Chelsea is the cause of my addiction to installing ZIPPERS! Yall… she single handedly convinced me via tutorial that it wasn’t that hard and she was NOT wrong! I was in Joann the other day chatting with a lady wanting to learn to sew and I told her start with zippers they aren’t hard and they will make you feel so accomplished
You have such a wonderful personality! I’m 71 years old, I’ve been sewing for over 60 years! But Girl, you still teach this old lady a bunch of new tips! Keep it up 👍🏻
I absolutely agree. I'm around 40 and I have picked up sewing because I am not able to connect with people and socializing has off late seemed hard to do .. but when you come across genuinely human teachers, who also share their anxieties and wins and general bits about their day... you feel a little less lonely and you feel connected to your kind through this hobby
@@blooey5231 I know what you mean! It's like hanging out and sewing with that neighbor that you actually feel comfortable around. Have a great weekend!
Haven’t stepped out too far from my comfort zone yet BUT because of your encouraging and supportive approach, I grabbed an old tea towel and made a bag holder for all these plastic bags that reproduce in the wee hours of the night. It worked so well I made another to hold my cleaning cloths. Might not be super seamstress but I felt awesome that I was able to figure it out AND complete something that I had envisioned. That was all thanks to you, Chelsea.
I'm a newbie sewist and I've been watching your tutorials lately (haven't made too much yet) for tips and tricks and you have made me feel SO much more confident. I'm a visual learner and I like to know things before I start so when an issue happens I know how to fix it. I'm also obsessed with you as a person, the singing, the curly hair, laughing at yourself. Very much like myself and you make me feel comfortable 🥰 thank you for these posts and for being you!!
I needed this. Zippers frustrate me every single time!! It’s late tonight but bet I’ll be trying this method tomorrow!! Thank you for all the knowledge you share with us!!!
I thought it was just me who loved to use pinking shears lol I found you today and subbed because you are a delight! I love how you’re so encouraging and I love your ideas! Dollar tree. Here I come ❤
I'm not new to sewing, but I love your teaching style. The next time someone ask me for a Beginner sewing channel I will definitely recommend your page. Thanks for all that you are doing for the sewing community.
I've been sewing for about 45 years--I'm 70 now, but I learn something from every single video you post. The bag was easy for me except for the zipper by the yard. That stuff is kicking my butt! I'm on my fourth bag now. Hopefully, I'll get the hang of it soon. Headed to Dollar Tree this week to get a potholder to make a glasses case for myself. Please keep sharing your awesome ideas. You're the best!

Thank you Bestie! I have been having zipper issues since day one so this helps me a lot! I totally forgot about Heat & Bond, I use this for applique so I have some. Tomorrow (1/21/25) I will have been sewing for 2 months! My first bag I made with YOU! 💖 I told you that I put myself up to a bag challenge and I have a bunch of bags to complete before the end of the month. They are coming out super! I love you for being awesome and YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB AS A TEACHER, FRIEND AND MENTOR! I'm super proud of YOU! XOXO 🍎🍎🍎

Love, Love, Love, Chelsea!! Your personality is contagious and you make sewing look like sew much Fun!!! May God continue to bless you in this new year!! 🏩🤟
Just subscribed to your channel and working my way through your videos. As the previous top comment said I came to see how you did zippers on your bags! Ive sewn for 50 decades....technically on a machine age 5 and im 69 now but started making most of my clothes in the late 60s, 70s in high school. I have always thrifted clothing to use as well as back then we had great materials for 50 cents to $1 per yard. That still was cheap with minimum wage around $2 per hour! I gave up buying fabrics when I couldnt find quality. I dont order online! I have to see, touch everything! I made mini skirts from thrifted Doris Day 50s style dresses. Even my female teachers asked me about the fabric. I dont think they even make some of these materials any more. Back to the Heat and Bond. Ive never really heard of it. I know there is double sided interfacing that I do use to put appliques on some items but its lighter, almost spider web like. I'll have to look for this product for same reason you said. To use light material for bags!
Thank you for showing exactly where to sew the sides of the bag where the zipper tabs are. Now I know why my bags look odd at those points when I turned my bags. I've been sewing the whole side including the tabs.😂
This Heat n’ Bond method has been a game changer for me! It’s perfect for those “easy-to-sew-gifts” for this time of year. I’m going to use mine as gift tags that also hold a gift card or a lipstick (my bags are much smaller than this, but just as adorable as Chelsea’s). Thanks for your extraordinary clarity and encouragement! Happy sewing everyone! P.S. I ended up trimming the boxed corners and using bias tape to finish the edges. Good luck to all of the newbie sewists!! Welcome to the community!!
You are cute. I know I have that heat and bond in my stash. I have not tried the zipper by the yard…. Thank you for the concise video. You are inspiring kids to sew. I am just a 79 year old kid 😂😂😂😂
Can you recommend a #3 nylon coil zip by the yard? Just doing pouches for gifts. Think the #5 is a little wide? Thanks so much. looking forward to more of your videos.
I shared this tutorial on my channel! I donate to non-profits & these will be BIG money maker for a thrift shop that provides scholarships to nursing students! I'm so excited!
What cute bag, I see it be in my purse holding my cosmetics. One thing you should tell everyone is that the heat and bond is only a one time use It is a simple project. I like doing the corners that way instead of cutting out the corners.

You are just so encouraging!!!😊🎉❤ Thank you!!!😊😅😂
LOL!!!😂😂😂. I love your story about you not checking your toddler’s daycare backpack because I can relate - I’ve been there/done that! 😂😂😂
Oh, those toddler backpacks, right?! So much for being organized! 🤣
@@shesewsseams You are a busy mama, therefore forgiven. 😉🥰
Chelsea, you do the best sewing tutorials; fun & at an easy to follow pace! I plan to get some zippers and start making some cute bags. Thank you for these great sewing videos!
You are so welcome!
Of course I liked right away ☺️.....thank you for sharing

Chelsea I love what you are doing! I consider myself an experienced sewist. I learn something new everytime I watch your videos. I have learned new shortcuts. I love love love the energy that you bring. You are a great Mentor. Keep it up
Thank you so much! You are so kind!
So I just finished watching this video and I have always seen that type of fusible bonding in Joanne's, but couldn't figure it out. I absolutely loved that you used this process and will definitely have to at least try a few of them......thanks again
You're so welcome!
I had been sewing for years before I finally worked up the nerve to install a zipper. I could have kicked myself afterwards when I realized how easy it was and I’d waited so long to try it! It literally “opened” up a whole new world to me.😅 I just came across your videos and I turned off Netflix to watch you instead as I found you so much more entertaining! Can’t wait to watch more.😊
