even get a basket to keep them in.
I love this project! I don’t have a Serger. I may try it by using a zig zag stitch on my machine.
I was thinking the same thing because I don't have a serger either.
I am going to make some of these for my toddler. He always drops the hand towel in the bathroom on the floor after he dries his hands. The only things I still use paper towels for is cleaning grease out of skillets and other heavy grease situations.
I'm thinking Terry cloth remnants would be great! Oh and holiday print sets for hostess gifts! Endless possibilities abound! Thanks for the inspiration!
I've been THINKING about making some of these!!!!! You have completely inspired me!!!❤
*1 hour later* I have made 6 cotton "hankies" with colorfully edged serging to wash and reuse! They're SO PRETTY!!!
I’ve been wanting to do this for ages! My mom would go crazy for these! Now I just need to get the fabric! ❤️
I made wash cloths for my grandson similar, but I used a washcloth with the flannel..I loved how they turned out .
Took a flannel shirt, made some paper towels and added new sleeves to a hoodie :) Make it a great day! Blessings.
When I saw the leftover strip, my first thought was: sew make up removal "pads" with the leftover strips.😃 Scrunchies are a good idea, too. 👍
Exactly what I do with them!
I made those years ago a craft show and I had People asking me what they were. I had a bunch of antique bobbins That were tall And wrap the towels around thethe wooden bobbin. Then I started using paper towel holders. I love em And it does save a ton of trees! And money! Great video!
I don’t have a serger but I’ve made kitchen towel one side flannel & the other side terry cloth. My family members love them.
You can also cut down bath towels and serge the edges for nice little hand towels.
Also, when my wash cloths get ragged around the edges, I serge the edges. All new!

Thank you for the great info on the rounded corners!!!!
I purchased my serger about a year ago when I found the one I wanted was on sale. I still have never used it. I think this project may be the thing to finally get me passed that intimidation. Thanks!
Great ideal Chelsea. Don't have a serger. My husband just bought me a new sewing machine. Early Christmas gift.❤

That’s absolutely adorable

Aw, thank you so much! I’m so glad you like it!
You are just brilliant and what a “share”! This is wonderful for gifts and so fast with my serger
You could serge the edges before you wash the flannel to stop fraying then cut it off to straighten the edges.
Love this! Going to make some!
This is the greatest idea! I've seen two great Christmas gift ideas that I'm going to make here on your channel. Thank you so much.
Yay! I got it, thank you very much!❤
Thank you❤ I will definitely try this.
I love your videos, yo
U are a life saver when you are coming to my recuse. I stop about everything to watch your videos

Really enjoyed this video and your enthusiasm over this project! I was thinking that using older flannel sheets for fabric would be good if you don't want to cut up new fabric for cleaning-project type cloths.
